Valentines Event question

I'm assuming there will be a Valentines Event again this year, and I want to have a villain available who can help heroes get the Weedwacker or Coldblooded badge, or whichever one requires heroes to defeat the type of CoT mobs that only occur redside. However, I can't remember what the ideal level range is for spawning the type of adversary required.

Can anyone remind me, so I can make sure my villain is that level before the festivities start?

Well, I can't recall, but ParagonWiki says:

Quote:
Several normally City of Villain only badges were available to heroes in this part of the event. Weed Whacker Badge, Coldblooded Badge, and two gladiators. These badges are for certain villain style Circle of Thorns enemies. When done right, Scratch's first mission gave heroes access to these enemies, and thus the badges. In order to spawn a map with City of Villain style Circle of Thorn enemies, a villain must be the first player to zone into the map. This flags the entire mission for City of Villain style enemies, and the rest of the team can then enter. The enemies necessary for the different badges spawn at different levels. Hordelings, for Coldblooded and one of the gladiators, spawn for lower level mission holders (levels 8-25), while Hellfrost and Succubi, for Weed Whacker, spawn at mid to high levels (25-40 or so).

Have a char around lvl 10 and one a little past 25. If my memory serves me well you should be able to farm the Terrigol Mission and get them two... well 4 badges.
Each of them gives a gladiator. Thus 4 badges.
Coldblooded, Weedwacker, Hellfrost gladiator and Hoardeling Lasher.
I have forgotten which gladiator is rewarded by which badge.
Edit: Been some time since I've last did the farming for these and noticing Ironblades fine reply.

OK, thanks.

Try and make sure the lower one is no higher than 12 (13 is ok if set to -1) for the Hordelings, so you get them as Minions, and before they start getting replaced by Spectrals. I believe 30-35 is the overlap spot where both Hellfrosts and Succubi will spawn.

It is going to be harder farm them this year due to SSK. You no longer can enter lowbie mission as level 50 to kill grays.

But an easy workaround for this is to grab the mission at the appropriate lvl, then PL yourself up a few more levels. Everybody will be SK'd to your new level, and enter a mission full of greys anyway.

Yeah, I knew SSK would change the dynamics of this process this year, but I didn't really think through how.

I have a toon at the cusp of level 8 now, so I'll get her up to the cusp of 9 before I grab the mission, and then run her up to about 11 before I start helping other folks.

My highest level villain on that server is only 21 though, so he's got a little more work ahead of him.

Thanks again.

Yes, you can. You unteam and run around killing all the greys. However, no XP, drops, or credit for the lowbies on the team. But you do get credit for kill-counts.

Actually... what happens if everyone gets into he mission, leaves team (but stays on map), and reforms on a higher-level person? In theory, can't the lowbie owned also leave team (likely leaving the map) and then be re-invited by the higher-level leader?

Yes, but the team level would still be locked in as long as the same mission was active, much like task forces.

When you quit from inside somebody else's mission, the mission is no longer "Active" in your toolbar anymore, so SSK would no longer apply. I'm not sure if it would automatically show back up again once you invite the mission holder though. I suppose it's worth a try.

Good point. I really don't know how the code would handle things.

I think this is the best workaround suggested yet, though.

Wouldn't you booted from the map if you quit the team? It wasn't the case before SSK, not sure if it works the same way with SSK

Nope. Only if you are kicked from the team. If you leave on your own, you'll stay on the map just like before.
