But do they really have to remove these badges. why cant they let us keep them and change them later. It is not like they havent done that before.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the idea is they want to add in more non-count badges, and remove some of the "Defeat X" badges that are already in the game. They don't want a select few people that would very likely include egregious exploiters in their ranks to parade around badges that are no longer available in game.
If you're actually suggesting that certain "Defeat X" badges be transformed into the as-yet-unnamed completely-not-a-defeat-X badge ... are you serious? -

You realize that Stalkers, because they have Hide, don't get the Brute/Stalker's Cloak of Darkness, instead, they get Dark Regeneration.
So, maybe, the Tanks will have Dark Regeneration instead of Cloak of Darkness.
This is why it's best to wait until Test to comment.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, considering Scrappers get both Dark Regen and CoD, I don't see exactly why tanks wouldn't get them both.
Dark Armor
Dark Embrace
Death Shroud <<this is what stalkers don't get they get shadow dweller instead
Murky Cloud
Obsidian Shield
Dark Regeneration
Cloak of Darkness << stalkers get hide instead, and earlier
Cloak of Fear
Oppressive Gloom
Soul Transfer
I think tanks should get Shadow Dweller instead of Cloak of Darkness, but other than that a straight port over from the scrapper version should be fine. -

heheheheheh.... I can't wait to crit on greater fire sword. But yeah, the brute version of fire is a whole lot less AoE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Brutes traded 1 pbaoe attack (Combustion) for 1 strong single-target attack (Cremate). It takes a special way of looking at things to call that "a whole lot less aoe."
Looking at the whole of what is coming down the pipe, there's only maybe 8-10 set combinations that I'm really interested in playing, but there's pretty much no way I'll be able to get all 8 of those new characters past level 40 before the next update anyway. -
No.
More content, yes. If the addition of new missions, story-arcs and for the love of whatever-you-hold-sacred Strike Forces, and Trials require new zones, then go for it. But empty zones are pointless and stupid, and I don't want new zones unless they come with a lot of stuff to do in them. Villains don't need more exclusive zones (and we're not likely to get them either) but we would very much like more stuff to do. I don't see what's so offensive about adding new content to red side and blue at the same time. -
I don't care as long as Scrappers get 'em. And fast-like.

1) I'm falling back on my D&D roots, but all things being equal (at zero) I think 50-50 is fine. IE: I don't have any accuracy bonuses, and my opponent has no defense bonuses I expect to hit about half of the time. I'm thinking in terms of PVP here, Heroes should have a better chance to hit mere thugs and minions. And of course, I'd expect to get hit roughly half the time.
2)Well, I'd WANT to hit every single time if I have the maximum to-hit value, but I don't realistically expect that. 95% of the time feels right to me. Getting hit nearly constantly by someone with perfect accuracy seems fair (if really painful) if I have absolutely no defense.
3)I'd want to hit them about 80% of the time, but then if I managed to perfect my defenses, I'd really only want to get hit 5% of the time.
4) Both sides maxed out, perfect accuracy vs. perfect defense, I think I should have a 40% chance of hitting them. Yes, I think defense should count more than accuracy rather than the current design of defense being much harder to acquire while being much easier to negate. -

* Some of the sets (the rarer ones), have parts of them that are only attainable by completing a Story Arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Here's my worry. There have been claims that you guys are working on a way for lvl 50s to be able to attain salvage that can only drop via story arcs (since 50s don't get story arcs anymore).
What confuses me is - how did you come up with this plan in the first place? You know there are level 50 characters. You know they can't do story arcs any more. Given those two truths you have to know that making certain salvage attainable only by completing story-arcs will essentially make that salvage all but unattainable for level 50s. Who thought this was a good idea, and why should I trust anyone who didn't see this coming to be able to come up with a solution that doesn't leave level 50s out in the cold? -
Alan Davis
Walt Simonson
Erik Larsen
Francesco
it depends a lot on which characters, My main would look great drawn by Davis or Larsen, Francesco could probably handle any of them really well, but my Wargod series of villains would have to be drawn by Simonson. -

MoG kicks [censored] if you -KNOW- how to use it. I have a 40 MA/regen scrapper, and MoG has -never- failed me. Noticing that it has failed a -50- tells me that the -50- doesnt know how to use it.
End of discussion.
[/ QUOTE ]
You've only had it for two levels. Noticing how small your relative samples size is shows me that you really don't have enough experience with the power to tell anybody else how to use it.

[ QUOTE ]
Is the only AT with access to it?
No (see Brutes)
[/ QUOTE ]
Brutes don't really have gauntlet. Brutes can place taunt enhancements into their attack powers, whereas every time tank hits something, it sends out a mini-taunt aura that can taunt any nearby enemy. Yes, that's even with single-target attacks. The range of the taunt aura is supposed to increase with level and per the damage of the attack. -
[ QUOTE ]
Sad that it's probably not going.
Good that it was reduced for scrappers and brutes if it's not going.
I hate compromises like the above.

And yeah, a Tier 9 self rez is pretty crappy, but that only makes MoG the second worst Tier nine melee defense power.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find self-rezzes more useful than a power that sucks in every real-life situation. Fact is, eventually you're going to die and self-rezzes help you get back into the fight faster than going to the hospital without relying on another player. MoG is only useful in a few extreme circumstances that I've never been able to recognize while they're happening. Properly slotting your actual Regenerative powers along with inspiration use is a much more effective way to keep yourself from dying than MoG. It's been said before, I'll say it again, a handful of lucks is far better than MoG any day of the week and twice on sundays. -

[ QUOTE ]
So, if a Melee attack rated at 'High' does 100 damage, a 'High damage Ranged attack could be expected to do 66 damage before slotting.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is confusing. Why not just say the ranged attack does 'moderate damage?'
[/ QUOTE ]
QFFE - yes, the second F is what you think it is. If a "high" damage ranged attack does only moderate damage for a melee AT, but a high damage melee attack does Extreme damage for a ranged AT (unless it's a defender - which isn't a ranged AT it's a support AT) then there is something seriously, fundamentally wrong with the system. Numbers or nothing, cuz this monkey business isn't, hasn't been, and never will work. -
[ QUOTE ]
"Windows XP has better support for games and comes with more games than Windows 2000." What does this mean? Why does it have better game support? Both OSes can run DirectX9.0c, so what is 2K missing? In my quick search this morning, I'm not finding much. The funny part of it is, by doing the work to yank all of XP's bells and whistles, you end up with a slightly updated, retooled Win2K.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup, just cuz Bill Gates keeps saying it doesn't make it true. I mean, don't they use most of the same drivers, even? -
I'm in almost full and complete agreement with everything Bill has said, however, I use Windows 2000 SP 4 for a variety of reasons (It's more stable than XP being my primary reason) including XP's notoriety as bloatware. Nothing I've seen or heard from anyone else, nor my own personal experience has convinced me to switch back to XP (after making the switch from 98 to XP, I eventually moved to 2000 and have been happy here). Yet, every so often I hear claims that XP is better all around. It hogs more resources on startup just to idle (more for windows means less for games) and is less stable. What am I missing?

Scrappers out damage blasters in melee. Blasters AT mod is 1, while scrappers is 1.125. Scrappers also get unresistable criticals of 2x damage 5% of the time, which can be compared to Blasters 33% unresistable damage.
Energy Melee's Stuns coupled with toggle dropping pretty much make the damage a secondary effect. While the blasters (who have little or no mez protections) are used to functioning with break frees active, most scrappers are not, as they rely on their inherent protection powers to keep them safe.
In other words, despite your toggle powers protections, pretend you don't have them and prepare based on that -- because those protections will be knocked down at some point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you saying they are going to be nerfing powers like Intergration and other mez protections for melee powersets so they are unreliable?
Not to put too fine of a point on it, or offend anyone. But screw that. Why not just scrap those powersets altogether. Idiot ideas like this is what's killing this game and driving people away. I have more to say on the subject but at this point I dont want to risk smackdown by Cuppajo.
[/ QUOTE ]
I went and made the important line BOLD and RED
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Energy Manipulation is just bonkers. Any set that has that much stuns should actually deal LESS damage than other sets and have LESS of a chance to drop toggles instead of MORE in both cases. Fire should either have the greatest de-toggle chance or highest damage, Energy should have it's de-toggling ability reduced for sure, and possibly deal less damage (relatively speaking) to boot. I don't know about the others. -
Scrappers typically have 1 or 2 High/Superior damage attack, so they have to either make use of Hasten/recharge enhancements (at the cost of endurance) to be able to increase their DPS.
Blasters ranged attacks also happen to be just as effective in melee as they are at range (Power Blast, Blaze, Etc.) so they have more OMG!tehPonies!! attacks to choose from when constructing a lethal attack chain. Blasters that make use of both their primary and secondary powersets when building an attack chain have an alpha strike that can end a fight with most scrappers. Especially if luck is on their side. -
Right now the animation on HF is so long, that by the time it finishes "healing" you, you're quite likely to be at lower health from taking damage than when you clicked it. Most days you're better off running and hiding. Annoying for a brute, anathema to a tank.

IF we were to ever add a way to get Isolator post-Tutorial, it would most likely be incredibly hard to get. Annoyingly hard. Irritatingly hard. There-would-be-a-zillion-people-asking-to-make-it-easier hard.
But IF we were to add it, it would be available nonetheless.

Ooooohhhh...... I get it now. You're just going to hand it out to anyone who's completed the Cavern of Transcendence Trial. Gotcha. 'Cuz click-eight-blinkies-at-once is the most annoying thing I've ever heard of. The only thing worse is if you had to do that multiple times just to get one badge.
Whose idea was the Transcendence trial? -

I was sooooo tempted to report that as offensive content. I may yet. -
They need to phase out a significant amount of Longbow and phase in Paragon City SWAT. Natural/Tech enhanced semi-heroes especially trained and equipped to deal with Super-Powered villains.
-
Yeah, Jailbird's been in since beta, and tons easier to get than isolater. No dice, pal.

Kinda like Snaptooth hard? Times twenty? IE, a mission where one, just one Contaminated spawns as an elite boss at the end of the mission? And it could be a mission inside one of those hideous lag-fest maps of doom known as Arachnos labs? So you'd have to run that mission 100 times to get isolator? Like that kind of annoyingly stupid hard? And make it timed while you're at it, so you wouldn't be able to outlevel it to try and make it easier one time.
EDIT: OH! OH! Even better! Make it a "Keep Contaminated from escaping." mission. That way there's a chance you could run the mission, and NOT get one kill in!
