  1. I've been critical of the series to this point for many reasons I've argued here on the boards and I won't dredge up a lot of old stuff.

Short reaction. I really liked it, maybe as an entire movie, better than the other two with the exception of the twenty or so minutes Ledger was in TDK. It was a good action movie, but like Nolans vision I wouldn't classify it as a good "superhero" movie.

I think Michael Caine did Oscar nomination worthy work and thought the Alfred stuff really worked. I also really liked Anne Hathaway's take on Catwoman. Very CoH rogue. It was nice seeing a character that actually seemed to enjoy who they were and not get too grounded in the emo reality that I think hurts some of the franchise.

There were plot holes, inconsistencies and some odd character motivations I will admit, but no more than already existed in the Nolanverse. It seemed par for the course, but it was still an enjoyable big budget movie that I think did a good job of closing a chapter in a franchise. (Come on, you know Joseph Gordon Levitt will have a trilogy in the future) Personally I'd love to see a Catwoman movie with Hathaways take on the character.

I loved the ending as a close to Nolans vision of this Batman and that it left the story open ended that even though it may be the last of Bruce Wayne, the ideal of Batman will continue. That has been a pretty consistent theme in this trilogy and I think it worked. And I haven't seen it said yes but when Alfred gave the speech earlier in the movie I couldn't help but think of Ben Affleck's speech to Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting (one of my all-time favorite films) and I loved that it ended in a similar fashion.

I think the series as a whole has problems and suffered from some serious bloat, but find they did a good job drawing it to an ending. Was it better than the Avengers? Uh, no.

    B/B+

Actually he had bought a ticket, went into the theater then left via an exit door and left it propped open so he could gear up and re-enter.
  3. I see what you did there.

    And........meh. Better luck next time.
  4. Whew, that was a lucky headache. Sorry to hear about the tragedy in your area.
  5. As always, its great to see it being recognized, but I really had hoped for a nomination for Maisie or Lena.

Edit- and Alfie Allen who may have out acted Dinklage this season.
  6. Around 30 level 50s

    1. Around half of them are +3 (the other half are working towards that goal) About half of the +3s have hybrid. (I've been slow on the hybrid unlocking)
    2. All 50s get 'incarnated'. They all have at least alpha unlocked and slotted and are working towards +3.
    3. Any character rolled is intended to be fully incarnated at some point (tier 3s being the priority).
    4. I have one 50 and a 49 mastermind that I don't enjoy playing that might not see any incarnate action and be retired.

I typically don't try uber hard for tier 4s, but will if drops are in my favor and do have several characters with a few tier 4s. Once I get a toon to +3 I move onto the next 50. Because I have a good stable of characters I'll typically volunteer to switch if a certain type of AT/powerset is needed. When something new is introduced my main hero and main villain will be the priority for badge, powers, unlocks etc. Then I'll move onto whichever toon floats my fancy or helps fill a trials needs.

  9. Try this. I ran into this a while back. Open Nvidia Control Panel. Under power management see if its marked variable. If so change it to the other setting (I believe its called performance preferred or something along those lines). Whenever you change drivers it reverts back to this setting and needs to be changed.

I now have some anxiety about GRRM being able to finish his epic in his lifespan. I wouldn't be surprised to have him keel over in some near-future Comic-Con hotel, while receiving fan-sex from a star-struck nerd-grrl.
Don't let the nerdrage you read on the internet prejudice you about the series before you even read it. Books 4 and 5 are fine. Many people consider them the weaker of the series, but they are still better fantasy than other authors can produce. What you'll find behind most of the drama over books 4 and 5 are people who had their pet theories dashed because Martin is so unpredictable and he took his time getting book 5 out. (For a ton of reasons) Personally I get tired of all the fear mongering the "loyal fanbase" bellows out over Martin dying before finishing. It's his story. It's his world. He'll write it when he does and it will or won't get finished. But that doesn't take away from what we have now and that's a brilliant story. Read it if you want. I promise you won't regret it.
  11. Read the first two. Trust me. Read them. While the show is a good representation of the source material, the books are so much more dense and layered. It's worth the extra time, besides you have until March 31, 2013 until Season three starts.

Edit: Also while Season 1 is fairly true to the first book there are things in the background that are important down the line they didn't touch on the show. Also with Book 2 there were significant changes (most just compressing stories and characters) enough so that reading it will seem "fairly" new to you and will make Book 3 make a heck of a lot more sense to you. Dany's story in Qarth for instance is much much different in Book 2. (for good and bad) I think you'd be a little lost jumping straight to book 3.
  12. Got mine through twitter this afternoon. Woot!
  13. no no
    yes, sometimes
    depends
the rewards are fine as is
    not really
    frequency seems about right
  14. For those worried about social media and privacy, just set up a character acct. Make an account for your CoH main, create a gmail acct and use your character information. (My main has an email account that I use for contact with ingame friends as well as all gaming related email.) Then sign up for FB and/or Twitter and follow CoH. Done. Check every now and then for updates and such but don't use it for anything else. Problem solved. Nobody is selling information to anyone about you and you can keep up with CoH marketing without big or little brother learning a single thing about you personally.

They aren't the same. There. I said it. Again. Haha.
  16. We have one, it's called DFB.
  17. To be fair, they did have one but are currently looking for an alternative oath. The last one didn't test well due to the use of the phrase:

When faced with our darkest hour,
Our enemies will fear White Power!

Nope, did not test well at all.

Pffft, I'm on a team every night on Guardian and have been since Issue 1. We have regular scheduled events, and active community and three busy global chats forming TFs and leagues. Unless you play late or non primetime hours you can find almost anything to do on Guardian. It's not the busiest (thank god) but its far from dead.

    Opossums....

I, for one, welcome our new Opossum Overlords.
  20. Agreed, good idea. I really enjoy these but typically only run them when they are WSF, but would much more if iXP was attached.

Just because they are red herrings doesn't mean he won't complete the threads. It just means that they are distractions or subterfuge.

I don't buy Aegon being real one bit. But his story will be finished........and it won't be pretty for Aegon or Connington. The Iron Bank will have significance in a couple of different ways. (If you've read any of the pre-released chapters you'll know what I'm talking about) 1. Who they end up backing 2. Collecting debts from the crown (i.e. more deep doodoo for Cersei....possibly involving Faceless Men) I think the militirized church is already in play in weakening the crown. And Robert Strong is just a nice piece of flavor storyline, but not significant in the grand scheme.
