  1. I hate to be a jerk, but if your friend hates teaming with strangers like me then I probably wont miss him one bit

Ive done the baf about 6 or 7 times, and only won 3. Im at my tier2 judgment already. I only converted 20 shards and 4 astral merits. It really goes by quick, and the incarnate trials are more interesting than much of the regular content.

If your friend cant tolerate other humans for a few hours a week then CoX incarnates are not his biggest problem right now anyway.

I think it depends on your playstyle and secondary. If you can maintain high fury without stopping then the brute is better. For the slow, cautious, and poor end management players a scrapper is probably best.
  3. I always post salvage for 5 inf, and I check recipes for bids/history. If someone is bidding on a recipe that isnt worth much they can have it for 5 (or higher). If the recipe has a high selling history, but no current bids Ill post if for what I think I can get out of it. Other recipes go to the stores. It works well enough and takes very little time/effort.

To make real $$ use merits from TFs or hero/villain merits to buy luck of the gambler global rech, numinas/miracle +end/+rec etc... whatever seems to be selling highest at the time. Check whether the recipe or the enhancement is selling for more and sell accordingly. Certainly you wont make money as fast as some hardcore farmer, but you can work on getting incarnate goodies at the same time. Seriously, who actually WANTS to farm anyway? Dont make the game into a chore
  4. I did a baf last night and we won pretty quickly (yeah my first out of many losses). The more people that know what they are doing the easier it gets.
We are all used to the game being so easy that you could sleep through it. A little challenge is nice.
I haven't seen people getting hostile, what server are you on?
  5. I just made my first attempt at using math on CoX, so I kept it simple. If I did it right then a brute only using eviscerate needs 112% damage from fury to out dps the scrapper. If I add in double stacked follow up to both then the brute needs 132% damage from fury. Im sure the numbers would change if I added more attacks, but this is enough for me to get the idea.

I dont know what the heck I looked at before, but I thought the base damages were much closer. If I did my math right then I fully understand the advantages of a scrapper. Its base damage is significantly higher, not just the little bit that I thought before.

The differences between other ATs are more obvious I think. Scrappers and brutes both have damage/survivability sets with somewhat similar numbers.

To illustrate my point.. week one of the new WST .. dozens of tanks, scrappers, blasters, and brutes all standing around in IP desperately searching for ANY support toons but more specifically actually broadcasting.. "We need anyone that has heals!" AWWWW did we suddenly discover that the majority of the TANK/BRUTE community can't stand toe to toe with Recluse and after all the badmouth a while back now we all desperately want a EMP Defender to heal and fort our tank so we can take down the towers? LOL

PLAY WHAT YOU LIKE.. NOT WHAT SOMEONE TELLS YOU IS BEST! you'll enjoy the game more
Im hardly limited to one "best" AT. They all do different things, except scrappers and brutes are difficult to tell what they are doing different. My concern was that if scrappers were just the obsolete version of brutes, then there is no point in scrappers. Ive been convinced otherwise though.

Sounds about right. I do pretty well with my regen, but I feel all of my young brutes are going to be much better when they hit 50. Though I made a kinetic/elec scrapper today that also seems like it will be much better than claws/regen, so maybe it is regen that is making me think scrappers arent as good.

Anyway heres this, if anyone wants to see it. It isnt perfect, but it gets the job done.

    *fixed?
  8. Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death, I'm not smart enough to find anything relevant with the search.
My main is a claws/regen/fire scrapper, and he is what I consider my best built character (ill post my build when I get home). I still get the impression that brutes survive better and kill faster than I do, though I haven't compared the math in any detail.
What is it that scrappers do better than any other AT?
  9. We did a few runs in ae, but even there the spawns weren't consistent. All of our runs were against council, and I feel confident in saying there is no significant loss of xp/minute using confuse. Of course I didn't do do rigorous enough testing to provide exact consistency, but it is close enough that I'm in no hurry to do more detailed testing.
  10. I did a little testing with my plant/emp, teaming with a ~lvl 40 blaster running scanner missions. Run a mish not using confuse, then run one using confuse as much as possible. Our xp+inf/minute was pretty consistent, with slight variance in the spawns. Tried again with a 50 tank and the inf/minute was still consistent.
  11. I dont see why anyone is worried about balance. ALL of the power pools do different effects for different ATs dont they?
Brute/scrapper/blaster/etc versions of the attack powers would not be as good as defender/controller/etc versions. Also the damage could scale with level differently, where they are more useful at lower levels and not so much at higher levels.

Not that I would even take the pool anyway, I like brutes and scrappers the most.

I dont think the OP is necessarily a bad idea, but the fighting pool is how my friend leveled his ice/empathy. Seemed to work pretty well for him.

Also you dont really need a whole team to level up a support character. Just 1 other player with damage will get the job done.
  13. I feel kind of stupid for not using my confuse for so long. Im going to test it out and see how much my xp decrease is when soloing, but if all the math in this thread is right then it shouldnt be bad. Crud, so much wasted potential.
  14. How much more efficient is ss/fire Vs */fire?

I wouldnt want to make an expensive build that cant run other content as well, so Im obviously not that serious about farming. Just curious if putting together a secondary build for casual farming (lol) would be worth my time.
  15. Im not very skilled at AE, what map do you use?
  16. Willpower is awesome. My WP tank keeps going long after all the other tanks have died.

Ha ha that should have been the first thing any of us said.
  18. Using super gravity powers to fuse hydrogen atoms? That would make a bit of heat
  19. Good to see that are some people that like it. I agree with the disadvantages on teams, which is why I will attempt to put together an all knockback team for serious awesome. Hopefully some knockback lovers are online (liberty mostly) the same time that I am.
  20. Which would be better? Ice/storm for insane amounts of -recharge and slow, or a fire/storm to keep slowpokes roasting in AoE damage?
I usually avoid power guides and just make what fits my character concept, but Im having a hard time deciding between these two.

*by better I mean kill the most enemies without getting killed.
  21. I do. I made an energy/energy blaster, and I love throwing baddies all over the place. Im just curious if enough other people enjoy it enough to potentially put together an all knockback team. That would be so awesome.
  22. I rarely delete a character over level 20. Usually I can decide if I like the power combo or not by then, and usually re-use the same name and concept with better fitting powers on the replacement.
I have a character concept that I really really liked, but his powers werent really fitting. Went from stone/stone tank, to stone/willpower brute, to shields (with a stone shield)/stone tank. On the third rebuild he is perfect and I love playing it.
If I cant think of better power choices I might let a character sit for over a year before just saving the costume and deleting them for a future version.
  23. Its had that typo for a while, I sent a bug report over a year ago.

How about 'every crappy team needs heal to succeed'? lol

Below lvl 30, my emp defender did a great job saving teams with tanks that dont taunt, controllers that dont hold, scrappers with no shields, etc...
But on teams with people that know what they are doing my emp is like the sprinkles on top of a cupcake. Good, but no one would really miss it if it wasnt there.
