Seriously, in Paragon at least, there's no:

    Christmas Trees
    Christmas Lights
    Christmas Outdoor Decorations.

    *snip*

PS: Here's a screenshot manipulation that a friend, Fanservice, did of Galaxy City. It's not got lights, but it has got snow, and IMO it looks right lush.

I agree that IS gorgeous!, nicely done Fanservice!, thanks Zortel.

I've been asking (for absolute donkey's years) for seasonal patches to be implemented throughout the year - enviromental 'hints' of seasons would add so much to a game that has chosen thus far (for the most part) not to break out of city zones too far geographically from Paragon City.

The other MMO has Christmas snow flurries and presents, and a tree and a jolly fat Santa, piles of presents, a (zone boss encounter) psychotic Jester behind all the mischief (much like our omni-vacant Trickster) and his 50-foot rampaging robot teddy event battle.

Most importantly it has something which the devs still refuse to implement because of worries that are proved unfounded by their inclusion in other MMOs without incident - NPC Children.

I've come to the inclusion over the years and after reading many suggestion threads on seasonal weather that ( with regards to the topics of seasonal patches and NPC children) the devs are just not interested.

    [EDIT]:

Now we have Ultra-mode, now people are playing the game with specs that I imagine are about 3-times what the original recommended spec was in the beginning...

Bring back that wireframe globe!, in metal please!, maybe a nice bronze or steel texture!. Also a higher-poly redux of that iconic statue would be nice.

  5. Yep, second lot of pictures that have surfaced. (Heaven-knows the first lot were bad enough).

Stick to what you know Tim... stick to what you know.
  6. Only three egos to keep in check?. I guess The Expendables had more of an influence than first thought. More 'stars' crammed in for your buck.

Blu-rays not all about the picture though, the audio treatment is also a cut-above other titles. Play this on a 5.1 or DTS surround system and you are in for a treat.
  8. Looks like 'third times not the charm'

I guess he had too good a time on Cowboys and Aliens and it reminded him of life outside all-things Marvel™.

Thanks for the masterpiece that was the first film Jon.

    Thor trailer

Ultimates Thor could (potentially) be a more interesting character to have in the Avengers than classic Thor. what with his anti-capitalist stance and everything, but the standalone film would of been less interesting had they tried to merge the two-takes on the character.
I definately think Branaugh knew what he was doing when, (despite the whole Ultimates slant on the Marvel films lately), he opted without hesistation to depict the classic Marvel Thor.
  10. Kinda like a Rodent Project Rebirth:

    Quote:
Researchers at the University of Boulder injected stem cells into young mice with leg injuries. The stem cells were themselves taken from healthy young mice about the same age as the recipients. The stem cells didn't just heal the injuries - they caused the mice's muscles to increase an incredible 170 percent in size. Even more amazingly, the changes weren't temporary. The mice kept their bulked up legs for the rest of their lives, about two years.

This was a very exciting and unexpected result. We found that the transplanted stem cells are permanently altered and reduce the aging of the transplanted muscle, maintaining strength and mass. When the muscles were examined two years later, we found the procedure permanently changed the transplanted cells, making them resistant to the aging process in the muscle. The environment that the stem cells are injected into is very important, because when it tells the cells there is an injury, they respond in a unique way.
    Wow? really?.

    VGA Announcemnts

... oh, and the cheese that is Sega's Thor, another good opportunity for a good Marvel superhero game missed.
With this and Captain America handed to the clowns at Sega after the botchjob that was IronMan, I absolutely despair.

On the upside; Mass Effect 3 ! - woo hoo!!!

    Thor trailer

Filmed simultaneously in both 3D & 2D formats.

Although the 3D treatment can be an interesting experience when it enhances a film, I don't like the inevitable colour cast when donning the shades. I much prefer the bright richness of colour that is the 2D filming process. I'll be getting this on 2D Blu-Ray.

I hope the story rocks for Green Lantern because the trailer was disappointing!, never should of cast Reynolds in the role!.
I'm also disappointed because this is a Martin Campbell film and Casino Royale was utterly sublime as a Bond film and my personal favourite!.

    Thor trailer

I wouldn't be surprised if Natalie's performance is not the sharpest in the film, lets face it everyones going to fall short of Antony Hopkins' Odin.
I just hope she's better than in the Star Wars prequels, ... good grief she so was wooden.

I also hope we don't get too much of Chris' "Oh no this is Earth.. Isn't it!" Thorstralian™ accent, I'm hoping it was an anomaly and its not noticable throughout the rest of the film.

    Thor trailer

Thats the worst line in the trailer. I hope we don't hear any more Australian (Melbourne) accent in Thor's dialogue. Marvel's getting really lazy with continuity re: Marvel portrayals. There was a time once when actors and actresses... (I'm looking at you Scarlett Johansson! ) actually attempted authentic accents.

Oh,.... and 7-page Thor set visit courtesy: Superherohype.com.

There is a part of the comic-con trailer that was withdrawn ( but linked on my signature) that shows something (a prop) that in-turn gives a clue to how the stories of Thor and Captain America and everything else converges for the Avengers link up (technology & plot-wise). I can't say anymore than that.
    (Damn Marvel NDA).

    Thor trailer

I had a loki at the revised and edited 2:30 trailer and I thor't it was pretty damn good - although I thor't the 5 minute trailer I've had linked on my signature for the last 3 months was better for the story and the atmospheric music.

Highlights for me on this the new revised and edited actiony™ Thor trailer were; Odin stripping his son of his powers and recalling Mjöllnir from him as well as a shocked Thor seeing his signature armour dissolving away from his arms in a very cool sfx (1:24-1:25) before he is cast out.

At 1:27 you can clearly see the branches going out to different planes / worlds.

    At 1:48-9 you can see Heimdall's Observatory;

“Once you step inside the observatory, you basically tell Heimdall where you want to go,” added Kyle, “The sword Heimdall uses is not only used to defend Asgard, but it’s also the key to this device.”
    2:13-2:16 - Big badaaBoOm !.

2:16 onwards - Love the added runeage on the side of the Thor Logotype - very cool !.

    ..........................................

I like Thor. I had loads of Marvel Thor comics back in the 1970s (I guess you could say I was an auTHORity on the series), bought the diorama, looking forward to seeing it as a live-action film with such a stellar cast.
  18. I love the way that he had already been successful in changing his name to 'Captain Awesome' and so went back to revise and change his signature to; ''
  19. Great news!, does that mean they win the X-Prize?... I guess so.

The (privately funded) future starts here!
  20. Awesome!, I was rooting for Turtleman last time around!, he had dual-trowls didn't he?.
Alternatively, I think kinetic melee would suit a hero-in-half-shell !.

    Yes, i just read about it. As far as i can make out;

One new mission with a hard boss. One new badge - 'Cold as Ice', no new temporary powers as rewards Expectations-wise this makes me a sad bunny, to be honest I was expecting more after being away a year and resubscribing. Events have to be kept interesting - the Xmas event is a piece of 3 year-old stale cake.

    Bah humbug.
  22. Umm, question if i may please;

This 12 days of Coralax competition... I notice it runs until the 23rd of December, this isn't the only festive event is it?.
Is the trickster still coming?, the ski chalet still opening?, any updates to the ski runs?, have we got an ice-rink anywhere in the city or a patch which gives a more wintery city-appearence (which has been requested for some time now).

No offence but I was runnng around as a Coralax as part of Halloween '08/'09 and to be honest the appeal wore off after about ten minutes.

The Praetorian graffiti competition was great, The redux banners competition is great. Christmas events with Dev effort are rewarded with high attendance, good word of mouth and continued subscriptions.

This is a bit 'meh' to be honest. This can't be the be-all and end-all of 2010's Xmas events is it? - surely not!.
  23. I think the stuntman's guild has more to worry about re:digital dopplegangers than the actor's guild.
  24. I'm intrigued about the potential of the higher tiers and how they will work. I am happy about the level of work needed for the Alpha slot, but cautiously sceptical about an exponential increase in shards and components for the higher tiers.
See the crafted travel power grind in the other Superheroic MMO for how to pee-off your subscribers with an unachievable goal.
