I asked this same question a couple months ago. I've tried blaster, dominator, and widow, and have settled on widow - it's most what I want in a psychic character, and I've given her a background that includes being suckered in by Arachnos and then figuring her way out to a more heroic life, which suits me fine.

Trick Arrow is one of those easy-to-underestimate sets that does a whole heck of a lot when you use it well.
-
I'm going to perform a bit of thread necromancy and change my answer from robots/force fields to robots/traps. More encompassing of possibilities.
-
Wow, that's one I haven't seen. Maybe we could set up a bug exchange service...
-
How odd.
Experimenting suggests to me that I'm somewhat more likely to have pets get stuck after zoning when I have a whole lot of toggles running. -
I'm having a lot of problems this last week or so with my mastermind's pets freezing up at zone changes and needing to be released and resummoned. In fact, the last several times I've tried playing Rose Alpha, her robots have frozen at every zone change, whether travel in the world or entering/leaving a mission. It's been frustrating enough to make alts very appealing.
I'm curious if others are having the same kind of trouble, while I work on tracking down local factors that may also contribute. (Starting with, I've been sick this last week and more easily frustrated by everything, so I kept a tally of occurrences to see whether I was just blowing random experiences out of proportion, and kept it several days before feeling confident I wasn't.) -
Quote:Just the kind of consideration I was hoping to learn! I hadn't, for instance, thought about Spiritual's heal and Drain Psyche.Alpha: Spiritual. Recharge obviously useful, healing is useful for Drain Psyche.
Interface: Probably Reactive, but it depends on how often you're charging into fights using mostly soft control. -Resist makes confused enemies hit each other harder, the proc itself does more direct damage, and it breaks you away from the curse of all-Psi damage.
Destiny: When in doubt, I recommend Barrier. Ageless if you need more recharge or endurance management. I assume you are a perma dom so Clarion is mostly wasted on you except to boost a team.
Lore: Anything works. I doubt you will need the support pet all that much but it's hard to say. If you picked Barrier for Destiny, keeping the Lore pets alive is a bit easier. I treat mine pretty much exclusively as extra DPS for trial end bosses and as extra hinderances for the BAF runners. For each character I just picked whatever fit thematically.
Likewise with Reactive and confusion. I deeply, truly love letting enemies destroy themselves and each other, so that would be an excellent fit with my play style.
Cognix isn't perma-dom yet but either will be at 50 or will be soon after, depending on how the lucky breaks with influence go. Barrier works for me; I like shields.
Thank you! -
I could use a bit of advice, since my mind/psi dominator's leveling up astoundingly quickly. What I should I be looking at slotting Cognix with, when it's time?
Some options are pretty obvious. Spiritual alpha, if I'm not satisfied with her recharge rate by then. If she's securely into perma-dom by then, would I want to risk anything by slotting Spiritual and then replacing a recharge set bonus with someone else yummy, or is that just stupid? Also, if she's at perma-dom and I don't feel the need for Spiritual, what else would be good in there?
Judgment will probably be Vorpal because I think the look is fabulous.
Lore is lore. Do folks with incarnate dominators make much use of the buffing and healing options, or just go for moar dps?
Interface...not a clue here. My impulse is toward Cognitive, but I'd admit to being a crowd-control junkie. Is it unwise? Would a debuff of some other kind be better?
Destiny...no more clue here, either. The tankermind fondness for Barrier clearly isn't relevant. But I'm having trouble figuring out what would be smartest.
Advice welcome -
My new peacebringer is Daring Sky. Both her halves have histories of suffering, and shyness born from it For both of them, the new partnership is a chance to do exciting heroic things they'd dreamed of but were afraid to try alone.
-
This thread combined with me seeing several really good novas and dwarfs on recent incarnate trials to make me feeling like trying a peacebringer again.
I love the forms, and spend enough time in human form to make costumes worthwhile too.

Ahhh. Perma-PA thanks to tier 4 Spiritual alpha. I'm sure I'll keep tinkering with recharge as I have money, drops, and the like, but now I'm in a happy place.
...and with a touch of luck here and there, up to 202.4% before factoring in Spiritual. I do wish it were possible to set multiple powers to auto-fire. -
Thanks!

Sure enough, there it is, power by power. -
I have this nagging feeling I'll feel foolish when I see the answer, but...
I've currently got Dreamshine slotted with Spiritual Total Core Revamp. When I go look at combat attributes, I can't see anything very obviously identifiable as coming from it in the list of recharge inputs. What should I be looking for? -
Agreed, on both merits and market. Having fun with the zipping.
-
Oh, I've been going over it, and putting suggestions into practice as budget allows.
-
Thanks! Recharge wasn't up to perma levels yet, so I'll work on that.
-
I've opened up Dreamshine's alpha slot and stuck Spiritual in it for the moment. But beyond that I've got very little sense of what else I'd like to give her, since up until now I've been concentrating on slotting up my mastermind. What's good for her?

I started out with Ion for my robots/force field mastermind, whom I play tankermind-style whenever I can. I happened to come across a video of Vorpal in action and was intrigued...and now I love it. I think it's funny in a way not a lot of powers are, and it really makes playing with a high spawn multiplier easier.
-
Eeek, you might also check for speed/jumping boosts coming from IO sets, if you've got any. There are some boosts in the 4-9% range that I seldom think about when out in the world soloing, but that I notice when teamed up because I'm consistently outpacing some of my teammates.
-
Yes, that's it. The bots were hitting enough that the damage added up. I've picked up a Power Analyzer to use in future encounters and be more specific.
-
Ah ha, thanks! Much better than imagining all those guys with Orion slave drag queen cosplay fetishes.

To spell out an implicit part of the answers you got...
Masterminds aren't super-good for stealthing if you expect to, or find yourself needing to, fight after stealthing to whatever, simply because it's so much work to get your minions up each time. If you have a nice secure corner or alcove to yourself, then three pet summons and two upgrades, plus anything you might be doing like buffing or deploying secondary power set items, is no big deal. It can be a real pain to do in the midst of a fight, particularly against enough force to kill pets before you've finished upgrading and buffing them.
This is not a sentence of doom on the whole project. You could, just for starters, stealth and then get out just your tier 3 pet, or the tier 2 and 3 pets, and let the tier 1 ones wait for the time being. You could have a rhythm of summoning, upgrading, and buffing that's relatively robust - what matters, after all, is that it work for you doing the things you want to do, not everyone's spread of possible cases. There are other things that could help, too, no doubt.
Personally, I ended up unslotting the Stealth IO I'd put in my my main mastermind and handing it off to an alt for future use. -
So, um, why are so many of these folks green? Too much copper in their diet? Too many bases on the north side of trees? Just had really awful cafeteria food?
I'm just curious if there's an actual in game reason why I see so many green-skinned Longbow agents, or if it's just one of those things. -
Really, with robots/force field you can just toggle Force Bubble on (along with other defenses) and walk up to a mob, then let the bots defeat everyone as they start reacting to being pushed around.
It cheers me up when I feel down in real life.
