Is it in the Dom set? If not, can you elaborate on the Tier 9? At the moment it seems...underwhelming compared to Psy Shockwave or Power Burst, in other words heavy hitters. What's the chance for splash damage?
  2. Woo woo for a Dom Assault set!

Booooo for the Tier 9 not being an AoE though.
Still pretty darn tootin and will be PLing one (well two as my friend wants this NAO) asap.

  4. If you want to PvP roll on Virtue or Freedom.
The game is different in PvP though, so if you are a squishie get 44 points of KB protect (you'll need Ios for that) or simply PvP with friends that won't juggle you.

    Welcome to the game.

The only way to improve at PvP, is honestly to get your butt kicked. A LOT.

Hopefully it is by someone who is willing to explain what you did wrong.

    Also, this.

Did this too, Born in Battle was annoying to get in the day...
  6. Sweet contest MP and co. Will be entering for sure.
  7. I don't mind there being iconic heroes and villains in the game, as long as I can beat the tar out of them and potentially get a badge for doing so.

What rankles me is stuff like SSA 2.1, where it was ALL PENNY ALL THE TIME and that detracted from telling us more about the Pandora's Box storyline.
Besides, VIP players with inventions and Incarnates are miles ahead of the toughest NPCs. Remember when Lord Recluse Strike Force was hard? Now it's "Barrier x 2, Clarion, Ageless, Judgment go!!!" and they fall down ridiculously fast.

I'd rather have an Incarnate Powers: On Off switch on level 50 content than having mobs be obsequious to me.
  8. Hey Big U, took my Ill/Storm to RV to test this for you.
Edit: Tried again, appears it's two minutes before you auto-hosp.
  9. Thanks Organica.

Though I grumble a lot about the market, it's just so easy to make money off it, it's almost criminal. Best part? Found money...after logging in a disused Stalker, saw she had sold 8 items for 240,000,000. Almost too easy.
  10. I would tweak the Wentworth's/Black Market interface a bit...by making it quicker to find out how many items are for sale. For example, you type Apocalypse: Damage and you get a pop-up of a recipe and crafted, number for sale and last five.

If I'm dreaming in Technicolor (HD?), I'd also have a seperate Market channel like LFG (aware of The Market, but this would be seen by everyone and might encourage new users to get Market access) where players could buy/sell items. Of course, these forums aren't used for that purpose so...

Lastly, mousing over your character would tell you how many sold items/bought items s/he has as well.

Gameplay wise, Port Oakes and Kings Row.
  11. A rumour emerges that a team from Virtue may soon appear. >.>

Well since we are just making statistics up - Over 90% of the player base has no interest in pvp - then and now - I have a feeling my "statistic" is more factual.

The decline of pvp must be attributed to solely Issue 13 and has nothing to do with oh... a multitude of other reasons. I mean Pre Issue 13 pvp had thousands of people pvping non stop. Pre Issue 13 pvp was obviously very successful. Pre Issue 13 pvp had no bugs/flaws that I can even think of and was completely balanced. No clue why they went messing around with such a great system.... oh wait.
    Stop it.

    Seriously.

We had two ladders that were pretty active, dozens of teams, live events nonstop and even the Devs were pretty lenient on taking down Test beceaus they knew we had a ladder going. Even CriticalKat's best efforts at the leagues fielded at most 10-12 teams, total. Now, there are none. As gallant as Sentry4 has been in hosting events nonstop on Virtue (and full credit for that), we've had at most a dozen to twenty people in RV and about the same in some Arena nights. That's not even mentioning the yeoman's work by Zwillinger helping with Leagues, Ex Libris before him and the blink of a Lighthouse somewhere in there too.

Not to say pre I13 was perfect, but instead of just working with us in fixing and balancing the most egregious stuff, it was all turned into a mashed up disaster.

People were always going to move to other games but our community is a shell of what it was and yeah, I13 can take a huge chunk of the blame.

As for your stat, we know it was around 10-15% of the playerbase, but seeing most of them had 2-3 accounts...

In fact, you'll find that there will rarely be kills amongst the best players, because you'd have to time a spike perfectly to get through 2-3 1k heals in an instant.

I understand the want for a lot of diversity, and although there's potential for it, this is also a competition. If the event was specifically for unique teams and ideas, to see which was fun and worked, then you'd get things like that.

In a competition, you'll get people doing what they know works for sure, and what has been the most efficient in the past.

Not to mention, an emp running around, untraveled suppressed, healing for 2k every 4 seconds is a little hard to kill.
Snipped some stuff but listen to this man. Even in RV, once you gather and spam a few Incans your heals are bonkers. In an Arena all you'd need to do is call "Incan Gather" on Vent/Mumble, have everyone spam it and voilĂ .

Seriously, just Alpha or at worst Alpha/Interface/Judgment. We had a few 5 v 5 leagues and teams were Sonic/Pains with a few Psy Blasters or Emps and a few Psy Blasters or Poisons/Therms with a few Psy Blasters...and one of them was that huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugely silly Budweiser league where you could vote-ban stuff if you'd lost a match and call for votes nonstop, yeah that wasn't crazy at all...

There's almost no one left anyway, I know someone said there were five teams signed up and that would be great but...you're probably better off just running a Lethal Lottery and handing out a bunch of PvP IOs/Purples and calling it a night.

    This.
There are much glossier and likely better games out there, but good community service, constant (though somewhat muted these days) dev outreach and the player community itself have made this my only constantly subbed MMO to date.

Sure. Praetoria does this but I really don't think they want to *SPOILERS* strip away emotions and so on *SPOILERS* go that far. I kinda see Numina as being the big bear in this group, but who knows.

I do think that's unfair, but there it is. :P

I didn't have a problem with Penny, I thought it was pretty neat that we got to see her "grow up" (the age retcon is another point of contention though), but it rubbed me the wrong way when it felt like she replaced Sister Psyche as the Token Psychic. I actually liked and miss Psyche, though, so I realize I'm not unbiased. And then I ran SSA 2.1, and she was so frustratingly childish and frankly an a-hole. Yes, by all means, go screw around in a guy's mind just for kicks! A guy who just lost his wife, no less! And then give an insincere fauxpology for it, that's awesome. That soured me on her pretty badly. This is not how you create a sympathetic character, guys.

This encapsulates everything I feel about Penny. Thankfully, I only ever saw her at the end of the hero arc and never spoke with her so that was great.

One thing that's bugged me about psychics in CoH is how the NPC psychics can just read your mind at will. In any game universe where psychics exist, there are strict regulations on when and how they can use their powers. In fact, there are generally Psi organizations that regulate them (think PsiCorps in Babylon 5), even if those fall into mistrust either from non-aligned Psis and so on. Think of it this way. If I have a Mind Controller, never ever ever ever would I RP that I can know everything another RPer is thinking, it's a HUGE faux-pas to go: "Hey pal, tell me everything you know/think". That's something the Devs have never addressed and probably (frankly) don't really think is relevant, but it is irksome.

Arc overall is a B+. Good story, nice NPCs, nice story development, Good work!

    Heh.

If someone offers to "PL" me and then we run a Phalanx TF I'll thank them and decline. PLing is reptetive farming of the same instance (think the old Family farms in PI, NEmesis platform, Television runs or AE), run by a 50 (now 50+1) while I soak rewards.

Nothing you have described is a PL, at least not as I or my colleagues that PL would expect it to be.

    Just saying.

This is not PLing, this is efficient gameplay.

When I PL, I launch both accounts, set up the Nemesis platform at +4, grab my Plant/Psi permadom and go to town. It gets me to at least SOs or 35 or 41 then I run patron arcs to get powers and move on.

To answer the question though, I make an effort to run all new arcs once. Whether I repeat that process depends on verbiage (Hello there Doctor Graves!) mechanics (multile EBs/Bosses) and length (Welcome to the Libray of Souls!) and so on. Ouroboros gets used for badge missions needed for accolades and Alpha unlocks when I lack Astrals and that's about it.

Actually, I run papers for newspaper missions because the Devs won't put Mayhems in Ouro for some odd reason.

Just as an example of how great this community is, I was looking for some RP resources on Virtue and not to name anyone, but Alicia_Jewel gave me a TON of resources, channels, the whole shebang that got my play experience on Virtue off to a great start. I know have an RP SG, am in two RP Global channels and am doing great!

Great, great community. Not to stray too far, but Aion...yeah. I used their forums, broadcast, all that stuff and never found anyone friendly enough to help out. Which is likely why I unsubbed ages ago.
  21. They can't give you an answer since it's not on the schedule.
I'd love more Golden Age/Silver Age costumes but Marketing needs to balance that with new releases to get impulse point spending, new powersets, currently planned stuff and so on.

Hopefully in the near future we'll hear more about this, but not holding my breath at the moment.

OH GAWD LET IT BE MUSIC BLAST, with those notes as used in Night Ward.
Or let us have musical notes for Sonic Blast.

    Please.
  23. Yeah we could really use:

    Close to eyes masks
    Baggy pants/tights
    Lassos
    Gun holsters
    Quivers
    Folded boots
Many hairstyles for women...from the 30s (think thin hair with buns, or coiffed rolls on side and so on)
...and for men (more moustaches, beards, slick haircuts)

Please spend SOME time doing a Golden Age/Silver Age set or add-on at some point.

Immediately wanted to see, then saw Christopher Nolan and imagined Superman being filmed through extra foggy, darky dark lenses with everyone in a state of depression.

As for Superman and super heroes in general...won't go on a huge rant here, but here's the convo we had after seeing Green Lantern:

Me: So he has this ring that gives him a godmode right?
    Friend: Yeah...
Me: So why doesn't he just win?
    Friend: Win?
Me: Right, win. He can create ANYTHING. Why doesn't he just magic up 15 Playboy bunnies, his favourite pizza, the best car in the world and then go to Zurich and force the Gnomes to give him all the money?
    Friend: Well, he's a hero...
Me: So he's stupid? Why wouldn't you do stupid broken things with your power, especially with no game or external limitations? Who is going to stop him outside of the Green Lantern Corps, who view him as a deity, or that Yellow Fear Guy who is countered by just having a plane throw green-tinted water all over the place?
Friend: You've played too many RPGs for your own good.
