    Something Fun

Willpower is a great set for running on SOs alone. I'd stick with that. ^_^
  2. 1. Get your group together.

    2. Go to Faultline. This is South of Skyway, or you can get there through a manhole in the hallways of Pocket D.

    3. Go talk to Jim Temblor. He hangs out in the park South of the donut shop and the hospital. Jim Temblor is a mission contact that you don't need to have been introduced to first, so he will talk to anyone as long as you're in his level range (15-19). He will give you a mission to help Fusionette, and after that return to him and he will give you the second mission in his arc (after returning once, you should be able to call him on the phone; he'll be listed in your contacts). Jim's arc includes the AVs Kurse and then Nocturne. If you run his arc, he should introduce you to Doc Delilah or Penelope Yin (Penelope's arc does not contain any AVs, but it's fun and she will definitely introduce you to Doc Delilah at the end).

Doc Delilah's arc contains the AVs Arbiter Sands and Captain Castillo. At the end she'll introduce you to Agent G, whose arc includes repeat performances from Nocturne, Sands, and Castillo. (Agent G's missions are for level 20-24, you might possibly outlevel them before you get through the other arcs).

In any case these missions are fun, contain some unique maps, and also are your best bet for facing off against some AVs at your level. I would also reccomend the Positron Task Forces -- they're challenging but fun, also with unique maps, and with the AV Dr. Vahzilok at the end of the 2nd one. You can run one of them in about 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on how fast your team is.

One word of warning: Synapse's Task Force is a pretty long one. It's not unusual for it to take 2 hours or more, especially with a group that's never done it. That's why I'd reccommend the Faultline arcs and the Posi TF first.
  3. ...on my main account.

This past week I got my 84 month vet badge, and with it I got /auctionhouse. This is the most awesome vet reward ever, bar none! I have marketing characters camped in Day Job locations -- Shadow Shard, Portal Corps, Graveyard in Dark Astoria, Cimemora, Crey building in Nerva Archipelago -- that are a long way from a market. But I can market anywhere! Yesterday I was exploring the Shadow Shards collecting the explore badges, and I was buying and selling as I flew across the zone!

On my main account I have several characters with Field Crafter. On these characters -- Mouse Police, Huntress Midnight, the other Mouse Police on Victory, a couple of others -- I can buy, craft, and sell wherever I happen to be. This is the height of convenience! Log in, wherever I'm at, check the market, grab recipes and salvage, craft, place stuff for sale -- never have to move or zone!

My problem now is, when I log in a character without field crafter, I have to go someplace to craft. Ugh! How can anyone stand having to move to find a crafting station?

It's even worse on my other account, of course -- you mean I have to go to the market still? Why? WHY? But I can't do anything about that for now, oh well.

But! I can fix the problem with characters on my main account. Everyone can have field crafter!

...which takes a lot of work. Maybe I'll work on it tomorrow.

TL/DR: Need "Auctionhouse and field crafter" acount-wide purchasable pack NAO! ^_^

That way, it could be used for people that want to keep their badges while requiring the person to learn the new aspects of the power at an accelerated leveling rate.
    Good idea.

    OP: Bad idea.

  6. Blue phone box teleport effect? ^_^ Or costume change emote at least?

    You know you'd use it!

Technically, A) I believe they've said that newer enemy costumes will be designed so that they could be used by players, as they did with the clockwork/resistance/Praetorian police, B) They know that Carnie costumes are popular with the player base and Jay has said something to the effect of (if memory serves) that not only can they not be ported to players but also they're really too ugly, (IE, they'd have to design all-NEW carnie costumes for players) and C) They want shiny new stuff to put in their new store that we'll want to buy.

So actually, I'm betting we will be getting cool new Carnival of Light costumes. ^_^ Just a guess!

I was thinking it would be hard for Captain Outhouse to still be around and not have learned anything... at the very least, he would have become a half-competent AE farmer by now... but then I realized that no, he would have quit right after episode 2, and now he's coming back to the game because a friend told him about all of the cool stuff that's been added since then. ^_^

CO: Hello, level 50 Peace Bringer! My name is Captain Outhouse! I've been looking for a BAF but I can not find it. Can you tell me where it is?

Hero: That's the Behavioral Adjustment Facility Incarnate Trial. They usually start those in the Rikti War Zone or in Pocket D.

CO: I've hard of those places, but I've never been. Are they near Atlas Park?

Hero: Sort of. You can get to the Rikti War Zone through the Vanguard building in Atlas Park.

CO: Vanguard. I've heard of that. Where is it? Is it near the AE building?

Hero: It's not far away. If you look on your map you should see it.

    CO: What is a map?

Hero: Seriously? Have you never played this game?

CO: Lols. Of course I've played. I used to play two years ago, but it got boring so I quit. But recently my friend told me that a lot of cool stuff has been added, like incarnates, and Going Rogue, and a BAF. That is why I came back.

Hero: Ah, I see. It's true, they've added a lot in the last two years. How long did you play before?

CO: I played for two weeks. I had three level 50's, but I only made it to level 43 on my Peace Bringer.

    Hero: You're kidding me, right?

CO: Lols. Of course not. But I resubscribed two hours ago and now I'm level 50.

    Hero: In two hours?

CO: Yes. My friend was right, the game is very different now. They do not have boss farms any more. Now they have ambush farms. It took me a while to get used to the changes.

Hero: I'm surprised you managed it.

CO: Now that I'm level 50 I want to try a BAF. I have heard that you can get an incarnate, that you can go above level 50. Is that true?

Hero: You can be level shifted, which is nearly the same thing.

CO: Cool. But I was on an ambush farm for over 30 minutes and I did not gain any more levels.

Hero: No, no, it doesn't work that way. What you want to do is run Mender Ramiel's arc first.

CO: I have never heard of that. Do you have the number for that arc?

Hero: It's not an AE arc. Mender Ramiel is in Ouroboros.

CO: Ah, I've heard of that, but I don't know how to get there.

Hero: It's easy. I can open a portal if you like.

CO: Does it involve Going Rogue? My friend told me about that. I would really like to go rogue.

Hero: No, no, that's something completely different. That's a way to change our alignment so that you can visit the villain zones.

CO: I've heard about villain zones. Are they near Atlas Park?

Hero: No. No, they're not. Thank God.

CO: My friend told me about Praetoria too. I tried to find the arc for that, but I couldn't find it. Do you know the number for the Praetorian arc?

Hero: That's not an AE arc, it's a completely different set of zones... on a completely different world. Where it's nice and quiet.

CO: Lols. What is a zone?

Hero: You know, I think I'll head over there right now.

CO: Lols. Well I am going to join my friend's ambush farm again. It was nice to meet you. If you find out what arc number the BAF is, could you let me know?
  9. Well... these might be old ideas, but I've seen a pretty good Lum (Ursei Yatsura) and also a pretty good Magical Girl Pretty Sammy before, and you could do Ranma's red and black martial arts outfit easily enough...

And I know I've seen some good Sentai-style robots.

Got it. If I remember correctly, you are a pretty good day trader yourself. So could this be an attempt to get people to buy stuff so prices come back up?
I specifically want recipe prices to remain low and crafted IOs to sell for lots of money, since I buy, craft, and sell. I don't expect many people here buy my crafted IOs to resell them. ^_^ If they can, then go them! But I suppose if enough people were to buy and craft stuff and stick it into base storage, as I'm contemplating, that might lower the supply of IOs for sale and drive the price up a bit.

Anyway, I 20.5 hits first and people will be trying out Keys Trial for a while, so I don't anticipate demand for crafted IOs to increase dramatically in the next couple of months. But that gives me time to plan ahead better.

If I could go back a year to June 2010, I'd buy a lot more top-end IOs and purples and stock up on them, because the prices went up after GR. Even though I kind of knew that was coming, I didn't plan as well for it as I could have. I'm trying to figure out how to plan better for what's coming next. ^_^

    Time to buy

We'll have to wait and see, but the intent seems to be to alter the game for current paying customers as little as possible, to enhance it rather than cause new problems. Given their track record, I don't think purple or PVP recipes are suddenly going to be cheap or easy to purchase via alternative methods. I'd think they'd want to balance any new avenues of IO recipe purchases to be more or less in line with merit and a-merit pricing. And if the number of paying (VIP) customers remains relatively stable, then I don't see the market vanishing overnight.

But we'll have to see what real money can get you in this brave new world of theirs.

    Time to buy

So the answer is "nobody knows anything yet."

But I'm curious why you'd expect demand to fall just because free accounts may not be able to purchase certain IOs. Are we assuming that a lot of the current player base would switch to free to play (or quit)? Because if they don't, then demand would remain about the same... or go up slightly if people have a reason to make & play new characters (which I guess we don't know, there's only the one new power set.)

Lots of questions though. Can F2P players gain recipe drops? Can they sell them? What happens if you pay for a month and totally IO out a character, and then go back to F2P, does that character benefit from the IO'd build?

Anyway I can answer the question about "why worry if you have guaranteed daily profit margins". If I can buy something cheaply now that might sell well later, then I'll stock up. I'm trying to figure out if that might be true, but there's not enough information to really know at this point.

    Time to buy

New powerset coming. New players coming. Prices on a lot of things on the market (useful non-purple non-PVP sets that used to be valuable) have been pretty low -- time to buy?

I see people say this a lot, and I think the point is that on Virtue I can put up my LFT flag and I'll get an invite to join a team soon enough, at least during evenings when many people are online. ^_^

Mind you, that works for generic radio or tip missions mostly, sometimes actual story arc teams. I tend to use channels for forming or joining TFs and Trials.
  15. I forgot to add that everything beyond the Alpha slot is, for the moment, stuff that you only get experience and drops for in the two incarnate trials: BAF and Lambda. They'll be adding another trial soon, and... I can't remember if they're definitively adding any other ways to earn incarnate stuff or not, I know they've talked about it and players want it.

Most of that's covered in the wiki, but you might have to read a bit to figure it out. ^_^
  16. Incarnate System at Paragonwiki

That should get you going. It's a lot to take in. Simplified form:

    1. Once you've run the Mender Ramiel arc in Ouroboros, you will open up your Alpha Slot. After that you will gain incarnate shards as random drops from most of the stuff you do, TFs especially, and some TFs will give special incarnate reward options instead of merits (you get to choose at the end of the TF). Also there are Weekly Task Force/Strike Forces designated by the devs that give a "Notice of the Well" as an extra reward, which is used for the incarnate system. (As an aside, these special weekly TFs also grant much more exp than normal for non-level 50's.)

    2. If I'm remembering correctly, you click on the Powers tab and then Incarnate Abilities (something like that) to open up your incarnate window. After that you have to play around with it a bit and read up on it to figure out how it works.. but the first tab shows your Incarnate slots and if anything is slotted, or shows progression to opening up that slot... second tab is where you see the different incarnate ability trees and where you craft the Incarnate Abilities (kind of like IOs) that you would slot into your incarnate slots back on tab 1. Tab 3 is where you manage your various Incarnate "salvage"... where you can use your shards, threads, and incarnate reward pieces to craft the actual pieces you'll need for whichever ability you want to craft back on tab 2.

    Hope that helps.
  17. Rename Tokens: cannot be earned, only bought. If you transfer a character and that name is taken on the new server, you get to rename your character (which I've used when I've wanted to rename a character that I'm transferring, by making sure there's a character with the same name on the new server -- IE making one myself if there isn't one).

There was a time about two years ago when transfers were offered for free for an extended period of time as a Christmas present, and when Going Rogue came out they offered them again for free for a short time. They did not do the same thing this year, and I don't think they've ever offered rename tokens for free.

Powers Changes: Not sure there's been any major changes to the power sets you mentioned. There have been new alternative animations added for a lot of powers, as well as the ability to color many effects of course.

Zone Updates: No update to Boomtown, probably never will be. Can't think of any other zone updates besides the ones you've mentioned, but the Maria Praetorian arcs you get in the 45-50 range have been updated to reflect new Praetorians.

Praetoria: There's a portal to Praetoria in Pocket D. The only thing that I can think of that offers something more than a badge is one of the zone events that grants you an animation where you fall on the floor and have an epileptic fit like the Praetorian ghouls do when they die. But you can get all of the explore badges pretty easily.

Inherent Fitness: There are no additional slots, something you have to take into consideration when reworking your build. There are several useful pool powers that don't need extra slots of course -- Recall Friend, Combat Jumping, Manuevers. You just have to plan your build out knowing you have more powers but the same number of slots as before.

Switching Sides: Vigilantes are still Heroes. Rogues are still Villains. If you're a hero and go villain, you are not kicked out of your SG but you can't access the base or earn prestige. Basically if you plan to eventually return to being a hero, you can stay in the Super Group, otherwise you'd want to join a Villain Group. There is no such thing as a combined hero/villain SG.

Endgame: Uh... links. I'll let someone else handle this one. ^_^

Servers: The European servers are on the server list but there are no "new" servers.

Costumes: Most likely the pieces you want are there but have been moved somewhere else.

...So you're saying someone needs to create a guide to listing guides?
  19. Good rolls there too. ^_^
  20. I know one friend who was a very experienced vet who did this just because it was funny. I use neither option.

I think for me the funny part was the guy asking in broadcast why his name was yellow. /em headdesk.

    I Am Awesome!

Of course, the flip side is tonight: level 42 fire melee/shield. I join a level 50 team in RWZ, on the mission arc that ends with the fight with the rikti AV and then Nemesis AV. These are level 53 and 54 AVs, I'm sidekicked to 49, there is no WAY I am their biggest threat, and yet... I'm shield, so I'm their biggest threat.

I died at least four times. Somehow I got up and got the killing shot in on Nemesis though. Not that I really had any business doing that with the type of damage I was doing overall. ^_^
  22. nVidia I think.

    I try to avoid ATI.

And you've been saved by GMs twice this past week or so, Chaos. ^_^

It is pretty funny that you almost can't find a video on Youtube that doesn't have some comment about the number of people who have hit the dislike button, if the page has any comments at all.

But I don't begrudge people if that's really how they want to spend their time. It's just kind of sad, really. I don't even notice likes or dislikes, or ever think to push a like or dislike button, otherwise.
