Yes I know, I can't play all 72 characters. But I still need more slots on Virtue!
Going to start off with saying "I'm not against more slots. I'd probably use it myself." Two accounts, a few servers near full, yes.

But why *can't* you branch out to other servers? I have *never* gotten this argument.

RP? Take the RP with you. It's the Rper, not the server, that makes for good (or not) RP.

Bases? They don't take that long to build up, and starting a new base - hey, try a new direction without messing up the existing one.

Your friends? Take them with you, and make some new ones. Start a "superteam" or "theme team" to get those initial characters leveled... and, while you're at it, get prestige for the base.

Your INF is on certain characters? We have gleemail. No messing with the market any more to try to transfer it.

Branch out a bit! (Plus, if there's ever an issue with your home server, you have somewhere else to play, too.)

    /this.

Every once in a while I get a spark of hope (or exceptional irritation) and post in that thread when I get logged out. The rest of the time... it's like that car you have you can't afford to get fixed *just* yet, so you go through your little ritual to get it started, or make sure not to park on a hill or whatnot. You just sigh and do it because there's not a thing you can do about getting it resolved right now.

no. You can switch form and fire off a power, but it's VERY limited (specifically to avoid botting.) You can (IIRC) somewhat "cheat" by setting another power to auto, but you're not going to get a chain of powers like that.

    2. Queuing for a Trial automatically sets your Team Search status to "Looking for Trial".

    3. SHOW the number of people who are queued for each trial.
This will encourage people to queue if there are already a number of people in it. If there aren't many in the queue and it discourages them from queuing, so be it; the trial probably wasn't going to launch anytime soon anyways.

    4. Allow people to see and join Trials in progress, provided the trial is not locked and has open spots.

    Skimming through the thread -

I often disagree with Johnny_Butane, but he's spot on here. I think he's hit everything that really, 100% needs to be done to the LFG tool listed here. Especially getting rid of the need to drop from queue to join a league.

And just like when free transfers were offered, there was this HUGE assumption that, gee, nobody's going to want to stay anywhere else.

It was wrong then. And the assumption people will only, or primarily, want to start on Freedoom - can't say it's right, either, given the *new* players I see on my not-Freedom-or-Virtue servers.

I'm pretty sure everyone can be quite guilty of that. Just try a free to play game. Pick one, any of them, as long as it has multiple servers. Which server would you choose? The one that only had a single bub out of three? Isn't that server less likely to have players running around, forming groups and providing help than the one who has two or three bubs out of three?
Conversely, which is more likely to be crowded, if there's PVP involved have more chance to be "ganked" while trying to learn what you're doing and the like?

All reasons I *started* on Pinnacle, for instance.

It would keep the "culture" of both servers intact, prevent them from becoming completely overloaded every night, and would have the added benefit of helping the population grow on some of the smaller servers.

    Thoughts?
So none of the others are worth that same consideration?

    No.

Riight. Just like all the free transfers would have everyone RUSH to Freedom and Virtue.... which didn't happen.

And that's my favored solution, quite honestly. There's a tweak or two that can be done, but yeah, basically I think this would "fix" those powers as far as the playerbase is concerned.
  10. I don't think we have to worry about it, frankly. I doubt he'll "fall with galaxy city." FWIW, there are very few times we have characters we meet "fall" (Breakneck, your double in Jenny Adair's arc, Pyriss and Terra - the last being a "sort of" for the list - are the only ones I can think of right offhand.)

If a fairly major character falls... I'd expect it to be one of many, really, and just before a major change (as in "And then we launch COH 2.")
  11. OK. Think I have the first round of revisions and tweaks done, if someone'd be so kind as to zip through this again.

Should be maxing out at 30.

Also don't have Tou Vue accompanying you on the third mission - so there's time for him to be captured, we'll see if that makes any sense.

Haven't quite decided what to do about the bodies in the middle yet.
  12. Well, if it's like the RWZ, it'd probably either (a) convert to an active zone (probably atlas/mercy,) or (b) just go inactive.
  13. Last but not least - the 50s are still grinding away at trials, so you'll see quite a few (depending on server) in the Rikti War Zone, Pocket D or (more rarely) Cimerora.

Also, Friday night, Midnight eastern, Virtue server, there's a weekly costume contest redside in Port Oakes.

We *know of* two (technically four) other species because of the Kheldians copying the forms. The Kheldians themselves are one species (or, rather, two, with the serious divergence due to Science of the Nictus/Warshades.)

The forms themselves are not other species of kheldians.

  15. First, yes, lolpvp.

OK, with that out of the way....

We have a few "rewards" going on when it comes to PVP. Like much of the system, it's very... *fractured.* Some of it, really, is out of date. If we look at it, we have:

    - Rep, which decays and other than two badges doesn't do anything.
    - Chance for drops. OK.
    - Chance to get whatever they were carrying... in Bloody Bay and Warburg.
    - Chance for Bounty - in siren's call only.

Bounty, I thought, was actually a decent system, but only is in use in one zone. In addition, the bounty rewards are underwhelming. Inspirations? OK. SOs? ...

OK, good in issue 6, where you could get them at 20 instead of 22. In issue 9, we got inventions. In issue 20... not much of a reward.

So, IF the devs ever decide "Hey, do we still have that PVP thing? Maybe we should look at it again" and fix the mess it's in, they can rework the bounty system thus:

    1. Make it applicable in all PVP zones.
    2. By making it "merits," it's persistent. Accidental DC? You don't lose it.
    3. You can reward it for things other than PVP in the PVP zones. Yes, PVP should give the best rewards for it, but sometimes (heh) the zones are a bit slow.

Now, how much to reward for what, and what should things cost? Yes, the PVP IO recipes are still going to be expensive. But as a "for instance" on rewards:

    - 3 merits for a PVP zone "minigame" completion, once per hour.
    - Siren's Call specific, 3 merits for the first zone battle won, 1 per each other hotspot until all are covered. This takes a while....
    - 2 merits for each RV AV defeated, each 24 hours.
    - 3 merits on the first defeat (by you) of a specific person in zone, BUT:
    - 1 merit per 200 points rep difference (which will obviously decline,) and potentially
    - 1 merit per 5 levels positive "real" level difference, first defeat, 24 hours. (So if a level 15 managed to defeat a level 40 that's visiting in BB, it's a bit more of a reward - since they're overcoming slotting and power differences... but there's not a reward going the OTHER way so you can just chew up lowbies.)

The various timers are to curb just farming something or someone over and over, of course.

Rewards? Again, don't get hung up on numbers here.
1 merit - 2 medium inspirations, or 1 large random.
2 merits - specific large random, one even level SO
... and so forth, through common IO recipes, built common IOs, through the Very Rare and PVP IO recipes... which, yes, we'd probably still be looking at 250 or so for. But you're PVPing (and taking care of zone items) to get there -and quite likely, with the minigames and such, it'd feel reasonable of a rate.

I would rather the Devs waste their efforts to overhaul SG bases and remove Prestige entirely from the game than to reduce it down to a trivial level as a band-aid afterthought. My thinking is that it'd be far more silly for it to be set at 1:1 ratio than it would be for it to be completely removed. Prestige should either serve a significant purpose in this game (i.e. as a 500:1 ratio threshold) or none at all.

I consider it the "fix it completely or don't bother with it at all" solution.
Anything else would just be half-baked and semi-pointless.
See, I'm for keeping Prestige, for the simple reason it's a way for "everyone" - not just the marketeers - to feel they're contributing (visibly) to the supergroup, without *losing* anything before 26. So to me, it does have a "significant" purpose in the game. (And not a silly position on the registrar's list.)

However, so do INF sinks... *IF* people feel its worthwhile to use them.

The problem with the ratio is that it's so punitive that few people will use it. 1:1 IS silly, yes. 1:250 (twice, or half depending on which side you're looking at, the current rate) itself would be an improvement. But I'd hope they'd put more thought into it.

    Or make up your own.

Quick run through my own "stable" of characters gives:

    - A few from an unnamed "Empire," starting with my first scrapper (who was exiled from there.) Blue to Purple skinned, typically white hair, naturally has spines poking out.

    - Two extradimensional fire elementals. (Well, one fire, one ash.)

    - Quite a few alternate earths or alternate timelines (who are just "alien" to this timeline.)

    - Many Kheldians, of course.

... so, yeah. Make up what you want. There's plenty of room.

OK. Updated the guide, and FFM seems to feel it's "free to share" info as well. Bit of comic book physics-bending is involved.

    Following from Avatea via FFM:
    Quote:
Within the vacuum of space Kheldians use their light form to accelerate to light speed and then shift to their Kurukt or Ruktur form. Having sudden immense mass in this form while moving at the speed of light creates a time/space rip (a small wormhole) to form. The result is the Kheldian moving great distances at nearly instantaneous speeds. The only thing slowing them down is a carefully aimed vector toward single or series of massive gravitational bodies. This technique is used to leap frog between star systems with the only notable amount of time expended being the period of acceleration to light speed and subsequent deceleration at the destination point.
