Air Superiority...

When did it stop doing -fly? I've been pounding longbow Eagles with it, they flip then fly away. Did I miss a patch note?

As far as I know it still does -fly. It's one of the key aspects of the power, so I can't see them removing it, except maybe as a bug if they were making some other change to it.

Perhaps Eagles have a high enough magnitude to their fly that Air Superiority isn't enough -fly to bring them down? Someone has to know the numbers...

Did they actually gain altitude or did they just zip away at ground level? I don't think they actually ever touch the ground, just like the Rularuu eyeballs. They'll fall, but there's always a gap between them and the ground.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Even conning, level 32 and yellow level 33 Eagles. I am playing a 32 Blaster so they die anyway, but there are instances that they do not lose altitude, they are just flipping and and still flying. Yes they do gain altitude and speed.

Were you in a mayhem mission? I have never in all time since they added mayhem missions been able to knock one of the Eagles that spawn from the "Eagle Death Squad" to drop.

Nope, doing alignment missions

It may be certain types of Eagles that have this situation (or it may be tied to certain types of missions). Some of the time, though, you have Eagles that you just can't bring down. Either they have a much higher flly mag or they have something weird going on, like the Mitos on their invisible pedestals.

As I recall the explanation, there are two types of "fly" an NPC could have.

One is like your fly, and -fly will work perfectly fine on it.

The other is basically them sitting on an invisible "column." No -fly will affect it. (Remember heroclix? Yeah. These are like that. They've got a giant clear plastic rod stuck up their nethers, essentially.)

Well, sort of.

Years ago, when people complained about Longbow Eagles not falling to Air Sup in Mayhem Missions, one of the devs said that instead of being given the fly power the mission designer had instead "set them to always fly in the mission/zone rules", or words to that effect.

They then went on to say they'd look into it. That was before Issue 9. Now with Issue 19 coming up, not only have they not looked into it, but it appears that they've propagated this error from those missions to the Alignment Missions. Excellent work there!

You'd think they'd eventually hire someone to take notes and keep their [censored] straight. I guess that'd make too much sense.

P.S. Positron: I'm still waiting for you to add the bank missions from both sides to the Ouroborus Portal, like you said you were going to.

They haven't propagated anything. It happens for critters that spawn already flying, since it's pretty much the only way to make them chase you down in the air. If you just gave them the Fly power, they might hover around a bit, but mostly they'd just run up to you until you tried flying away.

The issue isn't that the devs are lazy, it's that the critters are -- they'll only fly to you if you're the one flying.
