Good-bye PFF
Focused Acc sounds pretty much useless for most Controllers. Either you have enough Debuffs not to need it or you just pick Tactics for yourself, your pets and your team.

I quite agree. I was hoping for a nice solid melee attack.
What about Mace Beam Volley? Mace Mastery is currently the only Controller APP that does not include an AOE attack, and it would almost certainly make more sense than an accuracy boost to an AT that has little need of it.

Actually Disruptor Blast is an AoE blast.
I wish this had been Power Boost.

Considering that knew about this problem before it went live, and told people not to take the power, I'd say that this isn't encroaching (too much) on the cottage rule.

The cottage rule would be if they took PFF and changed it into a Targeted AoE attack without changing the name of the power. (for example)
Since they are replacing one power with a completely different power, it doesn't fall under the cottage rule.
Cottage rule only applies when they make drastic changes to a power.
And they HAD to change it, because Controllers have access to PFF in the Force Field set, and they don't allow us to have multiple copies of the same power available to an AT. That's why Conserve Power became Energize when tanks and scrappers got Electric Armor, because both ATs have access to Conserve Power in an APP. And since it still provides an end reduction to your powers when you use it, that change isn't breaking the cottage rule.
Personally, I'd rather see the Patron Pool get changed than see /FF controllers lose PFF.

I think the use of the term Cottage Rule has expanded in general use from the initial example (changing Build Up to build a cottage) to cover the related issue of changing powers outright (such as when Gravity Controllers got Singularity instead of the weird team recall friend thing they used to have. So in terms of actual parlance and common usage, I feel that it applies.
We could of course make up some other term for total swap-outs, since I'm pretty sure the devs would want to avoid total power swap-outs for the same underlying principle as swap-outs in which the name happened to change.
Maybe call it the Condo Rule.
However, I'm kinda glad PFF (in Mace Mastery) is going, and I think they pretty much have to remove it to remain consistent. Removing it was the right call, even though it is disappointing.
Of course, that's easy for me to say. My only controller who is planning to cross over and back for Mace Mastery is my Fire/FF Controller, and he already has PFF from his secondary. I'm taking Mace Mastery so that I can be soft-capped to all without looking like giant eagles defecated on my person.

Not quite:
Unless I'm seriously reading this wrong, and I mean seriously wrong, the way you said it implies that you're not sure if the PPP or the FF Set is getting changed, and that you'd prefer the PPP changing (which it is) over the FF Set changing (which it isn't). I mean, I may be having a huge brain fart too. |
He's saying that he'd rather have it go the way it is (the PPP version of PFF going away) than the other way (the /FF controller version of PFF going away). He knows that it's the PPP version that is going away, and he's glad that they went that way than the other way they could have gone.

Alright. But honestly, why would they remove PFF from the original FF set? I figured it'd be common sense not to think they'd pull something like that. That'd be like changing all S/L melee shields in place of changing Tough.

I like that the universe decided not to implode today. Much better than the alternative. Of course, it didn't have much of a chance of doing that, but I'm still glad it didn't.

Well of course it was a low chance of it happening. That doesn't mean you can't say that you agree with it.

Unfortunately, that just means that issues that are NOT duplicates are just going to be that much harder to get addressed. It was either that or delay it going live, though.
To sum up, the cottage rule was told to stick its fingers in its ears and sing real loud on this one.

I do hope folks followed the advice given by some of our regulars and avoided taking PFF from Mace Mastery. It will soon be replaced with Focused Accuracy.
