1. Your avatar is about 10 times bigger than it should be.
2. Definitely build for +HP and recharge. I don't see how you could possibly get high defense on a fire tank, considering there is ZERO defense in the set. Basically you just want as much health as possible, and healing flames to recharge as fast as possible. That's about it.
Recharge isnt as big a deal any more with DR. I had my fire/ss tank close to 100% but after the nerf I stripped it down to about 50% and hardly notice a difference. You want to build for HP first, recharge second. I wouldn't bother with def.

Not sure what you're referring too with the avatar... it has been set by the forum's standard dimensions.
And with IOs the def can be set fairly high through sacrificing slots and powers specifically to raise def... but yes it's to an amount probably negligible with tohit checks.

HP first (shoot for the 2600-2800 range), then recharge (20-40%), and then maybe ranged defense.

I'm recently dusting off an old fire/EM tank... which was decent before the EM nerf and i13 changes... and was wondering the best benefit for IO slotting.
So, would it be better to go for HP, Recharge, or mixing to get enough defense for 35% ranged def after DR? I can seemingly mix in HP/def or Recharge/def but not HP/rech to get the most out of the build.
Anyway, suggestions from others who have been bouncing around with their fire/SS tanks or brutes since I had seen quite a few of them before the elec armor change.

Edit: Forgot to mention: The recharge is about 50% and the HP Boost would put the HP around 2,500.
I'll post a build if needed, but more looking for which direction to go... not build advice.
