I seem to recall some meteor craters in AP during an Ouro arc. Perhaps they'll rework it when the Coming Storm finally gets here.
More generally, I'd love to see more zone revamps. I really wish Boomtown had got one to coincide with the return of the 5th in I15, but there's a lot of blueside zones that would benefit from it... most of the hazard zones, the Shard, of course... even some of the regular zones. Redside, other than there not being enough of it, is pretty good as it is... though St. Martial has never really clicked with me. Just doesn't seem to live up to its potential. Not enough gangster glitz. Too many Wailers. -
Well at least people won't be complaining that the zones are empty.

Quote:Or even before the movie comes out. I've seen an even higher than usual number of shield carrying super soldiers recently.Heck every time a new super hero movie comes out theres a bunch of clones running around for about a month or so until the GM's get them all genericed.
No xXThorXxs though. Not high profile enough or is it just that War Mace really that bad? -
Quote:The mission description doesn't provide any dialogue that leads up to the mission acceptance or the debriefing text. The first time I ran the Reichsman SF I'd lost track of the story by the end of the second mission and spent the rest of the SF with basically no idea what was going on.You can follow the story as well by clicking on the mission description icon in the navigation dialog. The problem is finding the time to pause and do so while everyone is running on to the next mission entrance.
TFs have the worst story telling mechanics in the game (and throw in the common tendency to speed-run to twist the narrative even more out of shape) which is one reason why I'm less than enthused by the fact that, at present, the Incarnate/Praetoria story is being continued entirely via TFs and Raids. -
Will he be from the planet Zeist?

Running a low level mission against PPD the other night I noticed that undercover PPD have a new set of single pistol attacks, rather than the MM dual pistols they used to have. Not sure when that changed, it's been a while.

If /Poison was an AT it'd be a Stalker - devastating against single targets but not really bringing anything special to a group. I like the set and have played it to 50, but it is flawed in a couple of ways.
Quote:I really like this idea. Antidote as is is decidedly meh. This sounds fun and trippy.Antidote = It's fine, but should mesh with Alkaloid. Should be replaced with Halucenigen. = Confusion with a -Defense thrown in for good measure.
Poison Trap is just rubbish. An AoE sleep that the pets will wake 'em out of in seconds, and an 'infrequent' hold effect. For a tier 8 power that's pathetic and a waste of a power pick. Is there really a good reason why we can't just get /traps version, considering it's only tier 6 and is far far better? -

I'd like to see an either/or option for things like the intros to Wincott and Seer Marino, giving you the choice of whether you go and see them or continue with your existing contact. New players would click on Yes anyway, while veterans will already know if they feel like taking a particular alt through those missions.
In general, the original Blueside 1-40 content deserves a revamp. Not all at once of course, but even one zone at a time would be great - it would also encourage people to actually run that stuff, rather than using AE or solely speed running TFs to level up, and would be a way to revitalise a lot of the existing enemy groups purely through story arc design - no new art or enemy models required (though those would be cool too.)
Praetoria is a fantastic example of what we could have, and even Redside still holds up pretty good (if only there was more of it) but Blueside is just a heap of bland contacts with not very interesting missions and who all sound the same. -
I'm not tired of Praetoria yet. I think it's interesting to see a single storyline expanded over several issues - which we haven't seen before. If they can do it for this then they'll do it (I hope) for The Coming Storm and the Shadow Shard. Perhaps even the Rikti (I still want a Rikti Homeworld zone.)
Quote:No no no. Never. NCSoft/Paragon Studios have hit a pretty sweet spot with microtransactions with the booster packs - nice to have, but by no means essential, and they don't piss people off, which is no mean feat for any P2P.These would, of course, cost the company a bit more to staff the extra people needed for this idea. I would suggest, to alleviate costs, they charge us $1 for each 'one-shot' TF they put out. They could launch one between each issue so we have a new One-Shot approx. every 4 months as well as an issue. That way we are getting a steady diet of new stuff
I'd pay for a new zone, a new Redside zone, with new art, new enemy groups and 10 levels of story arc content - an expansion in other words. I'd pay for that in an instant. Try and charge extra for anything less than that and I'd cancel both my subs without a second thought, because this isn't a F2P. -
I'd be very very surprised to see customised Incarnate pets. They don't have the means as it stands, and if they do work out how to do it then it would be inexcusable not to apply it to Masterminds first.
However if they want to do this at the same time as they introduce MM pet customisation then sure, go for it -
Quote:How about you remember that you're a player like the rest of us and you stop trying to moderate the thread? If you've got a problem with people bringing up relevant concerns about the all-team all-the-time focus of this issue and if you think that's off-topic, then report me to the mods. See how far that gets you.Oh no! They're not being heard!
How about in the thread the mods started for them and not every single other thread about content or the future of the game?
I'll repeat myself from an earlier post - this is a thread to discuss the I20 announcement, not merely to unquestioningly praise it.
Edit: the defensiveness of some people in this thread surprises me. The devs are grown ups who get paid to do a job. They don't need you guys riding to their defence every time someone dares to say they find something disapointing. -
Yeah, I've seen this being brought up a few times in this thread. All I can say is I'll believe it when I see it.
I seem to recall a lot of very similar wishful thinking in the run up to I15, and what came of that.
If they're trailering a badge fix and some expanded zone to zone travel options I really don't think they're holding much back. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I'd have been happy to be proven wrong about I15 as well. -
Quote:If it's not going to be brought up in a thread discussing an issue with zero solo content, when should it be brought up?What *I* would like is for you and Eiko and the handful of solo-only-ists to stop making *every* *single* *thread* about the near or far future of the game about "Devs hate soloists."
Quote:But you know what? Each time you make your case I and others will be there to point out how extreme it is and how absurd it is for an MMORPG. -
Quote:I'm with Sam on this one, and I don't see what he's saying as needlessly provocative at all. This is a thread for discussing the I20 overview, not for merely blindly praising it. Fact is, there is nothing in this issue for people who dislike forced teaming, absolutely nothing. That's not an opinion or an argument, that is a fact.We talked recently about this. I've been holding my tongue and not really arguing against you with the stridency that I am known for. But I feel at this point that you are being needlessly provocative for someone who claims to not like arguing on the forums.
If you continue down this patch of arguing against what I believe are very positive changes to the game, then I shall respond in kind.
Now, onto hypothetical speculation... If the devs are planning on focusing heavily on team based content going forward then I think it's a terrible mistake. The game is 7 years old, with a playerbase that is by most estimates smaller than it was even two years ago when I signed up, and if you want to draw attention to the low pop on some servers there's no better or faster way to do so than to release a lot of forced teaming content.
I was on Triumph on sunday morning, villainside. There were SEVEN players showing up on Search, throughout the entirety of redside. I'm not buying it that there were that many more on /hide.
Yeah, more TFs are probably being run at the moment, because the Weekly Task Force bribes people to do them - seriously, people aren't running Sister Psyche over and over because it's fun. The new stuff is probably being run a lot as well, because it's new and shiny...
... but what happens a year from now, or two years? How easy will it be to put together 12 or 24 players for the BAF when everyone is pushing their mains through the 9th and 10th tiers of Incarnate content, or the 3rd and 4th for that matter? Yeah, people have alts, but the number of people who'll be grinding multiple alts through the incarnate process is going to be relatively limited... and split up across 11 servers.
I can see a situation down the line where a lot of this stuff becomes like the raids in WoW Vanilla and BC... dust gatherers that most people skip because there are better, faster ways to get to the level cap, or should I say incarnate cap. So we'll be left with a bunch of Caverns of Transcendance - old, increasingly obscure content with stupid group requirements, or the Eden trial, with its antiquated and now worthless rewards.
I'm not saying that will happen, but this is an MMO, and you need to take a long view of content in an MMO, unless we do want this to turn into another "The game starts at 50" grindathon, which would be a tragic waste of potential. -
That's nice. Now point out to me the part where I said everything has to be soloable.
-
I want the devs to remember that one of the strengths of this game is its soloability. There is absolutely nothing in this Issue that isn't group based.
-
Um... that's it?
I don't have any incarnate level characters, nor am I likely to any time soon. That's fine, that's my decision, and I knew that these next few issues would be dominated by the shiny new endgame, which is necessary. I don't have a problem with that.
(And I do quite like the in-world justification for the Praetorians now being a lot more powerful. Nicely done.)
But... when the only new non-Incarnate content is two TFs I have to say I'm utterly underwhelmed. As a technical and gameplay challenge TFs can be fun, but as story experiences they fail completely.
I love the world of CoH/V, but an issue in which all of the announced new story content is team only is deeply disapointing.
I20: United we stand, divided we... do old content. -
I have a black & red hero, does that count? Actually more than one... 3 or 4, I think.
And 12 villains, but most of them are demon themed. Does it count if the red is skin tone?
Actually that's less than I expected. Gosh, I feel all original now.

New zone? New zone?
Pleasebeavillainzonepleasebeavillainzonepleasebeav illainzone...
...
I'm guessing probably notbut cool.
But I really really want a new villain zone anyway. -
I have rolled a fire/kin, purely due to its notoriety as the farm build, but I'm not planning on farming with her.

Quote:I've been running several low level heroes recently and can confirm that Vahzilok still hurt a lot. It's not just the scary toxic damage, but stacking slows when you only have a two or three attack powers is just nasty. I've been keeping a tally of how often I've been defeated by each enemy group and the Vahz are currently easily in the lead.It was getting a Science Invuln. Tank to lvl 10. Vahz HURT back then. A lot.
One of these days I'll get to fight Doctor Vahzilok. One of these days...
OT: the +1 spawns, yeah I've noticed quite a lot of them. I can't recall if it was like that when I started in late 08 - don't think it was because I played awful back then (Hey, is it okay that all my enhancement numbers are red? What do insps do? What is the blue bar for?) and I suppose it could be quite harsh on new players - although after Praetoria just about anything on red or blueside is easy by comparison. -
Yup, pets have always been quicker to target enemies. Setting my MM's pets on Agressive during a Rikti invasion they'll start firing while the Rikti are still porting in and untargetable by players (unless you target through the pets.)
Of course during an invasion event any self respecting MM should by too busy doing /e dance to bother targetting anything. Why keep a dog and bark yourself? -
"I'm really looking forward to working with your iconic signature characters... Batman, Superman..."

Log into Champions Online and troll zone chat, because obviously it'd be their fault!
Um... or alternately go work on my Steam list. -
John Bulll, on Protector, about a year ago, is one I'm very pleased with.
I've been rebooting my roster recently and adding some new characters, and for a new superdyne powered tanker I got Internet Troll, on Freedom*, but the real surprise was two days ago when I snagged Angel of Mercy, on Virtue (!) Absolutely couldn't believe that.
*his battle cry will be "U Mad, Bro?"
