Quote:I was going to ask you about her costume. I thought it was different, but couldn't remember if I'd teamed with that character yet. It may not be what you planned but I don't think you can go wrong with a cheerleader outfit.10/12/2010
Friday
Made a new costume for Mystery Girl (50 vigilante emp/pistols defender); my original intention was to make some kind of femme fatale look, but this somehow ended up looking like a cheerleader outfit. Oh well. I still kinda like it.

Teal Serpent (34 villain arrow/traps corruptor) joined a team that fought off a zombie apocalypse in Port Oakes. Then I solo'd 2 villain tip missions, before joining a 3-player team that did 2 rogue tip missions and a rogue morality mission. This left Teal's alignment bars kinda schizophrenic looking, but did get her to level 35. I took trip mine for her level 35 power.
...
One of my first characters was an AR/Dev blaster so I like trip mine. Looking forward to getting it on my Mastermind.

After that, I played Mystery Girl on a LGTF. We mostly cleared missions 1 and 2, then tried to fail mission 3 but it took awhile to get Infernia killed, she really put up a fight. During mission 4 one of our 2 dominators got disconnected, making it hard to hold the green mitos and painful to kill them, but we eventually got them. Cleared the way through mission 5, to finish the LGTF in 1h 29m.

Solo'd with Kashira (32 villain db/ninj stalker) a bit. I've been pondering whether to reroll her as a dual blades scrapper, since scrappers seem so much better on teams than stalkers, but I have a lot of scrappers already, so I haven't done this yet. The stealth is pretty nice for soloing. Maybe I just need a respec or something.
...
I'm not sure about Dual Blades. I've only played it up to level 10 on a scrapper, but I wasn't overly fond of it. I know some like it, but maybe it's the powersets that are giving you that reroll urge? I know some people dislike the stalker combos too. -
I'll echo the others on Rad/Fire. I started a traditional blapper with nrg/nrg but haven't gotten him past 14, my Fire/Rad is 33 or so and lots of fun. He can really crank out the orange numbers but very much a glass cannon, a melee range glass cannon. Solo I turn down enemy level so I can kill quick. Much safer teamed, but even then I have to be careful when I sidle up to the tank to use my PBAOEs.
So far for AOE I have Irradiate, FSC, and Neutron Bomb, plus Electron Haze, but I don't use that one as much. I mostly use haze on the way into the spawn. Oh, and Atomic Blast of course. I skipped Combustion as the 3s cast time turned me off. I tried it for a level or two early on, but dropped it pretty quickly. Eventually I'll have Hot Feet and Burn as well. I'm also planning to take the Fire epic for theme and of course Rise of the Phoenix to turn my inevitable deaths into a chance for more AOE.
I like to alternate Aim and Build Up to keep the damage rolling.
Quote:When I planned my build in Mids I decided to do this. I skipped Blazing Aura due to the ridiculous end cost and small AOE. All of my other AOEs are 10 to 20' radius. I figure Hot Feet alone with it's 20' radius is enough on top of my other AOEs. Things tend to die pretty fast as is.I would strongly encourage anyone playing /Fire manip to skip Blazing Aura. Possibly after you get a bunch of IOs slotted (especially the +recovery/end procs), it may be worth adding, but even then it is doubtful. It costs too much end for such a small radius and smallish damage ticks.
I do have this power on two of my /Fire manip blasters. I am constantly trying to find a better replacement, but so far for my playstyle, BA still works OK. On the level 50 that is fully IOd (including a bunch of purples) I still have modest end issues, but it is manageable. On the level 40 slotted with commons and SOs, I am barely able to function unless I have a teammate that can make the end bar problem better or unless I turn BA or HF off. HF is the better power, so BA is the one I shut off. -
Quote:...I do love the power, but is it wrong that my favorite use of it comes during the 52 card pickup part of the /em cardtrick animation?
Ok, from now on I will be casting card trick and Hob every 60s or so. (And I'll throw in Build up if I happen to be fighting enemies at the time.) -
Yeah, that was bad. I was on a blaster, but with the FF and Traps bubbles I had between 6 and 17 stun protection and was still getting stunned. There were WP scrappers and Dwarf form Khelds that got stunned too.
-
Quote:I take it for the knockup and damage, and most importantly, because it's fun. I love slamming enemies into the roof and letting them fall, or just throwing them up so high they go off the edge of the screen. By they way, 4 level 21 kinetic crashes, gives enough height on even con enemies to almost hit a warehouse map roof.Speaking of Levitate...
I'm running a Mind/Elec Dominator right now and so far I just haven't seen the need for Levitate. I've tried the power, I know what it does. Does anybody have strong feelings about it? There's already so many single target controls a Mind Dominator can throw down on a boss, I don't really see much about Levitate that really compels me.
I usually slot 4 kinetic crash for the kb protection and then frankenslot the last two to improve the damage. The 7.5% recharge is tempting, but I like maxing my damage. -
I'll be there. Look forward to seeing you both there Gel and Geronimo.
-
Thanks folks.
I think you may need more candles on that cake though. -
I can't think of any I've made based solely on the name. If I think of a really good one I might see if it's available, but I don't make characters with random ATs or powersets. I always have a couple ideas in mind for powerset combos I'd like to try so I'll match the cool name to one of those. I usually just write the name on the list if I think of a good one.
Quote:Nice, you even got the meatbag reference in there. Heh, and after I got through reading all the translated text I saw your note that it was translatable.Once I realized Silver Scourge was free on Virtue, it took me... oh... about 12 tries to match the name up with a concept I liked before I ended up going -back- to a Bender-ish Bots/FF MM.
Heh, reminds me, the virtueverse bio page is here. -
My characters are probably about evenly split between sj and fly. I think the no travel power characters aren't far behind, and I only have one or two with super speed.
I find super jump is fun and fast, and fly is fun, but not quite as fun as sj, and easy to use. I don't like super speed very much for some reason. -
I have an axe/wp brute, currently up to 48. It's fun but Axe seems end heavy. I have Quick Recovery and Stamina and still get my blue bar dropping. However, I am currently still on SOs, and have all WP toggles, plus fighting. It will likely improve when I start slotting IOs and get better end redux in my attacks.

Here's the current build for my SS/inv. The only thing I don't have so far is the purple damage proc for boxing. I procced boxing out to give me something to hit with that might do damage during a rage crash. He's pretty survivable, capable of tanking the ITF as long as I use Orange inspirations against Romulus until the Auto hit nictus dies.

Code:I've been really happy with this build. The most recent change was the Foot Stomp slotting. I added the 2 purples and frankenslotted it to fit the +rech proc while keeping good enhancement numbers. As long as I keep using Stomp (and why wouldn't you?) Once we get free Fitness I'll move a bunch of powers like Fighting earlier, and add Unstoppable back in. Then I'll probably add Stealth, and maybe Hand Clap for fun. -
Quote:Doh! I guess we both missed clearly stated parts of this thread.I had the MM temp power (even mentioned it here in the topic
)...I got to use it like 2-4 times but that was about it.
Edit: Oh and now I have made the connection between Fitz and his toon(s) in game....didn't know he was Crusha
I know my way around LRSF/Barracuda (especially now with the tips/the dry runs) but always welcome more help -
Quote:I got the brute power because I was a brute.Yeah I know that may have been an issue. Since we were almost all hero ATs, I know I didn't know how hero ATs correlated to the villy ATs in this SF....Defenders get the MM temp power of stopping Reichs' "godmode" power...beyond that I'm not sure what others got. I think you (the tanker) said you got the brute one (+regen/end ?)...
Quote:No temp powers needed. Just go with enough damage and 2 debuffers and you're golden.
The stalker power is nice but you won't get all the ambushes with it.
Now an MOLRSF, I doubt a PUG team will be able to do it but if I'm around and I see it posted up in LB I'll help out with it.
I don't remember our exact team makeup on that last run, but I think we were a bit light on debuff. We did pretty well against Reichsman, and we had enough debuff and damage to kill him, but it took a while. We did well at first, but as the ambushes built up we stayed focused on Reichs, and eventually there were just too many and people started dying.
Based on this thread the list of hero=villain match ups for powers seems to be this, but I can't confirm.
Scrapper: Stalker
Tank: Brute
Blaster: Corruptor
Controller: Dom
Defender: Mastermind -
Quote:Oh yeah, I remember that run, we got a little overzealous and started charging things, which caught up with us on Numina and her LB friends.Ah okay.
When we did the MoBarracuda, we were all trying to take down Reichsman (granted at this point it didn't matter because we died against Numina (should have pulled, but we didn't)). We had our two tankers (1 brute, 1 tanker) survive pretty much the entire time but everyone else died eventually. Once all the ambushes were gone we took Reichsman down.
That wouldn't have been a bad idea....have a tanker just taunt Reichs while the other take out the ambushes...I wasn't sure how many ambushes came/how that all worked out.
I've read somewhere that supposedly if you taunt/take Reichsman to the SE corner of the map that ambushes don't come down there....any truth to that? *shrugs*
I was the brute on that run, eventually after the ambushes kept killing all the squishies off, I gave up on Reichs and started clearing the ambushes up. The tank eventually died while he was solo against Reichsman. Once everyone got back we finished clearing the ambushes and then finished Reichsman off.
Having a stalker, or whichever hero AT gets that ability, means we can insta-kill all the ambushers if they start to build up. I can bring either my ss/inv brute, the same one from that last MoBarra attempt, or my stalker. -
I'm interested in this, I have 2 brutes and a stalker in range, and only one of those has the regular LRSF and Barracuda badges, let alone Mo.
-
Yeah, you don't get dropped from the team for going to the other side. I haven't done it during a TF yet (so far I've remembered that Ouro goes to the other side), but after TFs I've Ouro'd out and still been on the team till I quit.
-
I don't know, certain kinds of wife aggro could be good too.
Not sure if I'll be on for this, but if so I have some that need it. -
Quote:I noticed the same thing on the Positron mission with the clones. They seem able to use up to level 32 powers at least, if not higher. It makes it rather tough when you're limited to level 15 to 20 powers.Even though that is a lower-level arc, and my Crab (who was flashbacked) did not have access to any of his pets...somehow ALL HIS CLONES DID. As the clones start popping out of the woodwork, I eat a few inspirations and prepare to go to work.........and my jaw just dropped as they all started summoning Arachnos disruptors and spiderlings.
Quote:Well I don't know what AT/powerset combo might be the hardest to face in an Army of Me 8-clone scenario, but I can report an encounter that was strangely trivial. I took my level 50 Fire/Rad Controller (fully Purple IO'd) through the Ouroboros version of that mission and she managed to kill all 8 of her clones in literally about one minute. I don't really know if I should be happy about that or not.
Basically all I did was pop my big Accolade powers (Demonic/Force of Nature), drop a breakfree and Smoked them first. When I charged in I simply managed to hold most of them with my AoE Mez powers and let my Imps/Hot Feet chew through them.
It was all soberingly anticlimactic to say the least. -
This isn't limited to blue side, sometimes people just forget, or don't notice. A few weeks ago I was slightly ahead of the team to check around the corners of an intersection on an Oranbega map with my stealthed huntsman. I announced the bosses and succubi, and a friend followed me and aggroed the enemy. This is someone with lots of experience on both sides, and someone who knows all about stalkers, VEATs and stealth. We defeated both spawns, but that player died, and then made a comment about forgetting not to follow a stealthed character.
-
I agree Ukase, even pre GR if we ended up sharing a time, we might get 2 teams for an event instead of 3 or 4, but it's still no problem.
-
Gratz [Rock.mar], also Weresloth is a great name.
-
I'll be there
-
I've heard that's changed recently. They no longer hand out the badge individually. Now you get a response that says it's a bug and you'll get the badge automatically when they fix it.
-
Lift and Levitate are lots of fun with knockback enhancements. I like to use 4 level 21 Kinetic Crash for the knockback protection, 109% KB enhancement and then frankenslot the last 2 slots to round out damage and accuracy. With that slotting I can almost make an even con enemy hit the roof in a warehouse map, and bounce them off any lower ceilings.
