So, I'm running the Incarnate mission again. Pull up my En/En brute, who hasn't respecced into inherent fitness yet. Figure it's probably a good time to do so - but, of course, it's time to check the build, figure where those powers or slots are coming from.
And at the bottom of the pool/PPP page, I see this:

Which itself is amusing - but my first thought is, "Hmm. Wonder if that would work as a character name."
.... frigging altitis. -
Quote:The ones I'm looking at (in order)Since I mainly play in all human form I was thinking that the Spiritual Alpha slot would be nice. I want the speed bonuses for quicker attacks and self buffing, the increased healing, and the to hit. I also want the Musculature for extra damage and defense debuff. What Alpha Slots are you thinking for your PB?
Voidbane, Human-only:
Cardiac Radial Boost - The END discount and extra Resist outside Light form (having Incandescence, Shining, Quantum and Tough, but none fully slotted) would be useful. Attacks are already at ED limits for damage.
Cardiac Partial Core Revamp - To get that and range.
Cardiace Core Paragon - For the extra bit that bypasses ED.
Musculature Radial Boost - Damage is already at ED. This, however, adds some Defense debuff.
For my triforms, it's a tossup between going Cardiac Core Boost - Total core revamp - Partial core revamp - then of course Core Paragon, to add range, or the Musculature Radial boost for the same def. debuff reasons. I'm not really paying as much attention to Spiritual, as I think I recharge fast enough in most cases, and I'm completely ignoring Nerve. -
I'm suspecting if you had some sort of "debugging" flag or build, those buttons would do more. You checked the COH executable - did you see any new or interesting log/data/debug files anywhere that aren't on the others? That value change as you do anything?
I'm really curious about what this does now.

Should probably add in the "Raising a peacebringer" guide (in the sig as "peacebringer" - frigging sig editor.)

Quote:So why are you still here? You're just going to cry and keep dropping it without ever trying it again, from the sound of it. Solutions may be irrelevant to YOU, but others that see this and read through may actually decide to *learn,* unlike you, and see that yes, this IS doable with any AT.Hey I admited my mistake fairly early on in the post.
I had already dropped it before i made the post, I just forgot to mention that in the original post.
So solutions were irrelevant at that point.
And Yes Im sure I am the only one who is having this problem, keep telling yourself that.
And yet, you *ignore* the fact that all these squishies - who you say will find this impossible to beat - beat it quite easily. That Honoree's "insane accuracy that hits through purples" doesn't, and has been proven not to (past the 5% chance they'll always get) by multiple people. -

Quote:/this. Though you, Shubbie, don't want to hear it and refuse to listen.Well, it's just that this part: "it don't matter what you bring, blues, purples, temp powers.... you have no chance whatsoever, doesn't matter if you run it one time or fifty times - you're not going to be able to complete it." is, to put it simply, wrong.
There's no other way to really put it. Saying that X/X CANNOT do this is wrong. It can and we'll show you how.
So far, just MY listing of who's done this without problems:
Fire/SS tank
Fire/EM tank
Thugs/Poison MM
Those three, obviously, shouldn't have issues no matter who you ask. Then we get to:
Earth/FF Controller
Ice/Emp Controller
Rad/Rad Defender
Warshade
Elec/Elec Blaster
This:
is complete and utter BS. Unsurprising, given the source, but still. Though I did find this laughable:Quote:I think one thing that annoys me about all this is that some ATs can do all this, no problem. Others.... it don't matter what you bring, blues, purples, temp powers.... you have no chance whatsoever, doesn't matter if you run it one time or fifty times - you're not going to be able to complete it. This can be a big problem on servers with low redside populations.
"It wears off in 15 seconds?" Oh no! Not like it's recharged well before that and can be reapplied or anything. Nope. Can only use each power once.Quote:Trapdoor can also one-shot with the best of 'em. He is REALLY resistant to Char, too. If it hits it wears off in about 15 seconds. -
Quote:And you need more than 3 why? You need *3* why?I pointed this out at the begining of the thread please try to actually read a little of the thread before commenting.
I could not get a team together because its not cross faction and every time I got a villian another would leave to go drop the mission, I never got over 3 people.
"Form a team" does not mean "Get a min/maxed team of 8 together." -
-
Quote:Or: Just wait a month until the rush of 50s doing the initial Incarnate mission is done. This, so far, has been the only time I've seen this be a problem. Otherwise, maybe two (at max) people just standing around for more than a few seconds. This would be the main reason I would /sign against this idea.
I understand the concern the Stormfront_NA is talking about, but frankly in the several years Ouroboros has been around I've only seen the area congested by AFK people a few times. I'd rather preserve the speedy travel capability of the way it works now than to try to "solve" a problem (or really a slight annoyance) that only happens once in a very long while.
This basically seems like a solution looking for a big enough problem to justify it.
Actually - give them other things to do. Add a Wentworths/BM Mender off to one side.

Quote:Impeded Swiftness: Chance for Smashing Damage. One useful proc would really kick the slow-toggle powers into gear and immensely increase their utility.
... well, you DID say "one." There's also a "Chance for recharge slow," but that's pretty useless in Ice Control (where everything does that, for the most part.) Minor defense buff to melee (2.5) and s/l (1.8) with that six slotted...
.. yeah. Slow (along with snipes, I'd say, among one or two others) I don't think they really figured out what they wanted to do with. I don't think we need a bonus to slow, since slows stack very noticeably and easily. And a good set would fit most of the ATs in game (except... what, masterminds - wait, no, they have storm. Everything but Peacebringers, Scrappers and Brutes, maybe Soldiers as well? Actually - no, everything but peacebringers, as I'm reasonably sure the others could use it in their APP/PPPs, and warshades do slows with every attack.)
So... cooking up a good "Slow-slottable Damage set" wouldn't hurt. Two, actually, one with Damage as part of the set and bonuses, one with a Damage proc and perhaps small damage set bonus. -
I have never seen that before - any particular key combo or action bring it up, or does it "just show up?"
(Doesn't show up with /screenshotui 1 either?)
You don't start COH with anything but the launcher? Does it ever appear on test (if you use that?)
Does your computer ever ask in a bad-80s-computer-voice "Would you like to play a game?" -
Adding:
One Ice/Emp controller.
Deaths to Honoree: 1 (User error. I hit F2 instead of F3, burning my breakfree instead of CaB, so I didn't have it vs him.)
He's hold resistant, sure... but not immob resistant. No flying for him, and he wasn't able to get in range to use his more damaging melee attacks... and he missed constantly, so no, he doesn't - again - hit through lucks. Or a Fortitude'd Jack Frost.) -
I pronounce mine "Which-one-do-I-want-to-play-now" most times.
Go Altitis.

Quote:I'm going to be blunt here. You're wrong. He does not "hit you through purples." He does not "stun you through breakfrees." I've used them each and every time I've run this arc. And I seem to recall getting a hold on him, though I'm not going to swear to that. he can definitely be slowed. The problem is honoree has stupidly high acc, a stupidly high hold, insane amounts of hold resistance, and he does enough damage to 2 shot squishies.
Okie this leads to the problem, he will hit you right through purples, stun you right through break free's and 2 hit anyone without high resistances, also he is darn near unholdable.
Stay at range, kite him, use insps. I say this because it works. Not because I'm playing with uber-leet-super-purpled-IO'd-out builds. (Just did this with my Warshade, btw - loved that last room.) If he could have "hit through purples," he would have hit me mutiple times. If he could stun through breakfrees, he would have.
He didn't. Any of the times I ran it.
Or maybe the player is facing the wrong way and rolling the ball at the concessions stand, then stomping off and insisting the game's too hard. Which is what you sound like at this point. People try to turn you around and point you at the pins, and you throw it at the ceiling. Not the ball's fault, or the alley or the pins.Quote:But this is bowling where the player is depending on powerset given a lopsided ball and asked to knock down one pin while blindfolded.
Or given a ball that takes up the entire lane and cant possibly miss. -
Quote:/this.Seriously...
It was bugged, they fixed it... It was not due to any players complaining about it.
*shrugs*
Seriously, do people REALLY think that the only way things get changed - and *fixed* - is from the devs combing through the forums to see what people talk about? If that were the case, PVP would have been revised again since I13.
Personally, I'm wondering if this fixed ALL the ambushes like this - like the one Praetorian one (can't recall faction right offhand - Resistance Warden, I believe) that piled five TEST ambushes *right* outside the door where the person you were supposed to find was imprisoned. (And this is not a "use inspirations" - end of the mission, ALL FIVE ambushes at once, spawning directly outside the door, no reasonable way to avoid them, on a level 17 or so - Dom, in my case.)
If it means that missions like that are fixed? Even better. Those of you who want a pile of malta can turn UP your settings. (Edit: And for those trying to make a comparison to the Honoree thread, well, this isn't a matter of "You will face EBs or AVs, bring friends." This was a bugged mission, like it or not, and it got fixed, like it or not. The two are not the same.) -
Quote:/this.If the players thought the mission was too difficult then they should LOWER their difficulty setting. DUH! I never found that mission to be too difficult.
Had problems with it the first time... because I was still set pretty high, and ended up getting my solo butt swarmed by Malta. Those settings with ambushes coming right on each others heels? Just bad news. Drop the setting a little and it's cake.
I can see it being an issue with teams, though, perhaps, as mentioned earlier, so I'm not complaining. -
Quote:/This.The take-away message I would hope people are getting from the posts by folks who are saying they've done it is not, "Ha ha, I can do this and you can't," but rather, "This is doable. Don't give up the ship."
-Gate
Seriously. If anyone pointed at me and said I was some "elite" player, I'd have to laugh at them. I'd point at - depending on the situation - Arcanaville for knowing all the "behind the scenes" stuff, or someone like BillZBubba. If BZB came in here and said he soloed both on AV +4/X8 on his main, my reaction would be "And that proves?"
Yes, there are people who push what an AT or powerset "can" do - defenders/controllers/etc soloing pylons or whatnot. I'm not one of them. My builds aren't really "planned," they're not generally IO'd out (past commons,) and I don't have "madd COH skillz" or whatever it is these days. Yet I'm doing these, and not generally on "Easy to solo" ATs. I've pointed out what I do so others who are having trouble can compare, then prepare (IE, if you're having a hard time soloing, don't do it on +3-+4, 0/1 or even -1/1 is just fine, grab inspirations, etc.) and go do it yourself. -
Quote:What was its recharge before all the AOEs were smacked down years ago? Did it get hit then?I agree about Gravity. I think it's in much worse shape than Ice. I think what Ice needs is a "love tap." Gravity needs to get smacked with a 2 by 4.
What's weird about Shiver is it's a shared power with Blasters. For some reason the Blaster version recharges in 12 seconds and the Controller/Dominator version in 30 seconds. The reason for this is one of the great mysteries I've never been able to solve about this game. Given the already strange recharge ratio, it wouldn't be totally off the table to me to split off Shiver into a totally new power for Ice Control. Keep the current effect, add something new to it to justify its longer Recharge. I agree that -Damage would be appropriate. Another option is to make it a much weaker, unstackable AoE Benumb with perhaps a -15% to all effect.
(And gravity really just needs Propel speeded up, IMHO. Perhaps the initial animation for Wormhole, as well. I've gotten to where I just don't take Propel, or put it off - by the time I've finished animating my lamp post, computer, etc. either the team has finished that mob, the one beyond it, and the one past that, or the target has died of old age.) -
If there ever is, it'll show up in Announcements. Right now, no.

Quote:"Challenge?" What challenge did I put forth? Did I say "Solo this without using XYZ and only Brawl in 5 minutes?" No. "Challenge" is "Solo a pylon," or the RWZ challenge, or "Solo a GM/every GM." This is nothing close to that. You forgot Answer C: Play a character that is naturally a good soloist, which is at least 50% of the reason some people can solo stuff and others can't. Yes, those powers and numbers DO mean something. I can solo this mission with some characters and not others. Does that mean I'm a good player sometimes and should quit playing others until I can satisfy your challenge?
As far as "with a good soloist" - You've seen what I've said I've done this with, right? So far:
Earth/FF Controller
Rad/Rad Defender (on my "team" setting, so less offense)
Elec/Elec blaster (first 50 from way back in I3-I4, and not played constantly or IO'd out)
Fire/SS Tank.
Newest - Thugs/Poison MM.
So I have two decidedly *slow* soloists, what's generally considered one of the weakest blasters, and two "good" soloists. The difference? Tactics. I don't attack it the same way each time. Yes, I still pull them out of the room (don't want to have to deal with the Rikti,) but my toe-to-toe fight with my Tanker had to be handled differently than running around with my Rad/Rad, or the pet management of my Thugs/Poison. (Which was actually the most difficult - not in the fight, but in keeping them from running in and aggroing things before I was ready mid-fight.)
So that "good soloists" line is bunk.
Way to miss the point there, Sam.Quote:Originally Posted by Samuel_TowAnd on the topic of trying to be Eric Clapton: I don't get paid nearly enough to play this game that I'd want to abandon the fun and become a professional. This is neither a job nor a sport and should not be treated as either.
Do you pick up a hobby and expect to immediately be an expert woodworker, or musician, or painter, writer, ice sculptor, ballet dancer or whatnot? No. But, gee, you *put time into it.* Imagine that. Do you ***** that you have to treat your hobby "like a job" to be any good at it? Do you expect to get better as you play? You know, doing things like learning from your mistakes and doing better on your next attempt?
Do you expect anyone to pay you to do so, or to quit your job to become a better painter/musician/writer/stamp collector? No?
Then don't use that BS as a response to this. -
What makes a good incarnate? This!

We just had one, however. link. And they can't have two events running at once.
Doesn't preclude invasions from LGTF, IIRC, but as an event, no go with the winter event coming. -
No. No word and no particular need.
APPs are meant to fill in gaps in the primary/secondary. Tanks get control and ranged blasts. Scrappers get range. Blasters get resistance (typically) shields, control and some utility. Controllers get ranged attacks and shields, and so forth.
Khelds already have resistance, ranged attacks, melee attacks, control, built in travel powers, optional mez resistance in Dwarf - there's nothing there to particularly "fill in" that's not already covered or available in a regular power pool (team buff = leadership, for instance.)
