  1. The problem with group fly and support characters (or any character) is that, depending on powerset, it makes powers unusable. It's not an issue if it's YOUR character flying - you can just detoggle. Group fly, though, requires you to get out of the radius of the "bubble." When I'm trying to use - say - stalagmites, it interferes. Toggle it on while someone's trying to get an AS off, they're interrupted.

Group *hover* would make it worse, as - moving at hover speed - it takes *longer* to get out of the way.

Group Fly has its uses. It needs to have everyone move at the same fly speed, though. (Masterminds CAN get around this by just directing a pet they have on follow.)
  2. It's per-character. Given it takes salvage drops and such, I'm not sure why you'd think differently...

This altaholic is ignoring it on most of my characters, past the alpha slot. 21 50s, two others in spitting distance, and a chunk of others in the 40s... yeah. I'm not hopping on that hamster wheel.

Here's my thing - I'm running with very experienced set of players, who run this content regularly (as do I) with fairly decent team sizes and high settings. (We work rather well together.) Between us, we've probably run this content hundreds of times. The universal reaction was "What the..."

If one of us had seen it before, well, most of us should have, and if it was just one or two of us that didn't remember it, the others would have mentioned it - and it wouldn't have warranted a thread. Seeing a similar reaction of "Where did you get that spawn?!" from Evilgeko and a few others in here...

(If you're wondering about players, you may recognize them - Hex Girl - times two, as she was dual boxing, we're trying to get a pair of her characters to 50, her fiance, I *believe* we had Duck with us as well on these runs, myself and Valkyrierising - who tends to run RO teams, as well - plus another SG-mate. Not atypical, and certainly a group that should have run into this before.)

Hitting this once would have been noticable in a "that's odd" sort of way. Doing so in multiple missions? That's like getting a purple recipe drop in every spawn, attention-getting wise.

I'm not arguing that you (and others) haven't seen it before. I'm wondering now why our troupe *hasn't,* given how we normally run (either together or apart, at least one of us should have run into this before.)

Newspaper mission held over an issue change... yeah, I dread seeing what happens with those. Fortunately, if I see "BOSS_NAME" after an issue drop, we can change now. And I can avoid doing this again:

Few in the Dark Watcher's arc. Not *a* mission. The two I specifically recall are rescuing the nemesis defector (and can he *PLEASE* be made either non-suicidal or not as squishy?) and rescuing Dietrich and Sefu (well, finding seafood's body.)

I'm still iffy about that. Like I've said, I've run this arc with fair sized teams (6 or so, which is what we had this time) and I've never seen it. The comments from my friends (who have also played COH for years, some since launch) reinforced that - they hadn't seen that either.

is the response I got when I asked. I'm just going to grab the serials from the latest booster and try to keep them *somewhere* (not quite sure where yet,) so I'll have something I can show them if I ever need to.
  6. Ran across this precise spawn in three missions in the RWZ tonight. (Four if I wanted to be picky - two people had the same mission, slightly different settings - one plus level, one even con. Showed up in both.)

Yes. Eight fake nemesis. Yes, that's one single spawn. (Plus a warhulk and another fake in the *next* spawn.)

Oh, you know that mission where you try to save the Nemesis defector? The very squishy little ranged aggro monkey? Yeah. That was one of them. Needless to say, that didn't go very well.

I don't think I've ever seen spawns of fakes like these. Two? Sure. Fake and Warhulk? No problem. A spawn full of fakes? You have no *idea* how fun that is.

First time we saw it - team wipe. Didn't help that they bubbled each other.

Second time - the escort mission - we planned on my brute taunting and running to let the others get past. Yeah. Didn't work. NPC decided he wanted to solo the spawn.

Third time wasn't bad - two brutes, a dom and defenders make it a bit easier to separate them (especially when you have room to move.) It was actually rather nice working out a plan of attack that *worked* (and quickly) against them. Still, this is an odd spawn, especially to see several times over (and we've run these missions many times, half to full team, and haven't seen this before.)

Wondering if anyone else is seeing anything similar.

    Poison. Fix it!

I wouldn't call Alkaloid "crap." It should, however, either be faster, cost less END or heal more. Or some combination of the above.

See cottage rule re: "replace a power."

And yes, /poison's poison trap does indeed suck. On the one hand, I'm happy to have a skippable power. On the other, I'd like to have it *work.*

What I'm disappointed with is that quite a bit seems to be ignored. It looks like The Coming Storm was retconned into being "The Well empowers Evil Marcus Cole #908374923874 to invade Earth, finds out Ouroboros is involved and invades there as well."

    What's being ignored?
    - The shivans being scouts. They seem to have no tie in to the well at all.
    - Twilight's Son. If I'm remembering correctly, part of TCS ended up using Kheldians to power starships... aside from the ridiculousness of this from a purely rational standpoint (and the size of, oh, the universe,) it has never had any tie to the well, Incarnates, etc... but ties into an extraterrestrial/extragalactic threat like the Shivans.
    - Mender Silos comes from how far in the future... and what does this have to do with him being Nemesis, among other things? It's even mentioned in Ramiel's Q&A selections, so you *know* the writers are aware of the connection.

... frankly, it seems like a continuation of one of the things I don't like about VEATs, namely how it seems that the writing being given such short shrift these days.
  11. Don't give him any ideas.

As it is, badge-wise the only thing that counts is the monster construction, *not* the Paladin(s.)

I agree we're getting oversaturated with Praetoria, and the whole "Cole Takes Over the Multiverse because the Well is Nuts!" bit came out of nowhere. It's a jarring interruption to the rest of the story - especially when we already HAVE a multi-dimensional threat of god-levels of power that hasn't been touched in years (and has a far more interesting setting.) And which certainly seems to have ignored the whole "Shivans are scouts for the coming storm" angle so far.
  13. First character was my forum namesake, a Fire/SS Tank, back in Issue 3.
He got sidelined for a while (and was on the verge of deletion at one point thanks to getting caught between two sorcerers - didn't have Burn until after it was nerfed, and then only had it on test) while my .. fourth? character, an elec/elec Blaster, played and RP'd up to 50.

Kept him around, got him to 50 a while later, glad I never deleted him.

Now? 276 alts according to CIT. Have vs Play... I have some of everything. I play a fair number of Controllers, Doms and, yes, tanks, now that I've done the "One of every AT to 50" bit. Working on "One of each powerset" now - if I just count "finished" (32/38,) I've nearly finished Control sets (need to get Elec up) and Masterminds (not hard to do.)

  15. What the "omg content police waah they's evil!" group doesn't get is that a copyright holder *must* enforce their copyright or risk losing it. Which means if they get word that, say, a group is making X-men clones in COH, they've got to hold PS/NC responsible. Not the players.

Thus, most well known names are unavailable - not taken, just not available. And GMs do go around, when called or just when they see something, and generic names and costumes. It's that or, yes, lawsuits. Whether you like it or not, that's the way of things.

As far as the OP, I'd say from the description he has nothing to worry about.
  16. Nope. I find it annoying at times (as mentioned, oh, two weeks ago when my little lvl 17 controller was trying to deal with rikti raids and, quite literally, at least 85% of the server was on 50s doing TFs with the others in missions or scattered) but I'm generally just ignoring the mess and doing what I want to do.

I have never been against a solo path, but I have been against an easy-mode path. That's just the achiever in me. It's never been personal.
FIrst, re: "easy mode path" - you know what they say about assuming...

Second, you *can't* get "ever more power." There has to be a limit. Some of which we're seeing in that the various buffs won't work outside fo the specific content.

And third, *Going after Ruularu, you're fighting an insane god in his own mind.* Seems perfectly appropriate for god-level power as well as, as you put it, "fighting bigger and badder stuff to earn more power." But that, to me, is a *REAL* reason, as opposed to the ridiculous raid-hamster-wheel we're seeing. If all I wanted was "More for the sake of having more," I'd save $30/mo on COH and play this instead.

Nothing against Geko's idea (surprisingly,) but to me it's pointless without a *reason* to use them. (Which is why I suggest letting us solo/small team folks start directing this new power against Ruularu. Which also helps the lack of attention, updates, or *anything to do* in the Shard.)

And if you wanted to lose depth, they'd have to make Neuromancer (which, if it were done today, would likely gloss over the decidedly out of date references in the book - like the sky the color static or the line of pay phones ringing as they're walked past. And lose bits in the process. Much like no Dune movie has had Paul's mother ask him, after the duel in the sietch and his feeling victorious, how it feels to be a murderer.)
