That and /poison's so single-target focused... at least I could keep some sort of offense (or offensive debuffs) going. A buff set would, I'd think, be worse off if separated from the "boys" by TP Foe. I don't think I'd want to try it if I were, say, /thermal.

Not sure how that fight would play out with the current rules, either. Part of my advantage was the pseudo-hold from Neurotoxic Breath as well as my actual hold (think I had it at that point with that character,) but their duration in post-I13 PVP I couldn't say. (That character's currently just in the mid-upper 30s, too - been busy on other servers.)

    Edit:
Actually, that does illustrate one of the issues with saying "How does X do in PVP," or "How does X do vs Y?" Unlike - say - Aion, where you can pretty well say "A Ranger will do pretty well vs X, but look out for Y" with the only variable being gear (frigging runspeed...) you *can't* really give more than real generalities about most ATs here. For instance, yes, MMs in bodyguard mode are more vulnerable to AOE attacks (the pets getting both their share of the master's damage and a dose of their own, wiping them out faster,) but "separating them from the pets" will give different results by the secondary. My /poison could still hold off someone long enough for the pets to come in thanks to holds and debuffs, where a /thermal isn't going to do much but heal and (later) debuff some, a /FF at least has defense to get through and a bit of offense, etc. They'll all be different experiences.

I know my original (COH Collectors DVD) manual didn't have all that much on enhancements, mentioning 28 types and a bit of text on what to do (and which makes it sound like you drag the enhancement to the power - not "on the enhancement screen," just "to the power.")

Also, as a bit of a chuckle... the "updated" COV manual (look at the PDF,) while showing Arachnos soldiers and widows, still shows out of date, no longer existing enhancements. Well, one, at least. (Or rather two that were folded into one. Same list got copied over to the COH manual.) See who spots them. >.> (And who remembers the other two that got combined into what.)

/this. I can't say it's 100% coincidence - after all, NC bought COH (and created PS) when Cryptic started working on what was then the Marvel MMO, most likely out of a concern of conflict of interest (and the way the game had been languishing under the 15 person staff,) but it wasn't "CO's getting XYZ, we need it now" that did it. It was the game finally not being starved of manpower and funds for other games.

    SG Bases

Wouldn't mind the rename option. Don't think I'd use the move option, personally. Though I think:

    Quote:
The incentive not to abuse these options are automtically present. SG leaders aren't going to want to risk losing members so I don't think it's a system that will be abused.
is a little naiive on your part - of *course* it will.

Think this falls into "Nice idea, but not practical." Limit to one man/small SGs? What about the larger ones that want to do it? (for instance.) As far as "just tear it down and give back the prestige," there are two issues - again, more of a multi-person SG. What happens to non-base items (salvage and stored IOs/SOs) there, and the fact prestige is not an individual's but the group's.

Personally, I'd rather just see the exchange rate (INF to Prestige) updated - it was a lousy exchange rate in the beginning, when 50s people had been playing for a few issues didn't have anything to spend it on otherwise, and it's still a lousy exchange rate. But it would help to have THAT updated, so starting a new SG wouldn't have such a "start from scratch and slowly build up" feel.

    Server order

Pretty solidly "eh" on the suggestion. As an option, I don't see it hurting. Just keep the default as it is now (Last used on top, then least to most populated.)

    AE Suggestion

I'm reading through it and going... "Why?" Just seems like a lot of work for saying "Run my arc and I'll give you a whatever."

I'd be more for Mandu's idea if you want to give someone an award for running an arc (though maybe a "last 5 run" or something.)

MM's have always been the easiest, thanks to the TP Foe power we get, plus Grav Em and buffs from enemies
    *cough*

My zombies would like a word with you. (Though I have no idea how that would work now, pretty sure our "for fun" runs were pre-I13. Sheesh, been that long... must be, you weren't purpled before.)

Have to agree you'll mostly be using Nova. Dwarf's nice in the bit of mez protection (and buffing) - but if you have to get away, thanks to what PVP travel suppression does to TP, you won't be getting away. (Then again - mez protection post-I13... yeah.)

Did have a WS vs WS match with a friend of mine, though. Me, triform, him, human-only. Stay at range, he couldn't touch me. Drop to human (both shadow cloaked, etc.) and it was a question of whose stun took hold first. It was an... odd fight, with very little recharging being done.

I think they said we would never see dual pistols, graphics overhauling, new mastermind abilities, whips( sort of), never see Incarnates, new zones, etc, etc.
Jump to 2010 and now we are seeing things that were then impossible now made possible, so I do not believe it anymore developers. I do not believe a power or a skill set cannot be done or we will "never" see it in game because all the new stuff you said was impossible we now have. So with water zones, full dress(not skirt) robes, new stances, pole weapons and other suggested stuff I am stepping back and say....I can wait, because somehow it will make it in the game someday.
There are three different replies you're lumping in to "cannot be done" (or, "won't see it.")

    1. Cannot be done in a reasonable time, cost effectively, with current resources. Power Customization is the poster child for this - we were told "sure, it could - if we did it, you wouldn't see anything else for at least a year" at one point, back when the dev staff was 15 people. Give them more freedom, staff, and money, and they can work on it.

    2. Cannot be done with the current engine. Super speed running up walls. If they take the (extreme amount of) time to rewrite the engine, then maybe.

    3. Won't be done. Has nothing to do with tech or money, it just won't be done. Changing your primary and/or secondary they won't even look at (that aside from my strong belief it's more #2 - those, origin and AT are so fundamental to the character it'd break too much.) Water zones are another - BaB is very much against them from prior comments because of how difficult it'd be to get them to turn out decently, among other things.

Turn off the "I want/I don't want" filter and read the dev comments (when they comment) and you can normally figure out which it is - if they don't' say straight out.

As far as going on Training enhancements and not knowing about the rest, I COULD have gone with that back in the day when stores were "secret," but these days DO and SO stores are on the map. You need enhancements, find the $ sign of your origin, go to it and you'll notice it sells better enhancements. I mean, I found out about these things back in the day when the stores were "hidden" and I just ran across the Mutant store in Steel Canyon, finding out about DOs that way. There's really no reason to NOT find out about them when they're marked on the map. To boot, you get DOs and SOs for doing your own story arcs, so at least you will know they exist.
Also this. I'd say "Yes, the IO system can be complicated," but the enhancement system itself? Not really. As far as getting past DOs and outleveling enhancements in general, them "going red" seems pretty obvious - even before "real numbers" came into play so you could see you were suddenly doing 0% more damage/using less end/etc. And as far as learning there's "something else there," DOs and SOs start dropping. Look in the tray and go "Hey, wonder what that is, it looks different" and you've been introduced to the world of DOs and SOs.

Why? Continually bad experiences there, personally. Yes, I dip my toe back in over there on occasion and tend to find it hasn't changed (and yes, I do have a 50 "born and raised" there, pre-AE too.) Some good people? Sure. But for me, the bad experiences there far outweigh the good.

It's been enough of a consistent experience with Freedom that my Freedomite characters rank among my least played.

"Every server has bad players?" True. And every car manufacturer has problems. But which would you rather give your money to - the one that only has them once in a while, or the one that seems to issue an emergency recall every month because something ELSE fell off/doesn't fit/blew up?
  15. How do I feel about it?

"We have dual builds." That's how I feel about it. If your concern is "I prefer having some other power for soloing," hey, fine. Put it in your solo build. Skip as many team powers as you want there. But at least consider the second build that's a bit heavier on support if you plan on any decent amount of teaming. For instance, I have /Thermal, /Empathy, /FF and /Sonic builds that are VERY empty when it comes to the secondary ... on my solo build. The primary gives up some offense (and concept) to fit more team-friendly powers in.

Not saying it's "necessary" - I skip it as well at times (on some rad emission, poison, etc. characters) especially since we can combine insps - but I do point it out.

Riiight. Care to point them out? Or, more sepcifically, care to point out the ones *not directly related to PVP in the zones or arenas?* You know, like asking for *broken* things (Stalker placate, for instance) to be fixed? Or is a PVPer asking for things specifically related to issues in PVP to be fixed or altered verboten in your little entitled world?

The only "PVP suggestion" that would have ANY impact on PVE in any way shape or form that generally comes up is "open world PVP," and that gets shot down by pretty much everyone.

"They're not using it, I don't like them, there's not enough of them, take their stuff away." Wonderful attitude there. No, just SKing up everyone that PVPs to 50 would nto be a perfectly fine solution. Think about it for two (maybe three if you REALLY don't get why) seconds. Perhaps you'll figure it out. Do remember to whip that out when the badgers ask for changes as well... oh, wait, that's YOUR community and everything should be perfect for them regardless of numbers, right? Hypocrite.

I'd say "You'll understand if I get a bit pissed off at being told my community doesn't matter and should have things taken away," but I don't think you or your ilk do any longer.

    Razer death?

How long did you use it in Fedora? I've had cords start breaking (internally) just where they exit the mouse (or on that wonderful Microsoft design, where it's cranked around in a tight 90 degree curve with no strain relief, inside the mouse) and had them work "just fine" for a while, then flake out. (If there's any sort of light indicators on top of the mouse, such as for sensitivity, watch if they flicker out.)

Otherwise, if there's any related software/drivers, uninstall them and see if it behaves any better.

(Mouse history - MS optical mice, Logitech G7 - replaced, button weirdness, G5 - RMAd for a G500. I go through them more quickly than I'd like thanks to the cords.) I generally like logitech's mice, TBH.

Yeah, the other button should be fixed, admittedly, but I don't see "populate this potentially long list" as a workaround - and I'm not sure restricted names (Wolverine, etc. or filtered names) would show up on there.

Teleport to map location - The maps are 2d. The ground is 3d. That's the biggest issue there.

Superspeed - Why get rid of stealth - especially when it's one of the reasons people take it?

If we ever did it, we would make sure it works for everyone. I don't think any of you would like to see something haphazard, no matter how cool it could be.
I had to look at the date... "If we ever did it?" BP, you *DID* do it. (not personally.) "Jeeter clutch" and that phone thingy. Then nothing. The various directories and such are still in the client we all download, last I looked. ("Doublefusion." Yep, still there.)

Never saw player created "ads" there, either...

I agree it's hard to figure out what ads to put there, and how to make them fit it (it was *weird* seeing nice, shiny-new shoe ads in the middle of the destroyed, alternate-reality Dreck map, for instance.)

As far as real-world stuff, we know COH (and other NC games) have shown up as "product placement" in a few shows (whether that's an NC setup or the show....) "Swag" in the store has been asked for many times. And there has been past consternation that there's been no sight of City advertising in the spate of superhero movies the past few years - though that is likely a money question.

Spectral Terror is rooted in place. But it recharges quickly.
Phantom Army, while unkillable, is also somewhat short duration, making many Ill/ controllers end up slotting and IOing out for recharge.

(Will also point out it's my least favourite controller set. Can't stand the thing.)

    As for the OP -
The MM sets play differently. Bots/Traps has been around a while. All the pets are ranged (though they seem to like running in to swat at things.) By comparison, Ninja is more melee-oriented. Most of the others have some mix. Personally, my most played/favourite are thugs/poison and my necro/poison.

Yeah, this is one place test should be (somewhat) different - though I'd say the "manually stock the market" would probably be the better approach.

After all, when we get to GR beta'ing (still have to test Electric Control and Kinetic Melee, as well as just *base* ideas on how easy/tough new enemies are,) a base performance as opposed to "this is how it looks when IO'd to the gills" is more important - and seeing afterward how insane it could be when you ARE IO'd to the gills would help, too. (And then of course there's "trying out newly released sets.")
