  1. I could finish that BNY mission in about 10 minutes. I did the thing a couple hundred times this year and he only got hung up about a half-dozen times. I also did it mainly on level 14ish characters, who really don't have 25x50-75kx4 for all of the items from that mission to throw around, and certainly can't reasonably make that much in the hour it took to get the missions done.

In the end, though, "Because I don't like doing it" is not a valid reason to remove anything, especially if they give you an alternative method to get those rewards. It ends up sounding like you imposing your will on everyone else.

  3. It's just flowery language describing the mission that Scratch gives to villains. See the lower part of Scratch's page on ParagonWiki.

    Voila.

No more need to ever see Snaptooth again.
As I mentioned in the post that you quoted. Even with that, why discard the existing missions, then? If they give you an alternative to obtain those things, that answers your problem without taking content away. I just ran all of my remaining characters that hadn't done it already through the Baby New Year Missions during the last Winter Event specifically to avoid having to spend my canes on things that are quicker and easier to get by running a short mission. I doubt that I'm the only one.

So unbelievably sick and tired of both of them.
I highly doubt that they'll ever just scrap the missions for these two events. It would make the associated badges, temp powers and costume parts unavailable, unless they add a Valentine version of the Candy Keeper, or transfer those rewards to new content. It's far more likely that they'll do what they have been doing for the Halloween and Winter Events, keep them available and add new things that aren't directly related to the old ones.

From the description on the website, it looks like nothing new has been added to the event.

At least I get the chance to get this stuff on my characters that were created since the last one.
  7. Try and make sure the lower one is no higher than 12 (13 is ok if set to -1) for the Hordelings, so you get them as Minions, and before they start getting replaced by Spectrals. I believe 30-35 is the overlap spot where both Hellfrosts and Succubi will spawn.

Funny story. I've been to a bar, nearly the definitive example of an "adults only" establishment, that would give you warnings for swearing, and even kick you out if you kept it up. This wasn't in my current rural area of residence, either, but in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
  9. My fault. I misunderstood that line in the rules. I thought it just meant having the words marked on the puzzle. Should have realized that everyone was putting in the lists for a reason. Congratulations, Culex.

    Zombie Invasions

The only time that I'll refuse an invitation to a firefighting team is when there are people fighting the fires while I clear out the Hellions, which keeps them from restarting already-extinguished fires, that won't even bother trying to invite me until I start on the fires themselves. If you weren't willing to share credit while I was protecting you from getting a massive explosion to the face, then you won't get any easy credit for the fires that I put out on my own.

Definitely the KR one, too. I'll do the same on the Skyway and Steel ones for Controllers, Defenders and Khelds, at least. It helps a whole lot before you get to 22, when you can finally slot for some decent percentages on your powers.

My usual trick with these at low levels is to get to 9 bubs of XP or so before entering the Safeguard. The exploration badge gives a bit when you first discover it, as do the mobs in the lobby of the bank, so I try and leave enough that I ding the next level in the lobby, preferably as I defeat the last mob in the lobby. That full rack of third tier inspirations that get cast on you when you ding, plus the increase in level, should give just about any character enough edge to easily beat the robber.

Question about Tyrant and Dominatrix (assuming they have had sex) - aren't those kinds of hijinks common not only with inbred rednecks Jeff Foxworthy jokes about but also royalty of old? Random thought/wondering, not especialy meant to go anywhere (so run with it if you like).
It may not be common to marry your own direct descendants for royals, but Zeus did have a child with his own great-granddaughter. Alcmene, by whom he fathered Hercules, was the granddaughter of one of his other half-mortal children, Perseus.

This is interesting, since he is an alternate Statesman, and thus probably also an Incarnate of Zeus. I don't think that it was an intentional parallel, though, but the unintended consequence of the retcon that they used to make Statesman and Recluse's conflict a little more personal by making them family. Initially, though it wasn't expressly stated in the game, Ms. Liberty was the granddaughter of Maria Jenkins, who seemed to have never been much closer to Statesman than a former ally.

Presently, it's typical for a mission instance to seemingly "despawn" as soon the last person on the team logs out (or, usually, if the mission holder logs out with no one else on the map for a non-TF mission). If you're solo, that means it winks out of existence as soon as you drop.

I have CoH installed on a 10,000 RPM drive and always bypass the updater unless I need to apply patches. I can get back in game so fast it will sometimes tell me I'm already logged in when I select a character. Despite this, I can never get in fast enough to get into a mission I dropped out of solo.

Sometimes missions persist longer than this. Missions sometimes fail to "reset" even if you perform steps that normally cause it, such as using /leaveteam as the last person on the map or exiting and selecting a different active task. Sadly I've never seen this behavior happen usefully, always appearing when someone wants to reset a mission. Of course part of that is due to a happy problem; I've never had problems with crashing or disconnecting a lot.
This is my experience, as well. Save for not remembering it ever reliably holding a mission open, even all the way back to when I started playing. The mission not resetting when I disconnected has benefited me exactly once, very shortly after CoV launched. Every other time that one has stayed open, it's been when I wanted it to drop so that I could reset it, usually for farming rare enemies for badges.

Except that peoples' choices would lead to different outcomes with every divergence. They have a Hamidon that was already monstrous when our Hamidon would have probably been a child, given what we learn in the Terra Conspiracy arc, or maybe not even born yet. Imagine now that the analogue to our Clockwork King's father happened to die during the Korean War, being that it played out differently on Praetorian Earth. In that case, there would likely be no Praetorian Clockwork King equivalent.

  18. I was a doubter before HeroCon, but at least one of the attendees reported that it was confirmed there, so I have moved to cautious believer.
  19. Seems more than a bit like the original Squadron Supreme storyline. I suppose that's not such a bad thing. If you're going to be influenced by something in mainstream superhero comics, you could do a lot worse than Gruenwald's epic. It beats yet another Watchmen or Kingdom Come homage.
  20. All of my characters on Infinity know each other at least in passing, within their respective factions, and most of them are aware of the ones in the opposite faction, though they are far from arch-nemeses.

My original main, Manacle, happened to be one of the first heroes that my second character, who is my true main and forum handle namesake, Ms. Mesmer, encountered upon arriving in Paragon. He set her up with an invitation to the SG that he was in, a favor that she would return when that SG fell apart and she joined the one that she is currently in.

Similarly, Ms. Mesmer would later meet a another new hero, Tiarna Finn, and do the same for him for both groups. She would be the main reason for all but one of my heroes on Infinity becoming members of the Tychian SGs there, as well.

Most of the relationships are like this on hero side, respected allies and friendly, professional acquaintances, except for two. My Warshade, Cyan Shadow, is Ms. Mesmer's older brother, and Opel Miraje is actually her counterpart from another dimension, though Opel is the only one who is certain of this, and dodges the issue when it's brought up.

The villains know each other the same way. They've met, and each vouched for the next as prospective member for the Fortune Hunters VG. Tiarna Patrick has a deeper connection to Tiarna Finn, as both are Masters of an ancient order of warrior-monks, but their time training at the order was in different decades

My heroes on Champion know each other, mostly in closer friendships than the ones on Infinity, since they're almost all teenagers who go to the same school and fight crime after school. A few are older family members or mentors. They also know of the heroes on Infinity, at least in some really vague connection.

Tremolo was inspired by a speech that Ms. Mesmer gave, denouncing the Council's genocidal practices against Kheldians, to join her pro-Kheldian alliance of heroes. Laochra Sean was a student at the same order as Tiarna Finn, and came here to complete his training under Finn when the order's last teacher passed away.

Aside from them, my heroes on Virtue are all part of an extended family, four pairs of siblings that are all of the great-grandchildren of a Golden Age hero.

If those count as story arcs, so do newspaper and scanner missions. They are the same sort of Mad Libs-style infinite mission generators.

Edit: I take that back. Newspaper and scanner missions come in several different types, with multiple possible enemy types for most of those types. Shard contacts have exactly one door mission type, and are either solely against Rularuu, solely against Nemesis, or some combination of both, depending on the contact.

Edit 2: Looking at Red Tomax, they actually list the mission types for the Shard contacts, and have a little more diversity than I recalled. I had forgotten the CoT doors from one of them, for instance. They're still less diverse than newspapers and scanners, and you really only get any story from the missions where one of them sends you off to meet the next in the series.
  22. I don't believe the visual changed, but the sound did. Somewhere around Issue 7 or 8, I believe, the old sound, which was closer to the sound of Siphon Power, with a loud "Fwaap!" sound, was replaced with the jingly effect that we have now. That may have been a performance issue, as I recall stories of hangups when it was cast on a large group.

    Takin' A Break

It looks to me like the contact bars were designed as a measure of their total possible missions. As such, if a contact has 5 missions, like the ones in Kings Row, it gets full much quicker than if the contact has 20 or so missions, like the ones in Peregrine Island. It also seems to not be in equal amounts, hunt missions only tend to fill the bar half as much as door missions. Of course, there are a few that are a bit broken, even with this measure. The low-level hero contacts in Steel Canyon and Skyway City that don't have story arcs, for example, will not fill completely unless you make sure to get the Security Chief missions and the introduction missions that were added after the fact, like Hero Corps and PvP Zone reps, from them.
  24. Yeah, it's one of those old links that never got fixed when we moved to the new forums. Here you go.
  25. It's a standalone mission. Something about gathering samples of their tattooing inks. Level 15-20.
