    The toon is a brute tho. The problem with building for Psy res/def is that you already have to reach Def cap (hopefully incarnate cap) to other damage type, manage to have enough Global to run a proper attack chain and than... well thats a lot already.
    Now Fill the Hole or Screw the Hole? Thats a question that I will mostly have to think about when the toon is 50. Now I'm just passed 30 and play with a Kin/Water fender, since a friend is joining us soon I was wondering what set would be the best.

    What partner would be the best for an Invul melee?
    Dark/ fender because of the 20% psy res (unenhenced but still, looks low) and molto control+debuffs?
    or X-troller just because CCed mobs do not hit back?

  6. My brother and I playing TW/Invul Brute and Kin/Water Fender lately. Fantasy/Armored vampires, not Gothic horror/White Wolf -like.
  7. I am trying to understand where water blast stand in term of damage and debuff efficiency.

    All attacks seems pretty low DPA but I really dont know how much Tidal Power affects the overall dps. Hydro, Aqua bolt and Dehydrate looks standart/bad DPA for baster single target attacks; Water Jet is quite bad compared to other short range/long cooldown blaster attacks but the way it works with Tidal Power may change the deal (how much?).

    Also how much extra damage Water Burst gets from each Tidal Powar stack, therefore in an AoE situation should I throw it on cooldown or wait for Tidal Power x3?

    Wirlpool seems to be a perfectly standart "rain" power.

    Steam Spray is as bad as Fire and Cold breathes.

    Geyser looks very good but is maybe just close to futur crashless blaster nukes.
  8. 1- Should I wait for 100% crit chance for AS or is it worth it to just build a rotation on it?
    2- Caltrops looks like a freaking good DPA attack, should I throw them on timer on static targets (objects)?

    Higher ToHit on incarnate content (not juste trials) didnt make def worthless. Its just that you need more to hit soft cap. If it ever changes the balance it does it in favor of the high def sets with large DDR like SR or SD because high resist sets are very harder to def softcap.

    SS is still one of the best damage set. Large and powerfull AoE, massive KD, fine ST chain with Gloom and Rage.
    So if you were happy with SS/SR before, you will be at least happier now.

    Just did that, love it. Its abit hard on endo from when you have a complete attack chain till when you have Energize and Power Sink.
    TW seems to be hard on endo for anyone anyways, Elec is probably one of the best trade for a brute. 90% Energy resist will get you trough plenty of things, Clockworks are a joke, you negate a lot of Rikti, Lost, 5th columns, Freakshows, Pretorians...

    Just looked at the build you posted.

    It's SEVERELY compromised for non-S/L damage. The big damage types coming out of Incarnate content are S/L/E/N with some F/C coming in the solo/small-team content.
    So anything tossing S/L will only hit you on lucky shots. But everything else is going to tear through you like wet tissue paper. And that's BEFORE the nasty debuffs.

    Your defenses/resists are grotesquely overslotted and you're consuming 75% of your endurance production *at rest*. Meaning you run out of endurance after a couple attacks.
    As such, you're pretty much going to HAVE to slot Cardiac for your Alpha.
    I see your point.
    But seriously Invul has nearly 0 DDR, standing under 50% def in incarnate content means defense debuffs from Energy and Lethal will start hitting right away, leaving you pretty much defenseless after alpha strike. At that point Ancients of Desire and Seers will just blow me like a dandelion.


    PS: Same thing on Hopeling's build besides I'd go for more recharge like him than for much recovery.

    Problems are :
    - I'm not happy with such low elemental res.
    - I'm not happy with low recovery. Even if I'm using Ageless it may still be an issue.


    You cant really "Screw Psy hole", Invincibility and Tough Hide havent any positional defense. If you start building for ranged/AoE on an Invul toon you pretty much negate you best defense powers. Now I may not "build properly", I probably wouldnt ask for help if I was.

    Thank you. Any numbers on the haste percentage? Whats the standart rotation?
    I'm guessing since everyone talks about accuracy and kill steal that your attack has to hit something to start momentum.
  18. AR and Archery T9 are nice. Better than most nukes considering the recharge and end drain.
    This still have average/bad DPA, Firaball alone is just crazy good. Like I said the best AoE would be imo AR/TA but considering the powerset alone Fire is supperior due to higher DPA.
  19. Generally speaking Resist > Defense because its possible to reach (at least) Smashing/Lethal softcap with a Resist based set whereas its nearly impossible to have a reliable amound of damage resist with gear.

    Resist is also VERY hard to cap and is usefull till hardcap (90% on a brute). On a defense set, passed 50%ish, every extra defense buff will be lost on PvE (or only fighting vs defense debuffs).

    BUT:
    - Mind that Incarnate Softcap is very harder to reach.
    - High def sets also have a large portion of DDR (Defense Debuff Resist) which you cannot find on resist sets.
    - All resist sets have a weakness which can really blocks you on some missions or AV.
    - Some sets are "Heal" based, they also can be S/L softcaped and tend to have less weaknesses than resist sets. They also tend to be more steady untill you reach a (quite high) cap of incoming damage when you just get mashed down.
    - Some sets have high resistance AND defense, if you want to play the toughest **** possible I would advice to go for these.
  20. Fire: Has the best AoE damage and fine ST chain.

    Dark: Has notverygoodbutberable AoE and kick *** ST (notably a wide choice of damage procs, and thats a lot of damage itself).

    AR: Is not great overall but it becomes godly AoE combined with TA.

    Sonic: Is the best ST damage on earth as soon as you arent solo.

    Energy Blast: Is only good to stack recharge procs but I would only advice that on a Defender with a recharge intensive support power set.

    Rad and DP: Stands in between Fire and Sonic for both pure damage and indirect damage.

    Archery and Beam Riffle: Look cool. But thats it.

    Elec and Ice: Has a top ST chain and a Hold. AoE arent amazing.

    Psy Blast: Is kina crap unless your goal is to kill AVs under Unstoppable.




    So if you want only direct damage with good AoE and ST, yeah go Fire.
    If you are willing to trade direct for more indirect damage or AoE for control... than it starts to be a more complicated choice.

    Thats my point. The problem with Defense debuffs its that they dont only come from S/L powers. If you consider the whole game you could indeed think that you are generally fine with S/L cap but incarnate concent has a L0T of unconventional powers and Energy, Negative and Fire based defense debuffs arent rare at all. Not to mention incarnate soft cap seems to be close to 50%.

    So unless you are /SD or /SR and lucky you *will* get defense debuffed. Which leads us to damage resist. Sincerely I dont know where the good balance is but I find 45% S/L in incarnate stuff not much more survivable than 30% M/R for solo and when buffs hit, quite less.

    Its like Psy res, as it is for defensive sets, its rare on support sets. 0nly DM (and the new dark support thing for trollers) will give you Psy res, and not loads if you have 0 youself. Its not that rare to die on a Single Seer boss in an incarnate trial. Then again I have the feeling sacrifying one enhencement per resist power isnt a huge price for 20ish psy res but I may be wrong.

    To be very honnest I'm trying an Invul Brute with full Psy res (you can reach 41%) because all in all /FA has become very more squishy with higher soft def cap and commonly used exotic damage types (which is a good thing for the game balance imo).

    - Noone seems to take Defensive Sweep in their builds (Parry-like powers seemed to be pretty much must have one low defense secondaries)

    - Everyone seems to take Titan Sweep but numbers looks ridiculously bad. It looks worste than Slice (BS) which is already pretty ugly.

    - What's the classic rotation on TW build? RA/FT/AoD/FT/CB/FT? Recharges seem to be very long but animations also...

    - How horribly bad is to include outset powers like Burn or Gloom (for Brute) in ST rotations (redraw)?

    - How is the powerset performing compared to Kat, DM, BS and other classics?

    Toon1 and Toon2 have a leveling pact.
    PLer PL Toon2.
    Toon1 levels up whithout being online.

    A) What if Toon1 and Toon2 have an xp booster?
    B) What is Toon1 have booster and not Toon2?
    C) What is Toon2 have booster and not Toon1?
  25. - Psy mobs must horribly destroy you.
    Here's how I see it. You can aim for S/L def on FA but you already are descently resilient to S/L dmg with Fire Shield and Tough (probably close to 60% if you use Cardiac).
    Fire is to the roof, Energy and Neg are fine.
    Toxic is easy to bump to 80ish with pre-stacking Healing Flames.
    It leaves Cold (quite rare actually) and Psy. Psy damage isnt sadly rare at all. I'm not going to go through all the level 50 content but incarnate trials only have a buttload of psy damage.
    Now your build has 0 psy res, 18.5% ranged def.

    If you could slip an Impervium Psy res into you resist powers or/and the Aegis unique that would be 18% res to psy. Now I wont say 18% res will save your life, but its abviously more than 0 (heavy math there).

    Another thing is that if its hard to reach non incarnate def soft-cap for melee/ranged on an FA toon, its not horribly hard to stand at 30%.
    30% melee/ranged will be imo a way better lifequality than your 33 S/L.



    - Lots of recovery
    I dont know what Destiny buff you are using. If you dont stand at 5% to a def soft-cap Barrier is a nice "oh ****" power but is not very reliable.
    Ageless in the other hand not only give you a steady recharge buff but also pretty much negate any kind of endo issue. Allowing you to save slots in consume or stamina (since you dont use set effects on em), actually you could completely skip Consume (I do keep it for exemplar situations myself).



    - Lots of recharge
    0f course you have to be able to run Burn/Gloom/Hay/KB/Gloom/Hay but beyond that?
    More spamming of Stomp/Burn/Dark 0blit is never a waste, but seriously, even on +4*8, most minions are down after one round.

    More Fiery Embrace is great, Rage has a very complicated curve. I wont post the math on it but technically the more recharge you get the more rage crash impacts your DPS since the duration of the crash is not reduced by the amount of recharge. Long story short, more rage = more rage crash.

    Now the question to ask yourself is: Is all the rechage from these whooping x5purples all over are giving me more dps than damage proc?




    0n the detail:
    - You use Brute's fury in x5 (for the recharge) and x1 for the proc. x3 and x3 would give you 5% S/L def. Cant tell you how better it is comapred to 10% global but I wanted to stress out this option.

    - I dont know, I juste dont know, how Fury proc works. If it applies to all attacks you should try to hide it in a less important power. If it only procs out of what its sloted... well it kina suck (math and other opinion welcome!).

    - With such an already heavy recharge build I have the feeling -res glad proc would be more damage over all than Force Feedback.

    - You pristine-slot Foot Stomp while it is not part of your ST rotation. I would give more love to Burn if I had to chose the best client.





    0f course all I say is subject to contratiction and also note that I'm aiming for perfect AoEcentric recharge oriented farmbuild.
