While I am sure that this will come up again, please let me restate that political threads are not allowed. And any thread involving Mrs. Palin will fall under that heading.
Kinda humorous the coincidence though I admit. -

This sounds like insane amounts of fun. It'll require a lot of scrapping things out, but with the stalker changes I can definitely see this happening. Wish I had a stalker on victory so I could come along.
Well built and played Stalkers are amazing. I have no doubt this could be done with less deaths than the blaster version, however the Blaster pool is a lot larger than the Stalker pool and drawing 8 appropriate Stalkers for this attempt will be more difficult. This isn't meant to dissuade you, I want to hear how this went! -
This issue is pretty much resolved, lets lock it and move on.

For the record, I highly recommend using globals instead of broadcast and joining or forming supergroups of like minded individuals with similar play times.
Also population does not equal ease of finding teams. One of my best buddies refers to Victory as his teaming server, even though he is part of strong super groups on Freedom. Victory has an unbelievable amount of TF's being run and they are always looking to bring new people aboard. I've had good luck on most of the servers, but tactics vary from server to server and population is not necessarily what determines how easy it is. Now for PvP I imagine that raw numbers is fairly important. -
I'm locking this thread for obvious reasons. Couple of comments though:
@Razoras: Sarcasm, especially that of an extreme kind, does not work well on the internet. If you are going to use it, please make it explicit. I.E. state "the above is sarcasm."
@Eisregen_NA: Perhaps saying something, along with refusing to move from her path would have gotten your point across better. Assuming that changing her behavior and not physically harming someone was your motive.
@Everyone who feels that the anecdote in question was not misogynistic:
The use of the expletive that is commonly either reserved for women or for men perceived as not acting in a masculine manner is what gives the story a misogynistic tone. Tell the same story replacing all gender identifying information and derogatory terms for woman with cyclist and suddenly those complaints go away.
Word choice can be something that was poorly done from habit, or it can be revealing to underlying assumptions and beliefs about gender roles in society. I will not attempt to determine which it was in this case however it is something to think about, especially when communicating in a written form with people who don't know you. And while the argument can be made that others' opinion is not important, forethought does aid in communication. -
Appreciate the kudos, but comparing us even to one of our sister games is not allowed. This is to avoid the inevitable flame war as devotees of all sides are drawn to threads that compare/contrast like moths to a flame.
I'll go ahead and lock the thread now to head things off just in case. -
Dark is my 2nd favorite buff/debuff set after rad. Kin coming in a distant 3rd. Currently it's the 2nd most common set I play after rad, and I'm strongly considering trying to form an all dark super team (probably redside for a mix of corrupters and MMs). Dark does unbelievable things in SO's, and in a high recharge build is excellent for steamroller teams. I can't stress enough how highly I personally think of this power-set.
Storm is excellent as well, although extremely skill based. If you are a good stormy, it's the right answer for almost any situation. If you are a poor stormy it's always the wrong answer. Since I'm not confident enough of my skills yet (as a stormy) I tend to solo my /storm corrupter more than group and the chaos that ensues makes it more fun than 3 barrels of monkeys with Ritalin prescriptions.
These sets might not be everyone's barrel of advanced tea substitute. Dark is the antithesis of flashy, if a single Dark is on a team and they are doing their job well, it's likely that no one will notice. After all when everything is going smoothly and the mobs are dropping like rain who notices that their powers are hitting a bit harder and the foes aren't really doing anything other than missing and dieing. Dark doesn't necessarily save the team (although it has the tools if it needs), it prevents the situation from ever going southerly to begin with.
Storm on teams lives for the "Oh Shoot!" moments. It shines in the moments when things go wrong and it can unload 2 barrels of chaos loaded for bear. When those moments happen, and that master run is in danger you'll appreciate that stormy sitting in the back of the team that hasn't yet shown just what they can do. -
Ice cream is good. I'm thinking of subscribing to @agentfoo. Vendetta's are bad, especially when I have to stay a half hour after work removing them. Let's not bring them up again folks.

Political topics, and anything related to 9/11 has a political component intended or not, get people riled up. I love talking politics myself, but I end up getting quite upset over it from time to time.
A number of posters object to RL topics impinging upon their game time (including time on the forums). As you have said, since you (and I since there was no violation of the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines) support their right to state their opinion, we can let this topic go. -
We had recently identified a problem with one of our servers that sends out emails on behalf of the forums, and as part of the resolution to this problem all previously unsent emails were released at one time. This can potentially lead to a fair amount of spam , but this should be past now and we hope that the fix we have put in place will prevent this issue from re-occurring in the future.
Sorry! -
Quote:Please refer to the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines. What's going on is that when you goto the control panel under the uploader it specifies a limit of 600x120. Now, we don't know if that's actually what the "rule" is because nothing's been posted, but that's the only mention anywhere of a limit. When you use [img] tags though they don't care about the limit because you're not using the uploader.

Some people enjoy having specific self set goals. I enjoy building some of my characters towards specific goals, those that I have specific goals for I play with a mind towards those specific goals.
When I play my Ill/Rad I'm focused on getting to the final goal (my final goal, which is different than anyone else's), I have so many goals for him that I strongly doubt I'll ever achieve them all given my playtime and style, but every step closer makes me smile.
Other characters are more for less directed fun. Those that I don't have goals for, I tend to play in a much less directed manner. I don't really care what I'm doing on my scrapper for instance. If it sounds fun, that's where I'm going. I doubt I'll even bother with common IO's for that one, much less an optimized build.
Farmers farm because they are farmers. It doesn't matter even how you define farming, it could be street sweeping in atlas. If you define their group membership based on an activity, if they participate in that activity they are a member of the group. There is not one answer to why all of them participate in that activity, each one has their own personal reasons.
Given that it's a video game, I'm guessing that the answer for most people is they derive some sort of enjoyment from farming. And that's probably the only true answer to your question. -
I've replied on the EU Training Rooms, but that might lack visibility so I'll go ahead and reply again here.
While we aren't happy about not being able to give the EU players access to the I16 Open Beta, it's a technical limitation we're working very hard to find a solution to. We will have this issue solved one way or another at some point in the future, and hope that you will bear with us in the meantime.
The only temporary work around we have at this time is for European players to create a North American Trial Account to check out the powers customization features in I16. While this won't give you the same level of access, it will give you the ability to check out a good deal of it.
Sorry, -
We aren't currently planning on raising our level caps. That isn't to say there won't be more "endgame" content or other ways to advance your character, however the level cap is not a tool we are planning on using at this time.
There is lots of fun stuff coming, but no level cap increase. -
Since it will take some time to review this situation, further discussion at this point is probably non constructive. Especially considering the content of some posts in this thread.

Discussing CO's impact on the in game market is a valid topic. Straying from that topic to discuss CO will get this thread moved to Comic Hero/Villain Culture. Comparing CO and CoH is not acceptable.
The rules are designed to contribute to a free and open exchange of ideas. Unfortunately threads which contain much direct comparison between the games devolve rather quickly into a free and open exchange of criticism and personal attack. Hence they are against the rules.
For the record, I'm not concerned with CO's release in regards to my market strategy. I'm going with a combination of buying recipes and crafting them (a.k.a. manual labor) and long term stocking for the next double xp weekend. My target goal is somewhere in the billion profit range, since I have a perma PA Ill/rad to finish and a soft capped nin stalker. These strategies are netting me a comfortable 100 million a week plus I am steadily filling up my reserves and setting up long term sales.
If I were concerned with CO causing any sort of market fluctuation or unpredictability, I would focus entirely on short term profit strategies and hold almost no inventory. Given what I'm seeing on the market this morning (I was away for the weekend, which seriously limited my profit) I'm guessing the majority of the ebil agree with my assessment because I'm seeing a lot of activity that indicates to me that others are doing some serious bulk purchasing or at least making significant market manuevers perhaps because of the increased price volatility since the last double xp. -
This thread has herded enough rules violations into one spot, I need to nerf it back to a reasonable number.
-
My condolences as well. While I may not have had the pleasure of meeting your friend, the loss of those close to us is something we can all sympathize with.

The Rookery is not a violation of Rule #5.
The rookery threads do serve a constructive purpose, and a specifically virtue related purpose at that. They promote socialization within a specific subset of virtue players who desire social interaction of a certain type. While this sort of interaction might not be interesting to those who do not participate, as long as they limit themselves to one single thread per day (which they do in most cases, although occasional confusion or extenuating circumstance arises)There is no issue with them posting in this manner.
As to some of you who contend that the rookery threads push other topics off the front page, that is not due to the prevalence of the rookery threads since they only post one thread daily. If you have your thread view count set at 10, if there are 9 non rookery threads active (that day) they should comprise the other 9 active threads. The fact that there are not active conversations going on is the only thing that allows the rookery to monopolize (so to speak) the active thread real estate.
If you want other active conversations, please start them and participate in them. I personally think that it would be good for the server community to have a greater variety of types of discussion to participate in, however it has to come from the server population. If people are not posting these sorts of threads or participating in them, then they will not find threads to read that meet their interests either.
I personally do not find the rookery threads particularly engaging or interesting, however I respect the rights of all our players to play as they see fit including those who participate in the rookery. Limiting the rookery participants to one thread goes against their stated goals and intent. I highly encourage you all if your desire is to spark more conversation, and suggest you who are interested start a series of conversations you feel reflect your interests and the interests of those like minded.
Why is the rookery genuinely irritating a number of people? I have to read the rookery threads often, and I can overlook them the rest of the time. People who don't have to read the threads go in there and look for reasons to start trouble. It is easy to ignore, so why do people find it bothersome? Simply do not click on any of the rookery threads since they are clearly labeled.
If in the future the situation changes, and there is perceivable harm to the posting community, or if the rookery posters act in a manner that is in actual violation of the forum rules then their posting privileges will be reviewed. Forum rules interpretations do change over time, and at some point in the future this may change. Until then it is highly inappropriate to continue to harass other players for playing a game the way they choose.
