Quote:It looks like the next level is Judgement, an upgradeable PBAoE power according to the GR site. Also, Mender Ramiel explicitly states that you, at your lowest level, are much weaker than Statesman, but that you at your highest will be significantly stronger. "Much Stronger" is en route to the game.
Another thing I like: That all Incarnates have a signature item that match their personality and is filled with Incarnate power. Now my Thugs Mastermind has Incarnate guns!
Wonder if that's going to be a sort of 'signature' power for each individual player? -
I'm saving them for the rest of the system. Interestingly enough...
I went Cardiac Radial. 33% EndRdx, 20% DamRes.
However, the Cardiac Core Paragon has 45% EndRdx, 20% DamRes, and 20% Range.
So while I'm using Cardiac Radial, I'm using the extra shards to save up and craft for the Radial tree. -

Quote:Fine.Nemesis. Cimmerorans. Circle of Thorns. Trying to declare how awesome your set is against sets it's specifically tailored against?
Yeeeeeeah.
Try running against something that's a challenge. Playing to your strengths doesn't counteract the arguements against the set in general.
Jesus you guys are critical. I didn't say "look how leet and awesome my toon is I can teabag Tyrant and kill him". I said that the set didn't suck.
I'm not trying to turn this thread into a pissing contest.
Damn. -
Quote:I'll make another one with Malta. That video amuses me.
You show off how 'awesome' Dark Armor is against a faction which it has some of the strongest resists against, with the only other competitor there being Electric Armor.
Rikti - Psi, Energy.
Notice he took Tough as well to stack for Smashing/Lethal.
That's like declaring Ice is awesome because you can mass-tank Snowmen during the winter event.
Derp.
Or Carnies.
Besides, the mish is set at +2/x8. I posted the video to show another forumgoer that the tactics needed for Dark Armor do NOT boil down to "hit and run tactics". Then again the post was by je_saist, so I guess the video was a given disproving mechanism. :P
If you really want me to I'll go find a tougher enemy group.
And what, you don't run your toons against enemies they'll do well against?
(Thanks for the constructive criticism by the way. :/ ) -

The Paragon City Monorail!

Hip hip! Hooray!

Quote:We can also just plug in random numbers into the two analytical equations:Ah, thank you for clearing that up.
And i already knew how epic FE is on a brute, just wasnt sure how it worked on scrappers. Got an SS/fire/mu and i farm with tons of red on. . .doing some 700 dmg every 5-6 seconds just from foot stomp about 50% of the time if a beautiful thing.
Scrapper:
2Dam+FE = Total
2x50+30= Total
100+30= 130
Brute:
2(Dam+FE)=Total
2(50+30)=Total
2(80)=160
Now while I don't know the exact percentage modifier of FE's damage bonus, I think that still works out to show the mechanics. -

Quote:Alright. Fine. Let's take a little stroll through this thread and see why I put you on ignore before I 'man up', shall we?Hey, don't blame me, you started it.
I'm specifically referring to the post you made where you all but called people talking about the fast respawns of the bifurcations liars. As proof, you held up the fact that you went seven encounters without experiencing that. (As you just now did.) Well, here's the thing: sometimes the bifurcations spawn at an increased rate. I experienced that in two of my four encounters and others experienced it, as well. Yet you essentially dismissed those statements as being untrue. Because if it didn't happen TO YOU, then obviously it NEVER HAPPENS AT ALL. It *was* luck for you. A coin coming up tails seven times in a row isn't evidence of design, it's just luck. The rest of us who've seen it come up heads aren't lying about that, we're just reporting what we saw.
This is why I can't respect you. Also the fact that you cried and put me on ignore. This is your thread. Man up and stay in the fight that you started, dude.
I listed them, and all I got from you was "you got lucky". No, it still doesn't work out that way. I helped a friend run through that arc on 4 of her 5 50's last night and you know what happened? Same damn thing! Same respawn rate, same bifurcations, and the same strategy. Just kill the bifurcations and then hammer on Trapdoor. So 4 more runs, totaling 11 times I've watched and experienced this mission, and the same thing happened. Still sound like luck to you?
Quote:The attitude you're displaying is, "Well, my Purpled-out DPS monster waltzed through the mission so I don't know why you noobs don't know how to play."
Then there was this little gem, aimed at another poster:
Quote:Stop judging US by the stupid people you've met.
In return, we won't judge other Belgians based on your posts.
Deal?
Since that post you've resorted to nothing but insults and making things up to boost your own argument instead of providing concrete evidence that my information is false. Here, let's look at those instances:
Quote:Ignore over this discussion? Gee, I hope you never have any real trouble in life. I'd hate to see you be too afraid to leave your bedroom.
Quote:Apparently neither TrueMetal not Mr. Unpronounceable Random Letters wants you to have choice. It's their way or the highway.
...
That's something they've utterly failed to express and instead just resort to insults.
Quote:This coming from the guy who put me on ignore after two exchanges. Add something about a kettle and pot here.
Quote:Didn't you read Ballsock Aztec's replies? HE didn't have a problem and his lucky streak was seven encounters long, which means YOU don't have a problem, either. You gots to get yer head right, boy! Those extra bifurcations you saw were *imaginary* because they never happened to him!
ME?
Jeez, I thought all these Trapdoor missions I've run were actual experience, not just calling you names. Boy, I was wrong!
You've been contradicting yourself and acting like a first-rate fool since you insulted the gent from Belgium and got called on it. The only reason you're still taking this up with me (and following my posts around the other forums, I might add) is because you can't bear the thought of someone saying anything against what you believe and refuse to accept that you might be maybe just the least bit incorrect in your assumptions.
You want me to man up? I'll man up when you man up and we call this a draw. No one's right, no one's wrong. Crap happens one way and crap happens another way and it's on YOUR shoulders to understand that NOT EVERYONE experiences the same thing. Does it sound like I'm contradicting myself? Yes it does. But you've made the same mistake I have: You assumed, like I did, that the only way you've seen it is the way it must be.
We're both wrong. I will admit that what I said has a great chance of being inaccurate. Will you 'man up' and join me in doing so, or will you keep throwing mud at my expense? -
Quote:Once again, if Mr. Minion is struggling to stand, I'm going to Knockout Blow his sorry face into next week. For this game a DPS meter would absolutely kill it. GL getting a team if you're not all purpled up. Enjoy doing stuff solo because you're not 'uber'. Even if you're a debuffer or a buffer you'd not get teams because your DPS is in the lower part of the game. I play because it's fun, and if I got kicked from teams for not doing 'optimal' DPS, then something's wrong. Heck, I use my most powerful moves sometimes on minions with 10% health. Why? Because it's cool. Nothing like using Eagle's Claw on a Rikti Monkey
I actually like the idea of a PERSONAL meter, but not one to be used by a team leader to monitor everyone. Just last night I ran an ITF with my Ill/Kin, 2 other controllers, a plant dom, an Invul tank, 2 Blasters and a Corr.
Mr. Tank and the Electric Controller weren't doing a whole lot of damage.
Then again, neither were the Romans, since they were totally sapped and getting beat on by 7 ranged dynamos. -

Quote:I actually decided to view this post.Didn't you read Ballsock Aztec's replies? Those extra bifurcations you saw were *imaginary* because they never happened to him!
Where the hell did you even get the last half of the post? Glad to see you're still putting words in my mouth. I KILLED the bifurcations AS they spawned and never saw them spawn faster than one every 30 seconds. On seven characters. That IS NOT LUCK.
I never said they didn't exist. I never said the mechanic wasn't there. I said they spawned at a regular pace, not rapidly, and I KILLED them rather than try to whittle him down through his regen.
You keep posting what you want to hear though, it seems to be working for you. And I appreciate the name-calling. You're just pissy because I called you on your bull@#$% and you have no other comebacks other than making crap up and insulting people. -
*adjusts his mask* .... no.
No, it does not. -
Quote:lol World of DarknessWell might be a difference between those who RP with certain people, like their coalition, and not so much on the TFs that they're repeating for the 100th+ time.
I know that's the category I fall into. How many time do I want to RP the revelation that Hero One is alive as a Rikti?
Also, how does one RP with a Vampire: the Masquerade, vampire in CoH, when they can't even do it right?
And other such things like that.
I wouldn't expect everyone to RP on a mission, just for reasons like that.
1: Ha! I'm a psychotic maniac who should be brought into justice, but you cant touch me!
2: I'm someone who should be trying to stop you, but I can't, because you'll never allow it, and we really wouldnt be teaming ICly together, but we're RPers!
3: Ha! I'm not a hero at all. I'm a Half-Blood Elf Princess from 3rd Edition D&D!
4: I'm Naruto! *Pzzzzzt* Hey what the hell happened?! Why'd I get genericed?
5: I'm Batman and haha *Pzzzzt* Hey! It happened to me too!
6: I'm a nasty supervillain who's comehere for badges! Why am I helping you all fight crime now? Hey, I'm friends with him on the otherside!
7: What? You RP badges as IC things?
8: What of it? I RP every bit of game mechanics as IC!
...and thusly, there's the team of RPers! Let's make it mesh in RP! \o/

Quote:I've never understood not giving Obsidian Shield slot love; it can be the difference between soloing Sister Psyche/Numina and getting stomped by them. 58% Psi Resist after ED and before Alpha? Yes please! If it was me, I would ditch CoF and grab Death Shroud. Slot 3x dam/end IOs and one acc/dam/end IO in it and it's golden. Take the slots out of OG and put one more in Obsidian Shield for the 3% Steadfast. Replace the IOs in Tough with a four-set of Reactive Armors. Replace the Numi heal IO in Health with a Miracle heal IO for the recovery bonus, more valuable to you with your big heal. Some other tweaks too; replace the Pounding Slugfests with one Crushing Impact D/E/R and one Focused Smite A/E/R for better numbers overall. Pull slots out of LBE (blah) and use them and the other free slots to five-slot Taunt and stuff it with Mocking Beratement. Fool around with slotting in DR to get some better numbers on recharge; healing enhancement isn't as important because you are gonna hit a few mobs with it, presumably. Something like this:
Some of your slotting looks like it is aimed at increasing regeneration, which isn't needed on a DA brute because of the fat heal in DR. Plenty of places to improve what I posted above, but that's my fast advice. -
Quote:I made this on a 10 minute break. +2/x8 Rikti. Two purple insps and one medium heal used throughout. I know it's "lolrikti" but it's proof you don't need to run from your battles. The set is really best for hit and run tactics. It is not designed to sit in a fight and draw aggro.
If you want a tanky brute, you'll need to pick a different armor set.
Tank this. -
Quote:I know the feeling. I actually run in to one spawn, and fling Dark Obliteration at another just to make things tougher. Thanks You All for your replies! Very informative. I now feel confident moving forward with this character as a "first man in, last man out" "TAUNT THE WORLD AND LET THE DEVS SORT EM OUT" kinda brute
Any suggestions on my build in the original post? I think it looks good and would be interesting to play: tough, with a couple of tools for flavor and a little toggle swapping for different situations...not your usual tankin brute i'd say.
Trying to read guides at work, feelin naughty
I actually need to update my current guide to reflect my Live build; try it out if you have the money. With Tough/Weave I'm able to wade in to anything from +3/x3 to +1/x8 just for the hell of it.
I recently became very lucky on Purple drops (See: an entire set of Absolute Amazement in the span of 6 hours O_O) and have about 50% global recharge right now, without Hasten. Give my build a shot once I update it, see if it'd fit your playstyle. Tweak it, change it, make it your own -

Quote:Well as others have said, it could have been regarded as an exploit (if we're talking about the same thing here). That's why it doesn't bother me. Plus I'm (apparently) in the minority of players who didn't need to use the tactic that was removed and just smashed the task to begin with. That we agree on.
Overall (and to difuse tensions I hope) if folks want to play a certain way they can. If they don't then they don't have to. It's not the OP's job or anyone else's to tell them how to play.
Hell the devs of this game are the ONLY ones who have a marginal say in how folks should play. Not any player. I don't care how long or how polite they are in saying so.
The change to trapdoor isn't bad, however it sets a bad precedent (actually continues it) of taking away tactical things that players find. That to me has NOTHING to do with not team or teaming or making the game easier or harder. That to me just sounds like a GM saying "noooo you need to do it this way".
I'm fine with difficult content, however, with that comes using your brain to figure out how to get around that. THAT is part of the challenge. I'm still waiting for them to make it so that he can't be knocked into the lava. Which wouldn't surprise me at all. -

Monitor your recharge speed. Sometimes enemies will have slows that'll make stacking rage a major pain in the butt.
