Tried CO and after 30 minutes uninstalled it. Might try it again but not likely. DCUO is okay and I am tempted to pay for the light pack to become a Green Lantern. Character creation in both is a bit restrictive but then again I am F2P and do not know if that changes for paying customers.
SWTOR: good for soloing or teaming, interesting story and adventures to have. Having played KOTOR 1 and 2 I was already used to how characters would be made and how costumes change as you obtain new gear. Very gear driven, but still fun to play.
Tried Secret World, they are now speculating about going F2P.
Waiting for more info on Marvel and Transformers Universe. -
Quote:Now that I look forward to. There are a lot of Avengers and not all of them are going to eagerly jump on the "stop the Punisher" bandwagon. Also there's the Punisher: War Zone mini series set to start. Deals with the Avengers (Iron Man, Capt. America, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Black Widow) agreeing to put a stop to the Punisher once and for all.
Some of them may feel that the Punisher is a necessary evil. I can see Wolverine thinking like this.
Captain America, and Daredevil will unquestionably want to stop the Punisher. Also the Punisher has shown in the past that he doesn't want to fight Cap (Civil War). Spidey will also want to jump in on this viewpoint of stopping the Punisher.
Iron Man: well, knowing how they've shown Stark in the past I can see him going with the view point that the Avengers are meant for world threatening/cosmic level menaces like Thanos, Galactus, Ultron, Kree/Skrull wars, etc. he could easily see that going after the Punisher will be a waste of time and resources.
THOR: presuming he's in this story he could well state that this is an affair for mortals to decide and stay out of it. Or he could view the Punisher as suffering from what Asgardians call "warriors madness" and agree that Punisher should be stopped. However as Asgardians are all warriors and they all live for the fight which includes killing enemies and monsters, he may also view the Punisher as unworthy of his time or may even agree that the Punisher is a necessary evil.
HULK: Punisher has met and fought alongside the Hulk before. Also given that Banner and Hulk are two relatively different minds, each one could have a different viewpoint on the Punisher. I could see Banner agreeing that he should be stopped, but HULK may view it differently.
Luke Cage and Iron Fist: I can see Iron Fist wanting to stop the Punisher, Luke Cage however has also fought alongside the Punisher (back when Frank was temporarily change to black skin, no I am not making that up), and Cage may not overly endorse killing but he may also realize that the streets are a bit safer thanks to the Punisher and a lot of street punks live in fear of when Punisher will target them.
Black Widow: she is a highly trained spy/covert op/assassin. For her killing is about as natural as breathing. Hard to say which way she will go on this, she may follow orders to stop Punisher but her heart may not be in it.
Mockingbird: former SHIELD agent and trained killer. She may feel that she should follow orders but not like it.
VISION: hard to say. He may agree that the Avengers time and resources are best spent elsewhere.
Red Hulk: General Ross is a soldier just like Cap and the Punisher. He may well see Punisher as a rogue soldier that is out of control, not that Ross is one to talk about that, and decide that help bring him in similar to when Flash Thompson/Venom took the symbiote and went AWOL.
Flash Thompson/Venom: he is a soldier and trained to kill and may also agree that the Punisher is a rogue soldier that needs to be stopped. On the other hand the symbiote may alter his thinking on the matter, hard to say.
The Beast: to my knowledge Hank McCoy has always been against terminal force and believes people have the right to a fair trial. He would likely want to stop the Punisher. -
Quote:Probably also the original ED-209 will have a similar appearance.Heard rumors that the original Robocop design would show up as a prototype rejected by the OCP board of directors.
Also will this Robocop keep the fast draw/gun twirl that the original had?
I'd also expect that Directive 4 will be back as part of this Robocop's programming.
Also certain favorite lines should be in this as well:
"Dead or alive, you are coming with me!"
"Come quietly or there will be......trouble."
Ok that tears it, I need to watch my Criterion Director's unrated cut of the original movie now.... -
Quote:Heh......I am now picturing an entire team composed of the INCREDIBLE HULK!I wonder how they intend to handle people playing the same character teaming?
I wouldn't mind playing as Nick Fury, or even Coulson.
HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! -
Well people are likely trying other MMO's at this time in case the game does go dark.
I've been able to maintain teams and trials over the weekend but I have noticed the population drop. Can't say as I blame some people for leaving in a huff but the more that log in and attempt to play can't hurt the quest to save COH.
Or if nothing else, put your alt into Ouroborus mode to avoid AFK timeout and park it outside city call in Atlas and set it to the torch emote like others do, then switch to something else for awhile. -
I'll be checking this game out, the idea of playing only as Marvel characters is both appealing and unappealing at the same time. I like making my own characters, however the chance to be characters like the HULK, IRON MAN, GHOST RIDER have a nice appeal too.
Here's hoping they include the John Blaze and Dan Ketch Ghost Riders, also the 60's GR now known as the Phantom Rider, Adam Warlock and Captain Mar-Vell as playable characters. -
Quote:Overall your best bet is wait until the current dreck that is Avengers vs X-men is finished and Marvel relaunches with MARVEL NOW!.Hey all,
Before we all disappear, I wanted to pick the brains of all the comic book fans out there.
Many years ago I used to collect comics voraciously, but had to stop due to the inevitable financial reasons kicked in. Back then, I started out by collecting DC Comics, mostly because I was more familiar with the flagship names, such as Superman and Batman. (this was when Bat Fever hit the world back in '88) I also realised just how many different titles there were and how expensive it would get and had to make the decision which company to follow, DC or Marvel.
DC won, simply because the sheer amount of Marvel comics on the shelf, including what seemed to be about 500 X-Men titlesjust seemed to costly.
Now, having got back in to comics over the previous 10 years or so, especially after playing CoH so much, I managed through various means to start reading comics properly once more. Having decided to continue with DC Comics as I loved them so much, I decided that the best "jumping on" point was the Crisis on Infinite Earths and as such, have been reading almost all the DC Comics since then, currently up to about 2003 comics (Yeah, I know, still 9 years to go, but I'm getting through them fast!)
Anyway, I know that eventually, probably within the next year, I will be reaching the current DC stuff and I then want to move on to Marvel comics.
The thing is, I don't know Marvel that well and am not sure what is the best place to start!
So, comic book fans, what do you think? Is there a Crisis style event that would be a good place to start? Am i looking at a similar era, the mid 80's or should I start earlier? Or later? I don't really want to go back too far, as that gets very expensive then, but nor do I want to miss out on too much of the back history of the characters either, so the challengs is to find a good year, or event, or crossover to start with. Thankfully, I can fill in a lot of the blanks in the history thanks to the web, Wikipedia etc, but I appreciate the skills of the comic fans on here
The current story in Incredible Hulk has been rather bad until the latest ish #13, which finally gives some story answers and gets HULK and Banner to stop their decades long mental feud and work together to stop Dr. Doom.
Avengers vs X-men also served as a springboard to launch the new Captain Marvel series with Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel taking the name Captain Marvel to honor the memory of Captain Mar-Vell who briefly returned in the Secret Avengers issues that tied into the AvX event.
Thunderbolts will be relaunched with Red Hulk, Elektra, Deadpool and the Punisher on the team with Red Hulk in charge. I have a hunch that Punisher won't be on the team for long and will get yet another solo series after he leaves this book.
Scarlet Spider: the adventures of Kaine the clone of Spiderman. Interesting series that so far is better then regular Spidey books. Of course I'm biased against all things Spiderman until the Mephisto Marriage Erasure is undone. -
Quote:Definitely more streamlined then the original. If my memory serves Peter Weller and the subsequent Robocop actors expressed quite a bit of discomfort while wearing the old suit, this one looks to be more comfortable and allow greater range of movement. Here's a first look at what Robocop will look like in the upcoming reboot
Here's hoping for Peter Weller cameo, a cameo of the old Robocop suit (likely as a rejected design or prototype design) and that he still has the gun holster in his leg. -
It was pretty funny, perhaps not quite as funny as Robot Chicken Star Wars but still good for laughs.

This. After not enjoying character creation process I took the game for a spin, after about 20 minutes I shut it down and uninstalled it.
I found DCUO to be fairly enjoyable and am tempted to get the fight for Light pack so that I can join the GLC. But for now it's COH to the end unless the game gets saved.
Basically for super hero MMO's it's: COH > DCUO > CO. Cant judge the Marvel one yet as beta isn't until Oct 1st. Transformers Universe looks promising also. -
I think Tues/Thusday server maintenance is still happening.
-
Quote:THIS.
Don't delete your toons and walk away. The game is not over until the servers go dark, game on! Sign the petitions, join the protests in Atlas, help keep COH alive! -
Quote:Well evil and insanity are not necessarily the same. Most acts of villainy naturally require being at least slightly not right in the head.
Red Skull, Apocalypse, Emperor Palpatine, the Shadows from Babylon 5 are what I would call pure evil either from birth or their upbringing or a bit both.
Norman Osborn: a ruthless businessman and not a great father. Was he evil or insane before he got dosed with the goblin serum or did the serum bring out something that was already there inside of him?
Magneto: part of his problem is that he grew up in Auschwitz during the war and due to the abuse and malnutrition his powers didn't manifest until after the war. if he had his powers during the war he would have toppled the Axis in a matter of days so he is haunted by guilt over that, plus he will not see mutants persecuted the way people were during the war. He won't let it happen again so for him the ends justify the means.
Silver Surfer: became the herald of Galactus to save his world from Galactus. In the process, Galactus reprogrammed the Surfer's mind to make him more suitable as herald. Does that make the Surfer evil? No.
Galactus: a force of nature beholden only to itself and certain powers of the universe. He is not malevolent and the worlds he consumes are chosen at random without malice, at least that is how it is supposed to be. Humans raise crops and animals for food purposes, Galactus operates in a planetary scale.
Joker: chaos personified. Why no one has put this guy down for good is astounding. -
This news is.....encouraging. Here's hoping.
Also on a slightly "devil's advocate" note: let's say the game is saved somehow (Im hoping that is saved, don't get me wrong), but would that mean the return of all the Paragon Studio staff? Some may not want to return for assorted reasons. -
Remember: it is not over until the servers go dark, sign any petitions you can to help keep this community alive. Or hope that someone buys up the game.

I only wish there would have been way for Primal Earth characters to convert alignment to "Praetorian" and thus gain all the Praetorian badge names for the Achievement badges.
-
In October they are releasing a Command and Conquer complete edition which includes ALL C&C games created and their expansions and it is supposed to grant access to their C&C MMO beta
-
1394 badges on both badge hunters. They are only missing Bug-Hunter, Passport and of course vet badges from the broken vet badge system.
Also I just shifted influence on all alts so that my 2 badgers are capped at 2 billion inf again. -
Quote:Possibly.Maybe we'll see the cap scene in a possible director's cut.
Or they can integrate it into Cap 2. I did like how he saw Peggy was still alive and thought about calling her.
Can't say as I blame him for not calling her, she might think it was a prank or else keel over from shock. Also what could Steve possibly say? "Sorry I was frozen for 70 years?"
If he makes contact with Peggy in Cap 2 it should be him going to the UK to see her in person. She should also be in her 90's so he should move fast to see her. -
Quote:I think Whedon or Marvel decided that any scenes or plot points of Cap adjusting to the time period were best saved for Cap 2. Such things didn't really belong in Avengers though yes that was a great scene.I don't know much about films, but I wonder how many of these deleted scenes were left on the editing floor and how many were more character exercises for the actors/directors/crew.
My girlfriend directs plays and one thing she does is have her actors act out a scene not in the play to help the actors shape their character's backstory and motivation. For example, in one play about a relationship's last day, she had them roleplay the day they met and some dates. She finds it helps both the actors and the director.
I can totally see the Cap'n scene serving this role. Though yes, that's a lot of production money thrown at throwaway scenes. -
Quote:No David Hasselhoff please.I'm guessing this show is going to end up being like "a day in the life of a random but lovable group of young S.H.I.E.L.D agents" who normally work behind the scenes but never directly get to see the "actual" heroes like Thor, Iron Man, etc. I'm sure they will themselves be pseudo-superhuman and may even have some low level super-powers and/or Jedi-like mind tricks.
Basically could end up being sort of like "X-Men: First Class" mixed with a bit of "Men in Black" and even some elements recylced from "Dollhouse". Whatever it turns out to be it'll be a Joss Whedon show so I'll definitely give it a chance regardless. -
Buffy and Angel pretty much ran their course, Firefly and Dollhouse are the ones that suffered a premature fate.

http://spinoff.comicbookresources.co...-reboot-panel/
Time to get my Reboot series box set and watch it again, fun times.
Too bad the Reboot Revival doesn't include the original creators and staff. Also they state at the Expo that they hope to one day give the official conclusion to Season 4 given how My Two Bobs ended with a major cliffhanger. "Prepare yourselves for the hunt!" -
Quote:I don't know about strictly following the source but they said we can expect the same type of dark and dry humor as well as things like "Drok" and "Grud" appearing on shirts or on walls at times.I consider it a standing challenge for any "book" based movie (comic or otherwise) to be a good enough movie on its own that a person coming in off the street can sit down and enjoy it without knowing the "details" that the book's enthusiast might know. We both know that a major motion picture studio will probably never make a comic book movie that ONLY comic book hyper-geeks would understand/enjoy.
To be honest if this new Judge Dredd movie turns out to be a genuinely good movie regardless if it strictly follows the source material or not I'll probably be satisfied with it. I've done my best over the years to not let comic book movies "upset" me like that anymore.
The costumes, bikes and lawgiver guns look to be faithfully replicated and Karl Urban looks and sounds like he's nailed the character.
He also hopes that if there is a sequel that we get the Dark Judges
