    ...except that lately, they are mowed down in a hail of gunfire before I can even target them. Well, it's the thought that counts, right?

    And when I pop my OWN rez inspiration, I CANNOT POP A BREAKFREE UNTIL ENOUGH TIME HAS PASSED. No Breakfree, no Green, no Blue AND as a bonus, stagger around and get the Instant Swiss Cheese Treatment. So Goodbye to Emergency Combat Rez when there are baddies around.

    This whole business is like the Maze in Perez Park. Perhaps the dev that came up with it thought it added an exciting dimension to gameplay, but it is just an annoying pain in the posterior.

    REES

    I hink ha I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a ree.

    A ree whose hungry mouh is pres
    Agains he earh's swee flowing breas;

    A ree ha looks a God all day,
    And lifs her leafy arms o pray;

    A ree ha may in Summer wear
    A nes of robins in her hair;

    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who inimaely lives wih rain.

    Poems are made by fools like me,
    Bu only God can make a ree.
  6. Local,

    What are your thoughts on the 3 powers that should replace the now Inherent Fitness powers in your build?

    I imagine that they may well take the two extra slots from Fly now that it hits the cap without enhancements. I should think that a -KB IO should go in the Fly inherent slot now. What say you?
  7. See, if we could have been assured of then joining the Rikti team, the Bizarro Guys would have happily been kicked and gotten Riktified.

    I agree with the sentiments that Banter Is Good. But I also try to know my audience, and not make anyone gag. And yes, I have been on those sessions where "Herding to here" was all that was ever said, despite my best efforts. What folks have to do to get noticed by a well...

    He kicked me immediately.
    Personally, the teams I have enjoyed the most in my six years have been where a number of folks kept up the banter. Almost always, everyone on the team joins in and/or has a good time.

    Before he went off to another server to make 87 alts, I often teamed with a fellow who was simply brilliant at chat, and we often picked up on a theme the other had started. This memorably lead to "Talk Like A Bizarro Chat" ("Hooray! Lag am back!" "Me finally hit Debt Cap! Me win!") due to a stray comment.

    We soon picked up on Subtle Signs that Nobody Else On The Team Was Amused. We knocked it off, and narrowly avoided joining you in the ranks of the Kicked.

    This clears something up for me.

    One of the first times I was on the boards, I apparently saw a photo like this in a Hickman-related thread. It was not as good a quality as this photo, and for a long time I thought that Zuni was smoking a cigar.

    Now, of course, I realize he never would have modelled such bad behavior for impressionable youth!

    So what suggestions did you use for class??

  16. That whole series was sooooo great.

    But I was never able to tell if that Kurtz cartoon was a joke or a documentary.

    Hover has certainly improved. A LOT!

Buffing Flightspeed only really helps with Hover, so this buff will only affect Hover. Maybe Group Fly . . . I haven't checked that one.
    Speaking as someone who started in i3... wow.

    Further, it is Local Man pointing this out, and all of his other pointers I have taken to the bank.

    Back in i3, not only did it take about 3 Flightspeed enhances to hit the cap, Flight was a HUGE EndHog, and if you did not stop enroute or slot it accordingly, you would run out of End and plunge to your demise... because you would invariably land in a pile of purple-con baddies who were Oh So Happy To See You Land And Have Just One Hitpoint Left.

    So as I have been respeccing my first lvl 50s to take advantage of Inherent Stamina, I am picking up a bunch of slots from Fly and Hover. Since you can slot a Stealth IO in Hover, I am also getting to pick up Stealth Pool powers and slots as well.

    Just wow. This is not your Father's Flight.

    The Beach Boys:
    Aruba, Jamaica
    Oooh, I wanna take ya
    Bermuda, Bahama
    Come on, pretty mama

    Your list:
    Anubis, Atum-Re
    Bastet, Geb and Horus
    Isis, Kebauet
    Osiris, Set and Sobek

    Yes, that chatter dates back to then. There are a few others like it.

    And occasionally someone will answer the phone and say, "Who? Ascendant? No, he's not here." That dates WAY back to the great Ascendant phone routines shortly after launch, but it isn't written so as to date itself.

    They have just never amended the Croatoa announcement chatter, since the "Northern" line opened in 2005. With the merged train lines, technically the Green and Yellow lines are the same, and just one big route.
  20. A mighty chant goes up: Steelclaw, Steelclaw, Steelclaw!

    No, don't run, it is a GOOD chant! As in, affirming the hilarity of what you wrote!

    It isn't easy to 1) crank out as much material as you do AND 2) have it be funny. I marvel at your skillz.

    You are one of the (many) bright spots on these boards, but never doubt for one minute that you are a bright spot, and that some of us eagerly await your latest witticism with unconstrained glee.
    ...and many others.

    Steelclaw, for what it is worth, EVERYONE will likely find ways that someone else plays "unpalatable" for whatever reason. Some play with costumes nobody else would use, some use "concepts" for their heroes that they alone find attractive.

    More power to 'em.

    Personally, I find your tournament to be a fascinating twist on game play, much the same way I enjoy watching someone play an archtype well that I personally do not play.

    You go, Steelclaw. If you are having fun, you are doing it right. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

    Also:

    You are one of the few folks whose posts just about everyone will read and come away DELIBERATELY amused. (There are some who provide unintentioned amusement, but I digress.) I will stop and read a Steelclaw post before any other. You are that kind of a draw.

    Some folks' reaction to this thread was loopy. Eh, you know how it goes. Dying is easy, comedy is tough. Enough folks got the joke to validate it. Some folks just won't get the joke. Some folks, like myself, will laugh at just about anything (see: Me Love Be A Troll) What can I say? I think Trolls are funny, and singing Trolls are funnier still. Troll songs best songs!

    So carry on the funny stuff, Sirrah. The Steelclaw Groupies on all servers insist!
  22. When the Kaaaaaahn! TF first came out, I was on a variety of teams using my own Blasters and Controllers. I never saw anything in-game that explicitly stated the "One and Done" nature of the Dim Grounding Ray, and indeed, since every team member got one, and each had 10 charges, Occam's Razor seemed to indicate that periodic applications were in order.

    What got even stranger was the varying success on the TFs I encountered. On a couple of them, we defeated Reichsie; one was a pretty fast beat-down and the other took about 15 minutes. On a couple of others, we got Reichsie down to a sliver of health and never could finish him; in both cases we beat on him for around an hour. I never could figure out the "key" to it--- we had Rads on both winning and losing teams, and no Rads on both, so that seemed to rule out the "Lingering Radiation or Forget It" problem when the GM Scaling first came on.

    I ran several this week, all successful. The one that took the longest featured me as the only Controller, an Earth/Storm/Fire. I spammed Freezing Rain, Earthquake, Quicksand, Volcanic Gasses, Fossilize and Stalagmites whenever they were up, ran Snow Storm on Reichsie the whole way and whacked him with Fireball and Fireblast, my Nem Staff and good ole Tornado and Lightning Storm as fast as I could. It took about 30 minutes to beat Reichsie down, and at one point, someone hollered, "We have no debuffs!" I pointed out that I was debuffing with everything I had, and they replied, "Well, they are not the best..." For a while, it looked like we would never get over the hump, but down he went.

    So I am at a loss to explain any reasons for the above or to articulate a Grand Strategy for Reichsie. Some times he hangs in, and sometimes he goes down in a few minutes, Rad or no Rad.

    And just before he finally went down on that last, long battle, I popped him with the DMG. Well, it felt good and down he went. Go figure.

    Test

    Choose the best answer from the following. The "best answer" is the answer that is MOST like you:

    A) I enjoy spending hours sorting my socks by themes and colors

    B) I enjoy spending hours watching paint dry

    **************************************************

    Great choice, eh? Either way you jump, you are really Maxxing The Old Charisma.

    Yes, there are really tests out there like that, and yes, the choices get even worse than that on a number of questions.
