Okay, please be clear. By tier 3 blasts range getting upped I hear the 40 foot blast is going to 80 ft. But for fire that is the tier 7 power. Can someone unspin me?

It's not tier as in what position in the set, it's tier as in strength of the power. So the T3 single target blasts are the next strongest single-target (non snipe or control power) blasts in a set after the first two powers. Generally speaking.

Tier 3 is kind of a misnomer that stuck. Tier 1 and tier 2 blasts are pretty self explanatory. "Tier 3 blast" is usually used to mean the single target attack that has more recharge and damage than the tier 2 blast. If you hear someone say "Tier 3 power", they usually mean the third power in the set.

Okay, I still have no idea what the T3 blast that the Devs talked about is. Can someone specifically describve what the Devs consider a tier 3 blast to be?

Examples: Blaze, Lancer Shot, Power Burst, Cosmic Burst, Executioner's Shot.

Most Blast sets have 3 single-target attacks. The t1 blast is the fastest/weakest, the t2 blast is in the middle. The t1 and t2 blasts are also the first two powers in the set. The t3 blast is the third (and strongest) single-target attack, NOT the third power in the set. t3 blasts generally have 40-foot range while most other powers have 80; come i24 that short range is being extended to match other attacks.

Hmm I'm pretty sure this will work for most sets that have one. Look at whatever set you are interested in. Count single target attacks, generally this is the first two blasts. Then look for the next single target, high damage, non snipe. That's the tier 3 blast. Generally they have a shorter range. Some sets elec/ar don't have one.

This should be the complete list:

Blaze (Fire Blast)
Shout (Sonic Blast)
Bitter Ice Blast (Ice Blast)
Lancer Shot (Beam Rifle)
Executioner's Shot (Dual Pistols)
Power Burst (Energy Blast)
Cosmic Burst (Radiation Blast)

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

So, this doesn't include single-target mezz powers in blast primaries with less than 80 range?

For example, Beanbag or Tesla Cage.

At the moment and based on the information we have they are not included.

However, in the long thread where Arbiter Hawk was discussing the changes someone asked about increasing the range of the Immobilize powers in Blaster secondaries and Arbiter Hawk said he was open to the idea. So I think that there is a possibility that we convince him to increase the various blast set single target utility powers increased to 80ft. It's on my list of things to ask about in the I24 beta.

Thank you all for the responses. I wanted the clarifications 1) cause I'm kinda crazy that way 2) In case anybody else was looking for the answer.

Also thanks for adding that bit about ST mez ranges, and their possible future. I have tried to love Blasters for a long time, and the i24 changes will allow me another few months playtesting with this archetype. I would love to see them morph into something useful to me, and this appears to be a small step in the right direction at least.
