Like my Claws/SR I would prolly opt for def bonuses as I like to take all the attacks if I can help it. Her current live build is just for certain tricks ie go into RV and taunt control Lord Recluse unaided; whilst people just hit him for damage; for free; but staying under a certain level of threat; for any given amount of time. Her planned build is 45% def, practically all the attacks and more about fun. Many attacks at your disposal equals a lot of fun.

I am also not fond of tought and weave, because i can reach soft cap without them, and i get much more manageable end consumption.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, I wouldn't have it on a SR if I could help it neither. Looks like I am starting one of these up today and having to do a build and concept for it also. If I decide on over clocking it on Procs then, and only then fight pool may come into play as I would certainly not get the def bonuses and Broadsword can be Proc'd by so much choice. There would have to be a balance between the extra damage in attacks and the end cost of fight pools toggles.
  3. I will herd with my scrapper (and by this I mean "pull one group tight"), for a safer fight point that also offers range from enemy aoes, for the teams cones, small aoes and directing kb to a wall without a big spread...and I may only have only so much survivability. My personal fight duration on that group from start of the pull to my impending doom maybe 10 secs. If I start too early then the team won't catch up in time.

One risk I took was giving a team a benefit of the doubt the other day. I figured there was no reason to go right, no reason for them to pass a certain point on a map into enemy perception, right was a known dead end...well despite the fact we were dealing in doing objectives not diversions and sight seeing someone did. So in pulling ahead in order to lead in DPS and keep the pace you can get caught out.

As my Tank I would not of gave the benefit of doubt and stayed with the team, as my Brute I wouldn't of cared but as my Scrapper I will give the benefit of doubt. Scrappers don't necessarily need the team aiding them, and the team don't necessarily need the scrappers there as much as other ATs so it was an attempt at keeping pace towards meeting objectives.

I don't agree with just any scrapper pulling ahead and creating fight points, as some do it well and some do it badly, its better if they're Tank players tbh who set things up for the team, realize ambush points and don't automatically expect support for two reasons, one that they're survivable especially later in levels and two that many of them don't guarantee aggro control half as well as a tank so a debuffer could split from the team, debuff to help the scrapper and die in the process. If a scrapper is soloing a mob and the team can't get there then tough, if someone comes to help then they're potentially taking a big risk. A really good scrapper later in levels would of been alright anyway.

It amazes me the prices people will pay. Someone will actually buy a Karma def/end for 20 million. Something is clearly wrong with the world.

    1. Can it be slotted for range?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I assumed Donna is going for the blaster version and couldn't see Range slots mentioned as accepted anywhere in ingame data and certainly wasn't about to put a range slot in mine to find out. Looking at VEATs as well I can't see how you add range to it. You actually have greater than 80ft on it Praf? If so how?

    Do you have Mids planner?
  7. Pulling = herding in my vocabulary, it well confusing I know XD

If I said "herding groups" then that'll equal everyone elses idea of herding I'd imagine. 1 group = 1 herd and if I move them then that's herding.

Herding groups is rare for me in large teams and sometimes optional in small teams.

I think most ppl have the same idea of whats good or not just we word things differently and so interpret differently. I could tell what ppl were saying but ppl prolly take me differently.

Aww nooo! Hope you get back in play soon! Take anything...any...thing...just take it!

It v sad these days that things can come to people from no fault of their own but a fault of economists that refused to adequately acknowledge the bubble that grew in America and what essentially is the greedy banker. Warnings were made but unheeded, don't think the Politicians weren't part of it neither.
  9. We get a version of MA thats not quite as good as what the Devs get I think and with what they will get they'll be faster at new content.

OMG I need 6 pets to be in essence a crab now?
  11. Yesterday I was in a team with a pretty good tank but they tanked at points where other members of the team could, if they were not careful or plain unlucky, attract groups from nearby. So some pulling could of helped. On each fight start I was ready to eat popcorn for a bit before realizing they were actually gonna fight where they were, we got in trouble and then more came and then more came XD but v good team really. It would of helped to actually not run out of endurance before all mobs were dead and it would of helped if some squishy wasn't one shotted. The highest level was on Invincible and the average level of the team was perhaps 2 levels lower so not the best xp/time but all the same some people love a good fight now and then and that it was. It was an enjoyable night despite all the things that happened to learn from but anyway sometimes better survivability comes from making judgment calls that other people won't see and if they don't see it then they may complain.

You can base why your herding on the average level of team to enemy, powersets, type of enemy, enemy perception and map and numbers of, whilst some people only ever run in.

I know I was being p taking. 30 million is not a fixed figure to put things right. I wouldn't necessarily need a single IO in a Shield tank or on a firetank to tank any AV, you play to its and other peoples strengths and they're fine. I just can't stand things being considered fine after you spent so much inf on stuff that's not even needed in PvE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    You're contradicting yourself there.
You're sayign they fine without IOs, then you say you can't stand em being fine after spending inf...

    which is it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its not me contradicting. I am not the one saying they're fine after spending 30 mill. Its me being not so much satirical, but a little p taking if we "assume" its fine after 30 mill spent or with haste, fight pool or med pool.

I am not keen on (I know Practised Brawler is in the same basket) recharge mezz prot that doesn't perma using basic enh on a Tank. It's not good imo. The OWS is just live with-able but I am not 100% sure it's quite the well balanced "get out of jail" power.

  14. Damn that saving part..could take ages...to have a really good "looking" build now you would have to know Wentworths, farm like mad or play a concept long passed its sell by date. I have a claws/sr and would prolly have no need for fight pool unless I pvped perhaps. You can do 45% def to all without it anyways.
  15. Take the common factors from the suggestions + whatevers cool and come up with an updated build.
  16. It's hard to die being /Ice.

Lemme see mine, 1st debt badge yet? No. Died? Yes but one was lag crash and I also loaded into an ambush but was too busy typing on forums to do anything.

Every other set holds up without blowing 30 million at lvl 30. That's not a sodding answer to peoples problems should they have any and a bit well over the top in my opinion.

Anyone having probs may want some other tanker to simply see what's going wrong. It may not be what the tanker with probs does it maybe that other people play against powerset designs of key team members.

No Tanker is supposed to stand there and take it all for an 8 man team against every enemy type and not need adequate support. Sure you can beef it after gambling at WWs but after picking Shields its not expected that you live in WW and/or see it as a necessity.

Edit: Oh and one truly rubbish PuG full of solo artists with no clue in the early levels.

...lets say you could get the same build but with more acc and rechg in some attack. I'd do that or gain another advantage somewhere else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
I came up with a similar build now, I think this is min/maxxed to an intention well but could be slightly less expensive for unnoticeably little difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What changes would you recommend?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I could've I would've already, but assuming your intentions I couldn't differ much but for making it slightly cheaper, between what you'd notice and what you wouldn't notice. The difference between having one of the IO set end mods and a plain end mod would of been 0.01 eps to start on the positional def build I looked at. You had min/maxxed to your intentions well I thought, that is if you were happy with the end gain - end drain difference. No point me repeating what others say.
  18. New Dawn

    About stamina

You can become a better Gauntleter/Damage dealer from having it and slotting your attacks with more affordable acc or rechg plus health stacks regen. With a taunt aura like RTTC its not a bad idea. Oh yeah you'd be better equiped vs end drains at keeping toggles on.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Again I agree with this too, but my opinion about when it's necessary will obviously differ from others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The others must be ingame. I differ on the fact that if someone wanted to herd every group I'd just eat popcorn.

I am sure pulling to all types of map areas is good for practice, its the pulling passed 6 good herdpoints to the most obvious one that's not helping anyone. I think 1 herd should be done inside of 5 secs but herd messer's don't wait that long.

I do think Invulns or Willpowers might entertain pulling tight and in a way they can centre up for self buffs just cos of the people in the team.

9/10 the people who say it takes too long slow the thing down around a Tanker who could do it faster but has to think of others safety as its in their mindset as a Tank. Often people are too close to herdpoint and by being so are within perception range of the untaunted. Some people open up too early causing a spread making the idea of it pointless. Some auras just have such poo duration, if you add a debuff toggle to a group before the mob is consolidated you may find the debuffer tankmaging for about a sec or 2 and saying "lol I pulled from a tank" before dying....no you just opened up at the wrong time. They can do that though if they break LoS in a place where these mobs might head to and walk into the tank anyway.
  20. New Dawn

    Surveillance

It shouldn't make a player target aware of you in their combat attributes. You would need LoS with it. It's v likely too miss and if it does hit it tells you sod all in PvP which I dislike (as in doesn't work) - I thought it would of made a good recon power - if you know what your own chars are capable of doing or need to set them targets with the idea of becoming capable.

Oh yeah you would have to increase your stealth radius I am afraid unless boost range helps.

    The Money Pit

I'd of trumped most people I think.

Since Feb 2005, 4 accounts, every expansion pack on atleast 1, some got more than 1 expansions, all got wedding pack, several months of activation on them, several new paid for character slots (opened well over 10 perhaps 15), a few characters transferred as in 5-10 transfers just to play with people on another server, when I must of been drunk..oh yeah and renames.

No point me trying to work it out XD

A new poot poot doesn't count imo.

I got to Stone and that can use a heck of lot of slots if your mad enough.
  23. I am not sure how all defense sets suck purely on SOs, thats not in my experience. I was since, Def changes pretty darn happy with my SR in PvE. Not in PvP obviously and add to that when you died, PB wasn't readily there which is another bug bear of mine to be put in the pit of hate.

Def wise I would do fine I think considering the +hp and res + shield charge but with prolly aid self as I likes it.

I know this shield set, if boosted "slightly" in certain ways + had the 4 best powerpools it could be over the top.

A lower rechg active def would boost the lower levels from freeing up slots and freeing up slots could boost the set slightly in a non balance compromising way. But I not really gone into numbers since I7 and Dr Rock was lots of help to me anyways.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Either way, Im no longer going to argue over this, but if you think shields are that good, play one.

Compared to another tank without sets at 50 you will die the fastest guaranteed. Defence doesnt work when you have a mass concentration of attacks unless you hit cap.

People can argue on here all they want, but go and actually play one and see if you still feel they are gods gift to tanking. Having raised a few tankers to 50, this was the only one ive ever deleted because it was just awful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Here is where I think your right..

This game was made based on SOs. PvE wasn't changed for IOs, it wasn't made any harder. So when it comes to thinking in terms of slotting I really, really didn't even consider IOs.

    Not the low levels anyway.

Now unlike Praf my Shield tank has looked at almost every contact I could have, yes I turn XP off, I may jump mishes in between arcs for whatever reason but I found the lower levels lacking through this, but have to say mainly on TFs and instead of IOs, you pile slots, you'd rather have elsewhere, into Active Defense and have somewhat a forced respec later.

I am not gonna look like I am hating shields anymore, I got 1 tank, 2 brutes already and a Shield scrapper planned but I just feel something is lacking and in terms of my enjoyment this was it mainly.

Without IOs or compulsory powerpools I am not sure this set compares fairly albeit arguably really and I think thats what you may agree with.

I don't think this set will go without future changes.
  25. Well I can't believe how tenacious Defiant are really and have to own up and say that when it came to option 1 it sounded more exciting. I was very in for a penny on it, at least we know now. My first raid since the change and its changed lots on me.
