This is not rocket science. The ranged attack given to melee based battle maiden troops is the level the ranged attack should be period.

Making the ranged attack for custom critters only overpowered was an overreaction and needs to be corrected.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The ranged attack isn't overpowered. Minion damage in general is overpowered. Custom critters of all stripes put out a level of hurt well above and beyond anything the standard enemies can do.

I don't object to this so much when it's high level characters running the missions, but this makes it impossible to use custom critters in low level stories. They will vivisect anyone using DOs and below.
  2. Radiation Emission might not be as potent as you remember, either. Certain Rad debuffs used to be unresistable by enemies (making it pretty much better than all other debuff sets), which was also changed a while back.
  3. Group Fly would be just fine if they took off the 20% accuracy penalty, and allowed flight enhancements to benefit everyone picked up by the power (or pull the flight enhancements entirely). The issues it has currently make it completely unusable apart from moving MM pets around.

I dunno what to do with Team Teleport. Maybe a watered down version of Gravity Control's Wormhole, except solely as an enemy placement power? Being able to cluster foes would be a lot more useful than it sounds.

Acrobatics is fine, even though it's not really mandatory for certain characters anymore.

Whirlwind is fine, but it's too expensive for what it does. Maybe it should be a fast-recharge click power instead, slottable for knockback if the player really wants it to throw people back.

    Widow survival

It vastly improves at 22 when you can get Foresight, and then Mind Link a little later. It's painful going up until then, though. Try to team a lot, and support them with Maneuvers and Assault.
  5. The problem with Energy Aura isn't that it's a bad protection set. It holds its own pretty well and has a few neat tricks you'll appreciate. The problem is that when you compare it to everything else, all the other protection sets are better in every way. Invul used to have the same problem.

If EA is a delicious slice of pie, the other sets are the same kind of pie, except the slices are bigger and they have whipped cream and a cherry on top.
  6. I don't think it would kill you to slap a "HARD" into your mission description, at least. Cake lovers and pie lovers can co-exist peacefully, but there's no reason to be putting your baked goods under a sheet and tricking the pie lovers into eating cake.
  7. Well, the Prisoners, high level Family, and Shadow Cyst crystals were restored, so there's no reason to think these maps are gone forever. A heads-up would have been nice, but they were yanked for obvious bugs, not because we're not supposed to have them.

As of a few days ago, Crimson does not automatically flee upon entering the mission. He does, however, instantly break off all aggro and run like crazy the moment all the nearby Longbow are down. Having been stunned by the last shot of one of the Longbow, I was royally annoyed that I could do nothing to catch him.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Don't feel bad. There's probably nothing you could have done to catch him anyway. He's functionally immune to slows and immobilizes, and at 25% health he uses Elude and runs from you at super speed. It's not possible to catch up to him, much less fire off an attack.

Yeah, but a Rikti with cat ears is just gonna look weird, y'know?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've always thought that Rikti: No Sense Of Humor. The Rikti forces are all dressed the same in those nice armored uniforms... then look at how the humans dress. That really has to drive the Rikti military commanders nuts, seeing a bunch of goofballs in tights and cat ears walking all over them.
  10. They could always make things equitable by cloning the PPPs, and have them handed out by signature heroes. Different FX, since it's Manticore and Positron teaching you neat tricks now, but functionally the same as Mako and Black Scorpion.

It means a lot more animations will need to be made, but I think it's okay to suggest things that are a lot of work for a retail expansion.

    The mood on MA

I'm a little apathetic mainly because it's excessively difficult to locate any decent missions right now. I went looking through the 4-star missions the other night, and was unable to pick real missions out from the hundreds and hundreds of invalidated Rikti meow missions that haven't been taken down, and can't be reported because they're unplayable.

It should be okay now that the bulk of the farmers have been frightened away, but we need a massive upgrade to the search UI before the MA is usable again.
  12. So, heroes and villains will get to change sides in the new expansion.

Villains are going to need some ancillary power pools for when they turn good.
  13. I was duoing Gaussian last night, and noticed that Lady Grey turned red when we got rolled. It seems allies switch over to the enemy faction when they lose sight of you so they don't get immediately blown away, then change back to allies when you pick them up. This has the side effect that Lady Grey shot at us until we defeated the enemy she was attached to.

Pets aren't changing back over, though. Lady Grey's Dark Servant stayed hostile and we had to put him down. I bet stealth auras or something are making Amy go berserk too.
  14. I think Shadow Cyst Crystals came back a couple patches ago, but I'm glad to see them actually putting the fixed objects back in. Let's hope it doesn't take too long to fix the item placement spawns on the maps they yanked; I want my clone lab back!
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, what the heck is the chicken tug emote?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a one-man version of the purse-snatching emote. Instead of trying to yank a purse away, you're holding a chicken that's desperately trying to fly away.

I think we're better off without it, exploit or not.
  16. Right now it's pretty pointless since every mission in an arc can potentially have wildly different level ranges. This should hopefully change "soon".

    The Sewers

The key to the farming missions is that it lets you rake in mass piles of XP/tickets with relatively little personal risk. Sewer runs actually require some work, which is why most of them wipe at some point. Do you think there's a good chance that careless villains will all get killed if they just diddle around? If yes, you're fine.

As Vox noted, there are a lot of things you have to do to make a good farming mission. You can't accidentally make one, so don't worry about it.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Hmm, I need to go back and check. I thought minions only got up to Shotgun on regular difficulty. Are you making your minions on Hard?

    [/ QUOTE ]
As of the most recent patch, Normal minions have M30 Grenade. AoE attacks were supposed to be bumped up to Hard, so I think this is an oversight.

Custom critters are bad news in general for lowbies. They already hit much harder than standard level 50 enemies. Level 10 characters are meant to fight wimpy guys with fire axes, so they pretty much get pulped by custom foes.

The only thing you can do, really, is avoid using custom critters in low level missions until we can do something about the crazy damage scaling or give standard "thug" weapons to our minions.
  19. If want to delete the critter forever, just delete him from the My Characters window, then edit that faction under My Groups, and it should update.

In the future, a trick I've heard about is to make one giant group that holds every custom critter you've ever made as a sort of bullpen, and use that as the base when you add them to other custom factions.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I'm glad they fixed the Rikti, the farms were fun but I was ready for things to go back to normal.

But I seen farms that fought custom critters, wont they still be in effect?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Giving melee power sets ranged attacks may mitigate that to some extent, but you're probably right. Actually, I've seen signs that the PLers have moved on from that, although there's a single fix for all of these that would put a stop to the practice real fast.

But seriously, bases are re-broke? How does that keep happening?
  21. I realized that the voting system was inherently broken when it was explained to me that a four star rating is essentially griefing the arc.

The way Hall of Fame requirements are set up, if you don't get an overwhelming majority of 5 stars, you can't get in, even without people 0-starring you back down. Since there's tons of people who bizarrely refuse to give anything a "perfect" rating ever, very few arcs will ever reach HoF with or without griefers.
  22. I say design for yourself. It is impossible to please everyone, so you may as well make missions that you enjoy. Just make sure to indicate what sort of mission it is (the forthcoming story tags should help with this) because no matter what you like, mystery meat is rarely tasty.
  23. I'd like to see the civilians usable as NPCs too. I struggle to come up with possible abuses, since there's a myriad of other ways to keep a map totally empty save for the enemies you want. I suppose it's to keep you from filling a map with civvies, setting to "defeat all", and making the level unwinnable, but why would you even do that?
  24. Hey, my card does that too sometimes. Except on mine, I get horizontal staticy lines and my FPS stays the same. It only happens after I've been playing a while, and persists after I quit CoX and try a different program.

It's triggered by leaving the window for another program, and I can almost cancel out the static by waving my cursor back and forth over my quickstart icons in the corner, so I've been writing it off as a rare memory corruption bug. I suppose it might be overheating or hardware failure, but marathon sessions of Bioshock don't cause it, so I have no idea.

I figure until the thing actually goes pop, I'm just going to tough it out until new drivers are released and see if that helps.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
All there is is the existing prison cells/defeat functionality the same as you'd encounter on a regular game arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not quite. The jails appear to be broken on Longbow maps. This seems to be true in normal missions, though.
