  1. Great idea, Sam. I would enjoy sped-up time as well.

The question would be whether it is possible to "un-synch" the mission from the "Server Day/Night Cycle." I imagine it is tougher than it sounds. As recent events have shown, it might work for everyone except Kheldians.

I suppose we have to take what we can get. I still like the Garage tileset for the Clockwork Captive, the Tattoo Parlor tileset and the like a great deal, but they seem to be few and far between.

  3. You can use the Tech Temp Power Taser!

Of course, as with OSA, pets run out of the area of effect of this power. Come to think of it, EVERYONE runs out of the area.

  5. Steelclaw, I am not understanding how any of this disqualifies you to be a Developer. If anything, it may put current Dev job holders in danger of a pink slip!

(Of course, now I have probably given you an idea about giving Lord Recluse a pink silky undergarment or something... )
  6. The biggest utility of Lift as a secondary control was in the lower levels, where you held one baddie and tossed another. Any way you could get one fewer guy shooting at you was most welcome.

Of course, I was leveling up my Grav/Storm in 2005, without Vet powers, Temp Powers from Wentworth's or even Origin temp powers. These days, the problem is far less acute. Indeed, with a temporary Plasmatic Taser, you can knock down several at a time! Ah, these young whippersnapper heroes have it SO easy nowadays!

I have to affirm the target control aspect of Lift, which I failed to mention. The Crushed baddies merrily shoot at me, but you can't shoot if you are being dropped on your head and then trying to stand back up. Usually, just in time to get a Forklift to the Kisser FTW!

Lift vs. Crush has been a longstanding feud. On my first Grav/Storm, who I took to 50 long before IOs, I had Lift. On my second, who is around 36, I took Crush.

Lift is, at least to me, a lot more fun. Tossing the baddie in the air and seeing him land on his ear is just fun. It was especially fun when I hit Lift on a baddie, then Singy hit the baddie with Lift and took him higher, and I was able to Lift the baddie yet again. It was like two gunfighters shooting a can in the air.

Crush, on the other hand, is more efficient for all the reasons you cite.

However, the reason I am commenting is:

With Inherent Fitness in i19 freeing up three powers, there is no reason to have to choose between them now. Actually, "then"... since i19 won't go live until the week after Turkey Day. But you know what I mean.

Yes, I will have both on both my Grav/Storms, and I will have Efficient Fun!

Well, the music video for "(Do You Want to Date My) Avatar" was simply smashing, so seeing another music video would be great.

BTW... this is the last promotional trailer I'm doing for COH. I know I've retired before, and I came back. And I'll still be making videos, but I want to diversify my production reel with other stuff, like music vids, commercials for other media, etc (these will include more COH vids, just not TRAILERS).
That will open up more avenues for creativity, methinks. The Issue Trailers are certainly great, but they do impose certain constraints. I should think a CoH music video would be great.

And yet another Bravo for your Issue 19 work.

Well, Hover got "fixed" and Lightning Storm got "fixed" after what, four years and some change? The worst part of it was the indignant finger-pointing that "Everyone KNEW they were bugged" and they were therefore "exploits" that went on in the forums afterward. Wait, what? But "fixed" they got.

Moral of the story: Do not rely on it being a "bug they won't bother fixing."

P.S. Having to summon a "floating" Vet Pet on the ground makes no sense regardless.

My personal opinion is that if you don't want to SB the team, you should either play solo or pick another secondary. I feel that skipping SB is a very selfish choice by someone who isn't looking out for the best interests of the team over himself.

If I'm leading a team with a Kin who won't (or can't because he/she didn't take the power) SB the team, I may not kick the character (because I really think it is rude), but I will make a note and probably never team with that character again.

If you don't want to take it, that's fine. But don't expect me to want to team with you.
Once again, Local Man pretty well sums up my thoughts. If I do not want to bubble the team in both bubbles, I should not play my Force Field heroes. If I do not want to SB the team, I should not play my Kin. As he said before, it is simple enough to bind to your Number Pad and just run 1-8 as needed to buff the team.

The big issue here, as I see it, is what to do when the team scatters and individuals who have run ahead and are separated from the Kin start to demand SB. Well, that way lies madness. If I can't see you, I cannot SB you, plain and simple. If one person is entitled to Valet Service wherever they happen to be, then all are, and there is no way to SB 7 separated teammates. If the team has a Stone Tank, I will in their neck of the woods for sure, but if you also want it, hang where I can see you and buff you.

Fortunately, I have not encountered kick-happy leaders who punt at the drop of a hat, and like Local Man, I am not one myself. If I can see you, I will SB you. If you have run out, I do not mind a "SB plz," assuming that is not on Autofire. And as a corollary, I will NOT SB anyone that requests a pass; it is not Cod Liver Oil that you will take whether you like it or not.

    *gets kicked from team*

    It is a game, folks.

    It was simple and direct.

    QUIT button woes

I have Speed Boost bound to my keypad. When I hit 1-8, it buffs the corresponding member slot of my team.

You can copy and paste this one line at a time if you like:

    Buff each teammate via numberpad:
    /bind NUMPAD1 "+ $$teamselect 1$$powexec_name Speed Boost"
    /bind NUMPAD2 "+ $$teamselect 2$$powexec_name Speed Boost"
    /bind NUMPAD3 "+ $$teamselect 3$$powexec_name Speed Boost"

  18. You would have done fine, Outback, either way you went. Both are a lot of fun to play.

When you unleash Tornado and/or Lightning Storm, it is a good idea to spam the AoE Immob to keep baddies from getting flung Hither and Thither. Tornado can really grind a baddie down when it does not have to chase them. You will find that the Earth AoE Immob is a bit easier to use because it will work on airborne baddies, whereas the baddies need to be close to the ground for the Plant AoE Immob to be able to hit them.

I have taken Earth/Storm to 50 twice and Plant/Storm to 50 once. Lots of enjoyment with those guys.

  21. So Owl wrote . . . and this is what he wrote:

    BTHUTHDY.

    Pooh looked on admiringly.

"I'm just saying 'A Happy Birthday'," said Owl

So, on the morrow, A Carelessly Happy Birthday to you, Steelclaw! Many Happy Returns of the Day!

Extra added bonus: When Atlas does the Throw-Up emote, the globe will crush the costume contest underneath. Hilarity ensues!
