Stealth vs Rikti Drones

How do you ghost past a rikti drone if you only have the pool power invis? I've tried stealth and invisibility and with a stealth IO into the mix too but they always see me and hurt me bad.

Is there any way of getting past them if you're not a stalker/illusionist?

They ignore any amount of stealth so your best bet is to just run/fly/jump by them as fast as possible.

pop some lucks and swift through them with super speed...

before respecing amartia, pff was a handy tool to run through rikti drones and snipers... i know that you play mostly trollers , so u can pick it up from a patron pool (can't recall wich one atm)

Not anymore. They removed PFF from Controller Patron pools because /Force Field Controllers would be able to double up on it if they left it in.

But yeah, Rikti Drones ignore stealth completely. Upside is, they don't have any more perception than normal mobs, so if you stay 50 feet away from them they won't agro on you.

Snipers are somewhat different. They have gobs of perception (149 feet IIRC), but stealth affects them normally. But with the higher perception they still might see you if you get too close with just stealth and not full invisibility.

They're also susceptible to -perception. If you have access to Flash Arrow, Smoke Grenade, or Smoke it's actually pretty easy to ghost past them. Of course, if the point is to speed through a mission, it doesn't really help because this will slow you down.

You can get a temp power version of Smoke Grenade, but AFAIK their lack of availability and low number of charges means they aren't that useful for ghosting entire missions. You can get them in Siren's Call if you're fighting for the redside and villains are in full control of the zone. That's 10 uses. You can also get one version by doing the Vault and Arachnos base day jobs.

Stalkers are seen by drones as well. If you're playing a stalker and want to get by without being seen, Placate the drone before it aggros. It won't break hide and lets you get past unseen. Of course, that only works if there is only one drone in the group of enemies.

Yep, that was what I was going to say. I played my Stalker last night in a Rikti mission and was seen by the drones every time.

I just opened with a Critical on a regular attack instead of an Assassin Strike, and I could usually approach without being seen, but get into melee (even with another foe in the spawn) and they'll see you. It is fun to finish off all the other foes with normal attacks though, Placate the Drone and then AS him. "Sure you saw me, but it didn't do you any good!"

I like to use a jet pack (or fly power) and go along the roof over them. Usually works.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Not sure about this, but wouldn't smoke/smoke grenade/flash arrow help particularly well? This would reduce the normal perception drones have, making a certain level faux stealth against them if it works.

...Or my favorite is to confuse/sleep them, but that requires mind control.

Run a patrol in Warburg (30+) and you'll get the Hyper Phase power. 30 minutes use, like all phase powers a 30 second duration. Phase without burning power picks.

Or, as mentioned, use the recipe.

As Gilia said, Force Field Controllers get PFF. As for the wiki, well it's not infallible, sometimes no one remembers to update a particular page when the patch notes come out.

Another option is to cap your Energy and/or Ranged Defense. Eating a bunch of purples (as mentioned above) will do this, or it can be done with sets and/or power picks. If they attack you, the rest of their group will aggro on you, but if they don't actually hit, your stealth won't suppress, and nobody else will attack you (unless they also have drones).

Another thing to consider: Rikti Drones ignore stealth, but they still have to be looking at you. If you can get behind them, they won't agro on you because they do not have a 360 degree field of vision.

I have stood directly behind one on my stalker before and it never saw me until it turned around, so the direction it is facing does have an effect.

This is true for most mobs - getting behind them is good.

As others have mentioned, skimming the roof or the side walls is often enough
distance to get by them, and if you're quick, you can be downrange before
they get off more than 1 shot, or alert their buddies.

As long as you don't shoot back (or have a taunt aura - learned that the
hard way with RttC on my Brute ), they won't give chase if you get
out of range quickly.

Another option (assuming you aren't a squishy on x8 where you might get killed by mass fire) is to just hit your fastest travel power and run / fly / whatever past them. They'll shoot at you, but as long as you don't attack back they'll lose interest after a few dozen feet. Obviously this doesn't help if they're near a glowie you need, but if you just want to pass them it works fine.

You can also just use Teleport, provided you can see far enough past them to reappear outside of their sight range.
