For example it's probably harder to get the PvP badges today just because on average there are fewer people PvPing. Still, I'd say that leaves maybe 90% of the badges in the game that are still readily earnable today.

BTW check out Paragonwiki.com for some of the most complete up-to-date info available on badges in this game. Good luck.
Best way nowadays to get the RV AV badges is to be an incarnate then start broadcasting on server channels that you are seeking fellow incarnates that want to "Test their might" in RV against the AV's. Last time I did that, 13 of us assembled and rather quickly spawned and liquidated Recluse and his Lt's. Otherwise the odds of getting those badges are pretty slim as PVP interest has declined a bit.
  2. Just caught some of it on youtube. Glad I was never a big fan of the show, but at the end with the classic music and Clark heading to the roof to change into the suit brought back nice memories of Superman 1 and 2.

Hard to say. Next Ustream that occurs, we should ask about the concept of crafting missing anniversary badges during the Winter Event. Get enough candy candes/inf and go craft your missing badge. Given that the event already lets you craft missing event login badges which can be construed as anniversary badges as they mark the time of the event for that year, then the precedent for crafting lost/missing badges is already set.

But if Odin isnt dying then why is he passing on the crown. If he simply gets weak, goes into whatever that sleep chamber is and comes out why is he never not the king? The movie implies that this isnt the first time he has taken part in the "Odin Sleep" or whatever they call it. Just that this is the first time he has waited so long to enter it, and being weakened they dont know how long he will be in it.

Can anyone out their explain this process and i guess the rules of sucession in Asgard? Why would they need a new king if all Odin ever did was to take a nap?
Asgardians are immortal as long as they regularly eat the Golden Apples of Idun.

For ODIN, his Odinsleep is usually a once a year thing that he must undergo to restore his power to its peak. While he sleeps, he keeps the Odin power within him and Asgard and Odin are dangerously vulnerable to attack. The duration of the Odinsleep varies depending on how badly he's exhausted himself.

When ODIN perished years ago in battle against Surtur, the Odin power went to THOR as he is the heir to the throne and THOR finally accepted that he must become king of Asgard. After Ragnarok began and THOR figured out how to end it all for good which meant the destruction of both Asgard and all its enemies, THOR went to sleep/oblivion until the day his hammer fell to Earth and Donald Blake retrieved it and later called THOR back to Earth.

But I've noticed that when their counterparts in comic book universes do the same things against beings of similar power, people howl and complain. If any of you read the Superman/Batman story arc Supergirl, Batman confronts Darkseid in an attempt to persuade him to leave Supergirl alone. Batman knows Darkseid far outmatches him in power, so he brings along a Mother Box and steals armor from Darkseid's soldiers for aid. No, Batman did not attempt to outfight Darkseid like he would Bane as he is on an entirely different level. Bring along the right equipment was the right idea. It didn't stop people from complaining however.

Are characters who do the exact same things in fantasy (Wulfgar and Drizzt in Forgotten Realms defeating a White Dragon) overlooked unintentionally when it comes to this? I suppose what made me think about this is what I referred to earlier: mortals do the same things in fantasy that they do in comics. You could even say those characters are medieval super heroes in their own right.
You should have seen all the angry Hulk fans when Hulk recently fought ZEUS, King of Olympus and was soundly trashed by Zeus

I've observed in the past that bases can be safe but of late the mapserver while in my assorted bases has been.....odd...at times. Shadow Shard and PvP zones should be safe due to low population. Ouroborus should be safe but hard to tell. AFK'ing in RWZ/Cim/Pock D would be a bad idea.

My complaint isn't about me not getting it, understand me. It's about you AFKing in a base all day to get it. The core of my complaint is that, historically (and I'll amend this shortly), these sort of tactics lock out willing participants from attending an event for the benefit of others who are basically doorsitting for the same event.

(I also have extreme distaste for AFKing for any badge. Look up any of my posts about Day Jobs, and you'll see where my ire comes from.)

But apparently, you're in luck. I just had a helpful chat with someone on this. For this particular test, the goal really is to test overall server capacity, not zone participation; AND, they really don't believe we'll bring the server to the point of lockout, even if we hit that high 3500 mark, or even higher; AND, for this event, if you can't be there in person, AFKing in a base would actually HELP their test, in this one instance. I wasn't expecting the last two to be confirmed, but there you go.

So, Dragynn, I retract my complaints to you on this tactic, and apologize for my drubbing. If you need a base to AFK in, let me know and I'll invite you to my SG to accommodate. Same goes to anyone off-server who needs it who won't be in attendance. Let me know here or in-game if you're interested.
As an alternative, instead of AFK in base which is fine unless the map server has a glitch, go to Ouroborus and set yourself into Flashback mode which should still prevent AFK timeout. Then activate all your hide settings so that while you are away your pals wont think you are online and ignoring them, then find a nice quite corner of Ouroborus, or the Shadow Shard zones and pitch a tent to camp out in. Or while in Flashback mode, park in a safe spot in a PVP zone and while you are at work you can work on the "be in zone for 5 hrs badge" as well as get the event badge.

I appreciate the backstory though I just don't know who Thanos is and all that (never read comics). At first when you said Thanos I thought you were talking about The Beyonder (only 'god like' being that I remember in any cartoons...in Spider-Man's cartoons in the 90s of course ).

There we go, that's what I like; short and sweet! hehe....
Thanos is basically Marvel's version of DC's Darkseid. He is mainly known as a nihilist, worships death and for a time was the lover of the personification of Death itself. His first great scheme was to get the Cosmic Cube and use it the way he did and became one with the universe, hence he became god. Captain Mar-Vell divined Thanos' weakness and shattered the cube, thus defeating him.

After recovering from that defeat he came back with the soul gems to destroy the stars one by one to regain the affection of Death. He was stopped when Adam Warlock arose from the dead (or rather his soul gem) and turned Thanos to stone. Warlock returned to the Soul Gem and stayed there for years with his friends, knowing peace at last.

Soon after that, Captain Mar-Vell would perish from cancer and then Drax the Destroyer would also be slain. That pretty much ended Marvel's cosmic tales of that era.

In the 90's Jim Starlin takes over the Silver Surfer series and beings back his creation; THANOS. Death restores Thanos to right a universal imbalance in that there are more beings alive in the universe now then have ever died and Death needs Thanos' unique abilities for destruction to correct this problem. He comes back, stronger then ever and the Surfer is the one meant to lead the charge against him. Thanos now knows the true nature of the soul gems, and realizes they are best called the Infinity Gems and gathers them to form the Infinity Gauntlet, total control over souls, minds, time space, reality and power. Far greater then the Cosmic Cube ever gave him.

The cosmic cube is essentially a cosmic version of Aladdin's lamp. Whoever wields the cube can have just about anything he wants and do whatever they want.

The Red Skull has been notorious for using a Cosmic Cube against Captain America, but perhaps the most infamous use of it was when THANOS of TITAN gained the cube back in the old Captain Mar-Vell days. His wish was simple: to become one with the universe and thus become god. The cube apparently used all its power and Thanos cast the cube aside. HE was now one with the universe and apparently didn't need the cube anymore. However even as the heroes fought him, Mar-Vell's cosmic awareness divined THANOS' weakness and he smashed the cube. This restored reality and apparently killed Thanos. Thanos would later return with 5 of the Soul Gems and energies he siphoned from Adam Warlock's soul gem to create a synthetic gem to destroy stars. The gems were dispersed, Warlock was killed by Thanos and arose and turned Thanos to stone.

THanos would return years later in the Silver Surfer and create the infinity gauntlet

Other cubes would be created since.

Also take note of the two Marvel movie references in the dialogue:

The Destroyer arrives and an agent asks Coulson "is that one of Stark's designs?" Coulson "I don't know, he doesn't tell me anything"

Or when Jane Foster's fellow scientist (memory cramp on character name) mentions that he knows of shield and how a colleague of his who is an expert on gamma rays disappeared after SHIELD contacted him......

Saddened that the Asgardians and Frost Giants are now advanced extra terrestrials and not actual gods and giants, respectively, as I remember in the comic. But if they're going to go with that new twist, then they did a good job of convincing me (I could tell from the trailers that was what they were intending to do, so I went in with an open mind).

I still prefer my frost giants 15-20 feet tall, but Jotunheim was nicely depicted as dark and lifeless and Asgard's splendor was definitely spot on.

Seeing Thor let fly his hammer upon a frost giant's face with its expectant return to his hand gave me a woody (sorry, ladies, but it did).

Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Hopkins were exceptional in their roles. Was a nice surprise seeing Hemsworth, a new actor (to me), do so well but I knew Hopkins would deliver in his role.

Loved seeing J. Michael Stracynski's cameo (first guy on scene of Thor's hammer, in the red pick-up truck) - love his work with Babylon 5, although I've only recently in the last few years have become aware of his writing for several comics, obviously Thor being one of them. I stopped collecting comics about 15 years ago.

Stan Lee's cameo was enjoyable as well. Wish I knew what Walt Simonson looks like in real life so I could find out if he had a cameo. His artwork and writing is what I enjoyed most of my Thor reading, back in the day.

Only thing I missed was Baldur the Brave. Was he in the movie at all and I somehow completely missed him?
Walt Simonson was in the movie, his cameo is when the camera focuses on him near the end of the movie at the Asgardian feast/celebration. Graying beard/mustache, receding hairline, camera's on him for about 30 seconds.
  16. So, does the mystery badge for the 27th have a name yet? Also are there other badges for fighting the event critters as well?

    X-Men: First Class

and also Super 8 (which seems like an ET remake except ET is POed).

At the big celebration in Asgard the camera will pause on a gentleman with a graying mustache/beard and receding hairline.......Walter Simonson one of the definitive THOR writers. I think JMS had his cameo at that point to but I missed him. Stan's was hilarious.

What would be nice is that if in every Marvel movie that features characters that Jack Kirby helped create that we get something more besides his name in the credits "Hulk created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby". Some character named Kirby that makes an appearance, or Reed of the FF saying there is a disturbance on my sensors, it's in the Kirby nebula or something like that.

    In the case of Sinclair...

1episode "We're getting a new captain!" "where's sinclair?" "He went to minbar" "why?" "Someone wanted him there!"
Well with Sinclair there was a lot of behind the scenes studio politicking that was behind the decision to replace the actor. My memory is a bit dusty on the matter, but I don't think JMS wanted him gone but the decision was also out of his hands.

Also you may want to visit this link for some interesting details about the actor that played Sinclair.

    http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum...ael-ohare.html

At least they worked Sinclair's departure into the revised story by making him the leader of the Rangers and how he reformed them in modern times after Valen first created them 1000 years ago, then of course we get the resolution to Babylon 4 and the revelation that Sinclair's life is temporal circle in that he IS Valen and must go back with B4 or history changes.

Makes one wonder what could have happened if Sinclair were killed before he went back to become Valen:

    1. Another becomes Valen
    2. History for the past 1000 years alters to in the dark future we saw where the Shadows were even stronger.

The problems with it that i have largely come from pacing and a lot of stuff happens off camera... like almost every cast switch in the series.

Sinclair, the first doctor, Lyta, Ivanova, and just about every about every cast switch you hear about them having left in between episodes up until the very last season where everyone is leaving.

Speaking of the last season... I would have loved to see that cast get a chance to shine... having 2 strong female leads, the new Narn ambassador, and Vir Koto... and possibly a new Mimbari ambassador... though like they said in the last episode them leaving did make it sort of redundant...to which they should have made B5 the home port of the Alliance which would have made more sense than moving it to mimbari... They were buying the station any ways so wth? and that leads me to my other problem with the series...

It's called something like the first fully planned out sci-fi tv series ever, but I've seen better laid out and executed series. A war every season is just stupid when you consider it is a year each season and if they were really series about making a new franchise they should have planned out waaaaay further and took their time telling the stories in a more realistic time line. (which btw...all the war and such are accelerated but apparently having all the advanced tech around for some reason has them with a pretty slow learning timeline from what we see in the future eps) characters leave off screen as if they didn't know they were going to lose them as part of the cast while at the same time many things in the show are "just so" moments where a lot of things just happen due to the story needing them to happen rather than them happening plausibly.

(next part may be a bit too politcal/religious oriented. It's political philosophy and supporting a given political stance, but rather how that given political philosophy acts within those occurrences)
And lastly for a show that tried to set down such political ideals they really did sort of mess up. They had Penn and Teller on there and they were unallowed to do anything political messages. They tried raise the ideals of the secular government, but noone raised an issue with the whole "what's earth's major religion" which should have been straight said that none are endorsed over another OR it should have been expressed in better language that the freedom of choice is held above any given religion. G'Kar put in that all religions are "sacrosanct" but that is antithetical to a secular organization trying to promote peace. You simply can not hold all beliefs to be sacrosanct as most religious beliefs are contradictory and are unresolvable if both are held sacred. No government of the nature we are talking about would ever hold to that. They seem to not understand their own political philosophic beliefs and while they wanted to promote secularism, unity, and peace they did quite a lousy job and described a world which could never reach those goals due to their own inability to understand the problem with both secularism and the sacrosanctness of religion.

    (end of political/religous discussion)

Overall the show seems more of a jumbled mess than a well thought out story, but a pretty entertaining ride.
As far as cast changes happening off camera, well things like that can happen.

Patrica Tallman who played Lyta Alexander: I think it was a salary issue or she was pregnant, not sure which.

The station doctor and first officer changing from pilot to series, not unheard of for changes to occur between a pilot and series start. Plus it makes sense that Earth's govt. would want to have words with a doctor and telepath that saw a Vorlon.

Commander Sinclair.....acting skills or lack thereof not withstanding, there were many behind the scenes politicking about him that prompted his removal. Though it was good they got him back to wrap up the whole Babylon 4 story.

Talia Winters: as I recall the actress wanted to leave the show, or it was money issue: can't recall which. But her removal via the "Secret personality" thing was odd since one would think that when Jason Ironheart boosted her powers he would have detected and removed that secret personality. Also that sub plot of Kosh recording her mind wasn't followed up on. Though I did chuckle at how Bester in S3 made it clear that Talia was gone for good. "we learned many interesting things from her in the course of her debriefing and dissect......er....examination."
  21. Well yesterday, my badge hunting MM secured the final 4 missing blueside badges. I assembled a league of 13 blueside incarnates who all wanted to test their might by hitting Recluse Victory and destroying Recluse and his lieutenants. With 13 incarnates of varying power levels on the team it was almost......too easy. But musn't complain. Now my MM has all possible red and blue badges for a Cov character created at Cov launch, Celebrant, BH, Passport are on the unattainable list, and of course there are vet badges yet to be obtained.

Also I noticed that there is a 7th anniversary badge called Lucky that started rewarding as I logged in late last night.
  22. As tempting as Flight would be I don't think I'd choose it. With Superman he has the whole powers package, flight, super strength/durability/endurance/speed, and assorted special sensory powers.

But Superman can fly at supersonic speeds and achieve orbit, etc. because of all his other powers. Invulnerability means that heat, friction or cold temperatures he'd encounter at certain altitudes and speeds wouldn't faze him. His super lungs would easily be able to process the air he breathes at those speeds and thin air at high altitudes would also not bother him.

if one of us obtains the power to fly like superman, but not get all the other benefits, then your speed, flight time, max altitude, etc will be a fraction of Superman's.

As for what power I'd want.....well a GL power ring comes to mind as it is the one ring of the entire spectrum that seems to be the least harmful to its wearer (unlike Red and orange) but I think I'd rather have the power of the GHOST RIDER. (preferably without having to sell my soul). A quasi-indestructible/immortal spirit of vengeance riding the roads, sensing the guilt in others and delivering the penance stare to burn the souls of the wicked.....plus a cool motorcycle too.
