Falling Like A Rock. WHY??
The AT modifiers that handle how high and how far your character jumps are identical for all ATs, which means that there are some things to check. Since you mentioned that they are all level 50 and have Combat Jumping, the first obvious checks are already thrown out.
First, make sure that Sprint is not toggled on/off the same for all characters - it provides extra jump height and speed.
Second, make sure that all of the characters have Hurdle (for the same reason) - if some hit 50 before inherent Fitness and haven't respecced, you may be missing it.
Third, make sure that the powers are slotted similarly (ie, characters that can make the jump don't have an extra Jump enhancement).
You can also check the numbers for jump height and jump speed in the combat attributes display and make sure they're the same.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Eeek, you might also check for speed/jumping boosts coming from IO sets, if you've got any. There are some boosts in the 4-9% range that I seldom think about when out in the world soloing, but that I notice when teamed up because I'm consistently outpacing some of my teammates.
Not having inherent Hurdle was the first thing that came to mind for me about your problem. The few characters that I respeced into Inherent Fitness can now jump all the slightly-too-high walls that they were never able to before.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
Also check for commuter day job.
Level is worth mentioning here, too. Hurdle and Super Speed give different amounts of buff at different levels.
Lastly ... is your hardware ok? Are you sure your keyboard / space bar isn't intermittent or something like that? Because if your space bar "bounces" when you try to jump, the game is going to see a press & release, and it'll cut your jump short, and you can't jump again until you hit the ground.
(I assume you know to hold the space bar down until your jump peaks, since you have 50's and combat jumping, which is a good jump primer.)
thanks for the responses!
Yup, everyone has hurdle (inherent) with a jump IO in it, and their slotting is similar.
It might just be the space bar. I never EVER thought of that, since I hold it the same. But if I'm not pressing hard enough... that would explain it.
Thank you again!
Blame the Gravity 'trollers....
Pound for Pound, the Amoeba is the most vicious animal on earth.
I have a weird question: Why do some characters just soar over medium-sized walls, or across 20ft. spans, and others with the same slotting can't? Why can I make a jump sometimes on a character, and can't make the same jump the next time on the same character?
To clarify, my characters who have Super Speed also have Combat Jumping, because, well, CJ makes life worth living for SS, you know? But here's the thing - regardless of slotting (usually the 2 movement BotZ's in CJ, and a Jump IO in the inherent power), some can jump a 12-15ft.* wall with ease, and some can't. It seems like some scrappers, and definitely my tank cannot make the upward jump, while the Trollers have no problem with it at all. Why?
Even weirder, the jumping across mechanics seem to have no logic at all. The jumping up I can at least rationalize ("durrr, maybe that armor weighs more?"), and the jump ability/inability remains consistent. The jump across mechanics are not consistent. When making a long jump, 20-30 feet* across, sometimes a character can leap with aplomb, looking graceful, and well.. super! Sometimes - EVEN ON THE SAME CHARACTER!! - I'll leap gracefully half the way across, then just drop like a rock.
I'm not doing anything differently with the keys. Have been noticing this for over a month now, and am quite conscious of what I'm doing, just because it's driving me nuts. These are all level 50 characters, too. I run toward the edge holding the "W" key down with 3rd finger, left hand, then hit the space bar when I get to the edge of whatever it is I'm trying to jump across, and let go of the space bar when I begin the falling descent and I realize the space bar is no longer necessary.
Does anyone understand this, or do I need to continue to speak forcefully at my characters and tell them they better lay off the Christmas cookies, or next thing they know, they won't be able to fit in doors, either?
Thanks for your help!
