Nobody can take that away from you! You added brass knuckles to those teammates, you get to take credit for some of the damage they're doing.
QFT. A lot of people are fixated on DPS. Eventually, you need damage to take down an enemy, yes. But if that were the case, there would be no need for Controllers, Dominators, Corruptors, Defenders, etc. Crowd control, damage mitigation, buffs, and debuffs are just as valid in the total battle dynamic as DPS.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about Bruising since I went on hiatus shortly after GR launched. I wonder then if the devs would consider making Bruising non-resistible, perhaps at a much lower percentage? Or better yet, make Bruising (in its existing, resistible form) part of Gauntlet (making it an AoE) instead of attaching it to secondary attack powers. The fact that many Tanker attacks are single target, and the Gauntlet is an AoE, lessen the benefits of Bruising. In fact, I barely remembered it existed until you mentioned it.

basically i think the biggest problem they have is lack of dmg, the 1 tank i have at lvl 50 is awful to play because his dmg is pitiful, i can stay alive but it takes me so long to kill a target i start to run into end issues if there is a small mob (ice armor/stone melee)
If tankers had a minor -def or -res debuf with Gauntlet or Taunt, Tanks could do more damage without increasing their damage base, and still be helpful for the rest of the team. There's more than one way to skin a cat, as the saying goes.

    Man I screwed up

AFAIK, it will work for any IO, but will not work for the new AT-specific enhancements and (obviously) not with SOs and below. But I could be mistaken, and there isn't much info on the specifics of the mechanism.

When the Enhancement Converter comes out, you might be able to convert one or more into the unique you want (but it's random), so all is not lost entirely.
  6. There was an update to the physics engine that inadvertently gimped KB. Unfortunately, there's no ETA for a fix yet, but it's a Known Issue and will probably be higher on the fix list than other bugs.

And they are being buffed. The game being balanced around SO's is ancient history, we got a new developer team now.
You can't be serious. With the exception of Incarnate shifts, the entire game is based around SO slotting at the high end. Otherwise, Premium players would require access to the Invention system (which they don't have without an optional buy-in or subscription to VIP). Your assumption that the paradigm has changed due to a "new developer team" is false and purely based on personal bias.

Edit: as for Stalkers, IOs only amplify the base problems with Stalkers. For example, it's hard to increase HPs on a percentage if the base being increased is low to begin with (5% of what?). Stalkers "do fine" with SOs because there aren't any stat bonuses that exaggerate something that wasn't there in the outset. Additionally, the proposed I22 changes would benefit all Stalkers - those with IOs and those without. It's a poor example to prove your point.
  8. If it doesn't break the character budget (become a performance hit for other players' client machines), I'm all for it

The game is STILL balanced around SOs. And it's more important than ever before to keep it that way. A good number of new and returning players are playing through the game with no access to the things that Johnny is justifying a tanker buff with. On SOs alone, tankers survive better than anything else in the game, by a wide margin. They are the only AT that can reach the defense softcap by themselves, with no IO use at all. With no IOs, tanker's HP is much higher than brutes, because their base HP is 400 points higher. On SOs alone, there is really no comparison when you're talking about survival.

If you can prove that scrappers and brutes are reaching tanker levels of survivability on SOs alone, maybe your argument will hold some weight, but you can't justify an increase to tanker damage levels simply because a scrapper or brute can reach comparable levels of survivability when IOed up the wazoo and using Incarnate powers. You just can't.

Base it on how the ATs compare using nothing but SOs to see if a buff is justified, because SOs are the baseline performance iof the game, and are available to Free, Premium, and VIP players 100% equally.

Making changes based on performance differences using things that are not equally available to ALL players is just unfair.
I must agree. If we only consider buffing damage, especially if we start comparing IO builds, we'd just be amalgamating Tanks, Scrappers, and Brutes into ATs with little differentiation from each other.

There was a suggestion earlier in the thread about adding a damage debuf to Taunt or Gauntlet. I like this idea - the idea of Tanks and Brutes being something of antithesis of each other. With the minor exception of Brutes being able to PokeVoke (single target vs. a Tank's AoE effect), tanks should be defensive while Brutes should be offensive. Tanks can distract enemies and could debuf an enemy's damage (through Gauntlet) while a Brute increase his own damage by attacking as many enemies as possible (through Fury).

Regardless, if anything should be done to improve Tanks, let's not just glomp on damage output. If I wanted to do tons of melee damage, I'd roll a Brute or Scrapper. The main role of the Tank, IMPO, is melee control. Let's think about other things that can be done in that regard, such as debuffing enemies, instead of just playing the "increase damage" card.

So it wasn't just my crappy laptop then. Glad to know this was an issue for others too. As others have mentioned, I suspect it was caused by tech difficulties.

Nonetheless, thanks for the excellent write up VK. This was the one recap I was most interested in from the Pummit Recap
  11. Caveat emptor. Such are the nature of promotions. I remember buying an extra costume slot only to have it go on sale the next week for 200 fewer points. C'est la vie.
  12. I can only hope the Gunslinger pack was pushed back due to the less-than-enthusiastic feedback in regards to the female costume options.

War Witch: ... and that was the first time I died.
  14. My wife and mother-in-law will be saddened by this news They are both big fans of her works.
  15. I really wish the server techs would rename these servers, this is becoming the Question of the Week, not that it's the fault of the newer players involved.

That's because none of the other jackets besides the tux, trench coat, or the bolero use cape physics.

One of the rules re: player characters is that you can use a cape or wings, but not both at the same time due to character "budget" (the amount of effort required to render a character on the client).

One of the other rules is only being able to use one cape system per character (no loin cloths for player characters like the Cimerorians often use, since they have a front and back cape system).

Female avatars used to have the ability to use capes and wings simultaneously, but this wasn't working as intended and was later fixed, although it should not affect already-created costumes unless this was changed on the back end (costume validation).

Edit: regardless, and lamentably, if it has already affected your costume you will have little to no recourse with Support, as it's Working as Intended. My only advice is to see if any other available jackets (besides those with cape physics, like the bolero or the trench coat) will work with your look.
  17. When Microwave Man tested his new power suit near a group of Clockwork, the resulting storm of sparks melted him into a puddle of goo. Remember kids - always test new gadgets in a controlled environment!

  18. Mechanically, many of the unique CoT critters in CoV were developed by the CoV staff. I just don't think there was much impetus for the devs to port any over to hero side.

    *** Spoilers ***

Story-wise, the Rogue Isles are geographically close to (if not actually) the lost islands of Mu, the home of the Circle's most hated enemies, who were vanquished millennia ago. That being the case, some of the more interesting Circle demons summoned for that ancient battle still haunt the area.
  19. Yes, announced on the Known Issues before they even put the patch up. But considering the same patch fixed a lot of critical bugs, it is what it is.
  20. It's becoming a running gag
  21. Well yes, but there's a difference between having EMT / Paramedic skills and having a full-fledged doctor to set bones, write prescriptions, provide long-term treatments, etc.
  22. I smell a medieval armor set in the future...

    Armored corsets anyone?

Though didn't someone say it's an account unlock and not per character? Or was that just a suggestion?
It should be awarded with a badge for completing the trial, just like every other unlockable weapon in the sodding game. If they're going to get a costume piece, at least they could have used precedent. Having it as a random rare drop just makes it feel like an armor or weapon drop from any other grindy MMO raid ever.
