Quote:I think it's more sticker shock than anything else. Plus I'm sure more than a couple people only need them on one character at the time they go to buy it so in their mind they're spending $10 or $20 for just that one character. Or at least that's their initial 'gut' feeling. If it helps, the costume slot unlocks and the storage unlocks are *global*.
Just a thought, but I know it says they're for each character in the item description, but maybe put that they're global unlocks in the text on the items list or even rename them (if that's possible) things like 'Account Wide Enhancement Increase', though I don't know if there's a character limit for item names (though from the shortening of inventory to 'inv' I'm guessing there is). -
Trust me, you're not the first person to feel that way.
Personally I kind of thought it sounded a little silly when I read a synopsis of what the movie would be about back before it started filming (or possibly just right around the time it started). I'll actually be quite entertained (in more ways than one) if it turns out to be a really good movie. -
I didn't spend anything extra, but I did pick up beam rifle, the hover board, and the barbarian pack. I'm very unlikely to be making any monster purchases, but I am most likely to be spending more on the game than I used to, and really I'm ok with that

Oddly it was sort of but not really in the costume creator. At least last night it was there as one of the pre-made sets you can scroll through to get a starting point. Had a purchasable icon next to it, but if you tried to wear the set you got some weird horrible costume with a bald character.

Quote:Heck, I don't even want ALL of the badges. I just would love a way to reroll a character while keeping the event badges. Or at the very least those anniversary badges.I have a character that I would use this on in a heartbeat if it let us keep the badges.
I rolled her as a Villain with the full intention of her switching to full hero. I hate the secondary that I picked however and would love to reroll using the same name and basic concept but starting as a Hero and with a different secondary powerset.
The thing that keeps me from rerolling is the event badges she has.
I may eventually remake her, but I'll cringe due to the lost badges.
I mean, I can understand why it might be a bad idea to allow accolades and PvP badges and all to transfer between incarnations of a character, but missing out on those others is just kind of painful for me. I don't want to delete a character who has the first anniversary badge or something ya know. -

Quote:Ahhh. I was looking all over on the actual account page. Thanks.PlayNC Account Management -> Billing Summary -> Microtransactions (Last 90 Days)
The second account I bought back in July has those 4 400 point purchases, and since I have 5 tokens it kind of seems like it was given a token for each one of them, or at least that's the easy conclusion for me to draw. -
Where do you see what day you picked up X amount of points? Or is that just you inferencing it.
Anyway, I picked up a second account back at the end of july. It has 1600 points as opposed to the 800 it should have at the moment as well as 5 reward tokens. I can't figure out why a not quite 3 month old account would have that many. -
What actually would be nice is if they could do something like this where you'd keep the name and the event badges your character has.
I know I have some characters that would really 'work' better as a different powerset combo, or maybe a different AT, but they also have something like the 1st aniversary badge. Something like that always seems to make me not quite want to delete the character to reroll it. -

Quote:That doesn't seem to work if you have any of the level 50 only costume pieces unfortunately. It gets down to the first one of those then keeps on trying to claim it but failing, then gives you an error.- You can now "claim all" rewards rather than having to choose one reward at a time (lovely!).
So yea, I still have to claim a good half of my items by hand. -
Quote:Similarly I have a female character I'd have loved to use the male wrist guards on. If they were available for her I certainly didn't see them.I am not pleased however that the small band shoulder armor piece is only on females: It would have been great on my undead pharoah in combination with the new male wrist guards and belt.
You can put them on your character in the costume creator, so that functionality is already kind of there. -
Quote:It would be 400 for every payment period you've had between then and now. So if your billing date was before today in September you'd have 1200, but if it's later in the month you'd have 800.Fair enough, but my question is more so as of Freedom's launch yesterday(this morning) how many points should we have banked in our account?
800?
Also I might actually have been wrong about the extra VIP points. I should have 1200 points, but in game I have 1650 which is what I should have for 3 months of 550 points each. I could have sworn I read somewhere that wasn't going to be the case though. -
Did they ever say the free transfer/month was starting up while we were acruing points? It's not a big item on my list so I didn't notice and was just assuming it (like getting the 550 points for T9) would be starting up once Freedom went live.
-
My understanding is those points we've been racking up don't count the T9 VIP and were just 400 points/month. From here on out we'd be getting 550 points/month though.

Quote:Hey now. Breadcrumb is a style of webpage navigation. A bread crumb is a fantastic thing for making a delicious crust on food or stuffing in turkey.Mustard... Breadcrumbs...
These forums ain't no picnic!!
... not to ruin a good joke or anything, but I'm sure someone, somewhere didn't know that -
Quote:Maybe it's just me but that general tab is getting really full of stuff. I've gone in there looking for something that I know is an option and spent far too long looking for it before. Heck, once or twice I've completely missed it and had to go back to the forums to find out exactly where it is (turning off the blinking email thing for instance).Yeah, I'm not going to say it's in a super obvious spot, but I think under "prompts" was the most appropriate place.
I've always had a very hard time skimming through a list for something though for some reason. -
Quote:Yea I know. I have it and I don't think I've ever used it beyond the one time just to see what it looks like.Shadowy Prescence isn't a travel power tho, quite the opposite. Requires you to stand still to work.
I'm just saying I thought the pricing on ninja run and the like was also 600 points. But as I said, I could be entirely wrong on that as the last time I checked was several weeks ago and even then it was a cursory glance. -
Quote:Ok, that's what I thought. I just never really paid much attention to anything but the breadcrumb links and those most certainly seem smaller. It's really way too 'scrunched' up there. No that's new. They've shortened the current forum window for it.
Could maybe the welcome message be put into a much wider box just below where it currently is? Or the breadcrumbs? -
Didn't all the travel powers except for rocket board come down? I thought they were all the same price in beta. Though I could be wrong, I didn't play much on the beta server for the last couple weeks.
-
Was the gigantic welcome to the forums message always up there or always that big? The breadcrumb navagation section seems smaller to me for some reason.

Quote:Chances are that video that was posted a while back (and very shortly thereafter disappeared) was using the animations. Or at least it was using early versions of the animations. Not a joke, probably...we know that the set is in development, and it might not even have animations yet.
Having seen the video when it was up I do have to say I liked them though. Very similar to actual kung-fu staff forms. I know that's not what everyone wants in a staff fighting powerset, but no matter what you do animation wise with that set someone's going to be unhappy I think. Kind of like the dual pistols animations really. -
I have to say, that's a kind of odd workaround for the problem. Thanks though.

Quote:Well, my thought on Freedom has generally been that it's a preemptive attempt to maintain profitability in the face of steadily declining subs. Why wait until you're in dire straights to try and fix something when you can see it's going to be coming up in a year or three (or two ... or whatever). If it's worked for other games as a last-ditch effort why can't it work for us when it's not quite one. That's interesting. If that is the case than I will certainly retract my opinion in that respect.
There were two comments 3 years ago or so that I used to gauge my opinion (I couldn't verify either at the time, so I chalked it up to feasible but not confirmed, until I learned the current population level. That gave more credence that this was inside information.)
The first was a memo tidbit that claimed the desired target was the same as SWG once had...300k subs. The second was a comment that subs had dropped to
137k and were still dropping, and they were disappointed that subs were going in the opposite direction but chalked it up to market competition.
When the last sub report was released it was very close to the proper claimed subs in the released info, so it gave it credence. I haven't seen any other info since (before you posted that they publically commented they were profitable at 100k) that talked about profitability levels.
If that is the case I'm happy to hear that, but I would find the choice to go free to play an odd one. Unless, of course, they are actually trying to INCREASE sub targets at the moment, which is certainly possible.
It is certainly food for thought.
About the 300k thing. I could actually see that as an expectation for CoV. CoH was a success and managed to gather about 150k folks and since the idea of CoV was that it was going to be a whole separate game in parallel with CoH so pulling it its own separate set of subscribers would make sense. It would also explain the pre-CoV launch ideas that every issue would basically be a double issue with both CoH and CoV content. Also why instead of doing that Cryptic dropped the team down to 14 people. Development was trucking along until then, and you really don't release quite major expansions on the level of CoV for failures.
That is entirely speculation, but even if it's completely true CoV's potential failure wouldn't have negated CoH's success. Plus NCSoft's continued support of the game tends to imply that they see the game as a success and would like to keep it that way. I mean, we've all seen what they do with games they don't think are successful.
