Heh, in the past I've usually faceplanted 2 or 3 times. Of course, I guess it helps when half of Nemesis-is-is's guys were ignoring me cause my hits kept being deflected.
I had fun though, hopefully wasn't too in the way, lol. I haven't run a TF (or anything with a team) in roughly 2 years, but since I hit Incarnate, I wanted to knock the rust off before starting on the iTrials.

Quote:They'll probably explain it the same way they explained Damien being 10 years old and there having been 4 Robins, one of which has died and come back to life, in the span of 5 years.I'm interested to see how they're going to explain the existence of Stargirl at all. Her costume and powers (cosmic belt & cosmic rod) are taken from the original Star-Spangled Kid (who, oh yeah, doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth) and from Starman (who, oh yeah, also doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth). And the only reason she ever came across either the costume or the powers in the beginning was because her step-father was Stripesy, the partner of the aforementioned Star-Spangled Kid (who, oh yeah, yet again doesn't exist on the Nu-Earth).
And yet there is Stargirl, pretty much exactly as she appeared on the old New Earth. Cuz yeah, that makes sense.
Oh wait, they didn't (that I've seen). -
I think I'll join in on this if there's still room. Haven't run a TF in quite a while. Knight'Hawk, MA/SR Scrapper.

Quote:Yeah, it ended after Issue 12. I only read the first 4 or 5 then lost interest....like with every other New 52 book."Justice League of America is now the third title at DC under the Justice League umbrella, joining Justice League Dark and Justice League. Fans can expect all of these titles to crossover eventually, but we dont know in what capacity as of yet.
"
Haven't been following the New DC for a while now...only 2 current JL titles, did international get cancelled? Read the first few any they were awful so I wouldn't be shocked...
JLA sounds pretty damned awful as well. -
Quote:This. While there is a lack of funding, that lack of funding probably starts with a lack interest. And these days, I feel like no matter what else happens in the world, Americans will be more concerned with Snooki's baby than actually being productive again....We might have accomplished the feat at a later date, but it was the Soviets that gave us the inspiration/determination to race to the Moon. We have no such motivation now, which is why the Space Program is what it is at the moment. If we're going to put someone on Mars, or beyond, we need sufficient motivation to do so.

Depends on the game. This probably won't be popular, but I have a hard time saying anyone is "skilled" at this type of game. With MMOs there's pre-planned numbers in place that determine how good or bad your character is at doing something, rather than direct commands from the player. Whereas with racing games, or FPSs most of your success or failure is based on your own attributes and talents; how good your aim is, how fast your reaction time is, etc.
What determines a good or bad player (for me) in MMOs, is knowledge and understanding of the game. Knowing the best gear/enhancement combos, and understanding how those all affect your character's powers, having your entire fight planned out based on what/who you're fighting, understanding what needs to be done to keep up with the ever changing world due to updates and balance re-works, etc. Those are things I feel are more based on a player's understanding of the game, and that understanding comes through experience and learning from others who've already figured it out. Not necessarily through some natural gift/talent (outside of general intelligence maybe).
And for some insight, my K/D Ratio in Halo is, I have a slightly-above-average iRating in iRacing, and I'm no where near the top of the world records in Forza. So my post isn't from someone who fancies himself God's gift to gaming.

Quote:See, the way I understand the ending of Flashpoint is that this is a slightly different Earth. One of the last pages has shows 4 different versions of various DC heroes. The one on the lower left appears to be pre-DCnU, the one on the lower right (where Barry ends up) is the one we're in now. Maybe I read it wrong? What I really wish they had done was to just declare that the old DCU was Earth-1 (or any other designation they wanted to use). Then say that the DCnU is Earth-27 or 31 or 43 or anything they wanted. They could have moved wholesale to the new dimension within the Multiverse, while leaving the previous incarnation intact.

Ha! At the mass fight scene you can hear someone yell out "FINALLY!!!"

Has DC said anything on how things are going with the New 52? I know it first it was labelled a "huge success", but I figured that was more "let's see how badly they screwed things up" and less "I'm very interested in yet another comic book reboot".
Let me be reiterate too, my beef with it isn't just the cancellation of RR, but that something's just off about the whole thing entirely. I wasn't all that invested in the pre-New 52 stuff because I'd only been collecting since mid-2010 (not like many others who've been into it since the 80s with CoIE), I was just getting my feet wet. But there was a feel to it, that's just off now. Like I said, I was truly interested in the Bat-stories from Year One to post-Final Crisis where my collections started. But now, I'm just in a "meh" state when it comes to what's going on in the DCnU. -

Which I couldn't seem to get anywhere, even online, for two years. None of my local comic shops had it, tried ordering online twice and both times the mail lost it. I was almost afraid to buy it from the DC Comics app thinking my phone or tablet would spontaneously combust. However, I recently found out that if I gave a list of comics I was looking for to my local comic shop, they would work on getting it to me, and today they had it.
Now, while I was excited, that's not why I'm making this thread. I know we've discussed the New 52 a couple times in recent months, but after going back and reading these RR books now that I've pretty much completed my collection, I wanted to see what people's thoughts were one year later (and get mine off my chest).
Simply put, I'm not impressed. I started off liking Nightwing and Batman, but as it's gone on I've seriously lost interest. I read RR #13 tonight, then 14, then 15, then 16, and didn't even think about it. Just pulled the next one out of the stack and kept going. So far, none of the New 52 books I've read have been able to do that. I walk into the comic store now and think "the next New 52 Batman....or The Long Halloween?" In this case, I went with the latter. I know TLH is considered one of the better stories compared to other pre-DCnU material, but my point is "why bother reading new Bats when this 15-year-old book about him is so much better"?
My "meh" feelings aren't just about the books not being exciting enough, but also such goofiness as Damien being 10 years old, but Bruce has only been active as Batman for roughly 5 years. Somehow, in 5 years Dick was the first Robin, got sick of it and became Nightwing, Jason became the 2nd Robin, died then became the Red Hood, and Tim became the 3rd Robin, had a falling out with Bruce (according to DC's wiki site), became Red Robin, and formed the Teen Titans.I know things can get convoluted over 20 years and continuity gets tangled up, but this is all over the span of like 3-4 years.
Anyway, these are just my views on the Bat-family part of the New 52. Maybe the other DCU comics are doing better? That's for someone else to post about. From what I've experienced, though, I just wish they'd have another Flashpoint-like event that takes things back to the last universe.
Sorry for the rant, but this is the only outlet I have for comics related stuff. -
I don't normally care for Robot Chicken, but that looks awesome.
I wonder if the bit about wiping boogers on the wall being evil might be related to this from JLU.

Quote:They opened a TON of servers because at launch they didn't have enough to handle the amount of people playing. Once things settled down, then yeah, it'd make sense to need to merge severs, have server transfers, etc. A few months ago, they were claiming to have roughly 1.5 million players; a number most MMOs would kill to have. However, I have a feeling the game's overlords were expecting the 10 million another game boasted, and were "disappointed" by that.Ah yes the popular "I've hard this gripe before" dismissal.
Fact. They started merging the servers before 6 months had passed due to the drastically dwindling playerbase.
Fact. They openly admitted sales were disappointing.
Fact. In a desperate attempt to save the game and attract potential customers they are switching from a subscription based business model to a hybrid F2P business model.
I hope it works out for them. I'll go back when the F2P launches to see if they fixed the problem that preventing me from being able to log into the game, but I'm not spending money to not be able to play a game. I can keep my $15 bucks and not play for free.
From MY view, things seemed to be going well despite all the whining and people leaving. I've witnessed a couple of MMO launches the past few years, and it was the same thing with them. Biggest problem is we live in an IWANTITNAODAMNIT society that, unlike when CoH and a couple of others launched, won't wait around for things to stabilize and for the developers to start building on the game.
Sure it's got a few bugs, a few things that annoy people, but I personally wouldn't call it an utter failure like some were/are so quick to do. Apparently, my opinion isn't shared by many. Now, if two years had gone by with little - no change, then my opinion would change (which happened with an aforementioned sci-fi game).
Oh, and the "I've heard this gripe before" thing wasn't a dismisal. It was joke, because for years, we'd heard the same thing about CoH. -
Quote:I could swear I've heard this gripe before. So once you made a character for each faction and hit the level cap you experienced all the content the game had to offer.
Seriously, though, it's a brand new game; it's going to be short on content. With all that was spent on it, with all the popularity it had, I found the F2P announcement surprising. CoX's younger siblings lasted longer, as did another sci-fi game. None of which had even half of this other game's popularity at launch. Sure the time immediately following launch can be stormy, but I figured they'd hang in there for more than 8 months. -
I just got back from seeing it and don't recall that line. I wasn't really, looking for it though.
I personally didn't feel this one was as good as the first two. To me, it just seemed like there was a lot of erroneous stuff in there like they were trying their best to drag it out to 3 hours when it would've been fine as a 2-2 1/2 hour movie. It didn't feel like it meshed with the first two nearly as well as they did with each other. There are other little nitpicks but I won't go into them.
Anne Hathaway definitely pulled off Catwoman better than I expected, but I can't say I liked Bane much (doesn't matter who played him, I didn't care for the character). I have to say, though I'm glad this series is over, and most likely someone else will don the cape and cowl for a re-launch or JL movie (whichever comes first). I've always felt Bale played Bruce Wayne well, but wasn't as good at playing Batman (vs. Michael Keeton who I felt played Batman well, but not Bruce). Hopefully, whoever plays him next can get both characters down.
Overall, I'd say it was a good movie, but I left feeling about the same as I did when I left Spider-Man a couple weeks ago. More "meh" and not wow'd like The Avengers and Captain America before it.
EDIT:
It just hit me: Blake --> Drake -> Robin -> Red Robin..... WE GET A RED ROBIN MOVIE!!!! -
Yeah, my clone has been one of the few non-AVs to give my main a real run for his money. *wipes tear* So proud....
-
Yeah I figured some things would look about like DarkGob's pic; wouldn't be a true comic book game if it didn't.
But thanks for that rundown. Back when I23 dropped, I'd read that Night Ward took place after both First Ward and DA, but later read in another thread that NW was actually after FW, plus those two span 20-39 where DA is 50+.
I kinda just wanted to make sure I didn't run something that would spoil something else, since I'm about to start running the iTrials on my main. -
It really did catch me off guard when that recently released sci-fi MMO made that announcement. I figured it may happen one day, certainly, but having it happen within less than a year of launch was quite surprising. I know there's been a ton of griping, but when has there ever been an MMO launch that didn't have that?
I'm actually a bit worried. Not because of the usual reasons people get worried about an MMO going F2P, but because I know this was likely a move by a publisher who wasn't happy with 2nd place in subscriber numbers. And I fear, if said publisher doesn't get what it wants in going F2P they'll kill the project off completely (this wouldn't be the first time).
Personally, I was always against it as it meant "failure" to myself and many others. Now, pretty much every MMO I've played has a F2P option, or will in the future. A lot of them, don't have any real big perks for being a subscriber, so it's kind of nice to jump on at will to check some things out. I have to really like the game to continue subscribing, which is the case here with CoH (in fact, depending on what I may or may not lose when the aforementioned sci-fi MMO goes F2P, CoH may be the ONLY MMO I pay for). -
Hey guys,
Is there somewhere I can find a timeline of recent events (First/Night Ward, DA, Praetoria, etc)? Normally, I'd refer to Paragon Wiki's Hero/Villain Story Arcs page but 1) that doesn't account for the new TFs, trials and such, and 2) it doesn't appear to be up to date (No Habashy/Twinshot stuff, or any of the solo Incarnate missions from DA). I'm a bit of a stickler for running things "in order".
Thanks. -
Quote:I almost wonder if the average viewer is actually aware that all that CoX paraphernalia is related to a real-world product, or if they think it was something drummed up for the show. For example, my family would've never known if I hadn't jumped up off the couch screaming "ZOMG, I PLAY THAT GAME!!!!"So is this free placement because TBBT's production team happens to like CoX or is this a planned marketing thing?
Quote:Howard also has a few Lineage 2 posters in his room (Obvious in the episode where Penny verbally castrates him) -
