Quote:Trust me, should it crap out on me again I'll be back here in a flash with my list of startup items and whatever you want out of my system.log file.I should clarify in case someone else is testing along with us: I'm referring to Mac client game crashes, not kernel panic/system crashes.
If the game is still ill-behaved in 64-bit mode, then we have to get into finding out what you're loading at startup that I'm not or vice versa. -
Off topic: You're quite welcome! I'm glad I was able to give you some insight into your character's build/powers! I have an Illusion/Kinetic/Primal guide in the works, if you ever roll up a controller.
-
Quote:I did. I'm a mac-head myself; my father's worked for Apple for 20+ years and I worked for them for about a year before college ate me. I'm probably one of the few people who didn't need to google how to boot 64-bit.Make sure to reboot first so the 64-bit activates. I used this utility to set it for 64-bit:
http://seiryu.home.comcast.net/~seir...rswitcher.html
I'm *really* interested about whether this stops the crashes. The Mac client should not be requiring 64-bit, so if it does this is hopefully enough to get a quick fix from Transgaming.
Anywho, I'm running in 64-bit mode and I haven't crashed yet.
*frowns so hard R. Lee Ermey feels it* -

+2/x8. Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul mastery Brute. Switched from +1/x4 when I took Darkest Night.
-
Quote:No, actually. Would that be it? If it is I'm going to frown so hard R. Lee Ermey will feel it.Just out of curiosity Nalrok - are you booted in 32-bit or 64-bit mode?
If you don't know it's probably 32-bit. I have mine booted in 64-bit mode. Maybe that's the difference, since our hardware should be identical otherwise.
Edit: I wrote in a string to my boot.plist to get me booting in 64-bit from now on. Man, I feel silly. Now I'm using 64-bit. -
Unfortunately Tremor doesn't do great damage.
I rolled up an Ice/Dark over the weekend; let me just say that the -ToHit in /Dark is fantastic. I love Dark Melee, and pairing it with such a high-defense armor has made it even more fun for me. -

Quote:Nothing in the console, anywhere. I can't find a thing in Console that might denote a problem with the client. It just stops.Post the last few lines of your console log (Applications > Utilities > Console) after a crash, it might provide a useful clue. Also post your Mac model, RAM, video along with it.
See this:

Things have gotten infinitely worse. I can't sift out any crap-ups in Console from any log anywhere. I've done everything in your guide. Hell, I even reformatted and installed everything new (including CoH). I'm crashing after 10 minutes of play, give or take 3 minutes, every time I start the game. I'm at wit's end. If I Boot Camp, I no longer have right click on my trackpad. Windows will let me do it, but CoH doesn't recognize it. I can play without right click or buy a new external mouse, or I can crash every 10 minutes.
I got 3 levels in 8 hours. On a level 4. This is getting to be unacceptable. Normally I'm not the guy to ever act like this, or say what I'm about to say, but...
Whoever is in charge of the mac client seriously needs to get this BS fixed. This whole issue isn't old; in fact it's been around since the mac client launched. We play the game too. We don't like to pay money for a game that crashes more often than it works. Someone needs to fix it.
If I see "Assertion Failure" one more time I'm going to set my laptop on fire. -
Quote:Any chance of getting a time slot for us weekend warriors?Okay, got in early this evening and picked up an ITF on another of my toons. Was so busy not dying I didn't know I'd missed the start of Fire/Rads.
My apologies to everyone. Won't happen again.
On the flip side, you guys took the initiative and started up a Posi1. Good work!
Once done, I was able to join for a Posi2 too. However, it was rough going. VERY rough. The lag tonight was so atrocius that I had to call it. I was going at mobs, getting approximately NO attacks off, and dying instantly. then rubberbanding back and falling over dead. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad at even level and proper group size. But at +1x8 we were getting murdered. And all I could do was stand there and........watch.
GRRR!
We got about 2/3 of the way through Posi2. I promise I'll make it up to you guys next week.
Additionally, next week will be my first off this dang wireless connection and on something relatively stable (though calling AT&T DSL "stable" is like calling a gunshot wound "uncomfortable").
I'm actually kinda irked. This was the first time I've ever had to do this. And I hate losing. Hate it like poison. So I'm going to do my damndest to make sure it never happens again!
See you guys next week. Bright and early.
Also, been talking with a couple of you. I know that Monday at 9PM Eastern isn't always the greatest time or day for all of you. What would you guys say to an additional day for Fire/Rads another time during the week? And if so, what'd work for you? -
-
My sig-linked guide talks about Soul Mastery. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
-
Hyper, right now I'm sitting at level 11 on Virtue on my Fire/Rad. I have heard of your legendary superteams... and I want in. Would I be better off rerolling or should I pay for a server transfer? He's Praetorian so it might be better to hit 20, but again...
Reroll or transfer? I want to see what this AT Combo is capable of before I dedicate to it. -
Quote:Fair enough. You win 10 internet points for that one.Well of course it was a low chance of it happening. That doesn't mean you can't say that you agree with it.
I like that the universe decided not to implode today. Much better than the alternative. Of course, it didn't have much of a chance of doing that, but I'm still glad it didn't. -
Quote:Alright. But honestly, why would they remove PFF from the original FF set? I figured it'd be common sense not to think they'd pull something like that. That'd be like changing all S/L melee shields in place of changing Tough. You're reading it wrong.
He's saying that he'd rather have it go the way it is (the PPP version of PFF going away) than the other way (the /FF controller version of PFF going away). He knows that it's the PPP version that is going away, and he's glad that they went that way than the other way they could have gone. -
Not quite:
Quote:
And they HAD to change it, because Controllers have access to PFF in the Force Field set, and they don't allow us to have multiple copies of the same power available to an AT. That's why Conserve Power became Energize when tanks and scrappers got Electric Armor, because both ATs have access to Conserve Power in an APP. And since it still provides an end reduction to your powers when you use it, that change isn't breaking the cottage rule.
Personally, I'd rather see the Patron Pool get changed than see /FF controllers lose PFF.
I mean, I may be having a huge brain fart too. -

Quote:You'll have the same bonuses but the effectiveness of the enhancement will be much lower. The -kb is on the Zephyr Set, I'm putting it to reach the 3rd bonus (+1.875 def AoE, +0.9 Fire/cold def).
I have another question about sets and IO enhancements...
What is the difference between, let's say, a lvl25 Obliteration (+Dam) and a lvl50 Obliteration (+Dam) ? (except the price, obviously ^^).
If I slot any lvl of enhancements, as long as the sets are right, i'll have the same bonuses ?
Thx for your help,
Ryltaar
Now these aren't hard numbers, I'm just making this up:
Level 50 SuperMelee Acc/Dam: 30% Accuracy Buff, 30% Damage Buff
Level 25 SuperMelee Acc/Dam: 19% Accuracy Buff, 30% Damage Buff
(Again, just making stuff up to prove a point)
ETA: One with the Shield, IMO, needs to be sooner and better slotted in your build. Taking it at 49 and only putting a Health Enhancement in it is like ordering a cup of coffee and just putting a few grounds and a tablespoon of luke-warm water in it. Sure, it's sort of what you really want from a cup of coffee, but it's not the thing you're expecting. -
Hm, I may use Mental then for my APP. Can anyone give me any insight on Ice Mastery? I'm thinking that with the Rad Debuffs and AoE immobilize, Ice Storm will be an enemy-shredding power pick.
-
My friend Kybernetis Einheit has a 50 Bots/FF/Mace. It's damn near unstoppable, even without using BG Mode Tanking. You just sit back and order the offensive, and nothing ever hits you.
