I think it should be a mastermind powerset.
No reason other than laziness for it to be otherwise.
And just a heads up, You don't try to control rabbits...

Quote:When this business model was introduced, I was under the impression that the idea was to bring in more money, which would allow for more staff, frequent improvements, overall better quality of life. The biggest difference psychologically for me since Freedom has been how I now feel like I have to guard my money from the people running this game.
Before, I had a recurring sub and if I wanted a pack I bought it. Now, everything seems to costs extra, and if I don't stay on top of things, I won't get the stuff that I should be getting with my sub.
There is no way to track ANYTHING that has to do with money. If I was a newcomer to this game, that alone would make me not bother giving you my card number.
I'm seeing this level of quality that we are getting, and now... I'm beginning to wonder if it was a good idea... -
Quote:Hello Brian Clayton I'm certain you have heard my name... more than once.We wanted to know, what have you liked most about Freedom? What havent you liked? What can we do to add even more value to our VIP subscription? Hearing your thoughtful insights truly helps us to shape the City of Heroes experience.
Sincerely,
Brian Clayton
Executive Producer and General Manager, Paragon Studios
What have I liked most about freedom: The base love. hands down. there are others, but nothing outshines that base love.
What I haven't liked: pointless nerfs. The appearance of development frowning on this thing called "farming"... name one surviving game that doesn't have it. Put a stop to developer farm hate or the rmt's are going to take over. <get the rmt's out of Atlas WW> Misconceptions of this word "value" case in point, and I should add, you've probably seen this a few times as well. 500 pp for a dog that does...nothing. Want money? re define your concept of values and pay attention to the concept of mine. You will see they are two different things. If work is put into a thing it becomes obvious as does the value increase, you will see more people buying.<glares at art dept> requires digesting a thing called feedback. Pay attention to those beta testers they aren't running their mouths just to hear themselves talk. Pay better attention to your trans-gendered community they aren't wearing that duct tape because it's comfortable. value=money. we both want that. Personally I'd love to have the income to throw at anything that comes out, just because I love the game and want for its longevity however, I can't justify a purchase if there's no value.
So many thing wrong with costumes available to players, so many things wrong with many costume pieces that -should- be available. I blame this dated thing called "formula" you know, the one where men are swollen with skulls and women are prostitutes? Break that mold. I'd also like to know where is my "Bonanza" badge? Where is my ten gallon hat? where oh where are the other incarnate powers? Omega and such?
What can be done to add more value to VIP?
I don't know if I was heavily sedated or if my feet were nailed to the floor...again.. I misunderstood this at launch. I thought that VIP's <well having that title sort of places emphasis on something valuable> would have access to all costume sets, powers, and every facet of the game. Then I found myself vip -and having to purchase- costume sets, powers, etc... in my case I can only assume it was a perception issue... either that or I was mislead. Iv'e been all for this business model conversion and in retrospect I'm glad it happened. A bitter sweet victory it was. In the whole vip sense, isn't as vip as I thought it would be. at least that's been my experience. I was hoping that communication breakdown would be damage controlled to a point. It seems like it has... to a point... I'd really like to see and hear more development regarding bases, -new decorative items dammmiiiiiit- dont make this another two year stretch! relevance of bases for larger groups, group buffs, that base server storage limit needs attention.
I'd also like to hear more about pvp development. rumors can fly the grapevine can talk and oh boy it does... I think the pvp crowd needs some tlc if thats even possible. as cracked out and pistol whipped as this post is and the pages are that I would like to add, this is where I stop as I have a gun pointed to my head.

Quote:yeah I'm starting to get into that boat.Pretty much no interest in the gun slinger costumer pack or whatever it is. My fave part of the game is the costume creation. The theme of this pack didn't interest me but for $5 I figured I would look at it. After seeing how you can't color is as much as I would like and some tint issues...no thanks.
The pre-tint thing has rendered the Ascension stuff all but useless on many toons (for me). Also the CoT set...you can't match all pieces...the kilt is a different tint than the chest and legs stuff. Also the Halloween pack....the fish/mer boots and gloves are completely useless for me due to their different tint. They don't work on the few toons I have that could use them.
I really hope this issue is resolved in the near future. It seems I am starting to say no more and more to these pieces. Sad but true.
I'm wondering what happened to my vampire pieces I paid for.
This is becoming an issue about quality. -
Quote:This "pretending to not be naked but we really are so respect me as if I were fully clothed and look at me in the eye when I'm talking to you because I'm not a brainless sex object even though I dress like I am"Am I right to assume that female characters who use the Gunslinger costume pieces, and log out on a street corner, get a new day job badge?
If not, maybe these costume pieces are not QUITE communicating as intended.
... just isn't going to cut it for much longer.
I guess it's time to whip something out of that ol' innovative hat eh?
Tired old "formula" is tired and old.
it's like hearing that worn out meme; "that's what she said" over used over done, doesn't make anyone laugh rather just makes your ears bleed.
this formula? same thing, just with your eyes.
edit: no Bonanza badge? not Ten gallon hat?! Really? Not even with this set?! bah! I firmly suggest whoever is in charge reevaluate what defines value of purchase when going with theme sets. Get some education on what people want before wasting resources on what some tired old formula dictates. this is starting to become an eyesore. -
Quote:agreed.I agree that the consumables should stay at this level.
Windfall also really needs to specify exactly what it does. I might buy it at that price, but I need to know what drop rates it increases, and how much. Inf gain isn't appealing to me at all-- most of my inf comes from selling IO drops. This has the potential to be the one existing consumable I would buy repeatedly, but I'm not going to buy it blind.
That VIP starter kit is a great idea, I hope that's at the top of the email you send out to the Freems about this.
I'm really glad you're having this sale, I hope it turns out well for you!
Edit in response to Zwillinger: Woohoo! I really hope it works out well, then, because I think in the long run it will make you more money.
windfall on beta: 4 purps
windfall on live: 0 purps
future purchases from me regarding windfall: 0 -

Quote:I'd love to see the data on the number of solo bases that are out there. My (safe) bet would be that they are sharply on the rise... especially since there isn't much, if anything, that requires supergroup membership these days (given global channels, glee mail, etc.).
Interestingly, at the recent player summit Positron commented on solo bases as a rationale against offline SG invites. His words were to the effect that: This is not what we envisioned for supergroups. We don't want everyone to go off and make their own base with just all their alts (server impacts).
I thought the comment was very strange because (a) the devs have not really done much to promote or encourage the supergroup concept in the first place. (b) people will make solo bases (and get someone to temporarily invite alts) regardless if there is offline sg invite capability or not.
Just another example where I scratch my head at dev thinking on SGs and bases.
Until there is focus on making bases relevant to larger groups, he should expect an abundance of solo sg's.
That leads to the question "How does one make sg's relevant to larger groups?" -
Quote:I love that pissed off mechanical bark. One of my favorite adds from the Cape is about that! For the Rogue Islands Pet Shelter. I don't remember the whole thing but a bit of it:
Poopsie now reaps the benefits of a case-hardened titanium exoskeleton. There's a gleam in her eye from more than just the infra-red optics. She's ready to take on the world... And win, decisively. -
there was already a thread about this somewhere, but eh, ill throw this in.
That dog should at least provide +perception <disabled in pvp> so, with a watchdog theme that German Shepards are known for, it would actually -be- a watchdog.
Example:
-
Another note about this layout, It loads fast, it not graphically intensive, so my laptop is perfect for the base bot. I can drag and drop salvage rapidly and not have to worry about glitching anything up by clicking too fast. It's almost zero decor for that reason.
hope this helps.
good luck. -
its a cost effective method for a one person sg.
Here is the layout;
Telepad is right next to the entrance, so when you enter your base, you can jump into edit mode and swap out becons <no deleting>
Workshop 1:
Crafting salvage on levels 2+3, buff salvage on level 1
Workshop 2:
Crafting salvage, Enh table, Vault.
Medbay:
This is how I do it: I have a premium account that I use to invite alts on my VIP for the initial starting prestige boost. I have a farmer built for earning prestige. I take all my excess and put it on the market. I take all my inf and buy prestige.
It's time consuming. It's supposed to be. Rome wasn't built in a day, and when you earn your way to a decked out one man sg you will appreciate it that much more.
Another note on the Premium acct, I usually keep it parked in the base so that even in a mission, I can access, and email myself anything in the base I might need, or send something to the base to store. It really is awesome to have a base bot on standby. -

Quote:Hey, just be glad you don't have to clean up after that crazy eyed baby eater. It is the most absurd thing ever.
I was on a team and two people had it.
I can't believe it does nothing.
Why the would they make this...?
"Are game is too serious...how can we make it more ridiculous and less superhero like?"
Honestly...I will never buy it no matter what...but at least make thing do a bite attack. Have it be unkillable unless the person who has it dies...but make it attack. So at the very least it will fit in with the City of Heroes world you created as a type of "krypto" dog.
As of right now...it is damn stupid...and I definitely don't care to team with someone who has this immersion breaking "pet" that does absolutely nothing but sit in the middle of huge superpowered fight scratching its ears. -
-
hope it doesnt take you that long to get out of the base I ...uh... "designed"...
remember /stuck is your friend -
Or you could just... come up with something original >.>
-
Before making any suggestions I'd like to know the scope of what they can do.
What can they add given time/budget?
I'd also like to know if the business model has fed them well enough to get regular base love, or at least an occasional base update whichever is feasible. -
-
How possible would it be to add a 2 minute "combine" function for bots masterminds?
-
I only do +4x8 when I'm solo and rocking out.
When I'm teaming, I prefer to fight at whatever the team lead is set at, usually its low, and not for my survivability, but rather I don't like watching my team mates get frustrated by not being able to hit things and constantly face planting. -
I would like my token please.
...like waiting for a damn kidney stone to pass. -
I don't even know where to begin.
do want a solo path to incarnates.
Dont care if its a ton of kill all arcs.
I just want a solo path option, one that doesn't eat up years to get through.
One thats scalable in difficulty.
oh, and I am very grateful for the new base editing tools. -
Quote:Perfect person to ask, so please be patient with me wise one.Along with all the stuff I spent time acquiring, and my time is worth more to me than a couple of bucks. But that's the nature of playing an online game. One day it will all be gone, and I won't be able to take it with me when they go.
how feasible would it be to make this a offline pc game, with the possibility of online multiplayer... just without updates?
a <poor?> example would be something like command and conquer...
I guess what i'm getting at is I think there is a way or at least there should be a way to keep this game from vanishing into the ether. -
Sigh.. I said +tohit... I MEANT +Perception, and yes disable it in pvp.
Thanks
200 pp's and I'd buy it.
