...(one of the reasons I dislike badgers). And I will personally look down on people who farmed for it like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, how exactly are you going to assess this? How are you going to deem someone can be judged to have farmed or not? -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, these could be the words from someone unexperienced because I never played CoH, but I don't get why should Brutes get Taunt. We are not Tankers, our role in a team is to get aggro by attacking the mobs and getting Fury from the ones who hit you back. None of my Brutes have Taunt.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never found anything stands long enough for taunting it to be of much use, neither does my Brute like to stand around taking time out to taunt stuff when it could be attacking and causing more damage.
I've only played all elec' though, and found I had no problem attracting and keeping plenty of aggro. Maybe it's different for other sets, and I have to say, I am considering taking Taunt for the LRSF. My Elec' CAN tank, and tank well, and better than a lot Tanks I've seen in COH, so I can see Taunt could help the team even more in the LRSF environent. I really want to know that all the big Heroes are going be pummeling ME, and that I have their attention, and their big cone attacks or AOEs etc are away from my team buddies, so adding taunt to the mix could give even more of that assurance.
But yeah, can't say I've ever missed not having it at any other time.
Oh, taunt is really really good in PvP - base raids especially if that's your thing. -
I specced to Tough and Aid Self recently for a try out, and I agree, I've noticed a massive difference in my /elec Brutes surviveability.
Running Lightning Field too pushes things well into the danger areas endurance wise though, if left running unchecked so right now I'm toggling it on/off as I need and as endurance allows until I make a final decision.
I have the Leaping Pool, Fitness, Medicine & Fighting Pool. So things are really tight now.
My Brute's specced to the LRSF and I'm really happy how it's doing atm, so I'm recluctant to make any big changes in a hurry but I am thinking hard about dropping LF for taunt though, much as I actually like LF's feel and look to my toon. I don't really have any gaps in holding aggro with so much AOE stuff on hand, but taunt would perhaps give more focus at anytime it's needed.
I do need some changes for PvP down the line, but still doing ok on that front too. Dropped into 20 odd heroes in RV all buzzing around a turret and took everything they could throw at me plus Nukes and Shivs'. Tough has made so much of a difference, from being happy with what the character could do, to being really surprised on occasion.
I would think about dropping LF for Taunt maybe. I've not really found things so bad I need Conserve Power as an extra supplement though, but then, I have much more end' reduction in my armours than you mention. -
My Plant/Thorns solo's really well.
No problems at all actually managing the aggro or staying alive, but had problems aplenty actually trying to scratch away and take the bigger stuff like EB's down.
I set my rep' according to how I'm doing with contacts, arcs and badges. Whenever a free run presents itself, I go to Relentless. Now I have my Flytrap, I find there's enough of an extra kick in damage I can take that big stuff on now.

Remember that the Arch-villain badge is up for grabs and you couldnt call yourself an Arch-villain now if you didnt have a detailed evil plan...

..and evil secret weapons and evil alien henchmen!
And no Silent' I am not saying we did not use these at all. I encourage doing it outside the deemed mandatory set ups that have been prescribed many times before. I certainly intend to walk away with that badge on my Dominator and Mastermind when they are the right level.
We've worked hard to break the pattern and play a plan that allowed our friends to join in and complete it with what we have available. Nekros' came up with a different strategy from that we'd tried before, and it ran very well even off the 1st try. How anyone approaches the task is up to them. Ours requires Shivans & Nukes. That's acceptable to me if it means we can break the need to be restricted to minimum numbers and specifics of the team and opens the event up to anyone that would like to play. As said, half the challenge and reward of this is hatching a fiendish plan and achieving it.
I'm pretty sure that any well balanced team used for any other PVE task would be able to do this task too, but yes, some extra elements are needed.
This was described as a dedicated, high end piece of villain content for dedicated players. I don't have a problem with it needing some extra effort and work from elsewhere in the game. I guess it's personal opinion at the end of the day. I'm sure someone in time will ace this with no Shiv's or Nukes anda surprising set up.

...if your not on a team with one Stone brute and 7 corrupters its a waste of an evening. Well not totaly a waste as it fun in general but the last mission is impossible without them if not on the developers 'IDEAL' team.
That might sound contraversial but its the plain and simple truth.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm afraid that's not true by any means, and the last mission is by no means impossible without the apparent mandatory ideal team.
Our team of an all Electric Brute, all Dark Brute, Dark/Nin' Stalker, MA/Nin Stalker, Zombie/Poison MM,and Dark/Kin, Sonic/Ice, and Rad/Rad Corruptors completed this ok. -
Hey Nostra. I have a level 24ish Elec/Elec Blaster or thereabouts (too many alts to track properly
)
I'll be more than up for a bout or two of fun PVP with you. My Blaster also comes as is for levelling right now (and already a bunch of stuff I'd like to respec). I have higher characters too, if you wanted to try other foes, but even exemp'ed down to your level they'll have better slotting and amount of insps.
Give me a shout @mighty' or on the Defiant PVPers global and I should see it if I am around.

Medicine Pool slotting looks pretty ok to me.
The interrupt reductions on Aid Self are very cool for getting it activated in the panic times when things are starting to get a little nerve wracking. Not sure how much reduction is needed on Aid Other. When the Bots are taking fire, I find I *usually* am not, so can manage the heal in a fairly relaxed manner.
Considering you have Aid Other, I would consider dropping Repair. With the slotting you have on Aid Other, you should be able to look after your Bots fine, and you'll get far more use out of it over Repairs downtime. I think you'll find Repair a little redundant if you can get into a routine with Aid Other.
Seeker Drones are nice, but I found them redundant too, as with Upgrade, Protector Bots spam an awful lot of them anyway. I found summoning another 2 myself to be of little use. However, you do have the advantage of being able to place them exactly and they can be nice to take enemy alpha strikes.
Would Black Scorpion's shield be better slotted for defense? Pretty sure it's all stackable with your generator and what you're provided from your Protector Bots. I *think* you can hit around 33% defence to Smashing/Lethal or Energy attacks (I'd have to re-check to be sure).
Damage Resistance is ok, but with so little health in the bank anyway, I get scared thinking about taking damage on the chin and hoping to mitigate some of it. I'd rather not be hit at all.
Slotting on your traps looks ok at a cursory glance. Personally I slot all out on Poison Trap and Acid Mortar and put a lot of recharge in, but that's more for Base Raid bias where they really shine.
The Pulse Rifle Burst is good for exactly what you're saying. You can always /bind a pet to do pulling which is much personally safer for you. I like the 'Burst and it does have a pretty good kick, good for delivering the final blow etc when you feel like it

Last night was great. Grats to Raz and the guys for forming this channel
.
IMO the big reason it worked last night was it was a relaxed, laidback and friendly environment and the matches that came about were good fun. I turned up and played a couple with my /leccy brute which I've really not tried out in PvP much at all and it was great to get to test drive it out & get some ideas about tweaks I might want to make along the way.
I think this could be a great tool for injecting some interest into Defiant PvP and could provide a place equally for the PvP hardcore AND the very inexperienced, or newcomers who otherwise might avoid trying.
Great stuff! Long may it continue!

This picture was taken after the raid failed, after I died with the group that joined to try & stop the invading GMs, and shows a bit of what we saw, stood on the "other rock". I heard a shout about GMs go up and when I turned, I got quite a good look at the monsters path of approach.
The GMs approached from an empty area well between both hills and headed straight for the healing team. No-one knows how exactly that happened. Probably we just won't know at all. But from what I saw as they came in, the GMs came through the area I marked, which is quite some distance between the two rocks. There were no GMs at either rock, so something else happened, and really, the calls that people were in the wrong places should stop. Obviously it's frustrating as hell this failed for everyone that was working hard at completing it. At the end of the day, if people were in the wrong place and attracted the GMs, they'd have come to whichever "rock" it was that aggro'd them?
It was a damn good raid. Thanks organisers for trying. Maybe next time if a lot of us are all looking outwards a GM incursion could be spotted sooner and possibly averted before they have a chance to attack a team in the jelly? -
Just one thought:
"I will be wearing an all white costume without a cape".
I can't remember any time I've actually got a physical look at the targetter, lol. I have my friends list open, resized and scrolled to show just the targetters name, and as long as I see him/het in my target info box, I'm good & following.

Btw Zap', sure it's mean mentioned already but... WELCOME BACK
!!!
Good to see you ingame again. Prof' Vulcan has a level 50 Elec'/Elec' Brute duplicate that needs a bit of dusting off sometime if you're up for some malfactored company anytime.

I'll be there. 7's gonna be a little bit of a dash home tho'

Based on their perfomances in zones, and arenas, and bases. Great all rounders in most situations. -

...10 minutes seems to ring a bell and since the HP/DEF changes to base items, that's actually not long for them to trash stuff(it took 3 brutes over 10 minutes to destroy the basic generator in tests)...
[/ QUOTE ]
Our team of 16 heroes & Shivan Decimators took a shielded turbine generator down in under 3 minutes.
We've taken down several other generators in live instanced raids. Some of the times it was close to the hour mark and was an incredible battle of attrition, being defeated, spawning back in base & tp'ing back to the raid again over & over, but it's doable, and once the generator goes down, the raids almost won.
Taking the generator down is the attackers most achievable method of getting the defenders out of base.
Picture this, it takes less time on the long animation setting the Pylons up than it takes a full defending team to get across town from an outside hospital back to the base portal and fighting through the secret entrance. I've seen it happen several times where the attackers have not even scored once on the anchors, yet past the 50 minute mark they've takne the generator and defeated the defenders out of base, and under a minute later all the Pylons go up, the anchors come down and the raid is won by Pylon Disruption. It happens really fast. So fast and confusing that one VG actually thought they had won.
I've had a long look at our base items, and I'm hard pressed to think of anything I'd rather lose over the Turbine generator.
Is smashing up bases "griefing"? No, I'm afraid it's not. There's things in bases that play lesser or greater roles on raiding, but base stuff is going to be as fair game as any player entering a PvP zone. I find it discomforting too, but that's going to be the reality. Personally I will think long and hard about raids, and I'd not be inclined to do it without a full team of 16 able to drop everything and defend the base in the raid windows.
Also, raids will have peoples best builds, lots of Insps and lots of temps in the way of things like Shivan Decimators and Warburg nukes. Particular characters will get ganked non stop the whole time. I hope people getting involved in raids are going to realise all of this before hand. -

Ive seen power sink zap away 1/3 of the endurance bar (dont expect the same if ur up against another /elec. U will need the slotting u have + hasten, and the ulitmate drainer would be elec/elec/mu. Wether /elec/mu will do, something Ill have to test for myself on the test server. I am totally undecided which patron to chose atm. With my DM/elec brute I chose black scorpion, and its an excellent choice, with alot of effects/powers combining, to produce a profound effect.
However no other brute primary has an immobilize to stack with the patron powers, so its either black scorpion again or if I find some other effect worthwhile. I may just try to go with the most damaging patron, based on damage type/magnitude/recharge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have Hasten and I have Mu Mastery as Patron Powers. Never tried sapping Endurance from another Elec' Brute, but have fought against many other ATs. -

EM/ELA Brute (with no +perception) fights a Claws/Regen Stalker in the arena level 47-50 - no insps allowed.
I spend the whole fight using Super Speed moving, trying to avoid AS. When he gets one in I pop Aid Self, run in BU+ attack chain. He's a /Regen so he heals then placates then goes back into hide. This goes on for 10 minutes - result 0-0
After the match I get grief telling me that I am coward and won't fight "toe to toe" like a Brute should which I interpret as "you won't stand still and let me AS you". So we fight again same sort of thing but he's not using hide (this is the most annoying part of the fight) whenever he placates me I try and break line of sight. To shouts of all you do is run! I beat him 1-0 (not much of an achievement because he wasn't using hide).
What was most disheartening was the fact that I was called a coward and that I couldnt PVP because, as I see it, I wouldnt stand around and let a Stalker AS me.
Earlier on I got the same kind of response from a Stalker in Warburg, because I was using Super Speed and trying never to stand still long enough to let him get AS off.
The way I see it if a Stalker wants to Assassin Strike me hes got to work for it the critical part of Assassin Strike is unresistible it doesnt matter how much defence or resistance I have it hurts a lot. And Aid Self isnt reliable enough for me to recover before the inevitable Placate + Critical.
What are peoples opinions on this fight?
[/ QUOTE ]
You win by default with a score of 763216532176321 to 0 because the fool decided to use his mouth instead trying to use his powers properly.
First person to use a mouth instead of a power in a fight loses by default.
Sometimes I really think there's a lot of people out there who have emptied out their power trays and filled the things with inane comments and attitudes. No wonder they get beat. A lot. -
What's the point in a Brute slugging it out toe to toe anyway, it's not like you'll be building any of the currently non-existent fury on offer.

I stopped playing my plant/thorn at 33 because I was convinced that seeds would get nerfed and I didn't want to get too attached.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arrrrrrrghhhhh! Delete it, delete it, don't give them ideas! I am attached! No seperation anxiety please!
Seeds' is an absolutley fantastic power.
I don't have Fling Thorns, as I really like Skewer a whole lot. There's so much good stuff in Plant/Thorns it makes for quite a tight build to fit all the fun bits you want in.
How does Fling Thorns rate, and what slotting do people use on it? I'd probably want to go 2 X Accuracy, 3 X Damage (Acc' for a bit of PvP)? But my build is so tight on choices and slots as I enjoy so much of what's on offer.
I do have Impale, which perhaps could be dropped?...but I love the - components in it, and do intend to do some recreational PvP with the character.
I'd never make a decision between Seeds' and Carrion Creepers, take them both!
Glad to see someone having a lot of fun with a Dominator anyway, and enjoying Plant/Thorns especially.

Why is half of Powersink so incredibly gimped in PvP...or do I have some freaky bug just on my Brute?
In PvE I can sap huge chunks of endurance of mobs and bosses, and it's a key part of soft control and operating my Brute.
In PvP I get the benefit of recharging my own endurance, but basically naff all else. I take a tiny blip off characters, which is recovered pretty immediately by anyone with Stamina.
Ok, I'm not expecting the impact it has in PvE to translate directly to PvP, that would be craaaaaaaazy unbalanced, but the disparity is so large it's just stupid and it's that inconsistency that really bugs the hell out of me. If a power needs to be adjusted so dramatically in the way it works from PvE to PvP it's a bit stupid having it included in the set at all? If powers were products I'd be hightailing that one to the trading standards officers. I would hazard to say that the one power is actually almost two different powers from one aspect of the game to another.
I have mine slotted 3 X End' Mod' & 3 X Recharge. -
The Poison trap is great, as is the Acid Motar, and Trip Mines add a bit of icing to it all.
Caltrops and the Web Grenade are just brilliant.
Traps can be frustrating to use. In PvE, epsecially on a team, you might find yourself charging through stuff much quicker than any payoff from building your traps setups.
If you do PvP a bit, it's a fiddle to get the stuff set up, but Poison Trap spams a great hold, if a little short on duration, but it has really good debuffing, as does the Acid Mortar. Best bet is adding TP foe into the mix and pull what you're after into a whole mess of everything you can get set up.
I used a Robots/Traps MM in a base raid defense and it's just devastating.
