Quote:...The Surfer has a wide and poorly defined suite of powers, but they extend beyond simple ranged and melee attacks.
He's basically a Defender with whatever Buff/Debuff Primary he can think of, and an Energy Blast secondary.
Iron Man, if they had Power Armor Blast, Power Armor Support and a few of the upcoming pool powers, could work as a Blaster. You can essentially do his Hulkbuster armor now as a Tanker. I'd be more interested in some Power Armor-esque attacks as pool/epic powers for a Scrapper to model his original Mark 1 armor.
.
I thought I was pretty obviously joking. -
So you're saying my planned crusade to turn Blasters into offensive/defensive gods in-game using the Silver Surfer and Iron Man as templates is poorly thought out? Curses!

I'm not sure if it's the one you're thinking of since I've never read it, but there's also Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.

Just started watching the video, but I find it entertaining that she makes a point of extending the life of everyone watching the video by 7.5 minutes and the video's 20 minutes long.
I dunno. Just me. -

I know you ended up seeing it, but really when it's horribly hot outside is one of my favorite times to go to the theater. You get to spend ninety-plus minutes in a dark excessively air-conditioned room being (hopefully) entertained. Heck, with the theaters around here sometimes you end up wishing you brought a jacket with you it's so cold in the place.

Quote:For some reason I didn't have that issue with Martin Sheen's performance beyond the first scene he showed up in.Also feels weird to have Sally Field as Aunt Mae. Martin Sheen as well, even though I like him. I think the issue with them is they're so well known is that it's hard to see them as the character in the movie, rather than themselves.
Overall though it was a fun movie. Different from the Toby Maguire film but for me it was just as entertaining. -
I believe it was increased to, "As many as you can buy," but I have no clue where I remember them saying that. So grain of salt and all that.

Quote:That's why I said, "Well along with a kismet."You can't get to 22% on Farsight alone. You'd need to use the Kismet at the very least even as a defender. Farsight's to-hit buff is the same value as tactics for defenders.
Assuming I'm looking at mids correctly though a kismet and farsight slotted enough for to-hit gets you to 22% by itself even for a corruptor. Won't be up constantly unless you're using IOs or HOs and the like though. HOs work fantastically in it for both corruptors and defenders but titan origins only seem to work for defenders(gets you to 21.5% or so on a corruptor). Still, you can slot them at 37 I believe and they give to-hit, recharge and defense. Not terribly strange slotting I don't think. -
Quote:Huh, you know I never take the psi APP on my dominators so that was just completely off my radar. Though with time can't you get to 22% just from Farsight alone eventually? Well along with a kismet.EVERY dominator can have perma snipe. Tactics + Kismet + Link Minds. Sure that means you're pigeonhold into psi APP in some cases, just like time users are pigeonhold into powerboost/powerbuildup.
And I stand corrected. Average joe blaster can build to perma-fast snipe if they build for (I believe) 350% recharge(including enhancements). -
Quote:My only real problem with this entire thing is that for non /dev and /em blasters or pretty much any dominator it's pretty much impossible to build for perma-fast snipes. It's something that only really exists in the realm of defenders and corruptors (and the aforementioned /dev or /em blasters) and there's the chance dominators will be able to build for it through perma-domination by the end of this.As I've said earlier... I do not believe the devs intend for you to have perma-fast snipes out of the box. I believe they intend for you to build for that if you decide it is worth the investment. If you decide not to do so the snipes are still useful. Too many people here seem to believe that if the snipe is not perma-fast it is not useful. I disagree. Especially considering the number of tools available to have that fast snipe available fairly often even if not perma.
I have zero problem with perma-fast snipes being an only sometimes thing that's tied to using aim or build up(did people actually complain about having to use aim and build up? That's just silly), but why does that need to only apply to blasters and dominators? If it's supposed to be a sometimes only mechanic then let it be sometimes only for everyone or let everyone make the hard build choices to take multiple powers and slot them excessively in order to get it on all the time.
In the end we'll get what we'll get and it's no real skin off my back since all my blasters either don't have a snipe or are either /dev, /em or /mm. It just seems odd to me since on the surface it looks like it's supposed to be an occasional thing but then it doesn't have to be for two whole ATs. -

Quote:If you mean 'citizen' or what-have-you then it's generally either by post count or winning some sort of forum game. If you mean in-game then you can get them by finding 'badges'. If you go to the collections menu you should be able to select one of the ones you've found.Other thing how do you get that thing under your name and how do you get a avatar
You need to be a VIP to have an avatar. -
Quote:They still have the same HP cap as defenders even though they have the same base HP as stalkers. The HP improvement they ended up with worked more like a HP buff power than an actual change to their HP caps I think.Blaster MaxMax Health might not have changed when Blaster Max Health was adjusted upwards many issues ago.
I actually seem to recall people complaining about trying to get the damage taken badges since a portion of damage didn't count with blasters but that was ages ago.
I would have been surprised if that wasn't the case but I just thought I'd make sure. -

It's not tier as in what position in the set, it's tier as in strength of the power. So the T3 single target blasts are the next strongest single-target (non snipe or control power) blasts in a set after the first two powers. Generally speaking.

Quote:Speaking of devices. Is it possible for the engine to tell specifically if you're in combat or not and redirect to a different power if you are? For example a faster animating trip mine or time bomb that just goes off when used but does far less damage than normal when in combat but you can still use them as normal out of combat?Edit - minus the self damage, I wouldn't inflict that on Devices.
Or do you have to use a a mechanic through another power like hidden and assassin's strike? -
At the moment you can get everything aside from Hybrid by soloing in Dark Astoria. It's just extremely slow for the most part.
I imagine in the future they'll add in more solo incarnate content that allows you to unlock Hybrid and possibly some of the future slots as well. -
Quote:I wasn't really suggesting that this change makes defenders do blaster level damage. Just that if you buff defenders/corruptors enough then you'll end up with a bunch of complaining blaster players again because they feel trivialized.I assume blaster snipes do more damage than defender snipes. So damage wise blasters will still be ahead.
if defenders start competing with blasters in terms of damage done - that's an issue.
also the:
* get and slot snipe
* get and run tactics and pay the END
* 3 slot tactics
* get Kismet
is a substantial price to pay for this attack. There is nothing trivial for defenders to add this to a build.
Also I'm not suggesting that it's not a hefty price for defenders and corruptors to get fast snipes all the time (or for dominators if it ends up getting tied to domination). Just that it's a price that's completely out of the realm of a blaster that's not /dev or /em to pay and that seems a little odd to me. -
Quote:Which is fine, but if you do that then at some level you'll need to do something for blasters too. I know in the chat the other day they kind of laughed about balance suggesting that fun should be the most important factor, which makes sense, but at some point a people playing blasters aren't going to be having fun because that defender or corruptor over there's going to be so much more useful to the team and dealing similar damage to boot.Of course, I have now long argued for the damage of defenders and corruptors to be increased.
I'm not saying it's an immediate thing. Buff defenders/corruptors and blasters immediately suffer but after a point you'll end up back at the current situation with blasters. -
Quote:Hmmm, that did sound like I wanted homogenization didn't it. That's not really what I was going for.I don't think everyone has to be exactly equal, but I don't think Blasters as a whole should have any strong disadvantages relative to other archetypes.
This may actually be a good opportunity to examine things like the totally inexplicably low blaster melee tohit buff modifier, and perhaps how buffs like tactics work with regard to ally vs self buffing.
It's more that this is a change that seems like it should be at least as available to the more damage oriented ATs as it is to the more support ones if not more available to them. How it works out is (obviously) that it's more available to the support ATs due to their higher buff values. Honestly barring specific sets like devices I kind of wish the target to-hit value could change per-AT so that nobody could easily build to have it always on when solo. -
Quote:I know I'm late to this, but mostly the issue seem to be that the fast snipes only have to be situational solo for dominators and non dev (and EM apparently with a decent investment in powers) blaster. Any corruptor or defender can get there with just the leadership pool, slotting tactics and a kismet. Also there's some talk of looking into letting dominators use the improved snipe whenever domination is active.Then again there is nothing wrong with the Super Snipes being mildly situational solo, and reliable in teams.
As. Designed.
Now in order to get those all the time requires IOs to be sure and we really shouldn't design around the assumption that everyone has access to them but shouldn't it be equally possible for all the ATs to have similar access to the buffed snipes? Otherwise it ends up being more of a buff for the ATs that can get consistent access to it than it is for the average blaster and blasters are the AT that's commonly perceived to need buffing the most. -
