In addition you can also get magnetic sheets for printing "Sister Flame" magnets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oooh, which would make her the coolest kid on the block if she passed those out after giving her speech.
  2. Thanks for the update. With all the radicals out there shouting about how video games are bad, I love that you and Sister Flame are spreading the message that playing a game can bring a family together. Not only that, but that it's something a father can do with a daughter. I could not imagine two better ambassadors for Paragon City.

Justice would have had more of a sense of humor about it Frog.

I got a kick out of it! Honestly though to the people who scolded Frog over this. Grow up. There are much worse things in life to stress over than a necro'd thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm from Justice and I wouldn't appreciate it there, either. Sometimes good threads come back, and that's fine. I think it's good to bring back threads that are valuable but have fallen to the bottom of the heap where no one notices them. This kind of thread, where information is old and should have long been forgotten, shouldn't be brought back. If confuses people and spreads disinformation, which is not something to value unless you work for the CIA.

All that being said, in order for a thread to be revived from the dead, it requires feedback...I am not the sole motivating factor in the equation. So, if you honestly feel what I have done is stupid, or wasteful in some way, please, feel free to abstain from replying, or even go so far as to PM me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but if you do it in public, you should expect that sometimes you're going to get called onto the carpet in public. That seems fair to me.

I think it's annoying and the fact that you think it's a great gimmick, make a big deal about it in your avatar, and made a guide about it is something I find pretty sad.

If this is what you want to be known for, you have some pretty low expectations of yourself. You have a lot more going for you than this, and I think it's sad that this is what you choose to hightlight.
  6. My first rule of Clear Mind: Always use it proactively on any other person with a power to free someone else - like you - from a mez/hold/stun. If you get held and go down in a bad situation, the whole team could suffer.

i wonder if i have ever influenced someone here

You influenced me to pass out Teddy Bears.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Well, now that I know of this feat, it can get quite easy to organize couple TFs with my SG/Coal, since most of us play at more or less the same time.

But yeah, on a PuG it sounds anything but possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, if you have an SG/Coalition group you run with, it should be very easy! Just make sure everyone gets zone access to Cim on the characters they want to bring. You may want to make it a three night event - one to unlock it and two to run the TF.

Good luck and have fun! And if you haven't done the Hess TF yet, make that one your next stop. That one is also pretty short (~2 hours), but you need someone on the team who has unlocked the contact by doing the last two arcs in Stiga. (This can be done via Oroborous.) You should also try the Eden Trial, if you haven't done that one!
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I'm yet to have the time needed for a TF these days (end of college semester)...TFs so need a "savepoint" feature...

    [/ QUOTE ]

They do, just like any mission arc. If the team all logs out between missions, you can all come back and finish the next day. As long as the group agrees on a time to come back the next night and everyone logs out without quitting the TF, you can do any TF over two nights, maybe even three. You won't be able to join any other teams on that character, but that's what alts are for!

The longest the ITF has taken me has been 2:19 and that was because we had a team member who was crashing a lot and had super long load times and we spent a lot of time waiting. It's not long at all if you know what you're doing. Teams who aren't communicating and don't have a plan can take much longer or even fail.
  10. Tonight someone on the Justice server made a bunch of Lethargic Repose IOs and ran around the Cap market shouting, "Take a teddy bear and be happy" in local as he passed the IOs around. If you're not familiar, the Lethargic Repose sleep IOs are the ones with the teddy bear on them. So funny! Thanks Koralith!

The first year CoH was out, my friends and I all made Santa and Elves costumes and went to every store in a zone and bought racks of enhancements. Then we stood in a busy location in the zone and Broadcast that Santa and his helpers had arrived to pass out gifts. We passed out enhancements and ifluence to everyone who came to see it. It was loads of fun. We visited a new zone every night for a week.

One of the game's design flaws is that too much of the mission text is only exposed to the team leader.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have fun with this... when I play with my RL friends, we use Vent. As the team leader, I read the mission description in a dramatic voice. It's particularly entertaining with missions from female contacts... my friends think it's a riot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is a fantastic idea! 5 invisible stars for you.

Most fun thing to do with a Bubbler:

Go to the hollows to the rim of the sink hole, switch force bubble on and begin a troll and outcast launching session. Continue this session till insupressable giggling subsides.

Just make sure you do this during off hours when you least risk throwing baddies into some poor lowbies lap. They will fly for nearly a quarter mile in some cases.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    More fun with Force Bubble:

In the final Croatoa mission where you must protect the henge from the Red Caps, stand at the top of the road and turn on Force Bubble. As the Red Cap ambushes come up the hill, move down to meet them and send them into landscape below. Make points for getting them in the corner vs off to the side.

The fact is that it should be something earned and not by simply waiting till you are so high that the only effort you expend is time

    [/ QUOTE ]

Once again, most of these badges are gotten simply by playing the game and doing missions. Some are not, but that's usually because someone is playing solo on Heroic for whatever reasons - time, they don't like to or can't team, they're playing an AT and powerset that isn't able to kill all the Damned or Bone Daddy bosses before they're gray, etc.

Whatever their reason, I really don't think it's up to you to decide how everyone should get their badges or play the game.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
High level players come near low level spawns and the spawns simply sit there with no reaction. This makes it overly easy for, example, 50s to score badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless they PL'd, it's pretty hard to get to 50 and NOT have a Skulls/Tsoo/CoT/etc badge or be so close that it doesn't matter if you take out a few gray spawns.

Besides, it's a badge. Why do you care if it's too easy for a level 50 to get a Kill Skulls badge? If it's not challenging for you, examplar down and don't worry about it. No reason to change it for everyone. The fact they can do this has zero impact on you or the game.

Also, once a low level spawn is aggroed, they WILL be scared away by a high level character. If I'm playing a high level Defender and help some lowbie out in The Hollows, I have to watch where I move, because if I get too close, I will make all his bad guys run away from him. That's not really very helpful, so I stay back.

Why the Chart is Difficult to Read...

    [/ QUOTE ]

First, thank you for your effort in putting this together. That is appreciated, even if it doesn't sound like it. But the thing is, if your explanation on how to read the chart has more words than the chart itself, there's a problem there.

It is confusing and difficult to read and I think it could be much simplified. Maybe it just needs rows for each AT and then a column each for the new power, where the power came from, the score (I don't know what score that is, so maybe an explanation of the score), and whatever other data you want. I wouldn't use any color coding at all, unless it's to separate rows.

Sometimes simple is better, even thought it might not look as fancy.
  17. Try www.cityofheroes.wikia.com for information about the Positron TF.

    But first!

If you are truly new to Task Forces, you may want to skip this one for now and come back to it later. It's not the best introduction to Task Forces. If you really want to do it, do it with a balanced team of 4 people and no more. With 6 or 8, you get a lot of bosses and they will make the TF crawl by.

Task Forces all spawn to the max level. (There may be an exception or two with newer ones and Trials are different). If you go on a level 10-14 TF with a level 10 team, the spawns will average 14 and you will have a very difficult time. Balance in damage/damage mitigation and level. (If you have two people at 10, you should have two 14s to SK the level 10s.)

(My numbers are leaning toward an average - less than ideal team. Very storng teams can do these in less.) Synapse (2-4 hours, depending on the team) is better than Positron (4-8 hours, depending on the team) and next in the levels. The two Task Forces in Striga are both fun and not terribly long. (Moonfire is about 2 hours; Hess is about 2-3.) Katie Hannon in Croatoa (45 min - 1.75 hours) is also a lot of fun. Hess and Hannon are unlockable. You (or anyone on your TF team must) need to finish the last two contacts in Striga to unlock Hess and the last two contacts in Croatoa to unlock Katie Hannon. Once you unlock the contact, you can repeat the TF as many times as you want.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
This is just a thought I had, so I'll throw it out there. Not saying what's being done isn't cool (It's very convenient, both the streamlined costume selection and showing stats during character creation), but here it is: Is there a point where the information we're getting is too much? I kind of feel like we're venturing into finding out who the "man behnd the curtain" is, so to speak. Does knowing every little piddling detail about everything really make such a big difference in the average player's enjoyment of the game? I know there's number crunchers, and they're gonna love it (probably...some might not like having their stat-geek status lowered when anyone can get their own info), but doesn't making this game more mechanical or mathematical by showing numbers all the time kind of demystify things too much?

I know, I might be overreacting a bit. But think of it this way: People love hotdogs. If you kept reminding them exactly what ingredients are in it, and how its made, would there still be as many who love them? Would they love them as much? Too much information can ruin a good thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No. Because people are truly amazing about simply ignoring the things they don't wish to know about. Some people are, in fact, so good at it, they don't even do it intentionally.

If you don't want to know what's in your hot dog, it's as easy as not reading the labels. Most people don't read food labels, but the ones who want to know can and do. This is no more "in your face" than said label on said hot dog. Anyone who doesn't care will simply ignore the button; after all, you have to click the button to see the information. Meanwhile, all the people who have asked for it will get it. I see this as entirely a "win-win" situation.
  19. Your idea sucks because:
    [*]Itemized list.

I'm kidding; well done. I think you covered the major points very nicely. You may want to come up with an abridged version for some of the real "tl;dr" people, since they would benefit from this, too. (Because, remember, "tl;dr" never applies to the writer. People will happily compose eleventy-billion word posts of their own, all the while refusing to read more than 10 words of anyone else's idea.)
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Again I am not trying to take away from what WW did, it is just like everyone else has said we either want to know about the stuff we want or just hold it all to the end because the suspense is going to kill us either way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suppose it's a credit to the game that the suspense over VEATs and powerset proliferation might kill some of you. But seriously... manage it. It's not like you can really do anything with the information when it hits, anyway. I really don't see the point in getting all worked up over something you can't control or change, even when you do get it.

Generally, my belief is that some information, even it's "we don't know yet," is usually better than no information. But they ARE giving us information, so it seems to me that complaining about the order it's being given in is just silly. You will get it sooner or later. Provided you're still alive after that terrible suspense ordeal, of course.

    [ QUOTE ]
I really hope this is not all the info we are getting today.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I stated in an earlier thread, we are still weeks out from closed beta and more weeks out from open beta and then launch. So, expect to get something on a weekly basis from now till then. If we just dumped it all out now, well we'd be sitting around going "that's nice, but when can I play it?" So, thanks for your patience and understanding that it won't all come at once.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually prefer having the information come out a little at a time. It gives me something to look forward to and, as stated, doesn't create a huge "dead air" space while we wait for the content to actually show up. Besides, the sooner it comes out, the sooner people will started escalating the " Why is X so Y and how come they didn't make Z more K? " posts. I'm good without those. I don't need months of people complaining about things they haven't even seen yet.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I still think these revamps should be for both sides, some how though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like the Rikti War Zone? They have only so many people and so many hours in a day to work with. It's not like we've seen uninterrupted strings of zone changes made only to one game. CoH has many unused zones, while the CoV zones are more streamlined. I'm not saying CoV shouldn't get any attention. But CoV did benefit from the war zone, is getting a new secondary for MMs, and will probably get more in the future.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I pulled every single mission door from the zone and reassigned it to a specific contact AND that contact's neighborhood. What this means is; no longer will players have to fly across the deadly Grendel's Gulch at Level 5 for their Frostfire mission at the other end of the zone, dodging spawns that can make mincemeat of them in a few short hits.

    Dear War Witch,
