What if you qualify more as a "Yeti that shaves a lot?" Is it available to us?

+ Depth. I really like to flesh out a character. When I imagine a character, I create their family, friends, pets and other little miniscule details. I like to think that every hero that I create had a past, and that past was instrumental in shaping who they are now.

+ Thorough. I make a habit of researching anything I'm RPing about instead of winging it. If I have a character who hurls plasma? I read into how Plasma acts, functions and is created and manipulated. I like to have a basic knowledge of 'how stuff works'

+ Adaptable. Insofar as working with other people's styles, I'm usually pretty open to stories, complexities and character quirks.

    Weaknesses

+Altitis. Yes, folks, that overactive imagination has its downside. I can create new character concepts on a whim. However, this leads to my attention being split and a total lack of focus on the ONE character.

+Fringe Dweller. In large RP conversations, I tend to fall silent and listen more than participate. Cliques make me twitchy, as I feel as I'm shoe-horning my way into the conversation a lot of the time.

+ Scientific mind. This is both a blessing AND a curse. I can RP a tech or natural-based character with the best of them, but I struggle with arcane-inclined characters. This also applies to mutant characters, but I AM getting somewhat better with that.

+Chatty. I tend to RP in any and all circumstances. However at times I pause to type something witty during a mission and often end up miles behind the group or (if playing an important role) get muddled between fighting and RPing.

I'm sure there's more to add here, but I'll leave it at that for now.
    Are... are you me?

Although, I play tanks, so the Chatty part rarely happens in missions, and I come off as a bit to quiet for a class that has taunting the enemy as a power ( though I am rather proud of the fact that I was able to tell Babbage that "His mother was a Mac" and get the entire Synapse TF and extended SG to laugh).

I also handle Mutants fine, having played a lot of X-men Play by Posts. It's magic that really get's me to role my eyes, as the first two SGs I was in on this game began running Magic story lines over and over and over, despite advertising themselves as a Justice League or other wise all origin inclusive group. It's the "Magic, so I don't have to explain it" mentality most of them had, where as a good number of Science Fiction stories need you to make your statement "plausible" .
  3. I had the idea of making a Green Lantern-esque corps. that all knew Nemesis and Silos were one and the same and were using time travel to stop him. To fit the theme, I toyed with the idea of either limiting power sets (with a mandated color scheme) or require the entire team to be Human only Peace Bringers.
  4. I know of a nice little natural pool in Talos that is perfect for this.

What kind of fallout do you there there should/will be from their real names suddenly becoming public knowledge? Will the Hellions try to torch Synapse's trailer, or the Council go after Manticore's finances? And speaking of Manticore, won't this make it much easier to tie him to Wyvern?
You're expecting this kind of logic from a genre that actively states that Clark Kent is totally not Superman with glasses on?

Even still, it's not like any of the Phalanx have unique names. Off the top of my head, you have Cole (who I thought gave up on his secrete ID), Duncan, White, Sinclair, Keyes (Again, Does he have a Secrete ID if he stands in downtown Paragon with his helmet off for all the world to see?), and Berry. Those are common names last names. Now, granted, if you could prove that the Phalanx meets/are friends in situations where a Birthname is preferred, yeah, you could make the leap, but when they fight villains who hide out in caves with diamonds the size of motorbikes and demand a ransom for a millionaire's daughter in a city known for it's Super Powered crime fighters, I don't think you are dealing with people capable of making such a leap of intuition.
  8. My main is an Invul/SS tank who is a tribute to Ultra Boy in appearance only. His back ground stress that he is purely human who got his powers in a Crey experiment (like all good Paragonians).

I've also done homages to Clay Face, Hyperion, Martain Manhunter (never can find a good fit), Superman, River Tam, Star Boy, Ax from Animorphs (seriously). Needless to say, my toons normally end in homage.
  9. I'm the first making this joke?

Mr. Statesman, tear down this wall!

How can I be the first to make the joke?

I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I was working on a toon that was inspired by Aquaman. Oh, God, I didn't think I was sinning, but I'M SORRY!!!

  14. As a general rule, there is no general rule as to how to make a Mary Sue. If you go to a website touting a "Mary Sue Litmus Test" and answer as if you were taking it several characters (Darth Vader, based on all six films, Spike, from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Wolverine from X-men, BATMAN) you can easily get a response indicating that that character is a Mary Sue (Let's face it, even God v. Batman goes to Bats.). Mary Sue tendincies do not a Mary Sue make. I've seen horrible Mary Sues using the three criteria you outlined, and I have seen horrible Mary Sues using the exact opposite of the criteria you outlined. It all depends on how the character is written and handled, not if it fits into the right list.

Now what happens if one of these characters interacts with an atheist? Wouldn't it make the atheist simply a dumb, dense non-believer? Cause wouldn't an angel that has descended from heavens be living counter-proof to a potential atheist character's philosophy?

Personally, I try to solve that dilemma by simply making my "demonic" characters be "aliens" from another "dimension" that looks very close to what "humans" consider "hell" or some other place that is populated with beings that share many traits with "common definitions" of "demons" and "angels". Same for angelic characters. But I've never played an angel.

Just something I thought I should share. Feel free to discuss the dilemma!
I did RP a character who was Atheist when I first started out. He was convinced that angels and demons were founded in scientific fact and that a good number of them were mutants or such and in a denial brought on by an society that doesn't accept their diffenences.

Which brings me to my pet peeve: Red Side's myopic VG group themes. They all seem to be "mecanries-that-are-really-90s-anti-heroes" and "Demon cults". You would think with the overwelming ammounts of X-men like SGs, at least one VG would be out for "superiority over **** sapiens". Or a "thieve's guild". I guess I want more colorful villains in a City of Villains than everyone wearing a trench coat.

    Why?

I thought Lee hopped out of the womb nuttier than a fruitcake... your telling me he was a sane man at one point in time?
  19. Mistah_H

    Why?

I once saw an interview with Stan Lee, where he said that up until the 60s, comic book publishers were a fairly uncreative lot. If some genre was selling well, the industry would publish story after story after story in that genre and run it into the ground. I always figured in the CoX verse, comic book characters like Superman and Batman were made to piggyback on the popularity of the (then) new fangled vigilantes with powers that everyone was talking about, and the new identities were to protect against whoever they were mimicing or lampooning.

    Kinda odd?

Saw her too. She actually said something to me, claiming that this wasn't her first time doing such a thing and that she made the jump via a loophole that "should be obvious if you spend time in D."

    Edit:

    Pic, yes, it happened:

I would like to direct your attention to the upper right corner of the screen, you can see that the target is Deathwidow, a lvl 50 Magic Stalker, and the Center, where you can see that my current mission is in Steel. Also note that the symbol on the far wall is the one marking the exit to Kings Row.

  22. The Book is always better than the movie.
  23. No problem is a good plan. No plan is a good problem.
  24. ERP: They're in it for the cyber.

MRP: They tend to be a bit graphic for a regular comic book. I've seen MRPers that had no desire to Cyber and had their characters capture and torture other PCs. Not always though. Mostly it means they will react realistically when compared to comic books. I like to think of the difference between MRP and regular RP is the difference between Watchmen and Justice League.

    Generic Rant

*Indication that I am consuming a corn derived starch snack, belittling all participants of the verbal disagreement by implying that such verbal disagreement is similar to poorly written day time dramas traditionally sponsored by hygene products devoted to cleaning the body at large.*

Casual statement that emphasises my above action but adds little to the debate.
