Quote:I tend to use the dropdown list - so the mask pattern being available by "back arrow' I'd completely forgotten about. Still, it's not intuitive looking at the list - if I pick "Alpha" for instance, I'd still expect Alpha (mask) to be the automatic selection, or at least first after None.Dunno if you've noticed, but the list wraps around - so if you're at the first item, pressing the left arrow takes you to the last one. That's what I always use to get to the Veteran emblems and physical chestpieces, and the mask pattern.
... that'd be my corruptor, Keres Mot. Was somewhat surprised to see that pop up in the thread on its own.Quote:(Giant image! Thanks for the picture, by the way. Although I'm not sure who I'm thanking.)

Last time I did a survey, I was close to even. But I have to say I'll tend to make female for one reason - and no, it's not the "watching someone's butt" bit (pixels don't do it for me, sorry.) Unless you get the sliders just right, male characters seem to run like they've got cement shoes or something. It's just very clumsy and irritating looking. Ninja Run helps this, as do travel powers, but.... oy, it's just distractingly bad.

Quote:"Alloy." Same sort of theme, named differently.Good point. The Metallic set is something I'd like to deal with separately, but to weigh in really quickly: I agree that a certain look and feel is missing now, and we'd like to put that back for you but probably under a different name. I think 'new' Metallic is truer to the concept of an all-chrome character, but I understand that you'd like a mix-n-match plainer version as well. Totally understood.
I know this isn't *precisely* your department, but since you're talking about "Do you want us to keep the old options," can we have you pester the interface folks about a few things?
1. Break up the chest symbols list into sub-categories. Yes, I have packs and vet stuff. I have over 7 screenfuls of 35 items a piece. 245 items (and a few stragglers.) That's a LONG list to scroll through if I want to get to, say, the Circle of Thorns or Vindicator logo, or a "physical" chest piece like Vanguard armor. This REALLY needs doing. Other longer lists should be like this as well. If I want the alphabet itself or a number, put those into lists. The vet greek letters? Their own list. Yes, it's more subcategries. Yes, it means when I go to the tailor my old outfits are "broken," as happens with every rearrangement. But it would be a HUGE QOL thing for these long freaking lists!
2. For pieces that have a mask (armor plate, alpha, flak jacket, etc.) have that mask FIRST on the list, not last! Especially with a long list of patterns!
3. Some of these ... I have to say, really don't need to be "saved." Female stripes (I think it is) - look at the side, and they don't match up. I don't mean by a pixel or two, but by half the "costume piece." They look absolutely horrible. But for the most part... I'd take option 2, where possible, preserve the old pieces. (Part of why I put in point 1.) I just can't put up, very often, with a "paint on skin" pattern mixed with a nice, newer item. I have to, on occasion, but I miss hems, depth, texture and the like. On the other hand, there are places where it just fits, and I'd hate to have that vanish.
4 (Wish list item) Could we get a variety of textures - and have them match, so all the "sleek" look the same, as well as a less-sleek and matte?
5. (Wish list item) Could we, possibly, get some conformity on points where, say, side stripes or side details match up? Some are REALLY close, but need a belt to hide the "step" where they meet. -
I'm assuming it shows properly on the demonlings?

As I recall the explanation, there are two types of "fly" an NPC could have.
One is like your fly, and -fly will work perfectly fine on it.
The other is basically them sitting on an invisible "column." No -fly will affect it. (Remember heroclix? Yeah. These are like that. They've got a giant clear plastic rod stuck up their nethers, essentially.) -
Any Illusion controller. I've got a few I loved the concepts on. HATE the set.
Same with VEATs. Few that would work nicely, concept wise. Cannot stand playing them. Especially the exceptionally irritating "Must slog to 24 before you can actually be what you rolled in the first place."
If I have my sound on or headphones on, sonic blast. -
Right. Slows. There's no "Recharge debuff" set. Every Warshade attack, however, can take and is slottable with slow sets.
-
Extracted Essence. I think I made the comments in Dechs' guide, but off the top of my head, you can use IO sets for:
Ranged damage
Targeted AOE
Melee damage
PBAOE
ToHit buff
Slow
Pet damage
Recharge intensive pets
Resistance
Healing
Travel
Endmod
Stuns
Holds
Immobilize
Defense (Shadow Cloak)
... and probably a couple I'm missing, depending on what powers/forms you take. Without dipping into pools. -
Thugs/Dark was not fun. I finally dialed it down. Doms can be troublesome. I have yet to try it on a stalker, but since I'm pretty sure they auto-aggro, the process would probably go "Exit mission, reenter, eat purples/yellow, AS, exit, enter, rinse, repeat."

<nitpick>Toes the line. Not tows. Toes. (Sorry, that just drives me up the wall.) "Tows" the line would be dragging it behind you. Toe the Line means just that - stand directly at, not over, not behind, a specific line. I believe the reference *tends* to be military, boot-camp-ish, though I've seen similar things at school - everyone line up, toe the line and pay attention to what you're being told.
(This isn't "pick on Bionic Flea," either. I see this constantly. It, along with "could care less," "for all intensive purposes" and a few others just bug me.)
</nitpick>
As far as lack of communication? They've been a touch busy with GR, and I20 sounds like it's big, so I wouldn't really expect as much chattiness as we've gotten used to for a while.
That said, yes, some feedback on things like the reaction to the party pack would be good. And waaaaaaaaay back when, we were supposedly getting "section reps" or "AT reps." I think we got one, perhaps two, for a week or so. -
Y'know... looking at the "glass tunnels" and talking about flooding, that could be an interesting (if technically possible or not) mission setting -quite possibly for a non combat mission as well.
- Do nothing and seal the tunnel. Less XP, innocents dead, long way around to the other part of the base.
- Seal the breech. (Depending on powersets, possibly having a temp power to do so as well. Interesting use of laser beam eyes?)
- Save the people inside (unconscious) before the tunnel floods. Save them, but the bad guy escapes you.
- Blow the tunnel breach wider. Kills the bad guy, as well as the innocents, and your contacts - well, you'll have to find what's going on on your own. They're NOT happy with you.
... or something like that. -
Reading list:
Dechs' The MF Warshade - no build but good to read to get an idea of running triform.
AlienOne's "Complete" guide to Human form Warshades.
As a Warshade, you've got a WIDE range of sets to pick from, from the obvious damages and resists to pets, slows, stuns and the like. Narrowing down what you're looking for would help. But read those first. -
Really depends on the characters. Stalkers? Loosening up builds. Kinetics? Who needs Stamina? My Fire/ tanks will be happier overall. I'll have to watch a build or two I didn't take Stamina on, but snagged Fitness for Sprint or Hurdle.
-
Same here. And it's not an auto-logout. I can leave the boards up overnight while I'm asleep, come in and be perfectly fine with reading what's going on. And other times I'll be logged out going between posts.

Quote:Need? No. More convenient for some? Yes.So you say there's places you need to buy temp powers to get there even when you have SS, a teir 2 travel power. Id say that's a problem right there.
Grandville has elevators, for one - and they're (finally) marked on the map. The Shard has gravity geysers (with their paths marked on the map.) Some people don't "get" those. Which is why the jetpack vendors are there.
I'm not even sure what you're trying to say here. That because I have poison, it's hard to rationalize having fly because I have poison?Quote:Sure there are sets tehy can be argued to have flying powers. There are alot, around 1/2 the sets that are hard to rationalize like alot of melee sets. Sets like poison, dark, etc. unless you start changing the original concept alot.
You've heard of bees and wasps, right? Flying insects that inject you with a toxin (venom) when they sting?
Game-wise, one of my oldest Scrappers is a Spines/ (has Toxic damage) scrapper. He flies. Why? He comes from a technologically advanced civilization, was part of an organization that was a bit of a mix of police, military and bounty hunter, and being able to fly made their jobs easier. No ropes to haul around to get up somewhere. Wow, that was difficult. Reeeeeally had to change that concept... no, wait.
That because I have dark powers, it makes it hard to say why I have fly? (Especially since, the way the game's description goes, I'm pulling my powers from another dimension - I've got the power to do that, but hey, flying's too hard?) -
Quote:... which, in the end, is really where you want to be - playing a character you enjoy.Overall, Im happy. Im bummed out that the Ultimate Forms concept fell to the wayside, but Im way more satisfied with what my Peacebringer can do.
I'd call it a win, even if the original plan fizzled. -
... ouch. Nice (or not so nice) catch.
-
Haven't run that one yet. Is this the nav info to get TO the mission, or a nav point inside the mission?
-
Thanks, Dechs...
.... and did I really say leadership is becoming inherent. Gah. Brain no work. Brain replaced with cheerios. Brain soggy from sitting in milk. And yeah, need to tweak those sections about taking stamina. Frigging announcements, can't they do them *before* I start actually writing?
Cosmic balance is... one of those other things (like binds) I had in mind while writing and promptly forgot to put in. >.< More editing! But that's why I threw it here for comment first.
Thanks!
Edit: Cosmic Balance added, Leadership changed to Fitness, and I think all Stamina references updated (from if to when, really.) -
Well, low power - I think they've just started into dual core chips (or some were recently announced.) Typically low RAM (1 Gb seems common, some may come with more.) Windows 7 Starter is limited (IIRC) to running up to four apps at once. (It can be given an in place upgrade to any other version, though - I'd recommend more RAM before doing so.)
Personally, I tend to find them too small to use. Mostly the keyboard - I have yet to find one I feel comfortable typing on without my fingers getting tied together trying.
Edit: Quick wikipedia rundown on win7 editions. -
My stalkers are planning to throw a party for their newly loosened up build choices.

We've had dark control (and assault) sets suggested before - including by me.
... so obviously, yeah, I'd love to see it.

Eliminating DOs eliminates both a training and a profit step.
If you went straight from TOs to SOs, I'd say you'd confuse new people MORE. Why? Because for 22-25 levels, they'd be able to slot anything and everything that drops. Then, suddenly - *wham* "Why can't I slot this? What do these rings mean?"
DOs are more powerful than TOs, but trade off for a slight restriction on who can use them (by origin.) However, by having the dual origins, more people CAN use them when they do drop. And they get used to the origin coding.
I do agree that the stores need a filter, however. -
Oh, by the way - you think his reaction HERE to criticism is bad (not to mention his refusal to learn?) You should see his Youtube channel's comments. Talk about total unwillingness to even CONSIDER that he's wrong about things. I'm agreeing this is nothing more than a troll thread. Someone check and see if he works for Cryptic.
