  3. The first movie was well done the others were not. The TV series was horrid. Also I think the Crow franchise suffers a bit from the fact that Brandon was killed while making the first one. Let this franchise go people.

  5. Ok by now many have seen it and for me this movie was a mixed bag.

First I saw it in 2D and skipped the 3D showings as I feel that 3D wasn't necessary to see this movie.

So what did we get in this movie: we got the Hal Jordan from Emerald Dawn.....reckless, immature, irresponsible, and also completely mentally hamstrung over watching his father die. Then we got elements of GL:Rebirth in the form of Parallax as the big bad enemy..... sadly these things did not combine well. Where was Hal Jordan, rough tough test pilot and cowboy/James T.Kirk/Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers combined who is indeed fearless? He sure wasn't in this movie. Don't get me wrong I liked Emerald Dawn the comics for the overall origin story but didn't like how Hal was written in them either.

Ryan Reynolds: sorry, but not a good choice at all for Hal Jordan, he was acting more like Ryan Reynolds and not the space cowboy that Hal Jordan is supposed to be. For pete's sake this is Hal "I am not impressed by Batman's theatrics and can deck Batman in ONE PUNCH" Jordan! Casting him as Kyle Rayner would have been better.

Nice FX for the emerald power, and the ring and battery looked great. Also nice CGI for the assorted members of the Lantern Corps and Kilowog could only have been done by CGI, sorry CGI haters. The Guardians being CGI......eh. I suppose that was better then finding little people to put blue makeup on.........good characterization of the Guardians too....atrophied and reluctant to take action or order the Lanterns into action....just like the Guardians prior to GL:Rebirth.

Planets Ryut and OA as CGI....no objections.

Nice humor about the mask and how it is ineffective in hiding Hal's ID from those that know him well.

The overall drama and tension between Hal and Carol: meh. At least it was better then the total lack of chemistry between Hayden and Natalie in Attack of the Clones......

Abin Sur: nice backstory establishing him as the one Lantern to defeat and lock up Parallax. A bit surprised that he didn't have much time to tell Hal about the ring and battery like he always did in the comics but I guess for the movie it was needed. Though having the ring speak to Hal like it has done in the comics would have been nice too.

Hal trying to learn how to use the ring and battery in his apartment....ok I was so having a bad flashback to the Greatest American Hero as Ralph would try to work the suit after losing the manual.....ugh. Nice joke tributes to Toy Story and He-Man.....

Parallax being a renegade guardian that became contaminated by the yellow power.....seems like a blend of Krona and Appa Ali Apsa.....(i've often believed that it was parallax that drove Appa Ali APsa nuts back in GL Vol 3). Parralax as a giant cloud....ok did someone decide that having Galactus as an energy cloud in FF2 was so good that they could do this again in the GL movie? Granted a giant yellow insect may not have gone over well in the theatres but still......ah well......at least Clancy Brown was a good choice to voice Parallax.

Sinestro pushing the Guardians and persuading them to create the yellow ring....nice set up for a sequel and of course the end credits scene of him putting on the ring was not unexpected...

Hal vs. Parallax ALONE???? Hello, Lantern Corps! What the blazes was that? A group of GL's fail so you let a rookie human, by the way the human has no respect from any GL at this point due to being a human and the aliens looking on humans with contempt....but that's ok go fight Parallax alone! Good grief writers, it took the combined willpower of 4 human GL's in the comics to contain Parallax again and it took the combined power of Hal's will AND THE SPECTRE to purge Hal of being infested by Parallax in GL Rebirth!

Overall I dont think the writers did enough homework on this. Plot was a bit weak and characterization was bad and so was Ryan Reynolds.

May the next GL movie be a reboot.

We'll still get the basic badges every three months (at least the current ones), however i believe the extra badges where you can claim rewards (ie, Sands of Mu vs. Ghost-Slaying Axe), and the various rewards themselves (ie, Boxing Gear), will be changed, so they are available elsewhere for us to pick and choose what we want, with more control over when we get it (ie, which order), too.

Positron also said in the uStream, something along the lines of:

'We'll never take badges away again, we've learnt our lesson there', when someone asked about Jailbreak and Isolator.
Even if the tutorial is changing, as long as Ouroborus contains the old ones then Jailbreak and Isolator will be possible.

As to the Vet badges, if I can buy up the rest of them using Reward points that would be great as I've wanted them out of the way for some time.

The team wide buff of speed boost though easier isn't very good to those who do not wish it. Some people simply have trouble moving with it on. Can there be a setting that allows us to be prompted if we wishes to be buff? Kinda like with the tp, some of us enjoy having a prompt ask us if we wish to accept a tp or not. This will cut down on in team fights of those who wish a speed boost vs those who do not.
Locate Null the Gull sitting atop the truck inside Pocket D, you can select things like turn off the run effect from SB (you still get SB's other benefits).

I myself look forward to visiting Null the Gull as I do not like having my alts zooming around like runaway cruise missiles because of kinetics with the attitude of "I eat crank for breakfast and will give you SB whether you want it or not".

I'm looking at this issue on my Fire/DB tank. My solution so far is to suck it up, slot the Obliteration, chew on blues and go for cardiac alpha.
I've been tinkering in mids for my DB/Fire brute and I think I finally got a nice defense build for him that doesn't feel gimped. PM me if you want it Gavin and see if it converts well to a tank.

As was pointed out up-thread, Kirk is captain of the Enterprise five years ahead of schedule. He should be dealing with the stuff Pike originally encountered and we never saw.
That was me that pointed that out. So will Kirk encounter Planet Talos and will it still become the planet that Starfleet will forbid travel to under penalty of death?

How about the vampiric cloud that drained blood from its victims? Kirk first encountered it when he served on the Faragutt and remembered it years later as Captain of the Enterprise when they found it again.

    How about the DOOMSDAY machine?

How about Kirk's trip to the Mirror Universe and how we saw in an episode of DS9 what the ramifications of Kirk's speech to goatee Spock were? For that matter does Kirk getting the Enterprise early in this new timeline also affect the mirror universe?

and of course we cannot forget that somewhere in space drifts a certain old ship by the name of BOTANY BAY........

How about how down the line we get visited by the Probe that needed to speak to humpback whales?

Those are some old story points that should be drastically affected by this time change and Kirk gaining the Enterprise 5 years ahead of schedule.

Also as I recall from the original timeline, Pike took the Enterprise on a 5 year mission the ship gets a refit/upgrade, then Kirk gets it for his 5 year mission in TOS. After that we get the Motion Picture with the Enterprise rebuilt/upgraded and Kirk reclaims it to stop V'ger and then apparently uses his fame and glory from that victory to get the ship for another 5 year mission. After that he is relegated to Starfleet Academy and bored out of his mind and restless, then comes Khan's Wrath, death of Spock, Spock restored and original Enterprise (which in that movie was stated to be 20yrs old) destroyed, and Starfleet insisting that Kirk remain an Admiral and work at Starfleet Academy vs. being in charge of a ship, until Kirk brought back the whales to stop that probe......

So things are now very much askew from the old timeline.

And yes, Picard was definitely more crazy in his younger days. One of the better episodes of TNG was when Q let him go back to fix a mistake from his wilder, earlier days in the Fleet, which of course made him into the captain he was (it also features one of my favorite Q quotes ever "Is there a John Luck Pickerd here?"). The later movies probably overdid the romance angle for him, but... it's not like a lot of ladies don't like Patrick Stewart anyway.
Yeah, Nemesis was bland and just didn't seem that well thought out, plus I attribute weariness from some of the cast members for having to come back and play the roles again.

I liked that Q episode that you mention, especially how it started as Picard is dying and he enters the clouds, takes the hand of the angel who steps forward and it's Q! "Welcome to the afterlife, Jean-Luc. You're dead!" Picard's response "I can't believe you are in charge of the afterlife, Q!" Q: "Why not?" Picard "The universe is not THAT badly designed!"

I disregard Star Trek: Nemesis, by the time that movie came out the franchise, imo, was already beyond repair. Voyager did heavy damage, imo, and Enterprise was a small bandaid for a gaping wound.

Borg Queen was an interesting idea, as while the Borg may be a hive mind one would think there would be some Borg that helps stabilize and maintain the hive mind.

As to Picard, meeting the legendary Kirk may have influenced him a bit. Also there were some episodes of TNG that seemed to show that Picard was a bit similar to Kirk back in his academy days and mellowed a bit over the years and became more of a diplomatic Captain vs. the "Cowboy Diplomacy" that Kirk was known for.

Yes, but I would think that they would have scanned space to see if Kirk's body was floating around after the hull was breached. No body being found I would think would raise Spock's eye brow.

In the Shatnerverse novels, Spock did indeed investigate things after Veridian 3 was attack and Spock who was at Kirk's grave on that planet watched as a transporter beam targeted the grave and beamed up Kirk's body.

Spock punched up a list of all of Kirk's enemies and began to eliminate both via logic and official records as to which ones were dead and which ones would have had the monetary means, scientific abilities as well as sheer hatred of Kirk to still be around after 80 years of Kirk being thought dead to attack his grave. Ryker and Troi were watching and Ryker pointed at one picture that Spock didn't eliminate and said "But Khan's dead." Spock simply said "I know.", but left Khan as a suspect anyway. That speaks volumes of how much Khan hated Kirk.

I hope that whatever sequel we get doesn't bring in Khan.

Wasn't there a plan for the recent reboot movie for Spock Prime to have a recorded holo message from Kirk that he keeps to remind himself of their friendship, and wasn't he going to show that to young spock?

Also in the old series, Spock hijacks the Enterprise and risks his life and that of Kirk's to deliver Captain Pike to Talos where he can at least have a semblance of a life for the rest of his days. This was all due to Vulcan honor towards his former Captain. Thus I'm surprised there wasn't a movie or a major storyline in one of the other Trek series after Kirk perished in Generations with Spock thoroughly investigating what happened to his friend and seeing if it were possible to undo it. Too late now of course.
  18. Given that now many L50's are sufficently "incarnated", I've been on teams that steam roll through the missions without failing any of them. But given that not everyone is an incarnate with all their alts then perhaps the following change wouldn't hurt:

    1. Make Penelope a rescue, she then leaves and the Clockwork King is berzerk and attacks the team in his rage.

For Mission 3, there is one change that MUST occur: Infernia needs to STOP BEING SO CHATTY.
  19. I can agree with most of the list except the Tom Jane Punisher and Ang Lee Hulk.

Technically, the movies are on a different time track now; Kirk died in Generations, but that was in the original time track. Now that there's been so much changed, you could make a case for Jim Kirk living to a ripe old age in this new time track.

On the other hand, it's probably for the best to put aside time travel kind of stuff for a while. Trek tends to lean a little too hard on it, sometimes.
Aye with the reboot now things have changed, such as Kirk becoming the Enterprise Captain 5 years ahead of schedule due to Pike's injuries. That changes a lot of things around compared to the original timeline.

Picard gets swept into the Nexus and there he meets Kirk. They reenter the time stream and stopped Soran's plan. However now comes the paradox: if Picard never enters the Nexus then Kirk couldn't have come out, thus while A Captain Kirk dies on Veridian 3, there should still be ANOTHER Kirk in the Nexus.

Correct. Hal was on the west coast and Guy was on the east cost so that would also put both Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent as too far away given the fact that Abin Sur's time was running out.

There was a later story that showed Abin's crash and the ring selected a candidate and brought him to him but it was Clark Kent. Upon scanning him and seeing that he was Kryptonian, Abin told him that only natives of the planet/sector could be chosen. Clark gave him some first aid to prolong his life and Abin memory wiped him and sent him back. The ring then detects Hal and Guy and Abin chose Hal since time was running out and Hal was closest.

(Krypton was in Tomar Re's sector and there was a tale about how Tomar failed to save Krypton but the Guardians forgave him for that as Tomar's failure still gave rise to Superman)

In Superman TAS: Abin's ring went to the Daily Planet and latched onto Kyle Rayner, however had Clark been there at the time and not out as Superman I suspect the ring would have gone to him.
  23. Rooted is 90% speed penalty and Granite is 70% and they stack for 160%. 85 to 90% run speed boost from IO is good. Don't forget the 65% recharge penalty from granite.

Now thanks to inherent fitness and incarnate slotting I've retooled my own turbo stoners a bit. Things like Crystal Armor and Minerals I used to use as mules but have now tossed them aside in favor of things like stealth and maneuvers for the defense IO such as LOTG+Recharge and GOTA+run speed, and of course those powers also help the defense cap as well. Also Tier 3 or Tier 4 cardiac augments all resistances so you can get that for the alpha and thus perhaps not use a few slots in stone skin or else where for resistance cappage and divert them to defense cap or to attack powers.
