  1. Net's Family trip to Disney World:

Back from Florida with my family I thought I'd reflect on the trip.

My son's Favorite Ride: Rock'n Rollercoaster.
Reason: The donut. In the middle of the ride you go through a "donut" (much like the one in Faultline). He loves donuts.

    His Least Favorite: Haunted Mansion
    Reason: Dark and scary.

    Barreling around dark rollercoasters...not scary.
    Slow moving dark rides... scary.
I dont get it. Thunder Mountain (day or night), ok. Dinosaur, ok. Splash Mountain (day or night), ok. Oh well... suffice to say he had a lot of fun.

Speaking of splash... the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. !!!!! That thing kicks out 5-6ft high waves. Even the reflections behind the main wave are bigger than most wave pool's biggest. My son got the biggest kick of me tossing him forward as the wave approached. He would get blasted and I would duck under the water (thus avoiding the wave) and catch him behind the wave. Physics for the win.

We went on the safari in the Animal Kingdom, which was really cool, had front row on the truck. We had to stop while some giraffes blocked the road. Lots of very close animals to the truck. And throughout the ride, I kept smelling something... odd. Zamboni! The lack of diesel smoke should have been the give away, but the driver was impressed I could make out the fuel source for the vehicles from the exhaust (most think they are electric vehicles appearently).

Last time we went, the eldest wanted her face painted, but not alone, so I agreed and got mine painted too. This trip, the whole family got our faces painted. Myself, tiger. Wife, evil queen. Son, dragon. Daughter, cheshire cat. Lots of comments and strangers taking our pictures as we wandered about. (And this is really good work as well, near stage quality.)

And because no family vacation is complete without the drama..... my 14yr old step-daughter left her purse on a ride. Her new Coach purse with her cell, PSP, wallet, etc.. in it. Thankfully we only had to backtrack 1/2 the Magic Kingdom to find it, and being Disney World, cast members had secured it, so nothing was lost... besides the time looking for it.

Fun and excitement for one and all. Lots of exercise and good eats. Probably go back in a few years again.
  2. The raid didnt happen but there were 4 full squads of tankers.

    An ITF team.
    A low 20s team
    A L30-L50 mix team
    And the heavies.

Sorry I was a bit distracted all night, trying to get packed for a trip. Plane leaves in 6 hours... woo hoo.

    Be back next week.

The over the top S/L is quite useful in the ITF actually. One hit doesn't start chipping into my def, and 2 hits just barely.

And yes this is a level 50 spec build. I have changed it alot since I started with it. Glacial isnt as useful at low levels anyways unless you are running Synapse TF alot against the Clocks. Most of Council is S/L (with some energy blasts). Family, S/L primary. Vahz, Skulls, Thorns are all S/L heavy in the lower levels. It isnt until you get to Crey, upper Thorns, Rikti, that you need the E/Nrg defense. Weave is where it is to help when LK'ed down.

Ice/Mace is what it is. A late blooming behemoth. You will need to respec a few times along the ways, but its a great combo.

(and yes there are some pricy luxuries in there... because I can. He didnt ask for the budget build.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even in a "price is no object" build, I see no point in spending the influence for the Blessing of the Zephyr -KB IO when an Ice tank doesn't need the additional KB protection.

You also haven't explained why you're slotting so heavily for positional defense when Ice is based on typed defense. You (the general you) could get just as much defense with a lot fewer slots (and less influence) by building on Ice's existing typed defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Im trying to cover positional because of the afore mentioned Psi-hole (and tox, and fire). I know I've got S/L/E/Nrg covered. I am to the point of a single small purple to hit the soft capped positional, covering the typed holes. Perhaps not need much solo, but it makes dealing with Certain Psi heavy factions (Carnies, Rikti) alot easier; and both of those are late game players.

3 Slotted BotZ has moar +def% (3.13%AoE 1.56%Fire and Cold). Its not the -KB i care about, but not like I have the choice. The Frozen and Glacial are deep into ED range already so a slot in them yields about .6% def boost to area that are already capped. I could squeeze a little more blood from CJ, but I like having super jump be SUPER jump.

L50 Ice/Mace is fun (actually have one... Anonymoose). Lots of fun. Not as quirky as Dark Armor/Mace and it has less mez, but a juggernaught all the same.

Can I get a loan to go with it? you can have...my first born son....soul...ah..ah...

Now I need to know all the builds in betweeen 14 and 50 hahahahaha

    [/ QUOTE ]

Should have been on Champ this weekend when Ping was doling out the cash. I added 210mil to my war chest.

    Ice/Mace: Pre-Stamina (>L20)
You will need to grab your 3 first attacks because thats all you get until clobber. Glacial isnt available until 18 anyways, so focus on slotting attacks and armors for EndRedux. Tho defensive armors blow pre SOs, so just get used to being squishie. Slot Hoarfrost for recharge because youll be needing it.

    Phase 2: L20 - L30
SOs kick in, so your defense will start to get better. Youll still want your first 3 attacks + Clobber and Build-Up. You are still ST only, so do it well. Stamina and Energy Absorb arent optional. Slot EA for recharge first, then endrecovery.. youll likly use it with more than a few around, so having up often will be more beneficial.

    Phase 3:
Now you can drop Pulverize with Clobber and Shatter being your 2 big ST hitters (Shatter is a narrow cone, and usually hits only 1-2). Whirling Mace and Crowd Control coupled with Icicles (shun the non-believers... shuuuunnnnn) makes short work of minions and places the rest on thier backside for a few seconds. Without IO bonuses, you will need to push weave into your build to drive toward soft cap when EA is up.

    Phase 4: Refinement.
As posted above, you can make Ice/Mace into a war machine with high typed and positional defense. There are alot of def debuffs late in the game so not getting hit is a boon. (You have 52% res to def debuff, but as soon as the soft cap gets broken, you can fall flat fast.) You wont really need taunt, but solo it can be very useful for gathering groups to max your AoE goodness.

  6. Wait until you get Cosmic Blast. Then you will still solo slowly, but much more effectivly.

HoarFrost is down only 35seconds (120 up, 35 down)
4 Damage Procs on Toggles (CI has 1, Icicles has 3)

    Just my $0.02 on Ice/Mace
  8. The total time preping for a Hami Nuke Raid is way more than the time of a normal raid, but its no less awesome.

We did one on Champion... borked it badly and had to clear a respawn, but we had enough leftovers to just take hami down through the last 2 blooms.
  9. I got a LotG +7.5% from a Rikti Boss in an LGTF with my MM.
Aside from that and a few other recipes, I wouldnt know if the drop was Pool A or B unless I had the wiki open at the same time. So Ive probably had more, but that one stood out as an obvious Pool C drop.
  10. 7pm CDT (8pm EDT) Mothership Raid (L35+)
8pm CDT (9pm EDT) Regular TT Activities (All Levels)

Lets give the Rikti a good old fashioned curb stomping to get it started.
  11. We can do another mship raid. Ill ping BlueBoy to add it to the BMT MotD and we will add to the Tank HQ one as well. The Raid will be 1hr before regular TT activities (7pm CDT/8pm EDT).

Thankfully my hockey team pulled out a clutch win so I dont have a playoff game tomorrow night. WooHoo! First Round bye!
  12. NetMinder

    MA Mondays!

Weather permitting (ie. if it rains out the softball team I coach) ill be there. Otherwise Ill miss this week. =(
  13. You are describing the fire blapper. Yes /fire has some nice melee and PbAoE powers, but compared to its much safer ranged AoE/cone hitters, blapping is alot risker for fire/fire.

Blazing Aura is what Fire Armor tankers use to hold aggro. You dont want to hold aggro, you want to dispatch aggro. To that end, get Combustion and Fire Sword Circle instead of Blazing. Hot Feet is a major end hog so your milage will vary with it. I would also suggest Air Superiority because aside from Ring of Fire, you have no mez at all. Air Sup at least gives you some juggling capacity.
  14. I hope its not Must be Present to win. Ill be down in Florida this coming weekend. In fact at 6pm I believe Ill be just wrapping up a fine dinner at King Stephen's castle with my family.
  15. Ill be in Disney World this coming weekend so best of luck to everyone.

My personal thoughts on the raid can be summed up with one thought:
    Need better spike coordination!

More than once did I see 3 yellow mitos being attacked by small groups. That was really inefficient and caused the taunt team to burn alot more EoEs that normal. The yellow spike team(s) need to be alot better coordinated for it to go smoothly. The second wave was perfect with the spike team running together, but the other 3 waves were not so good. I started with 86EoEs in storage, took some with to begin, and 3 runs to the pantry later I have 18. 68 additional EoEs consumed. We have to do better with spike team speed.

For reference sake, hero side consumes about 12-15 EoEs per wave. Thats 60 tops for the whole thing. We at least doubled that figure. Non taunt brutes need to give up the EoEs for the taunt team as well. If you arent taunting, you dont really need them.

  16. Munitions.

    Surveillance(on boss/AV) -> Boost Range -> Build Up -> LRM -> Full Auto -> FlameThrower = Ownage.

    155.8 + 178.6 + 121.1 = 455.5
    Modifers: +100% IOs +100% Buildup + 16% (-14%res boss only)
1366pts to everything in the group. 1440 to the boss.
Boss are diced by 60% in first 10seconds from you alone and minions and LTs.. well they were gone in the first 3 seconds tops.

Plus Purple Sleep IOs are cheap and Sleep Grenade is actually useful for aggo control.

Interesting idea. The badge could be called Monster Slayer.

Already have Giant Slayer so something more unique might be in order.

Granite: Add Speed/Rech resistance. Sorry stoners, one Kin should not be able to complete negate the down side of this awesome power. Sure a couple of Kins can speed you up, but not a single one.
  21. Announce loudly to the Emp and hope they are paying attention. =P
  22. And in responce to one of the former Red Side badge hunters returning.. the devs are removing 89 badges (all MA badges).
  23. 89 Badges... poof!

Not to be 20/20 hindsight guy here.... but why now?

Aren't these the sort of decisions that are made in advance?

How does this benefit the community? Sure the HoF and DC badges were largely unavailable, but they gave players a reason to work hard on stories. (and really thats what drives the badgers, not the badge, but the quest to get it)

Dont get me wrong, I understand the reasoning behind the change, but genie is out of the bottle. If you didnt want to create a system that encouraged grind fests, then don't set the bar so high from the start. Attempting to cover one bad decision with another bad one just makes it even worse.
  24. Enjoy the 600/700 club while it lasts... we are losing ALOT of MA badges. 89 badges to be exact.
  25. 4 person respec redside takes about 25 mins. just troll BMT, im sure youll find some takers.
