This is good news. Some SOed builds (ah hem... supermax) would drop down to 25% HP before they could move... and this is from one dom attacking them.
-
that Mind/Psi and Grav/Elec is going to really hurt people...
-
I have a grav/psi as well, built in i9 for i15 shooouuu don't tell them about the new FoTM.

get a taunting tank, heavies, a good troller and blaster. Make sure they don't get side tracked and let you take the pill boxes. When a vill attacks the team, heal ur already buffed and hurt teammates and let them taunt, mezz, debuff, and attack and don't let them get lured into the villain base or stray to far from your farming objective. If they attack you use the power phase shift or get the temp phase power from warburg, and heal back up, and never stand still,,, you should be constantly jumping around with super jump no matter what your doing. And now after phase, you have 30 seconds to get back to base. Do not respond to any of the Broadcasts or tells about how bad a player you are. Now this is the most critical part... do not gain an inflated ego when ur team is killing a lot of villains and do not take it personal or get discouraged when you get killed a lot. Remember RV is a PvP zone and the players there are having fun killing each other and some enjoy talking smack as well. Also best time for farming pills is around 4am PST - 7am PST.

Taunt, Mezzes, Knock Up/Back, Webnades, toggled debuffs, the F button, and most important of all having a team.

why u guys making neeto bold and italic... it makes no sense... ima have to push you into some long bow... get that phase ready.

The most creative and accurate description of a Dominator I've seen in years!!!

You've played a controller right? Well take a controller and replace his secondary sets, which are buff/debuff, and replace them with the powers of a blapper.
You hold, stun, knock down, teleport, slow, immobilize your enemies then unleash your attacks when they can't fight back.
Much like a spider traps a bug, wraps it up, then starts chewing on it when it's completely unable to escape or defend itself.
[/ QUOTE ]
That makes a lot of sense and is pretty cool lol.
[/ QUOTE ]
yes cool but a spider is pretty squishy -
ok sure but first tell me what you what out of the build other than perma DP... is the tank a taunt bot? what secondary would you like him to have? is he primarily a zone PvP toon? both PvP and a little PvE? how much do you want to spend on IOs? Is your tank going to do fight club stuff or arena stuff?

How does your suggestion fix melee vs. ranged?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't suggest a fix because there is a fix already and it came from the PvEers and Castle recognized the need for these powers as something that gives us a unique role in PvP unlike any PvP role out there in the MMO genre... and if you don't have this power that all melee ATs except stalkers have access to than GL finding a role in PvP as a meleer other than a fight clubber. However, I'll give you a compliment and say you are on the brink of discovering the potential of what CoX PvP has to offer. -
This has RP written all over it... so i'll go with that logic. We are super heros first and foremost. Yeah sure, a normal human moving at supeman speeds will not hit the broad side of a barn even if given some of the most accurate weapons, but superman can, the flash can, quicksilver can, silver surfer can.
If thats not your RPing cup of tea and your hero is all natural for example, then don't get tactics, focused accuracy, aim, BU, targeting drone... heck don't even slot acc into your attacks. -

The ff/nrg/psi is very intriguing as well. I think the troller with stone mastery would probably be more survivable though seeing I will be doing mostly if not only zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your right the troller will be more survivable... the only down side to earth mastery is that you have to stand on the gorund to use Hurl Boulder and the animation time will either kill you, make you use earth's embrace, or make you phase. THe up side is that in 1on1s you will have a higher chance of runnning down the other guy b4 he kills you.
The defender, although seems to have a slightly better attack chain lacks any hard control and the epics provide no more significant gain in survivablilty. It's shields have better numbers but DR takes care of that. Mind/FF is the optimal FF choice for PvP overall not in certain cases but in most cases. -

I have a grav/FF I was considering doing a PvP build for, because I'm looking for something they can do at 50 besides run Disp Bubble at raids. I realize he won't be FOTM, but I'm hoping he can hold his own better then pre I13 when he was getting mezzed and killed in seconds through Disp Bubble. I'm wondering a bit about what powers are useful for general arena/zone play, though.
In particular, are Crushing Field, Repulsion Bomb and/or Fireball worthwhile for fighting against teams and MMs?
And are Detention Field and/or Force Bubble useful for disruption?
And finally, how do you slot Lift up to Mag 35, as the previous posted suggested?
[/ QUOTE ]
Crushing field has no real purpose for PvP when u can have crush. Most players scatter and jump around a lot and even if they need to be tied down to one area, there are no AoE damage powers that can perform any significant damage to hurt these huddled players... Its damage is minimal... you can stack -movment with it but applying your hold also stacks -movement so it's again useless in PvP.
Repulsion Bomb's damage is also minimal and the chance to stun means this is not a 100% KB power. It has a 3 sec + animation, which will get you killed or leave you very low on HP.
Much like any AoE power, Fire Ball also does not do good enough damage to warrant it being used in PvP unless your attack chain suffers from horrid recharge which no attack set really has. Fire blast can provide a noticeable boost to overall DPS for your troller better than psi and ice, but as you might expect, your opponent will be attacking back so you'll need a lot of defensive tools like elusitivity provided in the ice epic armor and hiberate. Power epic works nice as well especally when ur working with a and only with a good team. They will really appreciate your hold, however you don't have the same survivability that ice epic provides.
if you get ur Lift or Lev maxed with KB IOs it'll provide around 33.5 ponits of KU if u max Forcebolt it'll give ~48. If you are teaming use FB... if you are zoning, spec out of it since it only puts out 7 points of dmg.
Both detention field and Force bubble are situational. use DF on heavies, pets, and trouble players (it lasts about 8-10 seconds on a player). Use FB to reveal stalkers and keeping runners suppressed. GLHF -
well a grav/sonic can work... i know i sound like a noob or something, but i've pvped for a long time and if you play your cards right a grav/sonic can work. You need purples, PvP IOs, and lot and lots of know how and experience vs every combination of builds and team make up out there.... I don't think even i'm good enough of a driver to play a grav/sonic though :\ ...

the two essential blast powers u only need for pvp especially when u have a good amount of recharge are Neutrino Bolt and Cosmic Burst. If you are low on recharge, pick up X-Ray Beam. Rad has alot of options to throw in damage proc IOs in the attacks, so make sure you take advantage of that. you'll want to pick up Heat Exhaustion and try to perma this power while also making it very accurate. If you ever want to team you need at least the buff power forge for your teammates and eventhough you don't have to slot up the to-hit on it, you should slot up the recharge. For the most part try to get a lot of +recharge bonuses, +damage, +acc. IF you want to be a support team build slot in at least 40 points on knock back protection along +recharge and +acc.

grav/ff has good synergy from its -movment... this allows you to catch up to runners and suppress them (i did not say repel them, just suppress them). Mind/FF has TK which will suppress them so you'll catch them even faster, but you'll need good perception with that. With grav, you'll have to slot up lift to over 35 KU. On mind you don't even need to slot Levitate with any KU IOs since mind's hold does not resist KB/KU. Both are team builds and both bring differing strengths to the table. For team arena caller and disruption, i'd recomend mind as it has faster animation times and a guaranteed KU combo and an offensive auto hit toggle/hold though grav works pretty good there to if used right. Both are about the same for zone PvP. If your crazy enough to do 1on1s with and FFer id go with Fire/FF or ill/FF and only fight players with no repel res and no ranged mezzes. One more thing, these PvP builds are one of the rare builds where +recovery becomes important.

I pretty much win on my tank or force a draw vs. blasters (w/ dr on) even if my tank is speced for taunting... the numbers give the tank the advantage if they are just straight attacking each other. Skill plays a role here but you can only get to a point where skill no longer matters too much. With DR off, I have to force a draw by stalling and pretending i was fighting.
The above statement is not represented in my list of good to not so good PvP ATs because that list was based primarily on the important arena PvP games. -
Its pretty good but not really for novice users and the reduction to DP is not gonna help new pvpers using /psi neither. Decent for setting up spikes. The -movement is still useful even in i14 if you set up your target and anticipate that he's gonna run. DPS is is good if you build for it, but your burst damage is just no there. Mind/psi is still better in most cases but if you are running a storm team or turtle team, this dom might be better for that. Good for some 1on1s. Cage has very limited uses in arena but does a good job in RV.
