Evening ebil ones!
My Kin/Sonic Defender (level 41) is quickly closing on 500+ Merits (431 at the moment) and I am at a quandary...
Do I:
i)Transfer a bunch of inf to her, and then convert to Hero Merits for more random rolls (seems very inefficient) for my build or...
ii)Cash in all the Merits in the 35-39 range, sell the unneeded stuff and then go from there.
To be clear, I'm going to need several BOTZ KB, a couple LOTGs and other assorted items I can likely gather on my own; buying the BOTZs seems...counterproductive as I might be able to simply Market for the inf to acquire them. Transferring them into Hero Merits seems unpalatable at this point, but I'm certainly willing to hear people out on the issue.
Also, the Merits will be rolled once I reach level 50...
At this point, rolling the Merits on randoms seems to be my "safe bet", rolling in the 35-39 range.
Any thoughts? -
I found my Ill/TA to be pretty lackluster for the most part...migrating to Gravity Control was like night and day, with the Teleport+Stun, hold, immob, cage (which does almost nothing these days...) and of course Singy.
You can get some nice tools out of illusion though, with the pets, Blind and some like Spectral Terror too if you can pin someone down. I'd agree with Hibernate, lets you take Leadership pool as an alternate in your build.
Good luck!
Edit: I see you want zone focus...in that case the fear totem might not be that hot. Concentrate on Glue Arrow, the immob arrow from TA, your pets and Blind/Deceive as well. Leadership pool always nice to have too. You might be able to get some extra damage from Spectral Wounds or your APP (Power Blast or whatever it's called and other choices). I didn't like Superior Invis on my Ill/TA...waaaay too much of an end hog when you're running Tactics, Maneuvers, Acro, etc. etc...unfortunately you might be tight for slots/power choices...if you have your base two sets + Leadership, Leaping, Fitness (until it becomes inherent) and Speed (for Hasten and Superspeed), gets dicey. Maybe if you wait until Fitness becomes inherent, then you have a little more leeway...not too sure. :/ -

Blog up for those who might have missed the matches or are generally interested in the whole thing:

GL next week. -
My Ill/Emp is Pro at this, I've helped complete it on Champion, Pinnacle, Freedom and Triumph (?) so just holler @Neuronia or send me a message on the forums. I'd prefer before 6 Eastern or after 8 Eastern, but whatever works for you.

Just out of curiosity, I tracked some of the powersets/ATs played:
The following ATs/Powersets saw play during the first night:
Thermal Radiation
Empathy
Fire Blast
Sonic Blast
Ninjutsu
Willpower (Stalker)
Psychic Blast (Defender and Blaster)
Trick Arrow
Radiation Emission
Illusion Control
Ice Control (Controller)
Energy Melee (Stalker)
Super Reflexes (Stalker)
Radiation Blast (Corruptor)
Fire Control
Energy Manipulation (Blaster and Dominator)
Archetypes played included:
Stalker
Blaster
Controller
Defender
Corruptor
Dominator
Certainly some variety in there, let's see if counter line-ups evolve over the course of the season. -
Quote:Emps in zones were pretty nuts in the day. I remember being in Siren's Call when it was populated, or even RV and in between your Superspeed, Super Leap, Phase Shift, Temp Phase (when the NoPhase timer was lower) and your heal aura...AND the hospital to hide from people, if you had brought 3-4 Sturdy to protect from TP Foe you were pretty well off.
Again, good emps presented a challenge to the opposition in i12 zones, but they weren't brokenly good. Certain people just refused to organize an effort to separate emps from their teammates. I heard "That's unfair! We can't kill your emp, and then your emp keeps you alive!" The devs apparently heard this too, and that's what they listened to when they came up with HD.
On top of that, with the old hold system if you stacked a bunch of Clear Mind on your Blaster friend it got pretty crazy.
The only things vills really had was permadomination Minds Levitate/TKing you, Corrs throwing some Heat Exhaust on you or well-played Stalkers stunning you/ASing you, pre-Shark stupidity. You had the odd person that played a Mastermind really well but you almost never saw Brutes at all. VEATs gave Vills some nice assets too, a little too late though.
The system now is pretty bad.
It really has descended into damage spam + debuffs to lower base resists. No more caging, few shields, evasion in zones is a non-factor outside of Hiber...
Arena isn't that bad, but it's not great.
I mean, even in Issue 12-previous you still had crazy stuff going on. I remember being almost perma-caged from good sonics and dUmb's Fire/Storm teams were huge pains in the ***.
If we could remove base resists, revert hold system to somewhat closer to Issue 12 (not to the point CM trivializes stuff, but enough you don't held all the time) and make cages better...maybe add some Psi Resist/Defense to bubbles/shields...I dunno. :/
Now...lf Psy Blasters + Emp/Therm/Pain? :/ -
I bought up some damage purples (Ragnarok, Armageddon, Apocalypse) in what was Redside and resold them for a tidy profit.
Also accumulated a bunch of Hamis and Synth-Hamis through countless LRSFs and sold those for a 35% markup from the previous price.
Outside of that, not much movement over here. I already have most of the stuff I need stored, so no big deal purchasing here. I will agree with Goat on the PvP recipe fluctuations...Panaceas seem sky high at the moment while even more 'common' stuff is a little more expensive. -

This is one of the game's biggest problems.
You can somewhat overcome it by playing with Architect Entertainment or doing various unique Task Forces (Katie Hannon, Lady Grey, Statesman, Respecs, Lord Recluse, Silver Mantis...) but yeah, you do have to hold your nose a lot of the time and get to the objectives or enjoy the story. -
Should be another team coming on board soon, looking for a 4th atm.

Quote:Throw me a global next time you need help/anything PvP related.
I had a great time. I appreciated the patience and encouragement. I don't know what it was like in the past, but my limited experience with pvp has been awesome so far. I hope that more people will come out and try.
Also, there's a 3 v 3 league going right now if you want to get your feet wet.
Cheers. -

To begin, I have no idea what 4chan is (serious here, I know it's an internet meme but knowledge ends there) but GR was a great boon to PvE content, they could hit a home run if there were significant (and welcome) PvP changes coming, or Incarnate content announcements.
Another thread suggested cross-server teaming, which would be a massive can of worms being opened. How do they reconcile this with global server names, server-specific names and so on?
Still, I suppose we'll find out soon enough. -
Cross-server teaming sounds a lot like I'll be seeing @Neuronia-Champion or something, if so...sounds worrisome.
They have made it work with the Markets though...
Hmm... -
On a Barracuda last night a teammate got an Unbreakable Constraint triple and I landed a Soulbound Allegiance Damage/End I believe.
Sometimes I farm and farm and get nothing; just maximize your odds by playing high end content or market through sales for a return on your income. -
Quote:Most of the stuff is 1 Merit. For example, I bought a Basilisk Gaze Recharge/something at level 25 for a friend at 1 Merit. All I see is that "IO recipes can be had for 1-2 Villain Merits each", but not a listing of which cost what?
It also confirms what you said about PvP recipes and that Purples can be bought with 'villain merits', but I don't see a listing of how much for each?
I can always check tonight (providing Hurricane Earl will let me), when I get home, but was just curious if there was information on the wiki sight.
Lotg 7.5, high end procs etc are 2 Merits. -
Quote:Please let this be some form of changes to PvP Arena or Incarnates coming soon and not some sexi catgurl booster pack.Well, I know there'll be at least one announcement that will please folks.
That is, if what I think is being announced is still being announced and has not been replaced by an announcement of an announcement to be announced at a later date.

Quote:"The problem with zone is that unlike arena matches for which the rules can be agreed upon by the participants at match time, the zone rules have to be the same for everyone. This opens the door to asking the question which PvP rules make the most sense. This is a non-trivial question to answer with certainty. Implementing the arena settings could offer a way to settle that question definitively or at least as definitively as possible. If literally *everyone* who PvPs consistently chose the same settings or almost always chose the same settings, that would in effect be a vote for those settings among all players who PvP, whether they discuss the matter publicly or not. It would be strong evidence that those settings should be the ones deployed at the zones. In effect, the people whose vote matters the most would be the people who actually PvP. "
Arcanaville not every PvPer does so in the arena. I would guess the majority dont. So why would arena PvP selections decide zone rules?
Probably because a lot of the dedicated PvPers use the Arena and so on. Yeah, you do have your really hardcore zoners in Freedom for example, but I'd wager the Devs do and did a fair amount of datamining in Arena. Heck, I'd imagine a lot of the I13 changes stemmed from Arena matches.
That said, if they could put in radio buttons that would allow us to flip mezz, damage mods, etc...go to it. If they can make Arena cross-server (without everyone needing to go to Freedom or Virtue, for example), that would be absolutely awesome.
Of course, cross-server Arena might mean you'd see something like "Yo Son I got Doritos-Freedom" and "Yo Son I got Doritos-Infinity" which would be kind of jarring. That seems like a pretty minor issue though.
Zones are likely toast anyway, short of reverting to Issue 12 rules.
What's certain is the Champion and other ladders are pretty much the last gasp for PvP in this game. Ability to revert to Issue 12...or at least removal of base resists and the options Arcana brought up would at least salvage what's left. -
I used City Info Tracker but I haven't been verified in a while.

Quote:Wizard of Oz?I will be sure to rectify that problem Sir, any suggestions what I should name it?
*I put on my wizard hat and AS you for a kajillion.*
Elf, we should be able to make Saturday at 6 p.m. Eastern. give or take a few minutes. Peril and Joe both said they could make it, Philly is very iffy.
Hope to see you there.
P.S. I bumped into Void tonight. Someone should snag him for their team...
