There are limits past which Origin simply shouldn't go, especially - or rather specifically - this late in the game.
Directly tied to origin?
We have stores. Heroside, *sort of,* contacts (your starting contact is determined by origin, and at 30-35, which store you end up having to unlock - though you can do any origin store's mission. You can do them all, in fact.)
The problem when it comes to powers is that there's no *reason* to limit them to origin - even for pools. For instance, many people would say Dark Miasma is "Magic," and have argued how "wrong" it is for a Bots mastermind to be tech and have it - yet at least one of those same masterminds explains it as sending out a cloud of nanobots to produce the effects. Another can say "We have portals that take us to other deimensions, why should I not use one to draw and direct energy from elsewhere?"
Or there's the common, on these boards, "I've got a natural hero, he can't have a travel power or he won't be natural!" OK... so does he walk to the next state when he wants to visit someone, or take a car, bus, train or airplane? Does he use trains or teleporters to get from zone to zone? Guess what, he's using technology despite being natural, enjoy the backpack.
Pretty much any power you can come up with as "having" to be for an origin or "definitively" X origin, I'm betting can have multiple alternate explanations covering other origins. And I have yet to hear a good explanation as to why one origin can't use something hinting at another origin.
The biggest issue, though, is that this is being suggested over five years into the game. Some people have picked origin, yes. I'd lay money down that a majority of the characters in game just clicked one to go to the next screen - and don't forget the epics which are tied to an origin (three natural, one science) and never had a choice. Suddenly you're putting in limitations that there's no way they could have ever known about when they made that character in 2004.
Or, as you put it...
[ QUOTE ]
So you'd pick origin for the same reason and live with the consequences.
[/ QUOTE ]
... but they *haven't* for the past five years.
If the devs went and started asking "What do you want to see in COH 2," feel free to suggest it. Doing anything past storylines, though, this far along in the game? Just not a good idea. -
And we're honest in saying "Learn to budget, kid."
So learn to budget. -

another game i play phantasy star universe which is $9.99/month. it came out in october 2006. and ppl complain about the fee there all the time. and sometimes i subscribe to wow. also xbox live $50/yr these fees add up. 9.99 for psu, 14.99 for wow, 14.99 for coh. thats 50+ a month on games. this adds up.
along with about 200 to 300 on groceries/alcohol/restaurants per month, 279 for rent each month. 40/mo to my brother for doing the dishes, and cleaning the apartment. 20 for adult entertainment. 50 for car insurance. 25 for renters insurance. 10 for life insurance. 30+ for gas. i'm gonna have to pay for dental insurance soon. also money for furniture, new bed, bedding stuff, electronics, soon a new $1200 computer. also other games i buy such as sf4, fightpad controller, defense grid, castle crashers, ssf2thdr and other games, video rentals. and medical expenses i just paid 735 for a hospitol bill, credit report 25. gambling, movie theateres, postal stamps, luckily no credit cards currently. and i get about $900/month from disability, and i live in north county san diego, ca. i'm not working right now. soon i'll go back to work after i have a cataract in my eye removed. then i go back to pizza delivery for round table while getting disability.

Welcome to life.

i'm surprised so many ppl were against this. you must be rich or are you brats that live off your parents. how easily do you give away your money. talk about trolls, and flaming. it seems like you should want to save money not give it away. what are you gonna do when champions comes out? pay another 14.99 or let your characters die? i'll probably subscribe to this on, and off like i do wow. and switch to champions maybe when it comes out. also i was only trying this game out to see wheter i like it or if it was worth it, not promising to be a lifetime subscriber.

$15/month.
Actually, not even. $41/3 mo.
Compared to the last movie I went to, on a matinee, which was $12 (as I recall) for just the movie and a *medium* drink. Which provided 90 minutes of completely passive entertainment, forgotten in a day. $5-$9 for a magazine, which I can burn through in half an hour. I'll give it an hour, since I'll usually read it at least twice. Book? Depends. From $5 to $30, usually, though some of the reference stuff I pick up can be up to $90... so I don't pick them up often these days, spending the time instead to do research at the library and online. COH? VERY cheap by comparison.
You want to talk about "trolls and flaming," kiddo, you're the one saying the people disagreeing are "rich or brats living off their parents." I'm neither one, and I know several - most, in fact - of the others who have posted certainly are not.
You complain about $15, and you're *literally* throwing money away gambling? 200-300 on food, alcohol, and restaruants? 20 on "Adult entertainment?" Ton of games?
And you complain about $15/month. Cut out a case of beer. Rent the games or wait 'til they go down in price (or, assuming they're consoles, you can get them used.) Shop around and buy food where it's cheaper. Realize that a pineapple is a pineapple no matter who's name is on the label. Hell, I've managed to live on $20/week on groceries. Fancy, no, but it kept me *fed.*
Quit whining about the price of one recreational item when your little list there is full of other completely nonessential items - yes, that includes alcohol and COH, as well as the *long* list of other gaming-related items, among other things.
Learn to prioritize. Cut out some of the *utter crap* you have listed in there if it's such a strain on your budget - you do have a budget worked out, or at least a rough idea of "needs" versus "luxuries," right? -

I don't know how he could have accidentally respecified instead of creating a second build. The two options are not even possible at the same contacts.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arbiter Lupin and Arbiter.... drawing a blank now... are right next to each other in Nerva.
One does respecs, one does levels (and would be who you went to to do the second build.)
Now, yes, the process is somewhat different - honestly, I don't recall what the respec guy says even, or if he just throws you into the respec. There's potential for confusion there, though.
Any questions we might have for what the OP saw and such, though, would be moot - he did say he's been playing her that way for months. There is a clue, though, if he remembers - two, actually.
1. Leveling from 1, with the alternate build, will (as I recall) force you into the level 24 respec process on the second build (which IMHO is *very* irritating,) since the second build is building from the ground up. A respec, however, will let you pick the branch right away.
(In other words, Second build:
Choose powers from 1-23, then it tells you to respec, and starts you at level 1 but with the powers open again.)
Respec after 24:
You can pick Night widow or Fort branch right away with your first power.)
2. If it let you re-slot enhancements, it was a respec. If you had none past what was in your tray - 10 max - you did a second build. -

I'm pretty sure the "She volunteered, oops, she got poisoned" is one of the Arachnos-uniformed ones in any case... which would limit which ones it is. Brass is more concerned with Aeon and the Goldbrickers, Mr. Corporate-speak is more concered with brass...

Asked jay about updating some of the older (and somewhat broken - Female, Tops with Skin, Stripes, I think it is that doesnt' line up at all, for an example) costume bits. Said there were so many demands for new bits that updating old ones, while he wouldn't mind, probably wouldn't be something to hold your breath waiting for.

Well they're not KILLED.... they're arrested and sent to the zig's auto-rez system... duh.
>_>
hehehe arrest.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gee, really? I feel so much better about that Taranchula Mistress who exploded in my face the other day!
*snort* "arrest"...
[/ QUOTE ]
Technically, we "defeat" them. Not arrest, and not kill.
Though some are rather obvious (exploding Jaegers,) and some have their fate strongly hinted at (leave no witnesses - or "We have so and so in jail.") -
I'm not sure how various games (GTA, I think burnout) handle it - but as an MMO, we'd pretty much have to keep going through the process.
Of course, *perhaps* it would be able to be gotten around, much like Audiosurf, just by using music you already have on your system. Point to the directory. (Of course, I have to start poking into subfolders by artist, which could start making this more hassle than it's worth.) -
OK. In the course of a mission, solo on heroic, my lowbies could defeat - let's see, 2-3 NPCs per spawn, a good 50 spawns or so - several hundred bad guys?
So I'd finish a mission, and spend the next three weeks in court just IDing them. >.< -

Anyone ever see .hack?

Which of the many? The animes? Games? Manga?
Edit:
As for the list... it'd be another thing I'd turn down, personally. Any sort of membership, in any case, would have to have specific guidelines (including "No, you can't contest this") to hopefully lessen the impact of arbitrariness. It wouldn't eliminate it completely - and quite honestly I think most of the decisions would end up being "Well, you did this, they said this, listed this, you broke the rules, why are you talking to us?" -
That sounds Phipps-ish. Either that or he's the one that had someone dissected...

And for the record, what the hell is a "Dev Trick"?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's like a hat trick, but where you greatly annoy three devs instead. -
Going from (potentially rusty) rememberance of Westin Phipps arc -
Fortunatas and Banes are taken from psychically gifted children/young people. Banes are turned inward, essentially joining a 'hive mind.' Fortunatas are developed outward so they have some degree of precognizance. The fortunatas would be the more independant of the two.
(Happen to be working on a bane story arc dealing with some of this - and some that 'turning' wasn't successful on.) -
Eh, I'll answer questions people toss out there in broadcast, regardless. Only get 'tired' of it if they're seeming to be deliberately dense - at which point it's easy enough to just wander into a mission.
The other day, of course, I ran across someone on a trial. Picked them up, brought them through a couple of missions, answered some questions, made sure (since I had to SK them) to get them somewhere they'd be safe logging in again when they had to go. -
Honestly... some people would never be happy, and it'd just be one more thing for certain people to try to point at for "dev favouritism" or whatnot. Som epeople, after all, make a huge stink over "omg you have a bunch of posts," or "you're part of PERC" or the like.
Besides, what place do we have to second-guess GM/CS actions? They're not always right, no - but that's why you can appeal them. -
Are you sure you didn't respec her instead of using the alt build?
-
Remember, it's not just a "shove stuff around" power, it's a to hit debuff. Shove something into a corner, and watch it flail uselessly at you and your henchmen.

The download will be a small (less than 1 Mb) launcher. You should find it... well, wherever you downloaded it to

Actually, let's start over.
Log into the PlayNC website. You should have had an account made there (your "master account.") When there, go to the tab that says "City of Heroes" on the side.
You should see your account informaiton, saying it's a trial. On the right side, you should see a link to download the PC client. (Assuming you're on a PC.)
Right click that, pick "Save target as..."
Change "Save in" from wherever it is (probably my documents or my downloads) to Desktop. Then tell it to save.
On your desktop, you'll have an icon that says COHUpdater.exe. Double click that. It will ask you for an installation directory. Leave it as whatever it has set, tell it ok, and wait - it will download the program files and install City of Heroes. When it's done, you can delete the COHUpdater from the desktop. You'll be using the City of Heroes icon insstead. -
Well, thing is... How interested was John Williams in Star Wars? He does orchestral scores for movies. He did give honest effort for it - and was picked for the others - but he hasn't lived his life around Star Wars scores.
I mean, just look at the list of what he's scored. He commits to a project, but if he's dedicated to anything, I'd say he's dedicated to *music.*
What you need is someone who can take your ideas and give them the form you want (and modify them as needed.) The dedication? That's nice - but you're not looking for players, you're looking for people to set up a presentation piece, concept art and the like so you can do what you need to to get this off the ground.
You know I support ya in this, mon ami, but in this case you do have to be practical and see it as a business.
Free might get you some nice things, but a commission (a few bad eggs aside, none of whom are in this forum by my experience) is treated as a business transaction, and will get dedication - after all, bad word of mouth = less business.
-
Two groups spawning how?
You can have battles, you can specify another group for patrols, bosses from another group -
For instance, I have an arc that, in one mission, has Tsoo facing Ghosts, and a COT mage as a hostage. Or one with Crey, some custom Hero Corps folks, and the clones of some of them.

Warhammer Online.

Montly subscription - $14.99.
If games OLDER than us don't lower the price below newer games, and games ALMOST as old as us don't - why should we, other than your whining?

if the rate wasn't so high i would keep my subscription going for a longer time. since its so high i will only subscribe for one more month before quiting.

The rate isn't "so high." Pay in larger blocks, and you pay less per month.

[u]Domination change[u]: I like how it sounds at the moment. I have some characters getting nerfed by it, but since I will be able to peak much higher from my always present Fulcrum Shift I find the nerf to be irrelevant.
[u]Psychic Shockwave change[u]: ...
[ QUOTE ]
I'm interested in seeing what he does wth Psy (as my 50 is Ice/Psy,) but overall, from what I've heard, it sounds positive for how I play.
[/ QUOTE ]
And there's the magic phrase right there. I know its far too early to be crying doom, though from what Castle has been posting the change sounds negative for how I play. No one's playstyle is more important than anyone else's, however Psionic Assault has been set up so that it lends itself to be played in a certain way. I can tell you I have both a Fire/Psi that lives in the midst of combat and a Gravity/Psi that leverages all of /Psi's abilities from range to melee and I can tell you that I love playing them both. I find neither to be 'better' than the other, but one is certainly more effective at farming.
[/ QUOTE ]
Think I should clarify that, as I think the intent of that statement got misread. It should be two statements:
1. I'm interested in what he has to do with Psy. Dead stop. ("Wait and see,") and
2. The dom buffs mentioned otherwise sound positive for how I play.
The first sentence of that paragraph I thought would lend more clarity to that. (Not calling foul on your post, mind you, just clarifying what I was saying.)
[ QUOTE ]
Was it a mistake in the numbers somewhere and they have just let it sit all this time?

I'm strongly suspecting this - it just hasn't come around to get fixed 'til now.
