Quote:Yeah, my point is that if you do that you don't get the 8.75% recharge bonus. Right?I think that is what Organica and Eeek are talking about, slotting 3 in one power and 3 in another power.
I mean, if you need the defense and don't need the recharge, go for it.
I haven't planned any builds in MIDS with these yet. Doing that, I might want to 3-slot here and 3-slot there and move slots around. But My street justice brute was already softcapped and I had Positron's Blast slotted in one of my attacks (I have the purple set 5-slotted in fireball already). So replacing Positron's Blast with 5 pieces of the brute ATO gives me more defense and more recharge. No-brainer, I thought. -
My experience in the past is that people don't do a lot of set IO buying during double xp weekend, but IO out their newly 50 characters after mostly. So you usually see a spike for the week or two following on a lot of stuff.
On the other hand, people buy generic IOs for whatever price they can RIGHT NAO, so they can slot them and get back to double XPing. I know it's not a massive market per sale, but the % of profit can be huge. It's a good thing for low-level marketeers or don't-usually-market types, stock up on generics leading up to DXP and then sell them nearly as fast as you can stock the market with them.
But as for set IOs afterwards... it's hard to predict what might be a really really good profit, but all the stuff that normally sells well can spike.
Actually -- with the sudden drop in LotG +recharges from the influx of merits from super packs, I'd think buying up a bunch of those and then selling them after DXP might be profitable. Because everyone slots those as much as possible, right? -
Yes, for a hero to get the Snaptooth mission you need the Beautiful badge which you earn by completing both Gandymede and Scratch missions (with the aid of a villain of course).

Quote:I've seen people say this a couple of times, and yeah, I guess the def bonus for only 3 pieces is very nice... but the recharge bonus for slotting at least 5 is also very nice. The brute set also has that same s/l bonus. Thing is, you can split up the set, and use 3 in one power, 3 in another. In addition to the obvious "wow, now those powers don't suck!" advantage (edit: by not using Kinetic Combats), you're also saving 2 slots.
Considering how many times I've 5-slotted purple sets for the 10% recharge bonus with no def bonus, I can see myself 5 or 6-slotting this set more often than breaking it up. Depends on what you want to achieve, but defense and a big recharge bonus in one set is very attractive. And, as I said, a Street Justice scrapper has a targeted AoE attack and the other options for that aren't very attractive. -
I picked up a lot of them cheap, but I'm not sure what the eventual price of these things will be.
My gut feeling is that they're being dumped onto the market right now with the intro of Super Packs, and as the supply slows down the price will rise, at least on the ones people really want.
The Scrapper ATOs for example, grant more smash/lethal than Kinetic Combat plus high recharge, and can be slotted in a Targeted AoE attack instead of something like Positron's Blast, which has no defensive bonus. I can see those things always being valuable. But since you can only slot 1 set per character, whereas people typically slot 4-5 sets of Kin Combat if they can, maybe demand won't outstrip supply?
But yeah... a billion. Lol. -
For a couple of years my primary account had a Carnival of Shadows Ring Mistress costume, and my secondary account had nada.
For Halloween I bought both of them the Carnival Harlequin costume. Then I was able to work out a trade with another player for a Knives of Artemis costume for my main account and a Mk-VI Victoria costume for my 2nc account, so now I don't feel sad when playing my 2nd account.
I'm not really into the vanity pets (or the fancy travel powers), haven't bought any of those. But I can understand why a cool pet on only one account would crush your soul. -
I went for the 24 pack too. Got the full Elemental Order set (which looks great on an SoA widow I think). Picked up a bunch of ATIOs, including 6 procs (2 kheld, 2 corr, 1 dom, 1 SoA). But I only had 3 of any single AT, and only 1 brute and 0 scrapper which I would have liked.
And 38 x 25 merits.
No wolf, and no catylists. -
And as pointed out elsewhere, purple recipes at 20 a-merits, PvP recipes at 30-35 a-merits are significantly more expensive.

My answer is "New is shiny!"
Basically why people buy anything new when they have an older model (car, coat, phone, coffee machine, etc.) -

Quote:That whoosh sound is tongue-in-cheek sarcasm sailing miles over your head.Like, really?
The Devs have proven time and time again that they do listen to us, and if possible, they will do as asked.
So your comment regarding that they don't listen to our feedback is nonsense.
Oh yeah, also: way way cool! -
Yeah definitely looking forward to it.
I just need to get my beam rifle up a little higher in level. >.> -

Well, me for one.
But as someone in a channel said, "The only way it wouldn't cripple you is if your character was fully purpled and heavily IO'd"... which Megamisama is, so it didn't really hurt all that much. I had to chew blues in longer battles, but I was able to run through an ouro arc (Freakshow Wars) and five tip missions. Didn't completely have the option to switch characters since this is the one I'm working to get to 30 hero merits at the moment, waiting a day wasn't really an option... but I survived it okay.
But yeah, on some of my lower-level and not heavily IO'd toons, I already have to chew blues in combat... something like this would pretty much render them useless for 20 hours. -
Great, now I'm thinking I need to make a fire/dark or arrow/dark corr. As if I don't have enough characters (and enough dark themed characters) already!
I do like my corrs though, and I don't have enough of them yet. Probably my favorite support toons, unless you count SoA as support too. -
I use 4 power trays and 5 for my lone MM. And for khelds, I have binds to swap trays around when I switch forms -- absolutely essential to be able to play one well, I think.
This is probably one reason why I like playing melee so much though. You have so many powers that are inherent or toggles that you set and forget -- it makes it much easier to concentrate on just the powers that you actually have to press buttons to use. -
Heck, even in a solo SG it's nice to have every character in the SG be able to pay rent. I like to keep a lowbie alt parked in front of the guy at City Hall for that purpose. ^_^

Is this a challenge to see who has the best afk skills?

Personally I'd like new katana animations, for example, but the problem is always that someone out there likes them just the way they are. Also, of course, they don't get more money out of me by just fixing katana up. (Again, as an example).
Plus I remember when all the katana animations were the same as broadsword... so technically it's not one of the oldest sets, animation-wise.
I'll almost certainly be playing a staff melee character come I22 though. -
So as a joke I was going to post a bunch of names for sale, and then list names that would fit the kind of person who only claimed names so they could profit by them... but that's a lot of work and I don't have that many free slots on the server to start with. So let's just pretend I did that. ^_^ Here's the list of names that I COULD have claimed and tried to sell, because they're all free at the moment:
Hoarder
Camper
Poacher
Racketeer
Fleecer
Exploiter
Arriviste
Filcher
Pillager
Plunderer
Hijacker
Crook
Pilferer
Flotsam
Jetsam
Lollygagger
Ballywagger
Schlmiel
Schlmazel
(Really surprised that a name like "Crook" was unclaimed... and as for "Exploiter", use with caution I think!) -
They have geysers in the shadow shard?
Is that somewhere near the jetpack vendor then? -
Quote:So very much this.I find it interesting that, when given something that leaves room for personal imagination, people who would get offended about certain things tend to imagine those very things.
Also, I'd forgotten about the guy who thought the Science Pack would lead to real life crossdressing and dogs and cats living in sin, etc. Funny stuff. -
1. Keep your mouth shut and listen to the leader.
2. If you don't understand what you're supposed to be doing, ask. If the leader is still explaining, ask when he's done.
3. Pay attention.
4. Do what the leader says. Don't do what the leader says not to do.
5. If you don't like how the team is run, make your own team and run it the right way.
6. If you're going to lead a team, know what you're doing and communicate it clearly to the team.
These are mostly rules for the tougher things in the game, but it does amaze me how many people don't follow them. People that don't follow rules like these usually don't wind up in the global channels that I'm in though. In fact they'll usually wind up with 1 star by their names (from me, and from others I know as well). Like the guy on a C.O.P. last month that I'd never met before but one of his friends was all excited about him joining because he was such a great player -- we head into the main chamber, leader repeats (for maybe the third time actually) for everyone to wait for buffs and wait until leader says to go -- this so-called great player immediately runs into the arena and engages one of the cubes. Thanks for not paying attention. :/ Elite player indeed. 1-starred. -
Which slightly annoys me, because why can't my Knives of Artemis costumed character stealth? That's practically built in to a KoA outfit isn't it?
But I'm just bitter that Sister Jocasta immediately turns invisible and then whines that you're abandoning her if you so much as think about using a stealth power yourself.
"Are you perhaps reconsidering our arrangement?" Why yes, Sister. Yes I am.
