I assume that Castle means that perception debuff powers work the same for all ATs (eg. smoke, smoke grenade, flash arrow, smoke flash, etc)

Quick notes:
We've reproduced the Knockback bug (thanks, folks!) and sent it to the programming team to deal with. So, it's on the list as of today, though I expect it is not very high priority.
Freezing Rain: Well, the POWERS were right. The problem was the Defender version was calling the Controller Rain, while Controllers were calling Defenders. My bad...it's fixed in I7.
I've not read most of your responses in this thread yet (I've been busy dealing with the deluge of PM's I got today -- a new record!) but I'll get through them by the end of the day.

Thank you for your efforts on our behalf, much appreciated, Castle. -

* Balance: Snowstorm's recharge debuff is more effective for Controllers than Defenders. ( It appears the defender version is 80% as slowing as the controller version, seems they were reversed. Dark_Pyroblast)
[/ QUOTE ]
Controllers AT modifier for Slows is higher than Defenders. I'll talk to geko to make certain this is by design.
[/ QUOTE ]
Snowstorm is -recharge and -speed.... all debuff. There's no control in there.
If it is true that defenders are about buff/debuffing and controllers are about status effects, I cannot comprehend why the controller version of snowstorm should be stronger than the defender version.
Thank you for your attention on defender issues. Hopefully this is just the beginning, and not the end of developer focus on addressing defender issues. -
War Witch (the dev) has a personal website with a real pic.
-
Thanks for your attention, Castle.
However, I'm going to withhold my enthusiasm until I see something in the patch notes. -
I noted, in the 2 months prior to I6, the average number of players logged into the Virtue server (one of the more populated servers) during "prime time" averaged about 1400 players.
Since the CoV pre-release, it averages about 2100 players. But if I search on the hero-ATs only about 700 are heroes. And the ratio of 1 hero per 3 players is consistance just about any time of the day.
I assume that the other 2 out of 3 players are currently logged in as villains.
So at a minimum, at least half of the online villains are players that were previously playing CoH, and after about 3 weeks, when the "shiny newness" of CoV wears off, and players settle back into their usual play patterns, I suspect that the overall player population will be somewhere in the 1500-1700 range. -
The global monster accuracy reduction was not enough to offset the global defense nerf.
And a 13.33% (or 12% according to Statesman's post) endurance cost reduction isn't even a fraction of enough to offset the global enhancement changes here.
But I'm quite certain our peon opinions count for nothing anymore, so I'll stop here before I say something I really regret. -

Just letting you know I have read this, and will be addressing the valid issues.

Wooo whooo! Hallelujah!
Now..... which ones does geko consider "valid issues"? -
If you have a moment..... which of the issues listed here, do you consider legitimate bugs?

Original Post edited to add "but not" - Tar Patch and Freezing Rain are classified as differently.

So... what's "classified differently" mean?
Is it because Enervating Field is a toggle, while the rest are click powers?
What's makes Enervating Field the "beneficiary" of such love? -

Well, can defenders P L E A S E get a damage increase then? In light of the controller containment feature, defenders now have, by far, the weakest offense in the game.
Otherwise, this is a defender damage nerf (it's not a controller damage nerf, since their containment feature more than compensates for it).
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you might've missed all the replies to this: Only Enervating Field was nerfed, all the other powers are untouched.
[/ QUOTE ]
I did real the other replies.

New note:
All powers that debuff Resistance have less effect than they did before Issue 5. This includes all versions of Enervating Field, Freezing Rain, and Tar Patch.

Just wait.... -

I don't mind one quicksand patch, but when they stack 6 of them in one spot, that's brutal.

Is that what happend to Mac? He was everywhere in the prebeta days, but I can honestly say I don't remember a single post from him from beta on....
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm fairly certain that Mac moved on to other games. He's a mmo junkie. Even when he was moderating the CoH pre beta boards, he was actively participating in half a dozen other mmo boards as well.
I'd guess he's probably moved on through 3-4 other mmos since. -
I remember quite a few of those doomsayers. Roland, Puffyshirt, SuperParrot/EspressoBob.
I also remember the prebeta boards where some forum members declared CoH to be vaporware. It didn't exist and never would. That the Marvel Superhero MMO would be out first and it would be infinitely better.
How many of you pre-beta folks remember Qlop (or any of his many aliases), or Avenger/Great Gazoo/Handyman?
And if you remember waaay back in the beginning, the forum member that snagged the handle "batman" who was the relentless crusader for CoH to be a free game. -
The removal of the 30% damage resistance debuff should not affect your dwarf form tanking ability, since the 30% damage resistance debuff was applied to the human form.
But the proposed reduction of kheldian hit points from scrapper-ish level to defender-ish level might affect your tanking ability. Mind you, Statesman has not said anything about the hitpoint reduction in over a month, while he did specifically address the damage resistance debuff in this thread. -

No, I understand the combi thing. Im just saying that If you need a tank: Get a tank and likewise for any of your specific AT needs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, this is a very simple-minded statement. In my experience, when you create a team, you don't have the luxury of picking and choosing this AT and that. More often than not, you try to create the best team you can with whoever is LFG at the time.

[/ QUOTE ]
Precisely. I've sat there for upwards of 45 minutes with a group of players assembling for a TF or for an attack on an Archvillain because we were waiting for a tank or an empath.
A well built kheldian can fill in several roles. He can fill in for a blaster, tanker or controller. He's not as good as any of the "true" ATs, but he can do the job well enough when you can't find the exact one you need. Or even better, if you have one of the "true" AT types and he goes down, the kheldian can fill in as needed.
This happened just the other day. I was soloing when a controller asked for my help with his mission. I was switching back and forth from dwarf to nova and back again, sometimes in the middle of the battle, doing different jobs as the situation needed.
For example, I started as a nova, opened with a single target blast to pull a bad guy. It didn't work, 4 of them aggroed and charged. The controller fired an AoE hold and got 2 minions, but the Lt and Boss went after him. I fired an AoE blast at them, injured both, knocked back the lt, but the boss was right on top of the controller. The boss pounded the controller and stunned him. I switched to dwarf and taunted the boss and lt away, kept the boss busy until the controller was able to shake the stun off. The controller fired another AoE hold and single target hold, locked down both the lt and boss and the one minion still standing, I switched back to nova and AoE blasted the bunch a couple times to finish them off.
That was pure fun. -

Hmmmm, I think "ravageur" sounds better than "scrapper" -
Quick question, Romance. Your write up describes Ripper as a single target attack. Is it a single target attack? I was under the impression that it's a melee-cone attack.
edit: never mind, I misread your description.
Thanks for the write up! -
Is it too much to wait until after the update arrives before we start panning it (smallest/lamest)?

Is the Babbage supposed to spawn in Boomtown?
In short, the answer is yes.
Does the Babbage currently spawn in Boomtown?
No this is a bug. Were working on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Did you miss that?
[/ QUOTE ]
No I didn't miss it. I am quite aware of it.
Are you aware that Babbage, until recently, has spawned in Boomtown for months?
Let me repeat. Babbage used to spawn in Boomtown.
My teammates have screenshots of Babbage in Boomtown that prove this.
This is the point of my comment. I have been playing since the 3 day headstart. I've taken a dozen different characters into Boomtown over the last 5 months and spent the equivalent of days there. And I have never seen Babbage in Boomtown (where he was supposed to spawn all the time). And yet I have seen him in Skyway many times where he only spawns for a Synapse task force. Hence the irony.

You know, if Babbage had never spawned in Boomtown, then you would have one on me. But you've failed to grasp the situation and my comment.
Babbage used to spawn in Boomtown. My teammates and friends have screenshots as evidence of this. He is not spawning there right now.
My comment is, Babbage has historically roamed in Boomtown and yet I have never seen Babbage in Boomtown. And yet I have seen Babbage many times, charging down the streets of Skyway, where he is supposed to spawn only when needed for a Synapse task force.
One of the requirements for being a smarta$s is knowning what you are talking about. You're not qualified.
You're not funny. Stop posting. -
