I remember back in Issue 5 when every one and their mom made a pistol scrapper and just sat around Atlas Park doing the /twirlgun emote over and over spouting lines from Dirty Harry.
Wait, frickin time machine did it again! I just erased my parents! Hmmm, that means I erased mys....

Ha ha ha, that made me LOL! Nice one.
I remember the huge mob at Icon's when Issue 2 went live, and everybody was getting their capes.
I remember thinking how amazing the capes were. Oh wait, that was just yesterday.
I remember signing on the first day, building my first hero (which I still have), while my buddy called me on the phone constantly, "Are you done yet? COME ON!" causing me to make some costume mistakes (yellow skin?) that I had to live with until Issue 2.
I remember seeing my first Devouring Earth Fungi emanator in Steel Canyon and marveling at it. It was level 30 and none of us level 15s could hit it.
I remember hitting all the zones for the first time, spending time both taking in the sights and being scared of the high level mobs I was carefully avoiding.
What I don't remember is what I did before CoH came out...

That being said, I'd love to get the devs-eye view on the Winter event, what went as they expected, what surprised them, etc. Not as any kind of apology or explanation, certainly not because I think it was a failure, just because I think it would be very interesting to get their opinions.

I'll second this motion. It would be cool to know IMHO, but thats because I love "behind the scenes" kind of deals anyway.

Maybe the "behind the scenes" commentary and outtakes will be on the next DVD version of the game.

What exactly is Global Chat for? And why should I care?

While we're talking about friends -
It'd be nice if devs fixed it where if you're teaming with people from your friends list it would not spam that they are online everytime you zone or go through a door. I know they're frickin online, we're teamed! Hello!

Make Faultline and Boomtown accessible from Talos Island. Because TI is already the travel choke point, might as well capitalize on that.

What the heck does SSOCS stand for anyways?

Jesus, you people want everything, and wrapped in a bow.
Exemplaring is the best way for me to mitigate debt on my defenders and controllers. Debt burns off =much= faster than soloing or even-con teaming.
Exemplaring also earns good influence. I'm getting double the influence for an orange boss as exemplar than I would playing regular.
Exemplaring is fun and nervously exciting. You're playing your character like you did in the old days, without all your uber powers and toggles. You have to use tactics, you can't just sit pretty and blow everything away. Keeps me on the edge of my seat, let me tell you.
Exemplaring also forces you to choose your respec powers carefully. Heh heh.

Wow, it's a shame it took a badge for people to be interested in Task Forces. And now they're almost too high and can't test it. Dripping with irony! And karma!

that is actually wrong and unnecessarily rude/insulting. I and others I know have done every mission and story arc with our characters, and done ever task force we have been able to. Its nothing to do with badges - though they have beena nice diversion while they havent been able to do anything which wil yield experience.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well it wasn't meant to be rude, but perhaps a bit insulting.
I've done every mission and story arc I could, too. And all the TFs. I've done each TF at least ten times. Once Issue 2 came out, the Manticore TF bug reared its head. I've done the TF twice since then, each time deciding to quit the TF and do it again sometime after it's fixed. But people that haven't gotten the badge (and, let's face it, that's the reason quite a lot of them are even concerned about TFs now) can't finish it and are afraid they'll outlevel before they complete it. I just find it funny that a lot of people couldn't be bothered with TFs until there was a shiny reward for doing them.
But as one poster above said, if you do level but don't train up, you'll still be at the necessary security level to run the TF again.

Blah. How can something not spawning be such a big bug?

Actually, him not spawning isn't the big bug. It's the one up the butts of the obsessive-compulsive badge hunters. <grin>

Using the programming outside of the manner in which it was intended is, at the least, an exploit. Doing it knowingly and calling it a "teleport shortcut" sounds very much like cheating to me.
And then whining about it is just crass.
You asked, I replied.

you realize that you can still do that right? if you can see a valid surface to TP to, you can do it. that hasn't changed. I only see them fixing stuff so that only what SHOULD be valid, really is. what's between you and your valid destination does not, did not, and will not matter. ever.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I don't realise that. Probably because I've tried teleporting to a valid surface through a wall, and I was unable to do it because I couldn't see that surface unless I adjusted the cam_dist variable. Pre-patch, I could actually stand on a store, look down into it, and teleport in and then out again without using the door. I also liked being able to teleport directly between the interiors of Freedom Corps and Tabitha Fabish in Talos.
Being forced to use the door now is a slightly annoying quirk, but I can live with that. I do, however, very much miss some of my long-distance mission shortcut teleports (through explored areas to quickly get back to an elevator/room) and my easy building pass-through.
I did once manage to teleport into the Mutant store in Talos. I don't know how I did it, as I have not been alble to reproduce the feat.
It's bothersome, and I don't see what the purpose was in completely destroying it rather than limiting my destinations to valid locations.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, you can't cheat any more? Yeah, I'd be pissed too! Forced to play by the rules... how rude! And don't give me none of that "heroes have ethics" crap, either!

Thing is, I'm already going to have to jump through hurdles to defeat Sky Skiffs, Warwolves, BP Spirits, and any other enemy groups that aren't common in street hunting.

Wow, last time I checked, badges weren't mandatory. I think it's funny that the powergamers zoomed to the top, complaining all the way about lack of content and that it was too easy, and now they're complaining about content they missed while they were powergaming.
I'm laughing my butt off!

I'm always surprised by what people expect their $15 a month entitles them to. But I respect their right to their opinions, valid (to me) or not.
All I can say is, I echo the original poster's sentiments. I thank Cryptic for giving me a game that has produced literally endless entertainment. I spend every non-work minute injecting the sweet high of City of Heroin.
And yes, I like my parents' basement just fine, thank you very much. It muffles my subwoofer quite nicely.
