  1. you mean the one just as you go inside? Or the one where you're standing by the inspector?

Just rolled up a new character on Freedom to look and there are clockwork in both places.
  2. Hmm. I read this and was rather disappointed - was hoping you were talking about guaranteeing solo missions that are worth using Incarnate-level abilities.

Which, honestly, we don't know the future for yet, but given we only have two TFs right now...

If you're looking for a "Shard Streakbreaker," though, sure. That'd work for me - have to say, though, that just running missions (even on some of my characters lower settings = 0/1 or +1x1) I get them more often than that.

I seriously doubt that the developers are ever going to seriously consider a system or revamp that let's players have it all and do it all.
    .... er... what?

I was mostly along 'til you said the above. And I'm sorry, but if you think I can't buff/debuff AND attack/control NOW, you're mistaken. I do quite a bit of both, thanks, with the current setup.

If the setup were you had to constantly (and I mean 30 second duration on everything) buff/rebuff, well, then you'd have a point - but my sonic/sonic, earth/ff, ice/emp, dark/thermal, other sonic/sonic, ice/cold.... hell, let's just say "Long damn list of support characters that use these sets" have no problem buffing AND attacking, or buffing AND controlling. My characters are VERY active, TYVM, and not just re/applying buffs.

The devs likely don't want you to "buff once and forget it for the rest of the mission" (assuming it's not a very short misison.) I could see them stretching bubbles to MAYBE 5 minutes as opposed to 4 without affecting their strength or END cost, but past that, I doubt it.

tldr version: If that's "having it all," I've had it all for years now, thanks.

For the past two days I've been experiencing immediate "can not find page" where the browser isn't even looking. That gets fixed with ipconfig /flushdns in a Command Window.

But the hanging on loading doesn't get fixed with a DNS flush.

Switching from Firefox to IE doesn't help, either.
    Same here. Firefox, Chrome, IE.

Sorry Bill, but more and more that arguement is being proven untrue these days.
Specific dev-started threads are an exception. And you can't say it's untrue that they base their changes on data mining, versus ignoring issues because there's not a thread on them.

    Or are you saying this:

The devs don't care about this forum. Know why blasters got defiance reworked? In-game data mining about blaster performance. Not forum threads.

    Also:

    Quote:
Give them APP & PPP. Yeah, both. They can switch sides too, so they should be able to get the epic powers from the other side. I know EATs dont get access to any ancillary power pool, but there are not that many powers if you go fully human form. I stopped playing both WS and PB at lvl 38 because I already got all the powers I wanted, and Im not a "4 power pools a build guy". And that was before inherent stamina.
APPs/PPPs are meant to fill holes in capabilities for characters. Melee characters, for instance, get some control and range. Controllers get attacks and resist/defense. Blasters get a mix of control and shields.

PBs and WSs already have the full range of capabilities in their primaries and secondaries. Melee, ranged, control, shields, travel, buffing (self or team.) So, what would be in an APP/PPP for them that would *realistically* be added - that isnt' already in a regular power pool?
  10. Nice!

I think most people with solo'ing problems understand it's an MMO and everything is team based, but most would also like to see things to make solo'ing possible for certain tasks for certain ATs or Powerset combos. "Find A Team" isnt always possible depending on your server and the hour you play. And for this one I think the OP was close enough to right calling this arc "impossible" to solo
See, I don't get that. My characters aren't "IO'd out," certainly not "purpled out." You could probably remake most of my builds with a single mid-to-upper market priced purple recipe. (I certainly have when one's dropped!) Some of my characters are still mostly on *SOs.* And I'm not an "uber player."

But I've soloed this on every single 50 I have - and I have at least one of each AT, some of them decidedly low powered (Ice/Emp, Earth/FF, Emp/Rad.) Did I die and have to come back on occasion? Yep. Picked up a few more inspirations, perhaps, and came back in.

So, I'm sorry, I just *can't* buy that this is "impossible to solo for certain AT/powersets." I'm not BillZBubba playing the scrapper (or brute) of doom, I don't solo rikti pylons and GMs, I've got thoroughly average builds - I don't even have a perma-Dom. But I can get through this - doing just what I mentioned up in my last post (other than getting a team.)

    1. Yes, try help again. Do you have a SG? Pester someone there. Alternately, find your server's global channels and ask there.

    That aside,

    2. Before going in, *lower your difficulty.* There's no stigma with running him at -1 level/0 extra members.

    3. He's vulnerable to immobilizes. Controllers, Dominators, Blasters, some Defenders, and if you look in APPs, Tanks, Brutes and Masterminds (I *think* Scrappers/Stalkers as well) get them. Use them. Stack them.

    4. Stay out of melee, if you're not a melee AT.

    5. Stock up on, and use, inspirations.

    6. Temp power: Envenomed dagger. Worth picking up.

    7. Ambushes and reinforcements:
    - Five come in as you hit the Crey near the container. They start way back near the beginning. Stop and clean them up.

    - Ignore the glowie.

    - Go into the second-last room (before the one the portals appear in.) Another ambush comes in when you get to the far end here. You'll notice the portals don't appear at all. (Nothing is in the last room.)

    - Be sure you have your inspirations, then go back and click the glowie.

    - Clear any near portals, ignore the farther ones, and pull first Capt. whatserface, then honoree - bring them into the cleared room. Barring a taunt or AOE (or getting too close,) the other rikti (typically two, osmetimes 3 portals in back) won't move.

It's not impossible. Can take a bit, sure. But it's not impossible.

Oh, and make sure you're not under the Rogue Vanguard's Curse of Weariness. Cuts your END in half - if you are, use some V-merits and grab the curse breaker, or wait it out.

Hey devs, stack salvage in emails? Sometimes I'd like to just play the game :P

I'd seen it in my combat attributes, but wondered if the slow movement resist wasn't working -guess 20% less with double stacked glue is still a lot.

Now to work out which toons NEED the protection -and yes my ws and pb have claimed one each.
Heh. I went and loaded up on candy canes - I've got a little level 10 character I keep at that level JUST for stuff like this. Picked up five of the WG Slow Resist recipes - already have a few claimed. I actually need more (they're helpful for so many characters.)
  15. Well, given they're not just worlds, "Dimension of origin" (or simply "place of origin," I suppose) would also work, unless you're looking for a single-word description.

I'm somewhat against "homeworld" for nitpicky RP reasons - as Kheldians wouldn't be "from" Primal Earth, though their merged forms (likely) would be, and people have a good number of alien/other-dimensional/otherworldly characters, elementals and the like. But I wouldn't lose any sleep if you used it.

Under your proposed system, you beat one enemy solo and get 8 shard checks.

If you are not willing to admit that this would actively disincentivize teaming, then there is zero conversation to be had here.

A "team" and a "character" are not interchangeable units of information when it comes to evaluating drops, especially when the drops are not tradeable. The team is not creating a larger pool of resources for the community, as is the case with recipes and salvage. Only the drops received by an individual matter. Continuing to pretend that the number received by "the team" matters is, at best, fanciful.

The relevant data point is the number of shards received by an average team member, because that is the metric that should be compared to the soloist. I know you love your "8 times as many" argument, but it does not mean what you portray it as meaning, and I find your continued insistence on it to be intellectually dishonest.
Of course, the flip (or at least companion) side to that is that, yes, the team WILL get more shard checks at base settings than the soloist will - simply because there are more enemies and, generally, they'll be defeated quicker.

Yeah, I know, pointing out the obvious - but even the difficulty slider doesn't quite even that out. Generally, a team of six will still get more shard checks in an hour than a soloist (barring, say, the IO'd out AOE-monster scrapper) at x6, since they'll be finishing the mobs and mission faster.

No real way to "balance" that out, and it shouldn't even be attempted, IMHO. The slider's close enough - run where you're most comfortable and most "efficient," if that's 0x1 or +4x8.
  17. Winter's Gift IO recipe = global, so always on (with typical global exceptions.)

Instead of relying on icons, look at your combat attributes (Powers - Combat Attributes.) Debuff Resistance: Recharge Time Resist: 20% from Winter's Gift Slow Resist.

The ones I most often take it on are Khelds, and slot it (and 3 resists) in White Dwarf. *shrug* Put it where it fits for you.

Which is why they made the COH binder manual/guide/thing.

And updated it - what, once?

That's been a big historical gripe, for me, with the stuff started by either Cryptic (at the time) or perhaps NC - no followup. CCG, died. PnP game, sort of withered. Old EAT mentions - now generally forgotten, even with "hooks" in game. Manual - right, just point people to the wiki, I guess.

"Can" is not "Must." The only requirements for an MMO to BE an MMO is that it's a persistent (not instanced, such as Diablo/D2/Halo/etc) world and that it can handle a large number of players (as opposed to single team) at once.

    There is no teaming requirement.

Individual tasks may be easier or even be designed to require a team. SOME games may be designed around that. But that's an individual design choice. It's no more a *requirement* for something to be an MMO than having the design include elves, magic swords, etc. is.

    Incorrect.

    "Interaction" does not mean "Team."

I "Interact" with the people who buy and sell things on the market. I don't "team" with them. I "Interact" indirectly with the people who leave level 50 winter lords in Atlas. I certainly don't "team" with them. I "interact" with someone who asks a question. Doesn't mean I "team" with them. I "interact" with the people I hunt (or am hunted by) in PVP. I don't "team" with them.

MMO != "must team." All it means is an environment with multkple people on at once in a persistent world.

    Buff Stuns

Are you *just* looking at those, or at all powers with stun components?

I *think* the concern might be stackability (though longer duration would be nice.) Throw an Energy melee tank/brute in there and everything's getting stunned on almost every hit if it's not staggering already.

*shrug* I don't know. I almost never take Dark Pit as it is - and I'm the guy who *likes* taking oddball powers like Black Hole.
