Make up your mind. Do you want to speak specifically about Triumph, or everything but Freedumb and Virtue? Do you play anywhere BUT Triumph? If not, drop the "Most servers" bit, because your experience *is not true* for me when I'm server hopping at off hours.

And again, it's not "the entire server channel," it's "one of the popular channels." That doesn't' mean everyone knows about it, or that all of those that know about it use it. As I said, I play on *every* server, I do not have the "server channels" set up - anyone trying to recruit via there is not going to see/hear from me, and like it or not, that will be the case for most people.
    Besides,

Everyone also knows that by about midnight, there aren't enough people on the server to get much of anything going, and they are sad about it. That's not good population.
"Everyone" does? You've made it a personal mission to tell each and every character on that server about this channel (unnamed in this post?)

Funny. I don't recall getting any sort of message from you on it. Or anyone else.

Maybe "Everybody on the Triumph section of the boards knows about it." I could possibly believe that. But "Everybody?" No.

And "Knows about" does nto mean "Uses." I'm on every server. If I put up all my SG channels and all these "Everyone knows" channels, I couldn't fit them all.

Look, it doesn't do anyone - especially not NCSoft/Paragon - any good to try and cloud the issue. Most servers are dead with the exception of a few hours in prime time.
And this is an unmitigated load of horse manure. I typically *play* on those "low pop" servers, with the occasional foray to Virtue (cannot STAND Freedom, but even show up there on rare occasion.) I also, outside of weekends, don't tend to play in "prime time," working 'til midnight, or playing before work in the early, early afternoon. And yet... no problem finding teams, and i regularly get tells asking for them (which, at 2 AM, I'll tend to decline unless I'll actually be awake for a while.)

No, it's not name recognition. I haven't had a "Hey, aren't you" tell on one of my MBs for... eh, nearly a year. And I have over 200 alts, and two accounts. (That aside from how small the forum population is compared to the rest of the game.) And even within the forum population - I've gone unrecognized on test until I mentioned my main, I teamed with Doctor Vivian not too long ago and I'd bet she has no idea (still) about that... the only answer is that "teaming is not difficult, even on "dead" servers and off prime time, unless you're Cambios."
  3. Two accounts. I don't really do anything special. Rares (typically) go into SG storage, much-used items (Luck Charms, for instance) in another, the rest I don't generally have to worry about. It's more recipes (X has this, I know Y can use it, gleemail it) that they come in handy with.

Well, phase *powers* have a 30 second timer on them. I'd bet a phase "state" that gets applied when you zone in could have something similar done. Not sure about the "drop on move," though.

Solo you'll have a constant 73.75% damage buff with Assault, Vigilance and perma-AM. Add Aim when it's up for another 50% and you're sitting at roughly 123.75% damage buff.
Of course, if you fight anything that commonly debuffs perception or goes all stealthy-like (*cough*Arachnos*cough) Tactics is the better bet for you and your team. IMHO, of course.
  6. poking through a bit -

Move the endrdx out of the shields. They look overslotted to me.
Endmod in dwarf... remove, or better yet, run some candy canes while they're available and get the Winter's Gift 20% slow resist IO. Every bit helps.

And pretty much what Flea said.
  7. How to make inflation a non-issue:

Auto-fill everyone's current INF to the 2 billion cap, and leave it there. All items will then *also* cost 2 billion, because it just won't matter. You'll bid, win, and instantly have 2 billion back. Admittedly you won't be able to claim your INF from the market, but we can just let the "sold" listing disappear... you'll have 2 billion anyway.

    Too much?

Then use the market for what you want, or use AE, or wait for drops, or use A-merits. Use the alternate means provided. Might take more time than putting down a GetItNao price, yes.

(And yes, I *do* do this. If I think (insert piece of common salvage) is too high here - and when I'm seeing them at 50-100k each, and lower bids are *not* being filled, I think it is,) I run a short AE arc and burn the rolls on common salvage at the level I need. Get the part(s) I need, use some of the rest, dump the others for 5 inf a piece.)

  10. Not against it - I'd just rather see one of the other, anciently mentioned EATs come out first. The Rikti storyline is covered pretty thoroughly already, after all. Between the Red Coral missions, Incarnates and all the little hints and bits and pieces in the game, I'd like to see the Coralax EAT come to tie all that together.
  11. Crowd? Eh, maybe with masterminds.

Could've sworn someone made this suggestion not too long ago - still, no harm in nudging the zone in point over some.
  12. ... waaaay too many characters to go through bios and pick some.
  13. You don't want to hear "because it's fun," and that - given some of the replies - is understandable (and vague.) I'm also not going to go with "looks," because if we ever get a degree of power customization, that argument goes right out the window.

First, you have to like the character. I don't care how strong or weak a powerset is, if you don't like the character, it's going to be a chore. (For instance, I've got a Bots/FF mastermind. Strong, hard to touch - and boring as hell. He rarely gets played, and nearly turned me off MMs permanently.) The character has to have a 'hook' for you, either through the character itself (RP, look, etc) or as a project (one of every AT to 50, a theme team, etc.) This will help get you through rough spots - and most ATs/powersets have them, either early on (tanks not being very tank-y,) the middle (MMs being very squishy late teens-early 20s,) or late (blasters leveling off and other ATs catching up in the 30s.)

As far as PBs specifically, you're always going to have your tools available at the same strength. You don't NEED something to die if you eat alpha on the first mob - your heal's ready to go, recharge aside. You always know you're going to have that same strength buff/attack/etc. You don't need to wait for something to die. Same's true with Light Form - some may not like its crash, but know full well I'm at or near the cap as soon as I hit it and am ready to go. (Plus, I find it amusing to beat stuff up from inside itself - no collision while in Light Form.)

You don't go in with part of your offense missing, or get twitchy waiting when the team pauses for something, compared to a 'shade's essences. (Not going into the relative comparison of the pets, of course - I think I made my point on *that* clear earlier.)

Related to that, you don't lose out as badly if you don't take Dwarf. The Peacebringer is more forgiving of you taking human form. Dechs goes on about his Warshade dwarf mire - but if you don't want to take dwarf, you're losing that buff. (And you can take the slots you'd fit in there and put them in other powers.) Given some of the form-changing lag/bugs (like, oh, the tray switching but the form staying thanks to animations,) this is definitely a plus. I'd prefer those bugs squashed, of course. But there's a reason he talks about the "MF" warshade and I mention all the form/formless variants.

Quantum Flight > Nebulous Form. Faster (near instant) activation, and of course flight.

And, again even though it was somewhat degraded in earlier comments (and by i13,) a PB is generally better off than a WS in PVP (barring fighting a Mastermind.) That goes for the 'shade's stuns, as well as the fact that teleport in PVP is utterly useless now as a travel power. If that floats your boat, at least. Plus, it's easier (IMHO) to get shivans as a PB, thanks to fly and those self-contained buffs. (Hover above at 60-65 feet, and shivans don't come out to attack.) Admittedly a bit specialized, but still.

GR is unneeded unless you want to bring the mastermind over heroside.

Well, my main point there is that we *are* running into them a fair amount. Not as much as, say, Maria's arc, no (and I really am not fond of what they did with that,) but they're not all that rare. Might be a playstyle viewpoint, though. Someone who's just soloing isn't going to see them as much, no.

Yeeeah... I'm still not sure where you got that.

Edit: Re - value of -def

I'd suggest reading the controller boards, especially in discussions of Ice vs Earth. Why is Earth held up as better than ice? The -def. So... the "-def is worthless" is certainly not a universal opinion.

Dechs seems to be running on an assumption that we're running 3acc/3dmg (or some IO combination of that.) I don't think I have *any* characters that run slotted anything like that (well, 2a/3d/* on SO/commons.) Unless I'm completely and totally misunderstanding him there, but that's how I read it. (Which, on a slot-hungry AT like Khelds, well... no.)
  18. First rule for playing dom - if you've played a controller, forget almost everything you do there.

    You do damage.
You don't need to set up containment. You've got a whole secondary to do that damage with.
AOE Immobs are easier to put off. (At least for me.) You'll find other powers being more (or less) useful, or want them earlier (or later) than a controller.

Run the plant/thorn. I was - given the proper environment (when they stop on the ramps near Vince Dubrowski, bunching them up nicely) and a few purples - soloing the Scrapyarder spawns at 24-26. It's a blast. And more fun when you have your vines. That and my mind/fire (mostly ranged, there) are among my top "fun" characters to play.

And I'm not sure what miladys_knight is doing. Permadom is useful, sure, but I have exactly zero. Don't forget our damage got moved *out* of domination, we've got that all the time.
  19. All right. Not sure about the replies you've gotten, but - well, one, this isn't really the place to ask for builds. Player guides = player posted guides (like the slew in my sig.) It's a good place to *search* for information, though.

If you want specific help with specific ATs, though, I'd suggest going to the specific AT's forums (Defender and Mastermind in your case.) Be a little more specific than "pro build," though.

Emp/dark/dark - ok, they can probably work with that right off the bat, though you should specify a few preferences (travel, etc.)

"Good MM" is just... really vague. Some are great at single target, some better with AOEs, some primaries and secondaries work really well together, some don't, and that's not going into playstyle (f'rinstance, I have a bot/FF. Powerful, reasonably. Safe, yes. To me, boring as hell. Nearly turned me off MMs all together. My bot/trap or Thug/Poison, though, I love.) Again, specify what you want and playstyle... in the mastermind forum.

You start with Doc Vahz in the teens, there are TFs/SFs throughout the game. No, you don't hit them every mission, or even every arc, but they're not horribly rare on the way up.

And Nova is an option. Not a requirement. Of the two PBs I have at 50, one's a triform, one's human only.

Talk all you want about making foes easier to hit for poorly-slotted teammates; I won't plan my slotting around builds I cannot see or control. With the slot crunch hitting kheldians as hard as it does, something has to be sacrificed (unless you want to start talking about IO's now) and that something is either damage, accuracy or endurance.

I could slot less for accuracy (I suppose that was the original inent?) but then my dps has to go down while I spam the attacks that are slotted for def debuff.
Where do I talk about either (a) worrying about teammates slotting, or (b) slotting for def debuff?

I know you do - all anyone has to do is look at the MFing Warshade guide to see that. But I can think of... oh, one? other guide (not of mine) that that's also the case with. (I also tend to take issue with "Well, IO out this and it can do such-and-such" - IE, "I can tank with my blaster" and so forth.)

What I'm taking issue with with this statement is your comment about your blaster doing all this - and it doesn't until the end game, and then only with very specific picks and with limitations of its own.

The APPs (and somewhat PPPs) are doing, at that point, what they're meant to do - helping fill holes in the ATs. Blasters, for instance, get buffs/debuffs and shields. Controllers get damage. Tanks get control and ranged damage, and so forth.

The Kheldian *has been doing that all along.* It's the same point that gets brought up when people ask why Khelds don't get an APP - what would it be "filling in?" Damage? We have a good range of attacks. Control? We get that. Shields? We have resistance, innate and selectable in the pri/sec. Range? Have it. Melee? Have it. Team buffs? Available via Leadership, as well as (PB side) glowing touch if you feel like healing folks. (Yes, if you swap forms you have to retoggle.)

    Quote:
There's a very big difference between what I'm saying and what you are trying to infer.

A peacebringer is designed to be a jack of all trades. It took heavy penalties in damage output to be able to have its versatility. The same level of versatility is available to the other ATs that it was designed to emulate, and they all do more damage.
Careful with that "all" there. You *know* I'll pick on it.

    Quote:
Your Earth/FF and your Ice/emp all do things better than other ATs do. Your peacebringer does not. A blaster or a scrapper can control as well as your PB does, can do more damage than your PB can, and can survive as well as or better than your PB can.
The scrapper can survive better and do more in melee. Less at range. And as far as control... I'd argue that.
The blaster has a mix of melee and range attacks, and some control (depending on primary/secondary, going from an immobilize (Fire, for instance) to multiple holds (Ice/Ice/most APPs, same with Elec.) But they survive *differently* than a PB. That one shield - defense *only* if you've picked specific APPs, resistance to a few types instead, with a buff to S/L if you've picked up Tough and its prerequisite - is available late, and limited. It's certainly nothing like Light Form *or* Dwarf.

    Quote:
You're missing my entire point. I don't care that peacebringers are sub-par when I'm looking for people to invite to my team. Hell, on my first MoSTF I invited a peacebringer.

I care because the people who enjoy playing PBs are being shortchanged. The PB does not fit on our scale of balance. I would like to see that corrected. That's all I'm saying, and I'm astounded that you offer such opposition to it.
My issue is that you're taking the fact something's available in APPs as rationale to *call* it shortchanged. My blaster getting more control in their APP (my first blaster, an Elec/Elec, now had three holds, an immob, end drain, etc. when I got to that point - a not inconsiderable amount of control) doesn't make my controllers, who do less damage (by far) obsolete.

I won't argue against things that make a PB better - find a way for the toggles to run in forms? Sure! Buff up Photon Seekers? Sure! - but I disagree with the position you're making the comparison *from,* or at least how I'm reading it.

This isn't a matter of skewing. You'll find it's my attitude on a lot of things (including the way most builds are posted here - "Hi, I'm just starting an X/Y, can someone give tips?" "Sure, here's a level 50, purpled out thing that won't do you a bit of good for 49 levels!")

I don't *care* that if you pick a specific APP in the 40s you get what I can get at level 4. Most people aren't there most of the time. Why was the Epic unlock level dropped? Because of low numbers. Why low numbers? Not that big of a percent of players were at 50 to begin with, and from that population, fewer played/kept epics. So they chose to open them up to more people.

Everybody plays a level 1. Most people play a level 15. A few fewer people play at level 25, and so forth.

    Quote:
Why bother playing the first 40 levels when I know that for the last 10 (which account for much more playtime than the first 40) I will be completely outclassed?
Then why play anything that's not FOTM? Should I, then, just go and delete my Earth/FF, my Emps (really, they tend to be "outclassed" by the time I hit 50 as far as helping people survive - they can do so well enough on their own in most instances) and the like? Hell, my Ice/Emp had issues with Dreck as an EB, at 0/0. Should I just sweat that and delete the character?

I can either do that, or not worry that I'm not getting "teh ubar" DPS of, say, BillZBubba's scrapper and just *enjoy* myself. Because, strangely enough, I still get invited to teams regularly (and not just from the friends/SG list.) Nobody's come down on me doing 3 points of damage less here, or 10 points there. I have yet, in... let's see, 5 1/2 (first PB made in July 2005) years of play, been kicked from a team or rejected for not doing as much DPS, etc, etc as someone else.
